Fenwick 47 in Inverclyde

This is a lovely restaurant nice staff but food is a big let down would not return came home and ordered a pizza

Fenwick 47 is now Fenwick Tapas. I have been dying to go since they opened and finally got there on Saturday. Bit of a disappointment!! We took advice from the owner and ordered 3 tapas each. the steak peppercorn was okay, peppercorn sauce a bit tasteless but the worst was the haggis. Really awful. Was deep fried in batter but instead of being crumbly it was just a load of mush inside, terrible texture and completely tasteless. The chips were the only really good part of the meal!! £40 for three tapas each and one soft drink seemed a bit overpriced for something to awful. Won't be back

Delivery an hour and a half late, food barely warm. No answer from restaurant when trying to trace order. Could do better when updating order times on Clyde Eats

Group went at a weekend. Initially drinks were nice and service was fine. When the food came out it all went downhill. The food was largely flavourless. Had bread which was clearly not fresh. Haggis was nice and so was the pork and chorizo stew - everything else tasted of nothing. Then, towards the end of the meal, the owner's dog started jumping all over us and no effort was made to recall him despite food still being eaten. I love dogs but one of our group is allergic. Then took >30minutes for anyone to come and ask about drinks and clear the table after the meal. Was super excited for this as loved Fenwick before the change.

Popped in for a spot of lunch. Warm welcome from Johnny & Holly, food excellent, good value. Mocktails 10/10 would recommend & we shall be back.

This is a really nice restaurant however the inexperienced staff and quality of food let it down. I visited on Saturday Feb 19th and was very disappointed. The food was poor and the wine was warm 😳 I had the steak sandwich and the steak was really tough. If I had more time and wasn't so hungry I would have returned it , however I ate half of it Nd as no one asked how my food was I didn't bother saying anything. The wine was really nice however after it was opened and poured we discovered the bottle wasn't very cold Nd had to drink the wine with ice in it. This was our first visit to Fenwick 47 and will almost definitely be our last. 😐

Had a lovely meal there last night. Food was delicious and atmosphere was really nice. However the owners have a dog whisk wandered freely throughout our table paying us four visits and leaping on to my seat. Really offputting and spoiled what was otherwise a lovely night out.

Stumbled across this absalute gem of a place today ,i believe its under new management. The resturant is beautiful ,The food was delicious and the staff were friendly, accommodating and first class. I will definitely be back and i highly recommend

We visited first night sit in with a drink was allowed. Place was busy with sit in as well as take away. It was safe and everyone spaced out. Staff were great and so helpful, food was amazing can’t wait to come back!!

Went in for lunch today, staff very friendly and helpful .Ordered the macaroni advertised with garlic bread came with chips I don't like frozen chips the macaroni was covered with what I believe was mozzarella cheese it was like chewing gum not a nice meal .Had been in before and enjoyed it

ok booked a table for our anniversary terrible experience waited over 1 1/2 hours for our food ... toilets were flooded and the service was terrible nobody knew what was happening... we are still sitting waiting arrived at 7 o'clock and its now 8:35 ... very disappointing.. ok got our food eventually and it was very good .... what a shame if everything else was OK it would have been lovely 😔

Getting takeaway food delivered to the house during lockdown. All food tasty with good portions and excellent value. A great easy way to eat when you get in from work but best of all a roast on a Sunday that only needs heated in the oven - bliss. Look forward to getting back to visit Fenwicks in person but this is the next best thing.

Absolutely delicious. As a daddies day surprise a full Scottish breakfast was delivered to my door, freshly cooked and piping hot. The ingredients were of the finest quality, superbly prepared and presented ready to plate up. Needless to say after eating so well as a delivery I cannot wait for a fuller dining experience in Fenwick 47.

Waited 30-40 minutes for food and u could clearly see the chef was struggling in the back on his own maybe a few more members of staff would help however food and service was great thanks guys

my friend took me here for a birthday lunch the food was lovely I had sea bass and it was cooked beautifully the surroundings were comfortable and calming the food was slightly expensive for lunchtime but nice for a treat and to be fair there were cheaper options than the sea bass I would probably go in the evening the next time

Haven’t tried this restaurant since it had changed hands. It seemed more open and brighter than previously which was a definite improvement. The lone waiter was pleasant and friendly. However the service was a bit slow. The menu choice is not huge. My husband chose the fish and chips, which he said was very good. I opted for the tomato soup and a toasted tuna sandwich on white. We both had lattes. The fish was served quite quickly, as were the lattes. However my latte was almost finished by the time I received my soup and sandwich, which I had to return as it was on brown bread. It took nearly 15 minutes to get the replacement, by which time my husband was finished his lunch and I had finished my coffee. I might have understood if the place was busy but there were only two other occupied tables! Needless to say I don’t see us hurrying back anytime soon.

