Fiskardo Restaurant in Redbridge

I went there this afternoon and there is a notice saying this restaurant closed on 30 September 2024, but the website had not been updated.

I didn't have the best experience at this restaurant. We were a big group, so we had made a prior booking, and we all arrived starving. However, service was slow, and after 15-20 minutes of us sitting down and taking a look at the menus, we were suddenly informed that due to our group size, we had to order from the party menu instead. The party menu did not have as much choice as the original menu, and in addition, we noticed that the prices were higher for the same dishes. It then took nearly an hour after we'd arrived for them to finally start bringing out some bread as they took drink orders first, changed our menu, and then took our food orders. Many of us ordered the Greek Meze Premium, which included a variety of cold and hot starters, followed by a mixed meat platter. The starter dishes were good and varied but nothing special, although we were also starving by that point. There were dips such as houmous and taramasalata, then there was salad, bread and some hot dishes such as calamari and falafel. Then, when the meat platter came, it was very disappointing. Many of the meats were dry and lacking in any flavour that it required a sauce for it to be tolerable. Also, it only came with a very small portion of potatoes to share and with no other sides (no salad, vegetables, or rice). Overall, I felt very disappointed with the quality of the food, as well as the incredibly slow and inefficient service, and I would say that the place was not that cheap either. I would not be returning here again.

Food was below satisfactory. I went in to test the place out and it’s near an event I’m organising and we’re looking for a local company dinner. Very poor impression. Constantly having to look around and wave for a while to get service when we were only 1 of 2 tables being served. Rest of the place was dead. Food was far from authentic. We had soggy kalamari and keftedes which were very bland meatballs pan fried and cooked in a sauce. Never had keftedes like this before and I won’t be again. Highlight was the pita. Won’t be returning.

I went in this restaurant many times, the food is good I can recommend the hamburger with chips , also I want to say a big Thank you to Tony Barbu always very kind and smiling, very professional staff, the prices are good, the place is amazing , after lunch or dinner you can also enjoy a walk in the park around the lake

Really great place looking out over Fairlop Waters. The lunch menu was really nice and relatively affordable.

Lovely lake front setting. Very quiet when we visited. Served outside with no issue, waiter was helpful and efficient. Food was excellent, between our party we had the chicken breast, king prawns and calamari with a selection of starters. Each dish was enjoyed equally. Quick mention of the bar next door, very reasonably priced! Parking uses the ringgo app but was free from 6pm.

Near the lake of Fireloop water, many free seats outside in front of the restaurant with a nice view, delicious food and you can visit with your dog. The staff is friendly and very attentive to the customer.

Delicious food, friendly staff, large indoor and outdoor seating areas, wide array of vegetarian options.

Had a very lovely family meal here today. The chicken a la creme was really tasty. Will definitely be back if out this way again.

It had been a while since I frequented Fiskardo and the salubrious surroundings of Fairlop Waters Country Park. As has always been the case with this and my previous visits, I was warmly greeted, seated, and attended to. The food was delicious, well presented, and of a portion that was not too filling. There is always a good atmosphere here, along with great conversation with the owner and other diners. The sights are amazing, especially on a sunny day, which adds to the dining experience. Great place to dine, talk about ones day, and have a general catch-up.

What a let down. I booked this for a party of 20 for my mums hen night. The whole reason we booked was because they said the last Friday of the month was their entertainment nights with a dj, greek dancing and plate smashing. This is stated on their website and also when I called to book and spoke to the manager he confirmed this. Upon arrival there was no other customers there. It was 7:30pm at this point so we did think it was strange. We asked our waiter if there would be entertainment, which he replied to say unfortunately they do not have any dancers but they would still make the night special for us with some form of entertainment. The entertainment must of been in the kitchen because it sure wasn't out in the restaurant. Our table was set in a horse shoe shape with split up the entire party. But we didn't question this as we thought the entertainment would be in the middle. Nope! We was first told by the first waiter becase of the size of the party we had to have the set menu - again, wasn't advised this at the time of booking. But the second waiter just told us to order what we wanted and was really helpful. After the meal (food was ok, nothing special) we spoke to a member of staff to find out when the entertainment would be happening. He said he has worked there for nearly 2 years and has never known them to do any form of entertainment. I said the manager confirmed and also states online. He said the online website hasn't been updated in over 8 years!!! We was also left to sort out the bill with a hand written recipt. Just a really shoddy night and felt so disappointment for my mum as it should have been a night to remember. They didn't even apologise. Safe to say we will NOT be returning!

