Eviedale Bakehouse & Bistro in Orkney Islands

I went to the cute little honesty shop bakery today and found a nice selection of baked goods like croissants and cinnamon rolls that were baked with love and reasonably priced.

The most amazing vibe and authentic wood fired pizza. Hot Hawaiian is amazing we recommend this option. If you are on Orkney you MUST pop in.

Wow, the best Napoli pizza I’ve ever had! Lovely atmosphere and service. I also had the banoffee sundae which I shared (won’t share next time) which was Devine! We bought sourdough bread, light as a feather and moist! I’m not a pastry fan but their sourdough pastry’s are the lightest and loveliest ever! So good to come across a business where people have really learned their craft and do it so well.

Visited the bake house on a Wednesday only to find that they bake only on a Friday and a Saturday.They had a loaf left over from the previous weeks baking which they gave to me.Had it as toast the next day and it was excellent sourdough.Also bought one of their croissants which was just perfect. If you are looking for excellent sourdough bread and croissants you can’t find anything better on Orkney.

Hands down the best meal we had in Orkney. The restaurant is warm and inviting and the staff are all friendly. It is a cosy wee place and there aren't many seats so you'll need to book. The pizza was excellent but the real highlight was the dessert pizza which was amazing. The only negative is that it is only open two nights a week - we had to rush from the ferry on the Sat so could eat there! Highly recommend if you're lucky enough to be on Mainland Orkney when it is open.

Walking into the bistro you feel transported to the Mediterranean, the music the atmosphere the scents, the decor. You do not feel you in the middle of nowhere in the Orkney Islands that’s for sure! The service was fab, fast and efficient. Staff were friendly and the food was top nosh! Such a great selection of pizzas, drinks and puddings. We will definitely be back!!

We managed to get a table here last Friday evening and were so glad we did. The pizza was terrific - tasty, well-cooked and handmade to order, and the starters were equally good (and with generous portion sizes). We had the tomato and mozzarella salad, and the cheesy garlic bread to start, and they were excellent. We followed this with the some like it hot pizza, which was really good, and not too hot. The ambience is wonderful, and the customer service excellent. We were made to feel welcome and appreciated by Phillipa (one of the owners), and it was nice to see the open kitchen arrangement, featuring co-owner Ian making the pizza bases individually. The wood-fired pizza oven imparted good textures and flavour. The buzz in the restaurant was obvious, and this was by far the best dining experience we had during our stay in Orkney. It's only open at weekends, so make sure one of the first things you do when you arrive on the island is make a booking! This is a must-do for our next visit to Orkney. Managed to get an early table after calling in by chance during the day to get a coffee. The cafe wasn’t actually open but the owners happened to be in and heard us looking at the “honesty box” bakery section and invited us in and made us a coffee. Had a lovely chat with them whilst drinking the coffee and booked for later that week. Had a great sourdough pizza and homemade dessert. You’ll need to book in advance to get in!

Just amazing !! Eviedale bakehouse has the most wonderful products. Went for sit in pizza tonight (also do takeaway pizza) Best pizza in Orkney. Also had a gluten free option that my friend said was the best she had ever had. Cosy little bistro. Parking outside. Bring your own bottle, as not licensed but soft drinks available. AND !! Did you know that you can get 'pudding pizza' ? 3 choices, all sounded delicious but full after the normal one. Honestly box for the bakehouse offering bread, sweet treats & savoury treats. Best pizza my husband has ever had. As I have food intolerances and they helped me with bespoke menu which was completely delicious.. and top restaurant quality. Lovely building made for a special meal. We also tried their almond croisants which were exceptional.

The food was lovely, it was the best pizza I have had. My wife has problems with allergies and they could not have been more understanding or helpful and made sure she had a lovely meal. Everyone was extremely friendly. One of the many highlights of our trip to the Orkneys. Wish we lived nearer to go back often.

We got bake at home pizzas for our last night whilst on holiday on the island - pick up was smooth, pizzas were packaged excellently with cooking instructions. The pizzas were delicious- toppings and crusts super tasty! We ate them so quickly we forgot to take a photo… Lots of veggie options as well. Would recommend to anyone!

After 4 years of living on the island, we finally managed to have an evening pizza meal at Eviedale bakehouse & Bistro. What a lovely and cosy place this is. Finally made it to Eviedale after a long wait due to work commitments and family life but it was worth the wait. The pizzas are out of this world and all reasonably priced. The venue is small and very warm atmosphere. Staff were helpful and very friendly. Cannot wait to get back.

Booked a collection slot and ordered pizza by email which was straight-forward. Pickup was easy with a small car park for 2-3 cars behind the building. Pizza was great and we enjoyed it with a sea view at the nearby beach.

Found this place on a wet Orkney day where I was suitably revived with a warming and delicious bowl of soup. Wonderful relaxed atmosphere, happy staff and also seems to be popular with the locals which is always a good sign.
