Florries Fish & Chips in Carmarthenshire

Chips good but when my husband asked for some paper to carry them back to his car because they were hot she gave him some begrudgingly saying the customer before him was given some because they had curry sauce.

A welcoming takeaway at the beach. Not just fish and chips but ice reams aswell. Top price but its good. Accessible toilet at beach. A lovely place to relax.

Really disappointing after all the reviews. Very expensive poor quality fish and chips and drinks! At £23 for 2 would not go again or recommend.

Got there at half 3 on a regular non-rainy day in July and were told they were closing. So we had to find somewhere else to eat. Very disappointing

Absolutely delicious fish and chips and the price was very reasonable. You've got the added bonus of Llansteffan beach and castle, so things to see for everyone. This will be our new go-to stop off on the way to Pembrokeshire. Love it!

Avoid the fish and the rissole Both are coated in a very brown very cheap coating and were definitely microwaved You could sole your shoes with them Hardly any fish under the leather like coating

We visited today and with all the children getting hungry we stopped at florries..so pleased we did.. The lady who served us was so friendly and lovely.. The fish and chips were amazing we sat on the beach eating them and everything was so hot and fresh..it all smelt wonderful 🥰 The children gave the sausages and burger a big thumbs up too 🥰 Will definitely return when we visit family again … P.s we also went back for ice cream and lollies 😉

All cooked to order - light batter on the fish and crispy chips too - portions of chips are very generous - one large portion fed three of us with ease - really friendly owner too

We stayed at cottage field’s campsite and had lovely chips!! Was very full and they were really nice especially by the beach. Will visit again when we are back in Llansteffan campsite with friends.

Excellent food and service,area lovely too, food very fresh and tasty, nice scenery then to sit and enjoy only issue was that at the end the public toilets were closed for decorating, not very useful when one of the party was diabetic

Not generally a fan of fish and chips HOWEVER popped into florries today and the BEST chip shop fish I’ve ever tasted it was delicious!!! Service with a smile the staff were lovely and easily the best fish We’ve had from a chippy in ages I’m definitely going back .. a must if your out that way enjoy the beach and grab a bite

Fabulous food. Portions of Cod are rather small,but if there is 2 of you buy 3portions,you won't regret it. Opening times depending on weather conditions,but there is answer phone to ring for opening details. Staff friendly and helpful. Curry sauce iffy though. Highly recommended

Lovely fresh fish and chips. Portions are a wee bit on the small side. There is normally a wait of about 10 minutes to get your food but it’s definitely worth the wait.

We drove over 100 miles to buy our lunch at Florrie's, checked if they were open the day before and even though the weather was appalling on the day, sure enough they were open and waiting for us. Superb food and service with a smile. We'll definitely be back before the end of summer.

Located in the main beach car park and offering fish and chips, drinks and ice cream. Food quality and portions are average but having beach refreshments is useful for snacks.Unfortunately not always open which makes if difficult to plan with a family. The car park is free and disabled friendly.

The picture is an old picture and as sweet as it is it has now had a quality refurb . With a new kitchen and lovely made cabin. I had the scampi and chips which were really nice . Best chips in a long time , home made too. The people who served us were very pleasant and welcoming . Really worth calling down to have the food and take in the stunning view across the estuary .

Both had fish and chips here for lunch. They are cooked fresh to order and were delicious. Reasonably priced as well. There is also a little shelter with seat to eat them out of the roasting sun (yes we were lucky with the weather) or to take shelter in inclement weather. Recommended!

We were recommeded the Scampi here, and yes, it was indeed the best we had ever eaten. My husband doesn't eat seafood, but he loved this. Both scampi and chips were freshly cooked for us. The chips are not the classic soggy chip-shop chips, but crisp --which was the best partner to that ever so fresh scampi. Highly recommended.Oh, and it's so cheap!

Food very good quality, not your traditional type of chips but still very good and the cod was excellent. Scampi and Chips excellent also but will agree with some of the comments that the plaice was not as enjoyable. All in all very satisfied and will be back next time we visit Llansteffan

Such a lovely place and perfect fish and chips served by polite staff , all the food was cooked fresh !

Poor old Mum, Dad, Gran and or Grampie! What a rip off. How foolish to que for ages at these beach side stalls that only open at their convenience. Each over priced tub of chips is woeful, overpriced sometimes under cooked and definitely lacking in quantity. Llansteffan is a lovely place to visit, but please don't waste your money at these expensive outlets. See for yourself if you don't want to listen to me. Plan a head, take your picnic then you only have to pay for way overpriced ice creams in the shop that only opens when it suits them. A slippery slope for a fabulous seaside village. Beware foolish parents and grandparents with money to squander.....

Its is a very nice location and the people running the place are lovely but the cod and chips were ordinary at best. I don't think they have any local competition and I say eat there the food is ok

Beautiful setting but food very mediocre. Did not live up to the reviews that it has been given in my opinion. Shame was looking forward to fabulous fish and chips by the sea.

I’m not kidding. I take a family trip to see my parents every year near Carmarthen and when I ask my kids what they’re looking forward to most, the answer this year was “Scampi and chips from Florrie’s”. This will be the 4th year in a row we have taken the trip to Llansteffan just for this lunch. I don’t know exactly what makes it so good but I am guessing that when you buy fresh fish and produce, prepare them yourself daily, on premises, then cook to order - you’re on the right track! They clearly keep their oil clean regularly as you can smell when it’s bad. The chips are the perfect combination of crispy and fluffy and it’s all served with smiles. Something that is lacking in a lot of faster food places. We went back 3 times this year and had scampi and chips every time. Each time was just as perfect as the last.

