Fish Dish Fish and Chips Restaurant in Suffolk Coastal

Greeted warmly with a smile and asked if we wanted to sit in or take away. We wanted to sit in and were quickly shown to a table. We were brought warm bread and hummus on the house which is lovely to nibble while choosing your meal. We both had fish pie with peas. The fish pie is a complete triumph. It’s packed full of lovely fish and potatoes and cheese and sauce, it’s perfect. Staff lovely, food lovely and ambience also great. We’ll be back.

Appalling courier service, delivery did not arrive. No contact from the courier and restaurant confirmed the order was collected.

Everything was Superb, for me perhaps smaller plates for the chicken Kiev maybe? Definitely worth a visit here and will be coming back again!

Nice food but cod a bit hit and miss recently

Superb cod and chips. Served straight from the pan so very hot. Service is very attentive and efficient.

For some reason the driver wanted to leave the delivery in my driveway not bring it to the door! In the end he got his wife to get out of the car and bring it to the door. I do have a dog a beagle a very non aggressive breed but I had him under control and hold of his collar this driver should not be used again to deliver to me.

Never had fish dish before but my goodness I will again! I got a couple of extra bits in the bag that I hadn’t ordered which was lovely, and the food tasted amazing! The battered sausages actually had batter on them and was delicious 😋

Me and my family ate here last night and it was absolutely sensational. My little boy has allergies and the chef came out and spoke to us in person about what he could prepare for him. The food was beautifully cooked and served by incredibly friendly staff. The portion sizes are insane, a small cod and chips will be more than enough for most adults and the kids portions were very generous. We will definitely eat here again.

This is our go to place for fish and chips when in Felixtstowe. It was before it changed hands a few years ago and still is, with attentive service and lovely fish and chips. Also in a good location with the beach across the road. Would recommend every time.

The food is always delicious here. The batter is full of flavour and seasoned well. Lovely welcoming staff, very attentive. Grear childrens menu too . Make sure you arrive hungry because the portions are huge and you are going to want to eat every single bite... trust me!!

Really shocked ,never had a bad word on this,place , but Chips were not edible, hard and dry , and the batter on the sausage ,I scraped off as tasted like burnt old fat , think I will give this place a miss for a while ,so disappointed

We visited today with a group of older people that use the community bus service. This was our first time of visiting the Fish Dish for our monthly lunch club. The staff were friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them. The food was freshly prepared, very tasty and well presented. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome. A big thank you to you all, we will certainly be looking to visit again in 2025.

Easily the best chippy in Felixstowe. I know that’s a big claim for a seaside town full of them, but trust me! I’ve been having chips from here for the last few months and have never been disappointed, they are perfect every time, slightly crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy in the middle. Tonight after once again being let down by a Just Eat driver not turning up, the manager could not have been more helpful. Also their hummus is amazing. Cant recommend highly enough!

Amazing food . We had Haddock & chips came with tartar sauce bread and butter. Delicious. A complimentary dish of hummus & pitta bread . Which was a nice touch . And a really good pot of Yorshire tea which was the best I’d had all day . Staff are so nice ,very attentive nothing too much trouble. We love this place If you’re in Suffolk visit Felixstowe make this one of your go to places .

Excellent fish and chips in Felixstowe. Food is always fresh with plenty of options to choose from, large and small, and not only fish. Service is very friendly. We will definitely be making the 1hr20m journey just so we can eat here again!

Driver had problems with his WiFi & wanted my WiFi code & password which i refused and told him to take the food back if he can't deliver to me. Eventually we managed to get a 4 digit code and he delivered my food. I would never give my code out to anyone

