Enjoyed the food and the dedication of the staff.

We returned after a very nice meal a few months ago. Unfortunately it's not stated anywhere that the kitchen closes at 3pm. Had to go elsewhere.

You will not get a nicer meal than this beautiful little gem of a place. The staff are fabulous and the food is delicious and quickly served. My favourite place to eat ❤️

Went for Sunday dinner. Was quite nice and the price is very reasonable. Would have liked to know roast potatoes were on offer, though

Food was at best edible andwas more like canteen food (I assume they don't have an actual chef) but Service Staff were really nice

The pub was freezing, so we had to keep our coats on whilst eating our meal. The young girl who served us was polite, pleasant and efficient. The food however was disappointing. My mother and I ordered pork chops, they were not a chop they were definitely a pork steak, onion rings were from Iceland or any other freezer department, my husband had corned beef pie which in all honesty was just mush in hard pastry. Overall it was very disappointing and I shall not be returning.

Popped in for a couple of cheeky Saturday afternoon beers. Good welcome and nice relaxed atmosphere. Nice place for a chilled sit down beer 🍺 Didn't have food but has a very good reputation for that apparently 👍

Regularly take my kids here they love the garden food is quality and affordable and staff are friendly

Needs updating, especially ladies, food lovely, service a bit igldy pigly tho!

We were surprised how good the food was as it was in the lower price range compared to other pub eateries. The chips were home made which is one of the things that really annoys me about most places with bought in chips which are awful. I had the steak pie, excellent and my wife had macaroni cheese which she describes as really good.

Enjoyed the mael service was good reasonable portions and the price was reasonable

Came in for a drink on a Sunday evening as we were in Nantymoel visiting family. As we arrived a pub quiz had already started. We were all welcomed warmly and invited to join the quiz even though they were a few questions in. A lovely way to round off a weekend away. Thank you :)

Had a fantastic night here. Upstairs room. Food was amazing and the staff were great.

The atmosphere was excellent. The staff were helpful and friendly, but the service was very slow and food was OK. Prices are expensive for what we had.

First time visiting and it's a very nice atmosphere and it's a lovely old wooden beams pub they have a lunchtime menu and a specials menu plus other options .I had lasagna chips with a side salad and a slice of carrot cake with cream for afters along with my mother who didn't have dessert.

Always superb food and Sunday just gone was no different. Beautiful beef dinner with lots of nicely cooked vegetables.

What a lovely experience. Such friendly staff and a great menu to choose from. The chef even provided a gluten-free sauce for our friend. Reasonably priced.

My partner treated me to a meal here. It was amazing. I had Stilton Chicken and my partner had Sirlion Steak. Both meals were delicious. The staff were very courteous and the ambiance of the place was relaxed and friendly. I would highly recommend a visit.

Chips not cooked, really hard,don't think we will be going there again.

Visited 26 May 2023 at lunchtime. Service wasn’t the quickest for a quiet lunch time. Food was average for what you pay but not brilliant. I had the Cod and chips and the batter was awful dry and too crispy with not much fish inside and scappy amount of chips as we had to share a tray. Partner had the garlic chicken and he said the sauce wasn’t very garlicky for a garlic sauce. £35.00 for 2 main and 2 drinks. Would come back but wouldn’t rush.

My wife went there tonight with 2 friends. She had a Korma. And when asked about Naan bread and poppadoms. Was told they don't do them!!! She did say Korma had plenty of chicken in it though. Then when they asked about desserts on the menu. They were told they didn't have any crumble or other's apart from carrot or chocolate fudge cake only. My wife said it was freezing cold in there. Also, they were told no coffee is available in the week. And they all commented that the man who served them was very unfriendly bordering downright rude. They definitely won't be going again or recommend it to friends or family.

A traditional village pub with lots of character. You get a warm welcome when you enter the pub which I liked. Had a nice selection of food on the menu , picked surf and turf with side of onions . Food was excellent I must say. only thing to remember is that they stop serving food after 3pm on a Saturday. Nice selection of drinks served behind the bar to choose from . If your in the area , we’ll worth a visit .

Superb Sunday lunch, as always.

Our family just came back following an outstanding 3 course Xmas dinner. Food was to a great quality as was the service by all the staff. As for value for money, what can I say? Doubt anyone can find cheaper with the same standard of food and service. 👏👏👏👏👏

Wont take card payments under £10, makes it hard to stop for a spontaneous drink and a snack

Great pub and super friendly staff. We had a wake in the bar, buffet was great and really well priced. Super accommodating for time/date changes, would definitely recommend for any events.

Me and 13 of my friends visited the pub for lunch yesterday 11th September. We was served what can only be described as a kids meal portion at best. Massive let down and left a bitter taste in all our mouths. Definitely will not be returning/ that’s 14 customers in one sitting unhappy. Few of the boys were also given incorrect drinks. Poor show.

Were here on a Sunday for the Sunday roast which was ok, nothing more nothing less. Friendly personnel though and a nice place to visit, but would recommend to go elsewhere for a (better) Sunday Roast.

A very nice local pub, the food is always delicious and staff are always chatty and polite. The place its self has an amazing ambience. I would highly recommend having the garlic chicken, the breast is cooked to perfection, then top it off with their lemon roulade and a pint of inches. Honestly their deserts are to die for!!!!!!

Amazing food and such lovely staff, 12 off us and food came out all at same time and was really hot. Had such a good couple of hours, highly recommended

Visited this pub tonight for a birthday meal for my daughter nothing was to much trouble for Debbie and the ladies serving our meals the food was delicious and the attention to details was outstanding we thoroughly enjoyed our experience very reasonably priced the portions were huge and will definitely be going back soon 😀

Went for afternoon lunch for family birthday and it was great . Welcome was warm and friendly, food selection was good and service was quick. The food was absolutely delicious and everything was cooked perfectly. Will definitely be returning.

Took my grandson who is only 4yrs old for lunch, the staff were so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble... The food was amazing and plenty of it for the price.... We will definitely be visiting again

I went to the Fox and Hounds to see what it was like I was very impressed good service nice pub and very friendly customers felt at home very good group that made the night.

Walked from Gilfach Goch and stopped for a sandwich and drink. Didn't stay long but seemed very popular as there were a lot of diners. Menu looked extensive and good prices. Hosts were friendly and helpful and snack arrived promptly. Made our way back to Gilfach but will definitely making a booking for a meal one evening. All walkers should give them a try.

So welcoming. We had a table of 10 for a funeral wake /meal. Fabulous host and great food.
