We had the pleasure of dining here on Saturday night, and from the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by an incredibly kind and attentive young man. He immediately made us feel at home, graciously showing us to our table and even taking care of our coats with a smile. The service throughout the evening was impeccable—thoughtful, efficient, and genuinely friendly. As for the food, it was absolutely delightful—each dish was beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. This dining experience truly exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant—it’s a must-visit!

We visited for new year's eve and we were so disappointed. I've seen people recommend this place time and time again & with the £50pp price tag on the 3 course menu we expected good things. From start to finish it was poor. It took over 10 minutes for someone to come and take a drink order and then they wanted food orders at the same time (all 3 courses). We ordered tap water which never arrived. The food came out really quick so we felt quite rushed. Not enough time between courses. When the food did arrive it was poor quality, the meat was chewy & fatty and portions were small for the hefty price tag. The menu wasn't even the same as the one advertised online. After our desserts we still had drinks to finish, our booking said that we would have 2 hours on the table on it however, 1 hour 15 minutes after arriving we were asked to move to the bar with our drinks because they needed the table (hey had clearly over booked). The bar was far too busy to even stand in so we had to stand in a corner and finish our drinks. At the start we asked to put our coats on the hangers and they were piled on top of so much that it took us 10 minutes to find them and the help of a staff member with their phone torch. The whole place is so cramped, there's barely any room to move around. Music was blaring, more like a club than a restaurant, we couldn't hear each other talk. Such a disappointing experience, our first time visiting, we won't be back that's for sure.

Booked the NYE brunch, upon reading the menu a lot of the options contained pork or sour dough which the majority of our table cannot consume. We asked the waitress if we could have normal bread instead of sourdough bread with our veggie breakfasts, she informed us later that there was no other bread. We then asked if we could remove the sour dough from the dish as we cannot consume it due to intolerance and if that could be replaced with an extra hash brown. She said she would inform the chef. 30 minutes later our food arrived all of which had sourdough bread on top of our breakfasts. Disclosing an intolerance / allergies is very important when dining in a restaurant to have these ignored was out of order. We were told ‘the chef cannot make alterations to the dishes’. Adhering to allergies is not alteration! The staff were not very welcoming and our waitress seemed to have an issue with us from our arrival. They were late with our food and drinks and our overall experience was poor.

There was a big party before us so we were very late (around 30 mins) being shown to our table. The food was good, but not outstanding. Two of us ordered Sea Bream which was supposed to be accompanied by Samphire and tenderstem broccoli but we both only got two strands of Samphire and 1 piece of almost raw broccoli (there was cabbage and green beans instead, but we'd ordered the dish specifically because we like Samphire & tenderstem broccoli, so it was a bit disappointing). Some of the starter plates were cleared from the table before all of our party had finished eating, which felt a little rude and rushed. Our main courses arrived very quickly (too quickly) after our starters. Overall, given I've heard good things about this restaurant, it didn't quite live up to expectations. Maybe we caught them on an off day? It was certainly popular as there was barely a table free all the time we were there.

We were a party of 6 booked on what I knew would be a busy Saturday pre Christmas. When we arrived I did think we’d be greeted a bit speedier in the bar but no worries. Staff were friendly enough and sat us down and didn’t rush us to take our order. I felt they could however have been on the ball more with clearing glasses as the table was full enough with menus etc plus the table was on a slope. This meant the ice melt from the water jug was dripping onto us. I felt the placement of our table meant the waiters/waitresses had to kind of squeeze past and we felt inclined to sit forward every time someone needed to pass. We should have been on the back wall where there was a four and a two. The food was amazing, all of us had something different. I just felt that the small things, like the table placement, make a big difference in somewhere like this when you’re spending that kind of money, which is the only reason I have given three stars.

Totally average. Ordered scallops from the set Christmas menu for a £6 surcharge, therefore expecting a decent portion. 3 small scallops I suppose is technically the plural of a scallop, but pretty disappointing given the extra cost. The lamb shoulder was reasonable, but nothing to write home about. Fairly bland gravy and the side veg was nothing better than you might find in a microwave packet in Aldi. Staff were attentive and pleasant, but overall for the money I wouldn't bother coming again.

Visited Eric’s for lunch and the food and service were exceptional! It was my first time visiting and I throughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend Eric’s.

All was excellent except two of the four of us were a little disappointed our main’s weren’t the fine dining we’d anticipated and paid for. Nevermind.

We came for the 2nd year running for the festive menu, this year had much better portions. Very tasty food, staff are always attentive.