Don’t really know how to describe my experience. We went for a hen and we’re only allowed the VERY limited set menu. The food was awful, you had to ask for drinks, we were never asked if we wanted to order them. No one had dessert as we were never given a dessert menu. There was a child’s party who maybe were family friends at the same time and their food looked lovely compared to ours. Don’t bother!

Looks really nice but i was just visiting the lakes and didn't eat in the restaurant, although the menu did look very inviting Plenty of free parking. Toilets were very clean.

I attended a birthday meal for a friend. We were given a set menu. However, I was unable to eat a large meal and opted for a starter alone. I was told it was okay to do this. The staff brought over olives, bread, and carrots before the meal, which were then added to the final bill without my request. I was made to pay £25 for the set meal even though I only had the prawns. When I asked the waiter to pay for what I had eaten, he told me I would still need to pay the full £25. I asked to have my main to go if I was going to be charged for it, but he refused and proceeded to be extremely rude, advising me to complain to the owner if I didn’t like it. He then called over his staff and openly discussed me with them, and they all stood in judgment giving me horrible looks. He told me if I didn’t want the olives, etc., then I should have communicated with my group because it isn’t his business to do so. I will NEVER step foot in this establishment again. Not only was the service poor, but the place was FILTHY. There was dirt in the salt, and my daughter was given prawns with hair in them, which we were told were “fibres” from someone’s clothes in the kitchen, and there’s nothing they can do about it, and that we should just accept it. The standards set here are atrocious. Frankly, I don’t know how they’re still in business with such an attitude and lack of respect for their customers and food quality. Never again! Overpriced and terrible quality

We had a delicious Sunday lunch overlooking the Lake. The service was impeccable and the food delicious. It was one of the rare occasions when my husband was defeated by the quantity. We had the Mezze platter for two which is very generous.

Could not fault. Really nice authentic food, at reasonable prices. Service was excellent. Lovely decor. Highly recommended

We had our wedding party at this restaurant and from the time of preparation to the actual day we only received the best service and advice. Socrates made the whole experience so smooth and on the day the whole team were very professional, helpful and supportive. All my guests praised the food, the restaurant and the service. Highly recommend this venue.

We came to celebrate my Mums Birthday and the whole experience was exceptional. Great food, great service, very flexible and accomodating. The Kleftikho (slow cooked lamb) melted in your mouth. Generous portions and great value for money. Also a great location with a view overlooking Fairlop waters. This place is a hidden gem. Highly recommended.

Great coffee and snacks! Would definitely come here again - chilled atmosphere + F1 on the TV. What's better than that? :)

I'm afraid I can only review one star as we had planned to eat here after our trip to Agua Action, and according to Google it was open every day of the week. I've now just been told it is closed Monday and Tuesday, so have updated the opening times on Google maps, but the restaurant should've done that.

Was due to attend this Friday 18TH August for a friends wedding. This had been booked for over six months and a deposit paid. My wife and the bride to be attended on the 11th August to hand in the seating plan. At this point they were told that the agreed price when booking was no longer viable for the restaurant and the price had increased by 40%. I appreciate in these times ingredients and costs alter however the restaurant made no attempt to contact the bride to be in the six months since booking. I can only surmise that the owner hoped with a week to go they would be desperate and agree to anything. Thankfully an alternative venue has been found.

If I could give -5 I would. Never got the chance to eat there as I had booked for my wedding meal for 61 people. We booked 6 months ago to have the conservatory. I had been in 3 times to check everything was OK not once was there a problem until tonight 10/8/23. I'm getting married 18/8/23. First manager tried to say the price had gone up by £8 per person with less to eat. Then he said we hadn't paid a deposit!! We paid £100. Then he said he didn't take the booking, when he did. Everything we pointed out to him he called us a liar and in so many words swore and told us to find somewhere else. All this with 1 week to go before I get married. So be warned if you book for more than 4 people be prepared to be let down.

