Finsbury Park Cafe in Haringey

Rude staff, left me waiting for over 35 minutes for a coffee. And serving everyone else. Wierd attitude towards me and was warmer to everyone else. Maybe racial bias. I also find it wierd that the owner on other reviews tries to discredit the long wait times with claims of watching the cctv? How would you know what any of us look like on cctv? Please just staff friendler people and probable more hands on deck?

Conveniently located coffee prices are pretty high but decent. Issue is not the cafes fault but the building design makes it so loud it’s really hard to have a conversation. So much so your ears are left following a visit

Really lovely place to stop off when in the park. Friendly staff with nice atmosphere and music playing in the background. Delicious hot chocolate made from real chocolate buttons and tasty home made food! Reasonably priced, I would definitely recommend and will be visiting again!

The only cafe who doesn’t have spoon. Unfriendly staff and not so clean… such a pity, the spot could be a gem

Came for the hot chocolate, but only a takeaway as the staff here are unusually rude. They make it obvious they don’t want to be there and they don’t want you there either

Forever let down by it's attitude to service

Really lovely food - we had the chicken + chorizo wrap, pulled pork burger, and tuna jacket potato. Portion sizes are good, all dishes came with a plentiful and varied mixed salad. Staff were great - realising we were ordering for children, they double-checked a couple of things (e.g. hot sauce on the wrap). Whilst quite quiet at 11:30, by 12:15 the cafe was full of families and all staff working hard to bring food out within 5-10 mins of ordering. They have a selection of books for children too.

Staff very rude waited almost 40 minutes for a coffee and watching everyone but me get a coffee. Noticed they were alot colder to people of colour. And the coffee tasted awful. Fire the front of house.

Nice place, but I have never seen so many staff serve so a few people.

Great atmosphere. Sadly, the quality of food getting worse and worse. Cost cutting to the point of making the food rubbish?

Waited for 30 minutes for my order and ended up being the wrong thing. When prompted they were incredibly unhelpful and quite dismissive. Wouldn't recommend.

Waited 30 minutes for a hot chocolate last to be served as we ordered it in and when it finally came was in a takeaway cup? Asked for the right one but they couldnt be bothered to make a new one. Staff were very unhelpful. Probably overworked and tierd but regardless hot chocolate tasted rubbish and no kindness. Also charged 10p more than is listed on menu.. this place has really declined since I was younger. Would avoid if possible.

Food was okay. Unfortunately the woman who served me was not pleasant, with everybody.

Very disappointing experience today. We come here regularly and have never had any issues before. When we visited it wasnt busy.We witnessed the person behind the counter being extremely rude to a customer, so much so that some of the other staff were embarrassed by her truly unprofessional behaviour. She looked SO miserable and clearly didnt want to be there. As my friend remarked later, why put her front of house? No people skills at all. My friend found a spray cleaner near the kitchen and used paper napkins to clean the table. We spent £36 and would have expected better although the food WAS good in all aspects. Normally there is a lobely, jolly guy with dark, curly hair who greets us like old friend and makes everyone have a good experience. Not today.

Stopped by on a Sunday noon. The place was packed with screaming children, and it didn’t help that the chairs are bar rental scraping across the stone floor. Everything feels a bit grimy. Wouldn’t recommend.

Lovely spot with outdoor seating in the park. Coffee was only £1.40.

Has become very poor since I was there few years back, shame. Owners need to invest more in café and hygiene. Got photos with flies on display food... Not just one fly but loads

The food and drinks are good and the prices are fair. The issue is the counter routinely descends into chaos, resulting in long queues and waits. Staff have meltdowns over any inconvenience (a card reader not working, someone wants their coffee done again, they are having a colleague spat) and we, the people in the queue, are the ones paying the price. Roll the dice and take your chances. This is the Fawlty Towers of north London. It’s endearing, and sometimes extremely frustrating.

The staff were so lovely and welcoming and couldn’t have been more helpful. The boys really enjoyed their food. Portions were big too

Sometimes it has long queues, especially after parkrun.

Friendly staff and good food. They do need to be much faster, inside and out, with clearing up food, cleaning floors, etc. The outside tables were overrun with pigeons and they even came inside! Ugh.

Best fish finger sandwich I’ve ever had! A lovely local with a pleasant atmosphere. Very kids friendly, with a nice kids menu and lots of books to read.

Good for a coffee, maybe a cake on your way through but I wouldn't stop for a main meal. While there are options they look rushed and a bit space Staff look like they don't want to be there which put a damper on the cafe, even with a good number of people and kids there. Sullen and interested, made you want to get out fast. Hot drinks are to be taken with you when you order, there is not table service for drinks, even when food is ordered. Staff don't explain this which lead to drinks sitting idle and going cold before people realised and came back. No effort from staff to explain this, nor are saucers provided to aid people carrying cups about the cafe

Very bad service today..i ordered a full breakfast to seat outside. The girl brought me the breakfast without forks, knife nor tissue, so i had to go back inside asking for it while there was already a crow at my table trying to eat from it. Once i got back to the table feeling pissed off already i realised she didn't bring my tea. So had to go back in again asking her if she forgot my tea and she went "oh yeah" and the tea was forgotten by the counter, cup filled just half of its size and ultra strong, semi cold. I used to like this cafe but it's going down hill for me. Also there's a wavey hair blondish waitress always looking pissed off and unfriendly.

Nice open space with plenty of room to sit. The staff were nice and the atmosphere was good.

I ordered two lattes take away. (3.10£ each) We couldn’t taste any coffee - I asked for an extra shot, but nothing changed… They charged me an extra 1.2£ for that. Staff rude.

