First visit here and I have to say my blueberry muffin was the best I ever had. Proper sweet blueberrys inside. Incredible and a lovely moist muffin. I ordered a coffee but their machine had broken but the tea was fine. Plenty of it with decent crockery. Recommended for me with outdoor seating also

Great location. Friendly guy on the till. I got a free coffee on the app as a welcome thing. Then a blueberry muffin. The muffin, I got to say for £3+ was horrible! So salty, there wasn’t any sweetness at all! Coffee was very average. I will stick to my free Waitrose coffee (;

I go to Gail's a lot. 4-5 times a week, the staff are great and I like the menu. However, it's often becoming overrun with laptop users. I shouldn't moan at once upon a time I had one 😁. My gripe is they sit there for ages with their empty coffee cup, as lots of potential customers pop their head in and then go elsewhere. Maybe something could be done to strike a balance?

I'm clearly in love with Gail's pastries, cakes and coffee (not talking about bread!) - no matter what I order, I always get the best quality lovely food and drinks. This time the foam on the coffee went flat before it was served, which was a surprise - other than that, it was a good experience.

Coffee was awful, salmon bagel was dry and tasteless and the service was terrible. I asked for some dressing with my bagel as it was so dry and the waitress was really off hand and rude and refused to provide me with any

I ordered delivery via Just Eat - the item wasn't in stock so they sent a miniture ham/chees sandwich over priced compared to what I expected. Awful service on more than one occasion from the cafe.

I found a quiet seat by the window (there are good views onto the street), and waited for my lunch (a chicken Aioli Burger). The bun was delicious and the chicken Aioli was pretty good too. It was however overpriced. The crisps also were overpriced. I bought a coffee which was too bitter (even with extra milk). And they didn't do table service. I think they should have to justify the price. The internet didn't work either. And there were no charging points near my spot. So overall, the food was good, but overpriced and the coffee wasn't great.

Just seen the other reviews for this Gail’s. I’m shocked. I’ve had nothing but great service from the lovely staff, and excellent quality food. I also order delivery for breakfast several times a week and it’s the best around. Only a couple of times have they ran out of an item, but they phoned me to let me know before sending the delivery, and found a substitute item usually. Along with The Ivy a few doors away, these are the best quality food spots in Guildford hands down. I’ve lived in Manhattan for over a decade, and they rival some of the best places there so I’m not sure where these one star reviewers are coming up with some of these descriptions from as I’ve never experienced anything close to those.

Gail's is a quality trendy coffee eatery but our visit to its Guildford branch was not a great experience on a Sunday early afternoon. The branch was it seemed under staffed or disorganised. We were able to order quite quickly and though had to wait for a while for our pastries and coffee. We were expecting quality however the pastries were not fresh and the cappuccinos extremely watery and awful, I must of had one sip. I am sure not all Gail's are like this one and would suggest much much more effort and enthesis is given to making ones coffee to a much much higher standard.

Large selection of cakes, breads, cookies and pastries fitted the bill admirably for a late lunch washed down with a great latte and a flat white. Family friendly.

Very disappointing experience. The lady who served us at the till who was absolutely awful. She approached us with a very uninterested look, almost as if she was about to do us a favour. We must not have decided what we wanted fast enough, as she started repeating "can I help you...? can I help you...?" while looking down at the floor and grumbling with an annoyed tone. The place was packed and, as we didn't wanted to hold up the queue, we didn't have time to check the menu, so we just went for two of the pastries they had on display, a cappuccino and a hot chocolate. Apparently you can choose between small and regular size. I say apparently because she didn't even ask what size we wanted. She just went ahead and chose for us. Judging by the size, I'm assuming they were small, but I don't know as we didn't get a receipt. After we paid (almost £20...), I was waiting on the coffee machine side, as in many places you get both food and drinks together. Then I saw her standing again by the till, looking at me with a slight grin and gesturing annoyedly, as in saying "do you want these or not?" We got our food and drinks (served on a horrible dirty metal tray, the kind you might get in prison...) and went back to our table. We consumed as fast as we could and left. I hate to be "that guy" that goes around complaining, but the treatment was genuinely awful. It was our first and last time. We won't be back. To the owners: no customer expects red carpet treatment, but at least to be treated with basic decency and respect. Make that the people you employ treat your customers accordingly, or they'll bring your business down. You're lucky you're in a busy area that guarantees a steady stream of customers. If you want great service and quality in Guildford, I recommend Ceylon House of Coffee.

Can't believe the negative reviews for this place as have been here many times and always found it excellent......and I'm never slow to find fault. The service here is super efficient, friendly and helpful, a terrific ambiance, stylish surroundings in Tunsgate and the coffee and food are the best. Can't wait to visit again and thanks to all the staff.

Looked good on the menu but in reality was awful. The veggie sausages were cold and didn't look as if they'd gone anywhere near any heat, the avocado tasted like it had only just been defrosted with hard lumps in and the other items hardly edible. The trouble is at London City Airport this is about the only place to get a cooked breakfast so they've got a captive audience.

Pleasant spot for a tea break. Great choice of teas - we wanted decaf and Earl Grey and both were lovely... and in a proper large cup and saucer. There was a good choice of cakes although we resisted the temptation.

I have eaten at this restaurant several times recently. Being not too crowded it has been ideal for lunch with business contacts. There is plenty of space between the tables! The food and wine selection is perfectly good and service staff attentive. I shall be going again!
