Farmer Luxtons in West Devon

Excellent breakfast and exceptionally nice coffee. Spotlessly clean and friendly staff. Well worth a visit!!! Will visit again when in the area!

We have been regulars at Farmer Lutons for a very long time but this time we were really disappointed. One had a late breakfast. The sausges were luke warm, the bacon had been stood around for hours, it was culed up and dark red. Tha hash browns were full of oil yet cold and mushy in the middle. The eggs were drenched in oil and certainly weren't freshly cooked. The beans were warm. The worst thing was it looked like it had jus been thrown on the plate. Ham so thinly cut you could see through it on the other meal. Chips hard & cold in the middle too. We think constant changing of staff/cooks really can't help. We will be giving it a miss from now on sadly.

Took mum for breakfast, small breakfast for mum, large for me. Mum wanted the sausage replaced with rasher of bacon. Staff said no problem, but then continued to not only charge me for the full breakfast added £1.90 (ish) for the bacon. I double checked and asked surely they can just swap the sausage for a bacon rasher and the cost would be the same as a small breakfast. No, apparently not. In the end I got the sausage put back on, removed the extra bacon, paid the normal price small breakfast and swapped one of my rashers with a sausage… I’m not quibbling about the cost of the breakfast, happy to pay a premium for quality, but really….

Thought I'd pop in for a quick breakfast bap. All I can say was it was far from quick. Considering it wasn't to busy in there compared to previous times I've been. I waiting 30 minutes for a bacon bap. Staff said they were getting a egg, came back 10 minutes later. Staff seemed to not know what was going on, and felt like I was asking the world for a bit of butter on my bun. No customer service what so ever and completely unhelpful. I'll try to visit again to see if it improves. I used to be a frequent customer but the past 5 months each time I've visited I've felt its headed more downhill. , general customer service and running of the place needs improvement. I would've complained while there but just wanted to get my bap and be gone. Also didn't think staff would've had the knowledge or enthusiasm to help

Gluten free options. We came in for a blow out breakfast and that is what we got. I even had GF sausages with mine, which is a rarity (so often the GF sausages are veggie sausages and I am not keen). The one missing star is the hash browns were a bit oily. Otherwise a fantastic breakfast.

£4.75 for this sorry looking excuse of a roast pork carvery baguette! TBH Luxtons have always been a bit tight on their meat portions but now they're not even carving it, it's pre cut on the meat slicer on the thinest possible setting (how is that a carvery!?). To add insult to injury, I got 2 tiny slices, one each end and nothing in the middle! I even commented on how thin they'd been cut but that didnt get me another slice! I should have just refused to pay for it. Suffice to say you've now lost a regular customer for being so dam tight. Next time you're in Launceston, please pop in Warren's and see how a carvery roll should be done. 1st world problems I know but come on, you're a butcher and you should know better and be able to do a decent, satisfyingly filled carvery roll.

Fabulous food served with a smile. We love the shop and cafe that serves up great gluten free options. The gluten free rolls option is fabulous value and better than anywhere else I have found in Devon.

Further to my review of the cafe last week, we booked a Sunday lunch. The food was well cooked and delicious, a good selection of veg none of which was over cooked. The portions of carved meat were enormous and the veg, was as much as you could carry to your table. The service was always with a smile; Even the boss and it was nice that he came round for a chat with customers. As I have said all the young ladies attending tables were polite, helpful and happy. One young lady stood out credit where credit’s due and her name I believe was Beth, so thank you Beth and thank you Farmer Luxtons Mr & Mrs R Bruce

Found this cafe by accident on the way to Cornwall a great find fantastic breakfast so much so went back on the way home from cornwall needs a big sign on A30 a great place to eat and have a break couldn't recommend it enough 1st class😀😀👍

One of the best facilities of its kind (café, butcher and groceries) adjacent to the A30, certainly the best in Devon & Cornwall. Not marked off the A30 but no more than ½ mile and easily accessible from the Okehampton (N) junction. Excellent breakfast and lunch choices. All freshly cooked using local produce.

Eat here on a regular basis and every meal is top quality, beautifully cooked and presented by friendly helpful staff, from the warm welcome the minute you walk through the door you are made to feel at home and it's a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Definitely reccomend to everyone whether is just a cup of tea and cake or one of the delicious breakfast certainly worth visiting. You will not be disappointed.

Not much to say really, an excellent Full English breakfast mostly reared and grown on site, superb quality and service and reasonably priced, thank you.

Cake was nice, coffee OK but the service was chaotic, staff didn't know what they were supposed to be doing. Nice to be able to sit outside

The breakfast was really nice and the staff were nice. The menu options was a nice selection which made us want to go back. The big breakfast was tasty, I really enjoyed the mushrooms. The cakes and the food in the shop looked really tasty too.

