Francine's on the whole is a very nice chip shop, has a wide range of food on the menu (including Savoy). Staff are always very polite and friendly. My one drawback is the food is not hot and tends to go cold quickly (not a slight on the taste as it was still yummy) just needs a spin in the microwave

All I will say is the food wasn't bad but the man who took my order was a miserable unhappy employee. Won't use this place again due to the customer service experience. I know it's a chippy but the one I used to use I enjoyed going there as their customer service was great.

Fantastic Fish & Chips, & great value too !

We had pie , chips and curry sauce tonight. It was terrible. The chips were overcooked and hard like they had been re cooked from day before. I will not be wasting my money again.

I have not had fish and chips for a long time, Francine’s did an excellent job, the fish was made to order and very chunky, the chips were cooked to perfection, we had curry sauce which was very good. The staff were very friendly and the shop was immaculately clean. Well done Team, we shall return 👏

Thursday evening and the shop was very busy, good F&C's, good portions but found them quite expensive at £11.55 for a large portion.

As a cumulative total of my experiences with this store, hoo boy is there history. Local chippy, very close to me, but has often been considered a last resort for the ol fish and chips if at all. Multiple times has my entire family ended up with some- admittedly rather mild -food poisoning from here, the prices are almost 50% higher than my normal chippy... Over half an hour away, and sometimes the food is actually delicious. Quite frankly the various quality and ludicrous prices are why I honestly avoid this like the plague. *I see your £3.70 ish price tag on a large chips, i get just as much from my normal choice for like £2.60* #disclaimer: all the numbers and math are estimates and vague memories, and are not going to be 100% perfectly accurate, but are as accurate as I can remember them being. Yes, I would consider finding a better or cheaper alternative if you can make the trip if i were any of you. Buying anything from here let's them justify the sky high prices.

Came in on a game day, so I understand it was really busy so perhaps people are trying to cook things quickly. We had ordered a couple portions of chips, spuds, and a chicken kebab. When we got home everything was okay, but the chicken in the kebab was clearly undercooked. I called just to let them know really, I wasn’t going back out so wasn’t looking for a replacement. I was worried by the managers response - he explained that chicken can “sometimes be pink, but is cooked.” I explained I had seen undercooked chicken before, this definitely was that, and that I could provide photos. The manager was very clear that sometimes their chicken kebab meat, and their southern fried chicken comes out pink, but it is cooked. I asked if the chicken is probed and he explained they don’t probe the meat served. It was just concerning that even after I could provide proof of undercooked meat, they didn’t take it seriously at all.

A large portion of chips is enough for 3 people. Or maybe that is a challenge for you. Great haddock.

Superb fish and chips, generous helpings and the shop is pristine. I haven't rated the 'Atmosphere' highly as this isn't a restaurant, but the staff are always welcoming and efficient. Food is always fresh and tasty.

Food quality not great. Fish was good. Chips, spicy potatoes and mushy peas of low standard. Chips soggy, spicy potatoes had a weird earl grey tea like taste, mushy peas just not great. Over priced for quality. Not cooked in beef dripping like the Francines in Newquay or St Austell, which are significantly better. Staff were reasonably polite.

Always good service. Prices much higher now. Note - 1 large portion of chips weighs about a kilo and would feed a family of 5!

Nearly there with the food, I had cod n chips & chips with savaloy & curry sauce. A bit to much on the greasy side for my taste on the chips, on the plus side large chip portion. And only other negative £19, I know everything is very pricey at the moment but just a little steep.

Good honest Fish and Chips served very efficiently by a room full of rapid cooks and assistants and counter staff.. All very friendly and smiles. Very fast turnaround and the portions are generous.

Didn't go into the shop but the food was 1st class. Will definitely be visiting again😋

Working away in Plymouth this weekend from Birmingham. Thought I’d try this place out, food was served fresh and it tastes fresh. The had a promotion on which they offered me, after a large fish and chips I can barely move so I refused the promotion.,Thank you for the hospitality and lovely food.

Apart from the oil in the batter it was lovely this was how first time it won't be how last just not fish

Absolutely outstanding F&C. Yes it's more expensive than others but your paying for quality. Can get very busy but Service is very quick.

One of the nicest fish and chips we had. The portions are very good, service is quick and organised. They have quiet a big waiting area and their opening hours are brill. The fish is very crunchy and good portion of chips. I recommend this place, looks very clean as well.

I have been an inconsistent visitor to Francine's since moving to the area, as it is highly recommended in Plymouth. However, my experiences have been mixed. On some occasions, the food has been fantastic and I have been thoroughly impressed. However, the quality has been lacking most of the time. One of my biggest disappointments has been the chips. They often seem to be undercooked, lacking the crispy texture that I prefer. Additionally, I have also been disappointed with the battered sausages that I order. They should be crunchy but mine are constantly soft and soggy. That being said, the service has always been friendly and prompt, and the prices are reasonable. In conclusion, my experiences have been hit or miss but for most people it's a favourite. Based on my experience, I don't normally recommend it anymore. The service is friendly and the price is reasonable but it's not consistent in the food quality.

They fry chips in the same oil as squid 🦑 🤢 I know because I asked. We ordered chips. Waited about 15 minutes and they were ready. I was looking at the menu and saw the word “squid”. My brother asked me as a joke “I wonder if they use the same oil to fry chips as squid.” I thought “let me ask them for my own peace of mind”. So I asked them and they said “yes, we use the same oil to fry everything”. I was shocked, I thought they had same oil for meats and separate for chips. Was told nothing could be done about it and that I should have asked BEFORE ordering. So vegetarian/vegan not friendly ❌ Threw the chips away 🥴🤷‍♀️

Decided to have fish and chips yesterday as my Dad was coming down to visit over the bank holiday. He was very impressed and thought it was the best fish and chips he'd had in a long time.

I liked coming here and getting my fish and chips. They were a decent size and you can get kebabs as well. You can help yourself to drinks but you have to pay. Parking was usually good in most cases The chips were of good quality as was the fish

Excellent quality fish and unbeatable chips. Large chips can feed 3-4 easy. Efficient staff and care a great deal that you are happy with your meal and it's made to their high standards. Curry Sauce is nice, reasonably priced and quite strong but not overpowering. Comes highly recommended.

Fresh cooked large Cod and chips for £8:00 Can't go wrong for the price and the quality was top notch. Bit of a way to travel for a takeaway for me but worth it. Very clean premises with plenty of staff to deal with the abundance of customers.