Warm welcome from Friendly staff, delicious food from a great food selection, chilled & relaxing atmosphere

I have visited this restaurant before and have always given it glowing reviews because it offered something different which set it apart from other places. When I had dinner again recently I was disappointed with the menu which was more or less pub grub rather than fine dining. It contained items like burgers, fish & chips,mac & cheese but nothing to set it apart from other places. We both had rib eye steak which was OK but the presentation left a lot to be desired - it was accompanied with one mushroom, a few soggy onion rings and enough chips to feed a family. We left a lot of chips and the waiter, on clearing our table, informed us that since we were the last diners the kitchen staff decided to give us all the chips they had left! When we ordered drinks my wife ordered a drink with a mixer and requested a tall glass - it came in a small wine flute which we sent back. Also, inexplicably, live music started at 8pm which made conversation difficult. We left before 9pm, no one was eating and there were only about 6 customers left and I think two of these were with the singer so the live music isn't exactly drawing customers. I am really disappointed that this restaurant has gone down market. I don't think I'll be back

I opted for a delicious Chicken BLT which was lovely.Perfect roomy location for a coffee & scone as well as lunch .Give it a try ..you won’t be disappointed!

Having visited late Tuesday 14th January with my wife and daughter, the restaurant was surprisingly quiet. No idea why as this is a gem of a place. Great menu, nice atmosphere and absolutely outstanding service. Had a brilliant night and will definitely be back. So people of Inverclyde and beyond, fancy a change from the usual chains? Take a trip here for great food, service and reasonable prices. New to the area and will most certainly be back!

Visited this restaurant with my daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandsons couple of weeks ago. The menu had something on it for everyone, the owner and the fab staff could not do enough for us. We all had different dishes from menu, and every plate was cleared. I had the fish which was huge but divine. My daughter has been back a few times with her family. Hopefully when I'm back down we will go again?

This is my third lunch visit, the service is friendly and the lunch menu is priced fairly. This is the 2nd time I have ordered macaroni as I always give food a 2nd chance in case it’s a one off that it wasn’t as good as I expected. The topping was crunchy and cheesy and the macaroni underneath was creamy but sadly lacking in flavour. I would also have preferred bacon pieces rather than processed ham. The soup was very good and the sandwiches had a lot of lovely filling however the bread wasn’t as fresh as it should be.

I would highly recommend and return to this restaurant if ever in the area again. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food was very nice.

Great burger and an excellent aubergine curry. Deserts pretty good too. Friendly staff and nice beer. What’s not to like?

On arriving it appeared that we were the only table ordering food on a Friday night at the end of the month. Didn't bode well but we ended up having a fantastic meal after having the full attention of the chefs for our order. Really good menu and the food was fantastic. Staff were also excellent. Only fly in the ointment was the terrible coffee at the end.

We visit often this restaurant and every time we enjoy the same excellent quality in service and food. Right in the centre of Greenock.

What a terrific find! The food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the fish and chips and the tuna sandwich. The beer and wine were wonderful. Service was superb!

Visited Fenwicks as we had received gift vouchers for a meal. So glad we did! My husband and son both ordered the soup and steak sandwich, both enjoyed! I ordered the Tahitian beef salad which was marvellous. My daughter had a small roast chicken dinner which she really enjoyed. Nice atmosphere, lovely staff, amazing food! We will hopefully be back soon to sample more from the menu. Our bill was exceptionally reasonable and less than expected.

After hearing good reviews about Fenwick's decided to give it a try. Booked a table and when we arrived we were pointed to an area by one of the waitresses. A couple that came in behind us (no reservation) were taken to a table and told the soup of the day by an other waitress. No consistency. The food was really good and portion size was excellent, so much so we couldn't manage a dessert. Overall a good experience but lacked a little in customer service.

We stopped here a few times on a recent visit to Greenock. Very friendly staff. Just had drinks till I heard they had lentil soup, it was delicious. Be back on our next visit.

Great Food and magnificant service, Menü prices fare for the location. Need to provided an inner door as entrance door opening creates a thorough draft throughout. Wine list pricing out of context with the location and menu. Excessively overpriced average wine.

