What a super little find, very friendly staff, lovely food, great prices, brilliant choices in menu, free parking in town, and lots of lovely Italian goodies to purchase, highly recommend

I requested catering for a works lunch. Luca was very open to creating a bespoke menu. He was very clear about all the arrangements. Food was ready to take away as planned. It was very tasty and decent portions. Luca is clearly enthusiastic and keen to do a good job.

Fontanella's is a wonderful example of a small Italian Trattoria set in the heart of Whittlesey. We have been twice before for lunch time meals. Tonight was our first evening meal and we were not disappointed. Service as good as ever and the food excellent. Portions are good (we eat a little less as we get older unfortunately). This is good wholesome Italian food, Its not over the top fancy and thats what makes it so enjoyable. The staff care, its not just a job to them, their food is their passion. I think we were the only people dining tonight who had not done so previously. Booking is essential both for daytime and on their occasional evening services. We will be looking out for the next evening soiree. As hospitality in general is suffering with rising prices along with everyone else, it is essential these little gems of restaurants are kept alive by using them, and enjoying their offering. We booked up a table at Fontanela’s with high expectations as the reviews in general were pretty favourable but we ended up disappointed not to mention having an upset stomach. The service was good as the staff were very friendly and happy to please but both our meals were very salty and underwhelming to the point that we both had upset stomach as a result. I had the soup as my starter and was told it was Minestrone but in fact was nothing more than tomato bolognaise My wife had the garlic mushroom which was very oily and she though at one point the mushrooms were doing a back stroke, too much oil. A real shame for us based on what the reviews said so unfortunately we can’t recommend based on our experience.

Another fabulous night with friends and my sister at Fontanella's Christmas special night. Food brilliant, service and atmosphere brilliant. 8 of us got together to enjoy an evening as we always do during the year and Christmas, this being their first Christmas evening of 2023. Turkey flavour was so good and succulent, plenty of veg and roast potatoes, stuffing and pigs in blanket a real feast. Enzo, Luca and Lorenzo made our evening special. Thank you to you all. I booked out the restaurant for my upcoming "big" birthday for 20 people. The whole process was very easy from making menu choices and sorting out seating arrangements. The food on the night was very nice as always, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the ambience/atmosphere was spot on. Would definitely recommend this place for a private booking, it's a nice size so you can have the place to yourself and enjoy your night.

A group of us went for an evening meal at Fontanellas. Choices are from a set menu with 4 options per course and varied to suit all tastes. The food was delicious! Fresh, well cooked and presented beautifully. I think portion sizes are spot on too! 1 of our party is gluten free and also had choices on the menu that pleased her. The ambience and personalities of the staff also shine through. A great team, attentive and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Overall a fantastic night out and we will all be back!

Dropped in on the off chance and the small 28 covered restaurant was fairly busy for a Tuesday lunchtime. They only open at lunch times - evenings by large bookings only. Food was clean and fresh and just what we ordered And a two course with a bottle of house red for two came to £41.00 - very good value. Will be visiting again.

Amazing Buffet and service We used Fontanellas for our daughters christening, and my gosh everyone was raving about how tasty it was, Pizzas, lasagna, meats, cheese, breads, pasta and potato salad The service they provided was also 5* as we were running late to the venue and they waited patiently until we arrived The selection they provided catered for everyones needs and there was something for everyone 100% using these guys again

You won’t find a better breakfast or service from this lovely family. Prices are very reasonable as well for good product as well.