We attended the tasting menu with magician on Thursday 28th which was advertised as 6 till 9pm. Due to work commitments we asked to come at 7pm but were told "sorry it starts at 6" so we finished early and made it for 6pm. The final table was not filled until 6.45pm and then proceeded to be served first. In the whole 45 mins we had not had one course because, and I quote "the magician has to introduce himself to all the tables" Whilst the food was delicious and the waiting staff were great as always we waited between 20 and 30 mins for each course and the magician did not come to our table once. We feel the whole night was dragged out and not as advertised

Exceptional food, presentation and service. Usually can only afford for special occasions once in a blue moon but their Christmas menu is excellent value, so we jumped at the opportunity to go again! 😊

Highly recommended neighbourhood eatery with great flavours

I had the pleasure of dining at Eric's for Sunday dinner, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy yet vibrant energy that made it perfect for a relaxing weekend meal.

overpriced. Menu stated roast chicken however this was a chicken breast when it arrived. The gravy was much too thin. . We were waiting 30 minutes after receiving menus for our order to be taken.

sunday lunch was tasty although there was a mustard taste think on parsnips which was overpowering plenty of meat possibly too much needs more veg seating far too close together we were wedged in staff hit and miss some really attentive ( girl with glasses) others silent ,also staff used to look really smart not in very short skirts when taking customers upstairs used to be a regular at Erics first visit in a while will deffo go back but please leave space between tables too cramped

Eric's is an amazing place to.go for a meal staff are very nice. Also definitely recommend for any occasion

So many wonderful dining experiences at Eric’s. Staff are always really attentive and polite, all the way from a warm welcome upon arrival to the end of dining, the wait time between meals / drinks is never too long or too little, they’ve got that just right. The food is delicious and of highest standard with quality in mind. We especially enjoy the Eric’s themed nights! Ie: A Night in New York etc. The ambience and atmosphere is warm and inviting, whether you want to go for an evening or daytime occasion, the mood is always right. Up there with the best fine dining in the north, thank you many great nights and more to come!

I feel obliged to share my experience yesterday at Eric's. It was my 50th birthday and I took my family of 8 for the first time. I booked taxis from Halifax and looked forward to a lovely evening experiencing the food and atmosphere. I have no issue in paying good money for quality however I was extremely disappointed with what was served up. The bill for the evening came to £460 however everyone on my table was embarrassed as to what they were eating. Firstly the only none meat dish (seabass) was off the menu meaning my wife who is vegetarian could only have two starters. My mum's soup was cold (and I mean cold) was subsequently returned, the venison was over cooked and burnt with the side dishes just slopped on the plate, the lamb was good 👍. I find charging £35 for a steak that only comes with a bit of rocket somewhat taking the mick with additional fries or chips being £5 extra. However if you are going to do this do not cook the steak well done when it should have been rare. The young lad serving was very pleasant the older guy could do with cracking a smile and show some personality when handing over £450. For balance the happy birthday sweet was a very nice touch so thank you. On such a special occasion I just felt so let down by the whole experience for a first time visitor. If you are going to charge those prices it has to be spot on, and it was anything but I'm afraid 😣

Went here for Sunday lunch, and the food was absolutely amazing and great value for money £29.95 for 3 courses, £25.95 for 2 courses. The beef was beautiful. You can either have it pink or well done... It's definitely well worth a visit.

booked far in advance to be shoved in the corner effectively in between another table. Courses came out straight after each other. Gave us 3 courses in 45 minutes, soup was bland, beef was over cooked. When we asked staff if they could slow down literally ignored.

Really disappointed. I’ll start off on a positive though, the makings of a fantastic restaurant are there as the food is exceptional. However, when paying top dollar it’s fair to expect top service. Firstly, we were told our booking was wrong and had to embarrassingly dig out the email of which we were 35 minutes late being seated and crammed in to an area far too small (this was noticeable throughout the entire seating arrangement). We were then rushed through courses at a ridiculous pace. We were asked to leave whilst finishing our wine which when paying north of £200 for a Mother’s Day meal, leaves a sour taste in the mouth. It’s clear the owner has knowledge of how to serve great food but also blindingly obvious that it’s a bums on seat model, based on sheer volume and how cramped the restaurant was. I hope they take this message as constructive criticism as until that changes, I certainly won’t return.

Food served cold not enough on plate still hungry need more food for the expense

Great food and an amazing, cosy atmosphere. The menu is quite limited but this is likely the key to great flavour and therefore a great experience! Id rather have less choice but perfection in taste and flavour. We had a prior booking and were seated immediately. The food came out hot and within a few minutes of ordering. There was nothing that I wouldn't order again which is probably the highest praise I could give a restaurant.

Staff brilliant food out of this world

Table for birthday booked for 8. Only 7 wine glasses , had to ask after the wine arrived. Seven meals served one had to remind staff she was left waiting. Food only just warm. Good quality but not hot enough .