We have eaten here twice now and both times have been fantastic. The service and the food are both fantastic. Between us we have had the fish and chips, the Fenwick burger and the schnitzel, they were all amazing. I have also had the calamari, which was a wee bit disappointing, it was a bit rubbery, but squid is difficult to get right, I’ve not had it great anywhere locally.

I have been here before and once again the quality of the food was excellent as was the service. I had sea bass and my wife had stroganoff. The presentation of both dishes was very good and the portion sizes were just right. The only disappointment was that my wife had her heart set on panna cotta for dessert but it was not available. The one (unwelcome imo) change from my previous visits was background music. Although it was not too loud it was still necessary to raise one's voice to have any conversation. If there must be background music then that's what it should be - in the background. This is a minor complaint and won't stop me from returning

The food was outstanding with the curry fish soup starter and sea bass main absolutely bursting with flavour. The service was perfect with the staff being so attentive. If I could give this little restaurant 6 stars I would.

We pop into Fenwick 47 at least monthly - staff are always very welcoming and the food is great. Have recommended to many people - I know a number of them have tried it and agree - it's great

Had a great dinner for my mums birthday , 11 people . 11 different meals , and not one complaint , The service was excellent as usual , and it was very reasonably priced , highly recommended

I went here for a birthday meal. Was a table of 6 of us. Okay it’s pretty basic inside could do with a little love being injected into the decor. Food is awful over priced and seriously lacking. Ordered prawn cocktail which was served in a the same gin glass I was drinking from. There was zero marie rose sauce on the prawns going to go as far and say it’s hands down worst starter I’ve ever had. I ordered steak which at £18.00 I expect for it to be cooked as asked for ie medium...... when I got my main the steak was well done when I ask to send it back it seemed like a bother for the staff to return it I then waited another 20 mins while everyone ate to be served yet again another well done steak I was that hungry by this point I ate it I explained to the staff I was unhappy. Few others at the table sent things back too, asked for plain bacon and cheese burger no onions and when the plain burger Came out I had onions through the burger itself. Ask for the Mac cheese instead again this was dry and cheeseless. Zero was deducted for the poor food the service was awful I won’t be eating here again the same goes for the other 5 at the table.

Have been here a few times now and it is always good. It is definitely worth a visit. They also do a great breakfast. Highly recommended.

A hidden gem of a restaurant.. That family run feel in cosy surroundings. Great chef / food ...They say you eat with your eyes and you do in this case. Well presented plates of food and really attentive friendly staff. We have been before and will be back again. Cant recommend this place enough.

Visited here in October and service was very poor with meals cold and had to be returned However visited again in December and food was a lot better and staff service excellentl

Went in for an early Sunday dinner - three different meals - all got the thumbs up. The roast is always a favourite, the burgers great when needing a good feed and tonight for a change -the chicken breast with mushroom and cream sauce , it was delicious. It is always a pleasure to eat here and the staff are friendly and very helpful.

Having had a table booked for several weeks for a friends' reunion we were disappointed to be told two weeks before the event that there was an event on and they wanted the table back by 8.30. This was totally unacceptable so we had to look elsewhere. No way to treat your customers!

My wife and myself visited this restaurant last night for something to eat.on entering we were met straight away by a member of staff who showed us to our table.the menu was already on the table for us to look at.we can only speak highly of the way the staff treated us.our meal was well presented and we thoroughly enjoyed what we had.would recommended this restaurant.

Initially I intended to complain as we waited a considerable length of time for our meal but when it arrived it was incredible. I had purchased a Groupon deal but will definitely be back and happily pay full price. We both had steak, I chose a fillet, cooked to perfection and tasted incredible, well worth the wait.

Dined here on a groupon deal , my husband and I both had ribeye steaks. They were cooked perfectly one med/rare and the other medium. Staff were lovely if I had to say one neg it would be we had to wait for a while before they arrived but it was worth the wait . We will definately return.

Me and my wife had a lovely steak in here tonight. I had a ribeye and my wife had a sirloin both of which where cooked to perfection these where served with chips, mushrooms and tomato. This was followed by treacle and ginger tart with local ice cream, sadly there was no taste of ginger at all and the ice cream was bland and tasteless(the local part must have been the shop they bought it from) for £5 this was poor value!! The waiting staff where all attentive and helpful. Will definitely eat here again!!

I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant for the first time and am sorry to say both my husband and myself were left disappointed. I can't fault the waiting staff and the new decor is lovely but the food is average when we were expecting something a bit special. The "gourjons" of scampi were basically your average small scampi bites and tasted like the ones you would buy frozen from the shop for a lot cheaper than £10.00 we were charged. The chicken schnitzel was also very average. The desert was nice and saved the overall rating from being "Poor".