Oh, wow! What can I say? A Chippy Lunch on a Saturday at the Seaside sounds like Bliss! We were led to our table and were given complimentary Turkish Flatbread and Houmus. I ordered medium Cod & Chips, and my wife went for Chicken Parmo, Chips, and Salad. For a moment, with Parmo's on the Menu, I thought I was in Middlesborough, not Felixtowe, but hey, we are game for a laugh. The Cod was loverley, a great light Crispy Batter, and the Chips were amazing, all cooked in Beef Dripping. This came with bread, butter, Homemade Tartar Sauce and a Wedge of Lemon 🍋 Lorraine's Parmo was Huge! For those who don't know, a Parmo is a Grilled Chicken Breast covered in Bèchamel Sauce and Cheese, same wonderful Chips and a proper Salad, not just a pile of Weeds heaped up from a bag from Asco's, she had to speak to the Chef to find out what was in it. The Staff are really friendly and helpful, the Resteraunt itself is on two tiers, Dogs are allowed downstairs and I think they even allow Children. Well worth driving an hour from Newmarket for a Lunch or an early Tea. Open from 11:30am to 21:00.

Food was very good except the piece of Rock Eel that I ordered. It was certainly large, as ordered but the quality of the fish itself wasn't great. Rock Eel, a traditional fish in this part of the country (where I grew up) has a single bone running the length of the portion. It's a really meaty fish unlike anything else I know. It can be a real treat but in this case, there wasn't much meat on the bone and what there was didn't taste that great. I suspect that I was just unlucky so would still recommend anyone to give it a try. I also ordered a pint of Adnams Bitter, a fine local ale, somewhat damaged by being served chilled, instead of at cellar temperature (which it absolutely should be). The restaurant came highly recommended so I was rather disappointed.

The fish and chips were tasty, with a generous portion, but the service felt rushed. The staff seemed in a hurry to take orders, and I noticed several diners having their plates removed as soon as they finished, even though others at the same table were still eating. It almost felt as if they had a shortage of plates, which disrupted the flow of the meal and made the experience feel a bit hurried.

Went as a group of 8 friends. Everything was perfect... And.. very friendly..

We visited early evening around 5pm which was a good move as we just beat the crowd. Met and shown to our upstairs window seat by a very pleasant young waitress who took our drinks order immediately. We then ordered Fish and Chips and Battered sausage and chips with curry sauce. Food arrived very promptly, was nice and hot and delicious, good seaside grub. The restaurant itself was clean and well maintained and the seating was not crammed in close. A pleasant space to dine in. The bill worked out at around £15 per head including a drink which was good value.

So good we returned the next evening for more of the same.Lovely food,friendly service good value for mobey.Skate was the best my husband has ever had ( and he's a self appointed connoisseur )

Had a lovely dinner this evening with the family. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, speedy service and amazing food at a decent price! Can highly recommend the haddock and chips, Chicken Parma and calamari rings. The kids menu has got a great selection so there is something for everyone. Always a treat!

The best fish and chips weve ever had. Portion sizes were perfect. Huge choice of meals. Beautifully cooked with great service. Dogs welcome. Our chihuahua was given a plate of boiled sausage which he loved. The waiter helped us take the dog pram up and down the stairs. A great experience. Highly recommended.

They put the wrong sauce.We ordered a a gourmet burger which included a soggy bun and a tasteless patty.We used to order all the time and remember the time when the burgers were good,they were not messing items of you're order and were always on time

We had a very good lunch at Fish Dish this week to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Attentive, friendly service. They have a lot to choose from on the menu & I like the fact you can have fish not in batter. On this occasion though we all had battered fish & chips which were delicious. Very fresh fish & perfect, non greasy chips. Good size portions, the small was enough for me, fresh, tasty sides. Good range of drinks. The restaurant has had a bit of a refurb & was very clean, as were the toilets. They have a dog friendly area downstairs which we sat in as we had two dogs with us. Mats/bowls for the dogs. They also have a lovely top floor restaurant with sea views. We often have a takeaway & that comes in a box with lemon wedges, services etc.

Cod chips and peas , wife had gravy . Cod and chips were really nice peas were a bit bland. The gravy was nice but much too thick .