Wow this place is unreal. We went here for lunch and it was fantastic. You wouldn’t have thought it was our first time visiting with the welcome that we received which was lovely. The food is incredible and great value. To the point that you have to become a regular and you would be crazy not to! The quality and authenticity of the menu and the experience as a whole takes you to another dimension. The food is very hearty and made with high quality produce. Each Friday morning the retired farmers and wives (sometimes) and family meet for coffee at Fontanella's. We spend normally just over an hour catching up, become quite a ritual, but last Friday we were all there together. So I got Mary to take a photo of us all, enjoying coffee and a catch up. Well what can I say but an absolute brilliant night spent at a great restaurant Fontanella’s in Whittlesey, booked for a Xmas night with my friend and it was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Introduced 3 of my friends to the amazing antipasti sharing boxes. What a tasty selection couldn’t fault any of it so fresh and full of flavour and variety. We all chose pasta dishes for our main these again are loaded with fresh ingredients and a huge portion! Impressed with it all. Delivery was prompt and friendly with social distancing guidelines and PPE. It was so amazing I forgot to take a photo! All round an amazing meal once again. We've had pizza from somewhere else in whittlesey before and just found it very greasy which made the base very soggy and put us off. My 2 year old loved the carbonara and my eldest loved the garlic bread and chips! He asked me if we can order from you every night for dinner! I also have to say your lasagne is beautiful . Yours was so nice and the tomato sauce was just right and not too rich. We cannot wait for our next takeaway now and would highly recommend to everyone. Enjoyed a takeaway from Fontanella's on Saturday night - the antipasti selection box is delicious as was the limoncello tiramasu and my wife was just as happy with hers. Love seeing businesses repurpose so they can continue to make money by serving delicious food for customers to eat in their own homes during these crazy times. We had lovely takeaway pizzas from Fontanella’s last Saturday evening. From a pizza loving family that have friends that we visit in Puglia, Italy we are quite fussy. These pizzas definitely delivered!I ordered and paid over the telephone, the lady who took the order was extremely helpful and polite. It was delivered within 40 minutes as promised by yet again a lovely delivery lady. She wore a mask and gloves; keeping to the social distancing regulations. The pizzas were delicious! Very tasty. We will be using the service again and will recommend to all our local friends and family. Thank you Fontanella’s for your service to the community in these unprecedented times. We really appreciate it.

Ordered a delivery and food was amazing, ordering process was simple and easy and food arrived on time! The tiramisu was excellent! Food was stored well and stayed warm. Make sure to look up open times whilst restrictions are in place as might be different to websites.

Was lucky enough to visit Fontanllas on the evening the govt closed all cafes, pubs, restaurants due to covid19. So glad we went, warmly greeted, service exceptional, food delicious and so fresh and hot. Cant wait for it to reopen, I think they are doing a takeaway service now, which we we be using!!!!

Have popped in for coffee and a teacake but thought I would take my 13 year old son for a half term treat, he has said everytime we go past can we go there? He had a Calzone Pizza and Fries I had an omelette, and wow! I managed to grab a bite of the pizza and the dough was absolutely delicious, light and full of flavour! My omelette was the same, I cannot wait to go back and try something else on the menu. We received a lovely welcome when we went in and fabulous service through the meal!

We were lucky enough to book a table for one of the evenings when they open. The food was delicious, with plenty of it. The service is very warm and friendly without being intrusive. It has a wonderful family feel and everyone is made to feel most welcome. All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and service and can't recommend Fontenallas highly enough. We can't wait to go back.

Went for a lunchtime meal with the in laws and we are quite into Italian food and already heard glowing reviews about this place! I was NOT disappointed!!! :) We had a variety of starters which were all exceptional and for main I ordered a traditional carbonara. Which I quote and dont get too overexcited...... WAS THE BEST CARBONARA OF MY LIFE. I have travelled all over Italy, my in laws Nonna has cooked me it before but this was simply the best ever. (ps dont tell Nonna I said that)

We took our two twin grandchildren with their Great Grandmother and Auntie for lunch today 31st Oct. I dressed them up and I threw something on! We had a lively time and twins enjoyed themselves. The love Enzo and Luca's spaghetti bolognese plus babychinos. We took lots photos, they love going to Fontanella's when they come to stay.

We popped in for a bite to eat and we were amazed. The food was brilliant. We had a range of food which included pasta, gnocchi, lasagna, pizza and kids menu items. I real treasure to have this restaurant in Whittlesey.