I went to this restaurant for the first time and overall I was disappointed. The waiting staff were excellent. I can't fault their service. The food in my opinion isn't up to the standards of other places in the area such as Cafe Balfe and My Kitchen. The chicken schnitzel wasn't very tasty. I found the chips to be too hard. Desert was better but covered in white powder which made it a bit messy. Drinks prices weren't shown on the menu and were very expensive. I would possibly return for entertainment on a Saturday evening but for special occasions in future I wouldn't give Fenwick 47 serious consideration.

Tempura prawns to start with, best I have had in a long time. For the main course we had two fillet steaks. Every single thing on the plate was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was nice (reasonably busy, background music at the right volume). The staff were great, they made you feel that you had known them all your life.

This restaurant is not very noticeable from the outside but I really recommend you to pay it a visit. Everything on the menu is of better quality than the same type of food in other restaurants in the area. They have a 'dish of the day' (e.g. seafood linguine or gourmet burger). Good beers like Chouffe. They also do good breakfasts.

We had high hopes of the food after seeing all the good reviews. Our first courses were fine, but our bass fish course was disappointing, the fish was a little overcooked and the stir fry vegetables were quite oily.

We had a fantastic night for my son’s 18th. Service was great, attentive and helpful. We had some dietary requirements and the kitchen obliged with not just one but several meal choices - all of which sounded delicious. The food was great and we enjoyed our night.

Service was fast and food was very good. Locals were very friendly as well. Some stopped by to speak withbusbat our table.

This is my second review of this restaurant. On my previous visit my review was entitled faultless but on this occasion I did find a fault but not with the quality of the food or the service. I had a starter of roasted beetroot with redcurrants and goats cheese which was very good but consisted of a lot of leaves with only a few chunks of warm beetroot, some berries and a hint of cheese and did not, in my opinion, represent value for money at £5.95. My main of cod was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. My wife had lambs liver parfait followed by medallions of fillet steak in a delicious gravy with mashed potatoes which was also perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The ambience of the restaurant was better than my previous visit but was still not particularly busy for a Saturday night. I would hate this restaurant to close so I hope the locals support it - I certainly will.

Visited today for the first time and we will be back. Place was overhauled, is under new management and is lovely and bright with a welcoming but modern twist. Staff was fab, attentive but not overly so and nothing was too much trouble. Had the bread and trio of dips for a starter which was lovely, particularly the feta dip. My daughter and I had the chicken snitzel two lovely chicken breasts, a tasty salad and great sweet potato fries. My husband had the burger which he thought was amazing. Others at the table had the sea bass or the mussels which they loved. We finished with coffees and brownies with lavender ice cream. A great lunch we will be back

Went here last nigjt with my in laws and had such a beautiful meal. No kids menu, but assured all meals could be made to a kids size portion. Meals all delicious and so beautifully presented. The waitress was absolutely lovely and couldn't be more helpful, gorgeous and bright compared to how dull it was before, will definitely be back, :) x

Big shout out to the chef and staff. The food is great and so good value. Unfortunately it is has not very busy tonight maybe because of the games but I wish it was because it would mean that others would love the place the way my family and i do. we have visited often and have never had a meal that was not prefect.

Anyone local we know this is where Morgans used to be, but this is a whole new concept.

I had planned on watching my waistline for the next couple of months (to hone my 'beach body' / 'No carbs before Marbs' and all that), but the tantalising advert for Fenwick 47's 'Gourmet Burger Tuesdays' destroyed my willpower...resistance was futile so I went along last night and after some lengthy deliberation I chose what I assume is their flagship burger, 'The Fenwick'. I chose well - it was really nice (the chips were good too). My sweet tooth could have done with the bit of cheesecake I had for dessert being a bit bigger, but the coffee was good and overall I'd highly recommend the restaurant. The staff, decor and atmosphere are all really nice and it deserves to do well, so I hope people spread the word about it and keep it busy.

Our Granddaughter gave us a voucher for our first visit to this restaurant which was a very pleasant experience. Soup of the day which we both had was Chicken and Rice which was delicious with chunky tasty bread. My wife had Chicken schnitzel and I had tempura battered Haddock, both served with chips and salad, cooked perfectly and very tasty. The staff where very friendly and pleasant and would highly recommend a visit particularly for the Chicken and Rice soup, absolutely delicious. Oh very reasonably priced for a very tasty meal.