I was just in the caffe with my 2 and half year old . We come often and staff is usually nice with us. My son always gets a ball from the machines outside. Today doh the supervisor was so rude and ruthless. My son was crying and she said no for a pound cashbacks. Absolutely horrible I mean she could say it nicely not shouting and getting so angry .. manners and a good heart never hurt anyone

Wasn't my usual cafe when I was a student but I came back to the area to do Parkrun and we went here afterwards and I have to say the quality of the coffee is massively improved since I last came.

Huge surpise in the middle of a municipal park - a place apparently run with real care. Simple, unfussy, but the food was excellent, staff were very friendly and helpful, and the place was clean (hot water in toilets!).

Nice to sit outside and have a coffee. But don't order anything beyond that. The overpriced sandwiches take them about 30 minutes to make. The lady working at the counter is rude and was impatient about me taking a couple of minutes to decide my order. The rest of the staff seem nice!

Great local cafe with super friendly staff. Very child friendly with a small library of kids books inside. Perfect place for a quick coffee in the centre of Finsbury Park. Highly recommended.

Dogs not allowed in. Many owners allow dogs wandering off lead. Not a relaxed experience as a result as a responsible dog owner. Also coffee very mediocre. Chep but poor

Just my sort of place, plain non-fancy food available as well as the more complex. Wholemeal bread which I prefer instead of sourdough for example. Friendly and helpful staff, quick service. Kids welcome and very family feel. Display of kids' books. Toilets nearby and boating lake also right next to cafe! 3 play parks close by in sight from cafe terrace.

Stopped off for a hot chocolate and cake. Very popular cafe.

This is such a lovely place to stop by for a coffee or meet up with friends for lunch. Both the food and drinks are great, and the portions are big, so you get your money's worth. Recommend getting a coffee and a muffin and sitting with a book for a while!

When I ate with my family at 4:45pm in Saturday. Cafe Staff starts moping floor one hour before closing time. I was feeling bad to be there.

Nice Cafe, this review is more about the fantastic waterfowl in the pond nearby. Honestly, some of the finest Canada Goose North of the Thames. Coots as always bringing the side down, but the few Egyptian Geese put in a great performance. Cafe lovely, the show is really in the pond

Got a smoothie & coffee. Good to grab a quick one & sit outside overlooking the waterbody & birds, kids playing.

My daughter and I, felt humiliated today 18th of June 2023,15:30 afternoon. We were looking for food to eat and some drinks and when we were ready we approached the young man at the counter said we’re ready to order. He just looked at us and ignored us. So we proceeded to the counter to tell to the lady that we wanted to order as she see us but didn’t respond and instead served the people behind us in the queue and took their order. I felt so embarrassed but didn’t say anything and just left with my daughter. They were so rude! Im not sure why!

You would think a busy Sunday morning would be a good time to make sure your coffee is on point. The flat white tasted like it was made from a cheap sachet, no aroma or flavour at all. Maybe the machine wasn't cleaned properly from the day before? They get a star because it was a good price for the location, the service was okay and the cakes looked really good so might try them next time.

Prices are high, and options limited. Went for brown toast to accompany my morning cuppa.

The cafe is located in a good spot within Finsbury park. I got a Moka and it was nice. Service was good. The place smells funny though. It may need some refurbishing in the next few years.

I am giving 3 stars as the staff were very polite and the cafe itself is cute. However I cannot lie, the mocha was very bad. I couldn’t even drink two sips. And please I am not one to leave negative reviews but it is very important to give honest feedback. And I know my mochas and coffees really well, it was truly the worst I’ve ever tasted I’m so sorry, but please work on it 🥲 Response to cafe reply- It wasn’t just me who didn’t like the drink, and I did ask for the drink to be remade and the new drink tasted just as bad. Please take on constructive feedback with grace. Like I said, I rarely leave reviews and never negative ones but the drink was so bad I had to give my honest feedback. The purpose of which is for you to improve it nothing else.

Fry potatoes, hot dog were utterly tasteless, salad was okish at first, but too much vinegar in sauce in greek salad (which supposed to be on olive oil) the only bright side was smoothie Melon Refresher, which was actually quite good. Totally not recommend this place the kitchen is rubbish here.

Good quality of food. Tasty and made fresh. The portion was smaller than I expected for a "Grand" breakfast however I'd say it was adequate to price considering the quality of ingredients. From different breakfasts I've tried in different places in a similar price range this had the best quality of sausages.

Very good good but does get very busy at times and that can mean a bit of a wait. Great location for all the family.

We used to love going here, hadnt been fir a while so was surprised with their rather cheap looking menu (not cheap on price though) there used to be a lovely menu, now its all fast fast fast food, horrible chips, soggy wrap, and no customer care. I think there is no longer any customer satisfaction wanted, a victim if its own success, we shall not be eating there again, so expensive for cheap fast food. You should go back to being a proper cafe! Really disappointed 😞

Friendly staff quick service but quite expensive I would recommend buying food and drinks in the Tesco or Lidl located on the main road entrance to the park right next to Finsbury Park Station

The selection of food and drinks are great, and they come at a good price, along with ice cream which is really good, with variety, the place is cosy, clean and a great location, as it is great to eat outside on the benches or on the grass, and the employee's are also friendly, generally a great visit. Recommend going here 100%.

Perfect place for sunny brunch on picnic tables in the middle of Finsbury park. Took vegetable korma and it was great.

I really did not enjoy the cake I ordered, gloopy and way too sweet, they would not give me an alternative! It was Vegan Carrot Cake, I have had some very nice vegan carrot cake from another venue so I know it can be different! On a subsequent visit, someone knowing that I did not like the cake, offered to replace it, which was kind of them and I will visit again!
