Bowl of magic was the most delicious thing ever 🥰 This cafeteria was nice and cozy. Latte was great too, and the staff was very kind making my breakfast gluten free. Thank you!

Walked 15 minutes from the Travelodge London Excel to this place for a great £6 breakfast. Nice to see the local priest in there, administering to homeless people. Spend your money here and help the local community. You will get a good welcome.

We went for breakfast, expecting basic offerings and found so much more. The Garden Community Café was a down to Earth, homely, casual place with huge portions of tasty breakfast and family values all rolled into one. My breakfast sandwich was a feast of home made hash browns and egg, laced with bacon, sausage and all things tasty. My pal’s bakes Tattie (potato for locals) with cheese and mayo was also epic, with home-made mayo and TLC on the side. Great food, EPIC value and family values. Absolutely recommend, if only for the kids’ piano playing and superb marmalade (Tiger bread) toast.

Spent 3 nights at the Premier Inn nearby to visit family and friends in London. Found the Garden Community Cafe on-line as a great value breakfast venue. We met a few of the friendly staff, all of whom seemed to be volunteers. It is clear that there is great work going on here supporting the local community. Food was excellent...we had the bacon roll and the Magic Granola bowl...kept us going until tea time! Nice to chat to you about Norfolk Simon!

A great find if you want to escape the rubbish at Excel. Food is good and the coffees are varied and tasty. Staff are helpful and friendly. There are community activities and you can play board games if you want to. It is a safe haven for all. It has some fun decorations. It is also informal. Lots of healthy options too. It is a nice place to bring some informal friends.

I've visited this cafe a few times over the past few years, it has always been a welcoming & vibrant place. New management has changed this cafe a little bit but it still remains one of the hidden gems of this area. Community activities & regular workshops make this place an important venue within the community, you may be lucky enough to pop in when a number of their many nteresting events is taking place there. The food is freshly prepared with lovely ingredients, reasonably priced - the money goes back into facilitating their projects. I sat on a cosy sofa & played Connect4 whilst drinking a cappuccino & enjoying a breakfast bun (& bowl of magic). Also, the opening hours means that it is not now full of school students from the nearby school. Sad, it is not open on weekends...

I love fine cheese as well as French food so I don't know how I missed this place at Brixton Village. Spotted it after eating nearby when the place was not to busy so made a visit a week later to try it. There were so many things I wanted to try like fondue, mac and cheese, mussels etc. The person there was really helpful and frank about the everything which helped me to decide. Ordered the open baguette and a side of mussels however when I saw how good it was from the person next to me I changed it to a full portion. The baguette was good as expected, the tomato ketchup wasn't needed because I felt mustard would be a better compliment. The mussels were the star of the show as expected because they use fresh mussels which are soft and springy. The blue cheese sauce was lush and the baguette slices were perfect for mopping it up. Will definitely be coming back to try the other dishes.

To be clear, this review is for the Karaway Bakery, mail order service. We order four loaves from Karaway, after reading many positive reviews, planning to use one and freeze three, as good quality rye bread freezes very well. However, we were disappointed to receive four stale loaves that were already only fit for breadcrumbs. Given this was our first order, and for £20 (there is a minimum order amount), it is particularly disappointing that we were not considered important enough to send out reasonably fresh bread. Even worse, while our order arrived Thursday, trying to contact the bakery to report this was not possible as they appear to be closed on Fridays We shall not be buying mail order again and cannot recommend this service to anybody.