There are not many places you can go nowadays and get a piping hot delicious latte. This is one of them!

This is a traditional Italian cafe/restaurant in the middle of a fenland market town - the welcome is delightful you are put at your ease and nothing is too trouble - the food is traditional Italian with a little English thrown in - highly recommend the risotto but all the food is of the highest standard - be warned if planning a visit at the moment the restaurant isn’t open in the evening - but please plan a visit you will not be disappointed- highly recommended

Stopped by last week for a lovely lunch of meaty lasagna. Enjoyed the simple food and atmosphere so much I came back to this local again for a leisurely lunch. They're open mostly for Breakfast and Lunch and are worth the effort. Friendly and popular with the locals for a reason.

You can tell that everything is fresh, delicious and made with the best ingredients. All the food me and my Partner had was all so so delicious and really reasonably priced - approx. £6 or so for a main. The staff are all incredibly friendly and welcoming but not overbearing. I can't wait to go back again!

After our last visit here we have been wanting to return. We had a free Saturday a couple of weeks ago so managed to get back. It was just as amazing as the first time. Served by a lovely lady who was really pleasant and chatty with a lovely smile on her face. The meals were lovely and filling but we still had a bit of room for dessert and the choices offered were endless. As well as the cake fridge we were offered things that were in the kitchen. I had the lemon cheesecake and the wife had Italian bread and butter pudding with cream. Very naughty but so nice! We really do love it at Fontanellas and the staff and food make this place the great place it is. Can't wait to be back.

Good value breakfast, well cooked and arrived fast. Friendly service too and welcomes families. Parking on-street, but no problems finding a space close enough when we visited on a Saturday.

I've been to Fontanellas a number of times now, and every time the food has been superb and the atmosphere incredibly friendly. A cozy restaurant with a warm welcome always gets a return visit from me. Not to forget the array of delicious desserts, which always has me struggling which one to choose. Besides the amazing food, Enzo and Luca always go the extra mile to make you feel at home. Definitely my go to place for a delightful afternoon lunch. Thank you x

Absolutely wonderful wedding lunch with friends and family. Super 3 course meal and amazing friendly service . The lasagna was melt in the mouth fresh pasta . Super yummy. Couldn’t recommend enough !!

We have been wanting to try this place for ages and as we had the day off this was the obvious choice. So glad we visited. Such great options that I struggled with what to order. I always have bruschetta to start so this was a no-brainer. The bruschetta at Fontanella's comes with the bonus of cheese melted on top, and such a generous portion (2 slices). So to the main - the wife wanted the pasta with tomato sauce which she loved. Again a really generous portion but she managed it all and is still talking about it today (we visited yesterday lunchtime!). So I didn't know what to have as the chicken in brandy and cream sauce looked appealing, also pizza was such a bargain price, but opted for lasagna. I love proper homemade lasagna and this definitely did not disappoint. I have never finished a lasagna while eating out but I polished this off with no problem. Absolutely lovely. The two guys who own this place are really friendly and nothing is a problem. We even managed a chocolate torte for afters which we shared. All this with a bottle of wine came to just under £35. We often pay more than this in pubs serving proccessed basic pub grub so we were so impressed with the bill. We never felt rushed at any point and both guys took the time to speak to us. We were told about their evening specials and look forward to the next one as we will be there in a heartbeat. Can't wait to return. Thanks so much Fontanella's. This is an absolute gem of a place.

Not the cheapest food I've had but excellent quality throughout. Entertainment was excellent and it had been arranged for my wife to sing with the house singer which all enjoyed.

Hidden gem really. Opens 7:30 to 4:30 approx. on day we went. Smallish menu for mains and we all had one of the Chef's specials (choice of 4 ). Good meal and wine at reasonable prices compared with most italian restaurants. Lovely desserts to.

What a lovely suprise to this jewel of a place to eat. From the moment we walked in to long after the food had been eaten, it was a very friendly and invitingn experience.. the owner and the customers are clearly very friendly and invite you into there chat willingly.