Well I was originally disappointed when I sat at the table as I notice the prices at the front do not match the prices when you're actually inside. They're a tad pricey for my liking but the quality definitely matches. Really lovely hearty food. Nice service, the music could do with being changed, I don't think classical music really suits the place to be honest. Overall very happy and very full. Thanks team

Honestly the best fish and chips you can get. Eaten here several times on our yearly visit to Felixstowe and they simply cannot be beaten on being the yummiest fish and chips you can buy!

Visited on August Bank Holiday weekend for Sunday lunch. Felixstowe was very busy with day trippers so the restaurant was lively, but we were seated straight away. Food was great - my cod was fresh with a light crispy batter. Regular size was more than enough for me! The fish pie was generously filled and had plenty of prawns in the melted cheese topping. Whole tail scampi on the mixed fried platter was nicely cooked. Washed it all down with a bottle of Efes beer and a pot of tea. We’ll definitely make the trip from Ely again!

I can’t speak highly enough of Fish Dish! I ordered food through Just eat but when it was supposed to arrive I got a text to say it was cancelled! I called fish dish to confirm the order had been cancelled - it indeed had! The manager asked me about my order and was upset I had been let done! He told me that he didn’t want upset customers and would make me another order. He delivered it to me himself! It was a horrendous day throwing it down with rain! Such a sweet guy! Thank you so much! I will be returning and so nice to know there are still some lovely people in this world! We will be back! 5 stars!

What a shame ! Food was lovely but since new owners the staff are unfriendly, teenagers serving with an attitude slamming plates down and saying Enjoy whilst walking off in a 'couldn't care less attitude'. Been to eat there several times since its changed hands and although the food and portion size is very good it lacks any atmosphere and your left feeling your doing them a favour. Unlikely we will go back unless the staff greatly improve.

Love Turkish way of cooking fish flavoursome

We had fish and chips here and they were excellent! The fish was nice and moist beautifully cooked with nice, thin crisp batter. The chips were also nicely cooked and not at all greasy. They were served with homemade tartare sauce and a slice of bread and butter. The restaurant and toilets were both clean and hygienic. The photo is of a small portion size.

great seat next to a window with a view of the sea, the portions are very good and sizeable, fish is delicious and i really enjoyed the mozzarella sticks with sweet chilli sauce

Went shopping in Fxt and decided on a walk up the beach from Cavendish end to Spa Pavilion. I'd never noticed Fish Dish before (not that we are regular visitors) and thought a sit-down meal away from the 'Felixstowe Air Force' was a better bet: Why do those stupid people feed the damn seagulls??? We stopped at the 'Wait to be seated' sign and were ushered (up six steps) to a window table within seconds, from where we had a lovely view of pier and sea. We chose a pot of tea for two, small and regular cod & chips (comes with slice of bread & butter and tartare sauce) with added garden peas. Both service and food were absolutely top notch and cost forty quid, which was fine for restaurant fayre. We really enjoyed it and made us think we've been missing out on a little gem right there.

Excellent food,wonderful service particularly the young girl who poured my lager a perfect pint from Adnams. Not just the functional restaurant conversation from her or any of her senior colleagues either, good to see that we aren't just a bunch of robots but human beings. Eclectic sound track as well, vive la difference! Keep up the good work.

We had a memorable time spent here at Fish Dish restaurant. The food was so delicious and a short waiting time to be prepared. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant looks gorgeous, its design resonates well with the sea side. Will definitely dine there again next time when we visit Felixstowe beach.

I would highly recommend this restaurant, for service, food being exceptional and location being opposite the pier is perfect! The manager and staff are very welcoming and you won’t find better food anywhere else. We had the scampi and scampi with cod bites dishes. Big portions and fresh! It’s our top choice in Felixstowe. Having been several times we aimed for "Fish Dish" after a leisurely walk in Felixstowe. We rang an hour before to book a table and were quickly seated. The server did not rush us to order which made us feel relaxed. Our granddaughter ordered the burger which came with chips, salad and Cole slaw which looked very appetising. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the Whitby scampi and I had a small rock eel which was quite big enough for me. All staff were very attentive, polite and welcoming. Toilets were clean and well serviced. Only a small point:- wholemeal or granary bread would have ben appreciated.