Amazing location Interio is ok-ish Food is edible ( just about ) Mushrooms and Calimari straters where very nice , however lamb and chicken kebab was a bit of disappointment . Chicken was to dry and lamb lacked taste previously it was better

Upon arriving the staff were moody and unwelcoming. Our mains (meat dishes) were raw - all of them! When we gave the waiter feedback he looked at us like we offended him. No apology that we were served uncooked meat that also smelled bad. We were discounted 2 meals, however left hungry and disappointed. Plus regardless of the discount the overall bill was not cheap and really wasn’t worth the money at all.

Location is great . Food is lovely but the service needs addressing . Minor issue initially with no lime juice for tonic amd lime. The young boy took drinks order for 6 but had to come back to ask again . Had to ask for humus with pitta that came to table on arrival . That arrived 10 min later . we had to ask for the bill 4 times. it wasn't particularly busy . on the 5th time one of our party went up to ask amd was rudely dismissed saying "chill out" We gave up amd got up to stand by the till where we stood for a while before being asked if we wanted a table! Anyway no tip. Would go again just to see if service different

It's a nice place, the staff were good. The toilets were a bit of a disgrace, especially the ladies toilets. But apart from that a satisfactory experience.

Very hurried place too much going on to be attentive to people food was expensive for what it was only do one brand of coffee and that was burnt would not go again

Whilst the service and ambience was decent unfortunately the food was a let down. The food was cold and didn't taste the greatest. And whilst the waiter acted promptly to take the food back to the kitchen it left us wanting a pizza and chips.

The manger in the restaurant is horrible. Unprofessional, Rude. The service is bad absolutely wasted this place with the rude and unprofessional service. One star too much

The worst place I've ever been to eat something. Fresh Solomon and fresh cut chips.. That fish was overcooked and few chips slapped on that plate and guess what they forgot to put salad as per menu. They brought some salad on different plate even worse than that fish and chips.. When the owner come along to see what was the problem and we did explain to him about 18£ overcooked fish and just some chips here and there. He said the clients aren't his boss and he is very busy and brought 2more plates of expired salad just to shut us up. Good luck to his business and his busy days.. Next time when I will pass by I will go to McDonald's.

Worst experience ever, you pay for food like you dine in a 5 star restaurant, the food doesn't look eatable really, the service is down. For the price they charge i really expected to be woow,but is a disappointing place. The view of the lake is nice.

Great place if you're struggling for somewhere on a Saturday evening. They accommodated us without a booking. There was a large gathering for a small baby. Cake. Music. It was well catered. We had a mixed grill and I had the traditional kleftico (lamb shank). The warm pitta and pickles are served almost immediately which is brilliant if you arrive hungry. The hummus was yummy. Staff allow you privacy to eat yet available if you need anything. Great for Barkingside and on a lovely ground. In the summer it will be so nice with the view of the lake at sunset

Had a lovely time at this venue in Ilford for my Cousin's 60th Birthday - where does the time do. We surprised her by far. She was gob-spanked when she started recognising people. It was a lovely evening who everyone enjoyed. The food was lovely as we're all the guests - some of the first time of meeting. It was a lovely atmosphere that was enjoyed by all.

Great evening normally there is a Greek night theme but wasn't tonight as there was a wedding there tonight but we had a great night we were included in there celebration waiters were lovely and friendly and joined in food was lovely great atmosphere highly recommend 😊

The restaurant is hidden inside another building with no clear markings nor directions to it. Not very accessible either. Staff friendly and food was good. 3 stars to show finding it hard to access and find.

Very rude and Disrespectful management team the guy with the blue polo t-shirts in his middle age such a disgrace need more training for working in hospitality industry. mentioned to the bar area the incident but they said restaurant is not connected with them Also ordered chips was good so ordered back again came back after long time not cook properly they forgot the order.

Really enjoyed it - lovely food, reasonably priced for the quality and portions and cooked fresh. Friendly staff and a lovely view by the lake. Perfect for a summer's day lunch or a nice evening. And what I loved the most is the short but sweet menu - makes ordering less stress and the service more efficient.

We celebrated my birthday. The staff tried to chase us away a very soon as start my dinner with friends. Nobody from waiters take care about my table. We going there every weekend but they smash our trust in restaurant. I’m very upset.