Stopped at this lovely Farm shop/restaurant on our way home after holidaying near Oakhampton. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by one of the staff and so was our Labrador, they are very dog friendly. The actual shop itself was well laid out and the vegetables and meat well displayed and everything looked extremely fresh. We had three full English breakfasts and one vegetarian one, all were delicious, and set us up for the rest of the day. The coffees were also lovely and catered for one member of our family who prefers oat milk. Bought a few ‘cookie’ presents to take home as gifts. A really enjoyable experience. Our only regret is we wish we had found this lovey venue earlier. Highly recommended and hope to return again before to long.

Good food from a super farm shop. All freshly made and high-quality ingredients. Great stop off point on route to Cornwall .

An impromptu visit en route to a holiday in Cornwall. Fabulous discovery. The staff were friendly. We had a lasagne with chips and salad and a pork and stuffing roll. Both were absolutely delicious. 10 out of 10. Will be returning and recommending.

We stopped here for brunch on our way to Cornwall for our family holiday. And the food was delicious! Butcher on site, nice grounds, clean restaurant area and staff very friendly and nice. Free parking and dog friendly inside and out. Highly recommended

Just wanted to Thank everyone at Farmer Luxtons today not only in the farm shop but the cafe side too. All the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. My Dad hasn’t been able to go out due to a recent accident and today I took him to Farmer Luxton for some food. We all enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was worth the wait too. Well Done in cheering up my Dad x

Excellent restaurant with cheerful and very efficient service. Good value meal. Also well stocked farm shop as part of the complex. Will definitely call next time we're down that way!

Recommended by a friend, really enjoyed the farm shop, but their cafe was the best. Young lady taking orders was a delight ,friendly chatty and helpful. Great service and their home made pasties are delicious.

Weve been many times to Luxtons and this visit was once again no disappointment. Lovely produce and a great late breakfast made all the better by meeting Farmer Luxton as well. A bone each for our dog's kept them very happy indeed.

We were driving in the area on a golf trip..Saw sign post for Luxtons..Really glad we stopped as we (Eight of us) had a hearty cooked breakfast..Afterwards we looked at the contents in the shop..Wow so many delicious choices which was mouth watering..We brought some items and local marmalade..What impressed us was how friendly the staff were..We all live along way from Luxtons but have already made a mental note when next in the area to visit again.. Just popped in for lunch at Farmer Luxtons and had the cheese burger special with triple cooked chips from the specials board wit all the trimmings, not only was it delicious but incredible value at £6.95. All made fresh even the burger. Highly recommend!

We came across Farmer Luxtons, Farmshop cum café on the Northside of Dartmoor near Okehampton by accident but needing to shop up for our holiday it was a happy accident and useful find.Good quality meats with friendly, helpful and knowledgeable butchers.Happy to serve us, even though we only arrived 10 minutes before closing time.A little pricey for some of the foods - but very good quality - especially the leg of lamb.One to remember!

1300 hrs. Called in for a coffee and a roll with a friend. First impression was that the venue was bright and airy and seemed inviting. Ordered two coffees and two bacon rolls whereupon we were given a table number and asked to take a seat. The coffee took around 20 minutes to materialise followed by the bacon rolls 5 minutes later which were just taken out of the warmer and were pretty disgusting being very dry and lukewarm with the appearance they had been there all morning. It wasn't to busy and well staffed but still managed to look chaotic. Apologies but the manager has to take the can for the disorganisation. That said the venue appeared clean but on our experience sadly we would not go back.

Terrible sums up the food. Eat in a farm shop & butchers so smell of raw meat. Paid what I considered a lot £2.95 for a sausage bap. No butter, not offered sauce, left cafe and opened and was horrified at how undercooked the sausage was, I really think all the sausage needed was a vet and it could have been saved. £2.95 straight in the bin.

Lovely, friendly cafe with good, locally produced food and, best of all, dog 🐶 friendly! Farm shop well worth a visit also as you're leaving the cafe. Everything here is quality!

Don’t bother, we had a bacon bab in a cold corner of a farm shop, served from a counter. Not good although it was full. Not sure why perhaps the breakfast was better. When i asked a staff member why it was so cold she said it’s because of the farm shop. It the first time I have been in a cafe attached to a farm shop that was so cold. I would go the extra mile and go into Okehampton.

Although the new cafe has been open a few months now, and I pass it 3 mornings a week, it wasn't until today that I stopped off for one of their farmers breakfasts with some friends. So glad I did, fantastic local produce for sale within the store, which some are used for their superb breakfast, this is going to be a must stop off place on my delivery route in future, food was all cooked to order, all were fresh and superb tasting, very friendly and knowledgeable staff on site too, if you like the traditional English breakfast, then this is the place for you.