Last night’s dinner was superb. The Bass main course was outstanding. Not been before but will definitely go again. Super menu with good Veg/Vegan options too. Music was a little loud for us but, other than that, can’t fault it, a lovely choice for dinner.

We where a family of 5+ a high chair, wanting a special meal on New Year's Eve- food was okay. The major problem was the space we where given- absolutely crammed in like sardines- couldn't get up unless 3 people had 2 move, & chairs where so near 2 table that if u are any larger than "normal" u wouldn't fit in the space given 2 eat in. My elbows where had to be really tucked in- not comfortable @ all.

Had the Christmas dinner takeaway! Never tasted Beef like that before Beautiful the meal was enough for two people perfect really enjoyed it! Thank you

We had booked a table to celebrate our anniversary…between Christmas and new year.. The service was very slow and the food most definitely not up to Eric’s standard . The waiter took my main course off the bill but sadly our evening was spoiled.

Very poor quality, turkey tasted reheated the skin was rubbery, 1 sprout 1 pce briccolli completely raw! stuffing raw not cooked! Pudding tasted cheap quality not even luke warm. Extremely disappointing!

Always good any time of the year. One of my favourite places.

We booked a family afternoon roast with afters, and was not disappointed with the quality. It was excellent along with the service by waitress Chloe. We will definitely returning.

Absolutely wonderful food and service. We visited 03.12.23 for an early family Christmas dinner with my parents. Eric's, as usual was fabulous. I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant where the chef understands food as much as Eric Paxman does, everything goes together perfectly and is seasoned beautifully. Paired with excellent service Eric's really is worth a try if you haven't been.

It was super disappointing as I could only have one dish from each course section on the menu that were allergy friendly. (Allergy symbols weren’t present on the website before booking) otherwise I would have probably booked our Work do to be somewhere else. These dishes also contained an additional supplement of £5/6 even though items within the dish were removed to make it allergy friendly for me? Unsure if the waiter knew what he was talking about, I’ve never heard of chorizo containing breadcrumbs? In my 10 years coeliac that’s news to me. Also stating that my allergies were extremely awkward to order for is not helpful or a choice. When asking for a ‘rare’ steak, it came medium to well cooked. My other colleagues weren’t too impressed with their dishes either, maybe it’s because it was a different’ menu to the Al le Carte less effort was given. For a fine dining experience it was sad to see that substitutes couldn’t be made, especially for a dessert to be sorbet. I wasn’t blown away and probably won’t be returning.

Booked a table at 2pm online, where we were told they needed the table back at 4pm. We arrived literally a couple of minutes late due to traffic and we were greeted by a rude member of staff who told us the kitchen had closed! When I asked why they have a table available for a booking at 2pm if the kitchen is closes at the same time, the same member of staff said “we were late” and basically kicked us out. Garbage customer service and booking policy. Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t get any!

Celebrated my neices birthday here for Sunday lunch. It was perfect in every way. Food superb, beautifully prepared and portions were beyond generous. Staff was lovely and kept us all well looked after.

This is our go to for a special occasion. Exceptional food offering brilliant value for money and service is perfect.

Had a lovely meal for our 3rd wedding anniversary. They have wonderful vegetarian options. A top class restaurant - highly recommend for a special occasion and reasonably priced for the quality of the food. I had the pea and leek risotto starter - beautiful!! Eric himself came out and spoke to everyone table! 👍❤ Based on previous experience we booked Eric's for 8 of us to celebrate my 60th birthday. My children are both vegan and GF but I felt confident that they would cater having seen vegan nights advertised. We were very disappointed with the options available and the staff did not really seem on top of it. The vegetarian menu is not clearly labelled for allergies. One guest dairy free got no sauce on the fish dish when she asked if they could bring something DF with garlic to put on it they brought a dairy sauce? Then apologised took it away and never came back? The meat eaters were very happy with their food. My main (I am vegetarian) was very stodgy and a lot if it - not the type of dish I expected at Eric's. My halloumi starter was lovely. There was no acknowledgement from staff it was my birthday despite the 60th balloons we brought with us! Overall disappointing and I was really looking forward to it. Maybe a Tuesday is not the best day to go.

Sublime food in a beautifully styled restaurant and great service. A real treat.

Salmon was delicious, as was the sauces and vegetables. Asparagus & potato soup was spot on. Lovely decor and attentive staff.

Service outstanding very formal.4 stars But less like robots, I know the expectations are glamour and class, but we do live in one of the friendliest places in the country! I am from down south.

A gem in the outskirts of Huddersfield.

I have a garlic allergy and they gave me a huge amount of garlic in the maincourse what made me very sick the rest of the night and I couldnt go out anymore. If any allergies: I won't recommans this place at all

We weren't greeted on entry and had to wander upstairs to find someone. Food was very good. Service was okay once we'd been seen to.