Kids asked to go to 'Helen's' for chips after a lovely family day. The chips were very fresh and the curry sauce was incredible. It's great to have such a place on our front door!!!!! Thank you ladies, service was fantastic xxx

Cooked to order, tasty fish and real chips. No complaints, friendly staff and a super location. Open to 18.15 when we visited and looked to be very busy all afternoon.

Cooked to order and cooked to perfection, the crispy batter concealing moist and tasty cod. Chips made from real potatoes completed the meal ,so delicious and great value. Efficient and friendly staff. I will definitely be coming back for more!

I frequently visit Llansteffan and often go to Florries to have cod and chips. All food is cooked fresh to order and is also very reasonably priced compared to other chip shops in the surrounding area. Well worth a visit if you are in Llansteffan.

Was really excited to try these fish & chips after hearing great things about these “ famous” fish & chips.

We saved fish and chips for the last day of our holiday and this place was recommended. I really wish we hadn't bothered. Everything is cooked to order so it's nice and fresh. Well it's freshly cooked but the fish tasted stale. It was poorly battered and very small as well. If that was a large I'm fairly sure the small must be the size of a goujon. 50p per (possibly supermarket) fish finger!! The chips all looked like ones you'd get frozen from a super market as well. The portions were small. I've seen the reviews on here and quite frankly I'm not sure how we're talking about the same place!!!

It was really busy on the day we visited - the staff were under a lot of pressure, but were still smiling. The portions were generous and the chips delicious!

You can't go wrong with the fish and chips here, piping hot tasty plenty of it and oh so tasty, sitting on the benches or walking along the beach what better way to enjoy a British classic.

We ate here a couple of times and found it very good value. It's pleasant to sit overlooking the beach whilst eating your fish and chips.

The food has been great since being taken over by new owners. The prices are reasonable and always get a good size tray of food.

A busy little fish bar they serve out of a couple of Windows of a log cabin it's a bit of a strange set up order from one window hang around the car park pick up from other window fish was ok a little greasy but ok also would have been better to have the menu board by the order window

Llansteffan has a lovely seaside feel to it so nothing better than to get take away cod & chips. There is a hut you can eat them in but as it was sunny we took them to the beach. Lovely freshly cooked fish and chips, very friendly staff. Perfect seaside experience, wouldn’t visit there again without stopping for the fish & chips at Florries

Read all the wonderful reviews so thought we would pay a visit today. Both had plaice & chips. I’m very sorry to say but I have never tasted such a poor quality piece of breadcrumbed cardboard that was called ‘plaice’ ..... this should never have been served. At nigh on £10 for two of us I’m sorry but I would never frequent there again. I cannot see that it was possible to cook this from fresh, I can only assume it was a ready purchased product from the cheaper end of the cash & carry market. I can only ask you to try this & confirm the above to be correct.

Love this chippy. Best around for miles. We travel half hour to come get chips from here and its right by the beach too. Chips and everything are full of traditional flavour and you get the small crispy chips with them too yesss.

We stayed in a property overlooking the estuary on the second week of July 2018, we visited Florries most afternoons the chips were divine, we went to Tenby on the Wednesday and tasted the cod and chips in Fecchis who boasted a 5 star award for their fish and chips , but the 6 of us all voted Florries as the best

This chippy is in a cabin at the side of the car park right next to the piece. The great location is a perfect start. The fish and chips match this start. There is a surprisingly extensive menu for what looks like a smallish cabin and everything we had was made to order. Scampi, plaice and chips all freshly cooked and excellent. A perfect end to a walk along the beach or up to the castle.

This plaice and chips reminded me of going for meals when I was a child and discovering the crispy wonder of the breading on the fish for the first time. Freshly cooked and served through a window, no inside seating here but a covered seating area there is, open fronted to see the horizon and across the water Ferryside - my next stop.

The food here is pretty good and the prices were very reasonable. It is in an ideal location. The service was a little slow mainly due to it being a busy period. I would definitely visit again.

We visited Florries at mid day, if only we had been able to wait! The smell of fish and chips was too tempting and we succumbed, along with a lot of other people.

This is a fantastic seaside chippy in the car park for the beach. They have recently built new premises, like a wooden shed, with hatches to place your order one side, & collect your order the other. It's a take away only with no seating area, although there are plenty of seats on the prom & they have put a couple of tables & chairs in like a wooden shelter next door, which is great if the weather isn't good. Or you can eat in your car!

It is very nice to go to Florries for fresh cooked food while you wait, the food is top class and the service is smiley and very welcoming. We always have food there when ever we are in Llansteffan, and we have a sausage for our dog that they put into a paper bag to stop salt and vinegar going on it, thank you ever so much. And to end congratulations on having a 5 star grade food hygiene for your premise.

Very tasty cod and chips (£6) super crispy, and served quickly. Only downside was the small portion size - not in itself a problem as I struggle to finish a standard fish and chip shop offering, but would expect lower price. Would go again though...

I have been coming to the village for many years and the standard of food at florries has improved so much in recent years, not to mention the recent refurbishment!

Vi la recomendación en la página web de turismo y pensamos que al final de un día de turismo y paseos en Florries. Incluso destinado a comer temprano para cambiar sabiendo tantos lugares comida/pubs/parada de catering puede cerrar temprano (nuestros estándares de todos modos) Así llegamos a unos 1700/15 el viernes 23 de junio sólo para encontrar que bien cerrado.

Florries has had a revamp and now has a much larger premises which enables food to be prepared and served more efficiently but also up to the standard expected.

Just what you need (and deserve!) after a long walk on the beach. These chips are crispy but best served with a douse of vinegar and shack of salt.

Great food, love the fish, scampi. Always busy in the summer months so to ensure you get what you you want arrive early as they can sell out.