Totally disappointed tonight from the service. I had my birthday celebration tonight but none waitress come to our table after first delivery. We had reservation but they putted us on table that was in area where a louder team of ladies arranged decoration for party tomorrow. They tried to evict us by asking to pay our bill an hour and a half before the end of working hours. Taking into account that we are regular clients there I will not recommend them again.

Great food and staff who catered for us, a large group booking of 28 people. They did a brilliant job to get all the food out hot without anyone waiting.

Booked a table of 14 people with the owner to be called 3 before to be told the place will be closed and they can’t accommodate me now I’m stuck with 14 people to feed with no restaurant ! Definitely wouldn’t recommend here the staff was rude and said if I wanted to pay for the chefs to come in and the waiters I would have to pay out of my own pocket !! Avoid

We came here around lunch time and decided to order keftedes in a tomato sauce with chips. My companions ordered mixed grill to share only to be told that they only serve the 'blue menu' (or the menu on the front) during lunch, which is fair enough. So instead we ordered a chicken shish and a lamb shish along with the keftedes and chips. The keftedes/meatballs were only a starter but we're disappointingly plated. They were just on a plate with tomato sauce poured on top. It was pretty messy looking. The sauce was delicious and so were the meatballs but they almost tasted Swedish! The lamb and chicken shish were delicious and came with rice and salad. We then ordered two deserts; cheesecake (which was lemon flavour) and profiteroles. The cheesecake was very 'lemony' and tasted tangy and fresh. The profiteroles, on the other hand, it was quite unfortunate. The 'whipped cream' on the side was melted and was just a load of froth. Half of the profiteroles were tasty and had nice cold whipped cream in the middle. The other 3 were filled with the 'whipped cream froth' and were warm in the centre. It seems that they were badly microwaved but I'm not sure. I would like to add that I have come here in the evening before and had a great, well presented meal and the profiteroles were delicious so I'm not sure if if was just a bad day or time, but I would try it again soon.

Friendly staff and tasty meal. Website out of date so lunchtime menu was reduced in dishes and very large increase in price. Now £19.50 for lunchtime special. Drinks expensive. Wont be going back for lunch.

Came here for Mother’s Day. Very busy restaurant, waiting staff rushed off their feet. I explained to a waitress that my son has an allergy to egg and asked for suggestions on what he could have. She responded that he could only have the chicken kebab. According to her, the pitta bread also contained egg. I know pitta bread doesn’t contain egg so I was surprised she said this. She hadn’t checked properly and was saying things from the top of her head. Another waiter came to take our order and explained that my son could have ANYTHING off the menu except from the mousakka- this was the only dish that contained egg. So we got two completely different pieces of advice for a serious egg allergy. Once the order was placed, it took at least 45 minutes for our food to arrive. My kids were hungry and ended up eating the bread from the bread basket. When the food eventually did arrive, they were too full to eat it all. Due to the inconvenience, they took £13 off the bill. Food was ok, nothing special. Won’t be returning and do not recommend.

It was my first visit and it was great. The lake makes a fantastic view. The food was excellent. The staff was friendly. Their service was great. I will dine in there again.

Lovely family run restaurant with authentic Greek food. Bonus points chicken and lamb served is halal. It has a beautiful lake view and very child freindly.

I recommend these professionals. I had a birthday there and it was the best choice. my guests were satisfied, we even got a loudspeaker from the owner and we could play our own music in a small room. thank you all team Fiskardo you are best 👌 👍 😍

Nice place. We spend few hours with our friends. I recomand this place if you like greek food.

This Greek restaurant is distinguished by its large size and lovely lakeside setting. The (Greek) cuisine is old-fashioned but well done and the 2-course menu is a bargain. Very friendly staff did everything to accommodate us. They'd run out of Retsina wine but came up with a good Greek white alternative. The Greek coffee was authentic and strong, not watered down for supposed British tastes. Not the restaurant's fault but parking is a hassle, having to be paid for by mobile phone.

It's a lovely restaurant with a blue water out door view. More enjoyable on a sunny day. The staff are very friendly. Non judgemental very polite

Great place for a day out by the lake while enjoying a great meal, staff are lovely and caring always looking after you and the seafood is just amazing. Do recommend !
