Best chippy in town. Very clean and tidy. The food is cooked fresh rather than sat under the heat lamp for hours

Amazing food! We had fish and chips, chicken leg with chips and my favourite chips with chicken curry. Everything was lovely. Portions are quite big so they're definitely great for sharing. Lovely people working there were quite busy so we needed to wait a bit longer but it was definitely worth it! We're adding this place to our list of the best fish and chips shops ❤️

We've ate from here quite a few times and we've not had any bad food yet (like some other reviews) but I would say the food is average (maybe abit above average sometimes) and as long as you don't expect much more than that you won't be unhappy. The wait for food can be a bit longer than other chippies but it's not bad.

Food cold,tinned peas horrendous,fish very thin opened it hardly any batter,all went in the bin,disgusting, never go again

Popular place. Generous portions but the 35 minute wait is just too much. I appreciate people want their fish fresh but if you know a Friday is going to be busy, bang a load of fish in the fryer like other chippies and keep them in the warmer. They won’t be there for long. Poor girl working behind the counter was rushed off her feet but she was calm and very apologetic about the long wait.

We visited Here after hiking up Snowdon as we wanted something we didn't have to prepare and we were staying locally. What I would say is the portions were larger than we expected even though we had small portions. We unfortunately didn't manage to eat it all and I certainly had to sacrifice some chips in favour of the fish. All was cooked fresh on order so piping hot when we got it back to our accommodation.

Chips were over cooked and soggy. Not fresh despite the order being cooked to order. Cheese and onion pie was like cheese sauce in pastry, no solid at all. Battered sausage like no other, was like wrapped in a soggy pancake! Weird. Beans luke warm. Overall was just about ok but not nice enough to make me want to use again. We chose here for meal as all rhe chinese takeaways had such bad reviews. Should have gone by other reviews and given it a miss.

I couldn't really call them chips,they were scraps. Possibly the worst chips I've ever had.

Very generous fish portion, nicely cooked. Good standard fish and chips.

Easy review this. The fish is gigantic could easy split 2 to feed 3 people however just a little over cooked and a bit greasy. Chips warm but greasy and soft. Everything I guess cooked in same fat which could be the issues here. 3/5 not the best but ok

If I'd never been here before I would have given it 1 or 2 stars. Having waited for fresh fried fish and chips (10 minutes no problem), the fish had hardly any batter on it and what it did have was dark brown/ over cooked. The chips were definitely not freshly cooked, all a bit soft and if anything previously over cooked. I don't like to criticise this place, not least that my neice was treated really well here when she worked here when in school, but come on, the food was way less quality than I've had from numerous fish & chip shops over the oast months....

Everything is cooked to order. You have to wait, but it is well worth it.

Always busy, which is a good sign. Their freshly cooked food is never less than excellent. Highly recommended.

The food is beautiful and people are queuing up for their food. Atmosphere bit silent. Other than that good place to eat

Decent chippy - food tastes ok. Went after work (about 6pm) and had a good half an hour wait. Nothing wrong with that of course, it was just busy. Staff were nice enough and it's not badly priced at all.

Massive queues on a Friday evening as this place never pre-cooks anything. While great for freshness, it means the early evening rush has long waits while fish is fried. Fish is expensive.

Dogs were in the establishment. Dog lover myself I even have one but would never take my dog into a food establishment it being takeaway or dine in. Last time ordering from here.

Beautifully cooked fresh fish 'n'chips - tasted delicious and the fish batter was cooked to perfection. Very enjoyable. If ever we're this way again, we'll certainly be stopping for more.

On holiday in the area and kept seeing queues out the door whenever we went by. I can see why now after literally just finishing my fish and chips. Absolutely delicious and the best I have had in some time. Everything was cooked fresh to order. Fish was perfectly cooked and not slimey at all and chips were nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Hubby said his sausage and chips were excellent too. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend this fish and chip shop 😋 👍🏻

Diabolical. Never waited so long for a couple of cones of chips for the kids (I think they must have grown the potatoes from seed before peeling, chipping and frying them). Never again.

We visited earlier this week whilst on holiday in the area, shorter wait than expected when fish was cooked to order, massive portion, lovely spicy curry, well cooked food and friendly staff. Definitely worth visiting again when in the area.

loooonng wait for food and not cheap,although to be fair,I'm a frequent visitor to Wales from the wirral and prices do tend to be cheaper at home,so I'm judging prices to what I would pay at home but staff are smiley and friendly and locals in the queue were smiley and friendly too.

Having recently moved into the area thought we would try this fish and chip takeaway.We ordered the homemade chicken curry with chips.Absolutely delicious!We will be back very soon!

Probably the best fish and chips in the world

I'm old enought, and know what good fish and chips are like,but unfortunatly they are not here in Ruthin !Last time for some reason I was given a generous portion one hole fish and a half.It was more quantity than quality.It was flat thin greasy ,and tasteless.Chips were the same,and after only two mouthfulls ended up in the bin ! But there is a PLUS here,Iwould have the chips only with there excellant Chicken Curry,with lovely chunks of chicken in it.In fact the best chicken curry i've had.Also nice fried chicken legs and breast .I have rated on there f + ch performance only

What a find ! Fab fish n chips for 2 :) Although there was a wait, a queue speaks volumes, everything cooked fresh to order and OMG was sooo worth the wait. The loveliest giant fish portion in a lovely crispy batter and equally as giant portion of chips, beautifully crisp (which is a rarity). My only criticism was that the portions were a bit big! Ha Ha x Thank you for a lovely tea :) x

Lovely traditional style chippy. Huge portions of well cooked fish and reasonable prices. There's always a queue outside this place and with good reason too. There can be a wait of 10-15 minutes during busy periods but food is always cooked fresh to order. Easily my favourite chippy in Ruthin!

Got extremely rudely spoke to because I was Irish and got told that my money wasnt good enough because it was northern Irish sterling and then proceeded to say the police at been round warning them about my northern Irish sterling, and The food was that bad I would consider even giving it to my dog, chips burn, fish was cold in the middle , the chicken was as dry as eating sand the only thing which was nice was the sausages but then again even my 4 year old sister can cook sausages and would advise someone to do a hygiene check on the place no mask no gloves touch’s her English Serling and then proceeds to pre food and serve without even washing them DISCUSSED.

Over cooked fish to the point of batter being burnt, very greasy Need to sort out your cooking skills im afraid

It's not great. Even if you want food that is ready, you have to be served in turn, irrespective if someones unusual fish order takes 15 minutes to cook.

Worst fish and chips ever, tasted like yesterday's reheated, dry and chewy. It was just on closing time but the first time we have ever had to throw fish and chips away, inedible.

Grew up in ruthin,went back to visit and decided to have fish and chips for tea,what a disappointment,chips where soggy,fish was greasy,never again!!!!!

Got there 5 mins before closing on a Saturday lunchtime to be told the fryers been turned off so no more chips! There was enough for 1 portion between 4 of us paid full whack ! 3 girls with me were well miffed.