Ate dinner last night. Sardines were lovely and my husbands soup was beautiful. The main courses were plentiful and well cooked. Place was quiet, maybe people don't realise that it is back up and running which is a pity because there has been such an improvement in the place. Son loves the burgers.

Myself and 10 other family members had a great experience in this lovely restaurant , food was excellent and the value for money was second to none, staff are very attentive and professional nothing was too much bother. They also have fyne ales by the bottle as well as a lovely tempranillo rosado which is as nice as i have tasted in Spain.

We booked a party of four for a birthday celebration. The restaurant was inviting with good lighting and music that was loud enough to enjoy but not so loud as to be intrusive. It was moderately busy, with other parties coming and going, but we were able to chat and be heard without raising our voices or hearing others' conversations, in a cosy, relaxing atmosphere.

Had a fantastic meal at Fenwick 47 tonight soup was amazing then best burger I've ever eaten my girlfriend had chicken and rice wow not just so tasty but so well presented and home made bread and butter pudding wow outstanding taste staff in this restaurant were really lovely and helpful Happy and punctual beautiful food a must for food conisures thanks again guys definitely be back again and again

This is the first time I have been to this restaurant and it certainly won't be the last. The food was beautifully presented, very tasty, the service was excellent and the prices are reasonable. I had a sardine starter - 4 good sized sardines on a bed of leaves which was delicious. My main was sea bass - 2 meaty chunks of fish served on a bed of prawns, sauted potatoes and chick peas - again delicious. My wife had pate followed by a very generous rib eye steak which came with proper chips rather than those skinny fries favoured by other restaurants. The staff got the balance just right between being attentive rather than intrusive. For a Friday night the place was fairly quiet so I hope the locals support this establishment since there aren't many good eating places in Greenock.

I went to Fenwick 47 with my aunt. We had a lovely meal. I enjoyed the chicken snitzel and my aunt had king prawns. They were very nice and especially well presented. Service was excellent.

Never been before and very impressed, had a beautiful shoulder of lamb for Sunday lunch beautiful gravy and lovely light crisp Yorkshire puddings followed by a bread and butter pudding extremely moorish! To top it off I’d have gladly paid more! Keep it up Fenwick 47

We were in mid week last month and really enjoyed our meal.

Semi regular visitor to Fenwick 47, having eaten throughout the day previously. Have never been able to find fault with the surroundings, staff attentiveness and manner, and most importantly the food.

Popped in today for brunch,understandable quiet as weather pretty poor.

Tried out fenwicks as a change from our usual 1 cove road. Not sure we’ll be back to 1CR as the quality of food, value for money and more spacious layout of Fenwicks was way better. And the staff are great too ! :)

Visited with a group of five friends on a Thursday night. Although a few tables were occupied, the restaurant is quite large and was not quite busy enough to create a warm atmosphere. The food was ok, although my meal was luke warm, rather than hot. Service was good.

Some dishes on menu not available.Some dishes really good others not so.Steak ordered was inedible but most of other meals ordered were acceptable.Why spoil food with frozen French fries!

This is a really nice place to just chill out and have a coffee or maybe a nice bite to eat whilst admiring the artwork.

Cet établissement mérite l'EXCELLENCE, tant pour la situation elle même dans Greenock, l'accueil, la déco moderne et stricte, la prestation du personnel en salle, la propreté, la présentation des mets, la saveur de tous les plats (de l'entrée au dessert). Bravo et merci à toute l'équipe y compris celle des cuisines (visibles en partie de la salle) pour notre super dernière soirée en Ecosse. Encore merci et à une prochaine visite. Was looking forward to trying Fenwick 47 after recent opening & refurbishment but was very disappointed that a number of dishes on the menu were not available. When I booked a table there was no indication that this might the case. I was told that I needed to tell them in advance if we wanted the Christmas menu but no mention that the ‘a la carte ‘ may be restricted. Not the dining experience or good first impression I was expecting. On a positive note, service was very good.

A warm welcome, lovely atmosphere and fab food. We had sardines and chicken liver parfait to start (all delicious) then sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection served with a cheese sauce for my husband. I chose the Vietnamese pork burger that was packed full of flavour and served with sweet potato fries...scrumptious. Also the bottle of house red was great value. Will definitely be back

Visited here with my wife in a Sunday. The food was really good and the staff attentive. We both had starters and mains which were presented nicely.

Visited with some friends. Had a lovely meal. Not your average menu and was apprehensive that I would like anything. Tried chicken and mango which was delicious. Would go back again. Staff friendly and didn't rush you.