Absolutely incredible food and staff are wonderful. Had the brie to start which was delicious, the chicken for my main which was also amazing and cheesecake for dessert which I would recommend. My boyfriend had the venison with tortellini, I tried a bit of both and would easily polish off a plate of the tortellini on its own - mouth wateringly rich and creamy. The gin select is also fantastic. Will definitely be returning and recommending to friends and family

Great food, lovely place, but my god was it hot in there. Read the room, please, it was boiling, I needed to get out before I passed out.

Have been to Eric’s a few times in the past, the food, drink and staff are as good as they have always been but I’m afraid Eric’s might be pricing themselves out of some peoples idea of value. 2 drinks, 2 course Sunday lunch for 2 people over £90. As some others have said not good value for what you get compared to other establishments offering the same type of cuisine. Shame.

We had afternoon tea a Christmas present. Everything very fresh the fish cakes were delicious. Excellent service by nice friendly staff.

I was not impressed by the food at all and I feel it’s gone down somewhat. Some staff appeared rude and abrupt. Sunday roast came out with peppercorns and mustard seeds all over it. Cauliflower soup tasted really earthy…Yuk! No check back on our food. I was told no baby changing facilities and the onus was on me to ring up and ask them, even though I’d already booked a table and requested a baby seat… I was told my option was to use the toilet floor. Quite honestly the whole experience was awful…far too many tables so feels extremely cramped. Would NOT recommend. 😞

Went to Eric's for my Birthday, and we had an excellent lunch, there is no other way to describe it. We had our doubts and concerns based on feedback from others who had been to Eric's on New Year's Eve 2021 and were very disappointed with the food and service, but no such issues on Christmas Eve 2022. Sometimes reviews are very useful in setting expectations, but we are all different, Eric is an excellent Chef, and the staff were very courteous and professional with their dealings with us. But, don't take this review as the reason to go or not go to Eric's, just take yourself there and see, feel and experience it yourself. Very Happy Customer (again)

Love it 5th December festive menu gorgeous staff on the ball lovely atmosphere I highly rate a visit.

We had our Christmas works do here, 19 of us, and we have absolutely little to no complaints! Super impressed, staff were very friendly and immediately sorted any mix up. Couldn’t ask for a better experience. The food was absolutely divine, we chose from the lunch and early dining menu. Amazing treatment, thank you for having us! Highly recommend.

We were really looking forward to celebrating Peter and Jennifer’s 50th wedding anniversary and chose Eric’s after recommendations from our neighbours and friends. We went on Saturday night and we will definitely not be rushing back. The waiter was arrogant and missed items off the menu. The waitress didn’t know what Alioli was. The food was average at best unfortunately. The starters were burnt. The Katsu Chicken was as hard as a rock. The Tempura Pawns consisted of 3 prawns and nothing else, not even a sauce and cost £16. The side salad came in a hot bowl and consisted of mixed leaf and carrot, a bargain at £4. We were rushed throughout the meal, not even offered a coffee or tea at the end. If they needed the table back early, they should have asked. The steak on the early bird was very good, the mash potatoes however looked grey and were very dry. My wife and I eat out regularly but this will not be on our list going forward. Geoff Flood

Fantastic restaurant. Superb food and great service. Not only was the presentation of the food immaculate, it was cooked perfectly for all four of us. The wines were good too! No complaints at all. Highly recommend.

Fantastic restaurant, I've been fortunate to eat at several Michelin restaurants and all aspects of Eric's is up there with the best of them.. highly recommend a visit .. the restaurant sits in the amazing West Yorkshire village of Lindley which is also well worth a visit

Hello, I am here to sadly say that my time at Erics was quite unpleasant. the staff was good maybe even great don’t even have a problem there at all. but on the way too Eric’s I saw some staff carrying bags from the store next door as this place prices ain’t even cheap at the store so I was disappointed to see this but the products used aren’t high end and not worth the high prices there at all. I’ve also heard many bad things about the owner how he acts around staff but that’s only rumours dont know if it’s true and wouldn’t want to say it is if not. Yours sincerely avid Food enjoyer

Ate here early August for our wedding anniversary. Never disappointed with the food or service. We both had the beef fillet. The best we've tasted. Great wine to go with it. Looking forward to our next visit. Great restaurant.

As Mrs C had been a few times and raved about how good it was, I thought it was time to finally try Eric's. And she was right. Very right. Everything was delicious. We came as a family to say farewell after travelling the UK for 5 weeks. And it was a fitting farewell. The two course for £25, before 6.30pm, was excellent value. Steak. Fish. Each dish was delightful. I'm only sorry that we don't live closer as I'd definitely be back. Highly recommended.
