Enish Restaurant in Lewisham

My wife and I ordered for Isiewu and Tiapa with fried plantains and fried yam. It was so unfortunately that the Isiewu meat were all bone no single meat. They packed bones in 3 takeaway plastics. I will advise any customers ordering takeaway from Enish Ilford to check, it's a lesson for me as well.

Absolutely terrible for people with allergens I do not recommend.this place is incompetent and not educated with allergies and extremely lazy with their labelling as everything even down to plain white rice is labelled as containing gluten as per allergen menu attached , which is obviously not the case if someone knew what they were doing . It’s a shame as Enish Dubai was a completely different experience and more accommodating so i recommend for them to liaise with that team and educate themselves.

It was on a Friday night, we called and was told that we could come for dinner and that we do not require to make a reservation. When we got there, we were served and everything was OK.However, after about 30mins of settling down, ordering drinks and food, we noticed that a group of people in another table were trying to wish a lady a happy birthday which turned out to be a total nuisance to the rest of the customers. They asked the DJ to stop playing the music, highjacked the microphone and started an event.The strange worst of it all was that the lady that high -jacked the mic from the DJ was speaking in Nigeria language(Yoruba) for about 30mins. We don't understand the language and was not sure what was happening, we asked to see the Manager for an explanation.The Manager told us that the group did not book the restaurant for a private event and that she has asked them to stop but they still ignored her. Many customers were upset and started leaving. We were so upset that we left the remainder of our food and drinks, paid our bills and left. This was the worst experience ever in a restaurant for me and my Family.

We were totally disappointed. So many staff standing around and yet the service was slow and poor. The prices were very high for substandard food. We will never be returning! We had to pay £50 per head deposit over the phone just to reserve a table. The restaurant had no record of it so it was lucky we had a screenshot of the bank transaction to prove it!

Very good food and drink. Excellent service by the waitress Funmi! Highly recommend the Old Kent Road Restaurant.

I went in for dinner, and ordered Egusi soup and poundo yam. After waiting for 45 minutes, the Egusi came and was filled with stones. For every spoon, you feel stoned in the soup. Yoruba people will say “oun pa okuta”, which was hugely frustrating and disappointing as I was quite hungry. Also disappointing for a 20 quid meal. I reported to the manager, but need to provide a review so they sit up.

This was a casual night with my friend. I ordered Efo riro and pounded yam but to my surprise the efo was bland with no stew. Lacks new taste and also taste like stale food. Please do better cause your restaurant used to be good. Thanks

Went to the old Kent road one. It was an average experience, I was sooo hesitant to go because of the other reviews and we nearly decided against it but gave it a shot. When we entered, I got this high sense of unprofessionalism but kept it moving. Odd things I noticed: When we were showed our seat, the waiter wanted to clean it first before we could sit down. Never had this happen before so it was a bit weird for me. We choose a different seat and one of the them was broken. I was scared they wouldn’t bring out our drink order but they did, they didn’t note it down anywhere tho.. our drinks were brought but when I asked for little things like ice.. I never got my order and had to chase them up. Bear in mind Irish cream is served with ice but no ice was given. I chased them up at the bar and was told it will come to me… simple ice….the woman never came and I had to get someone else to do it. The buffet was tiny so it was awkward as we all had to squeeze in to get our food. Good things to note: The food was soooo good!! I did find some bones in my food sometimes but not too much of a problem. Food 4/5. Was the food quality good for the price.. no.. I enjoyed it but my friend said she thought it was average. The waiters were actually nice. It was just a average experience but due to how things are unprofessionally run you can tell this experience could vary depending on the branch so I’m gonna stick to this one if me and my friend go out again.

Absolutely horrible experience today. I was given unwashed gizzard and told I didn’t know what I was talking about. The waitress went to speak to the manager, who never came over and debated it for 5 minutes while I waited holding this dirty gizzard in my hand. After I pressed the issue they agreed to exchange it. I asked for takeaway on separate bill and they brought it on one bill. I asked them to spilt the as I requested to start with. The takeaway bill came back with its own service charge. There was no stew included in the takeaway so I asked for some plain stew for the princely sum of £12. The container of stew was half empty. I was furious. I told them to fill it up properly. They insisted that this was their portion. I refused to pay for it. The manager decided to make an appearance holding the card machine to take payment. I told her to go and fill the container. She refused. I said I wasn’t paying for it. I explained that I should never have had to pay for the filthy gizzard they brought me even if they replaced it, they charged me a service charge on takeaway AND wanted to give me a half empty container of stew. My guest and I had spent £177 on 3 portions of rice and stew, two starters and drinks. This was not about the money. It was about the shambolic service. She said she wanted to make me happy. I said not paying for this stew would make me moderately happy given that they had wrongly charged me service of a takeaway She instructed the waiter to refill the stew. The waiter brought it back and we packed our things and left. I went out of my way to let the manager know that I was leaving. 5 minutes later, she is chasing after me and my guest on Oxford Street with a card machine in her hand asking me to pay for the stew. I couldn’t believe it. She was insisting that I pay for the stew. I flat out refused and offered her to take the stew. She refused and left. What a joke. Oxford street prices are one thing but Oxford Street prices and with Lewisham service is unacceptable

Where do I begin, highly unimpressed by the over priced Jollof rice. Tasted very bland, very little seasoning and no spice. Definitely not worth the £8.50 I paid. My 6 year old niece could have done better with rice and tomato sauce alone.

I have to say I really cannot fault the food in any way BUT WHAT THE HECK…… £2.99 for a 200ml bottle of lemonade, £3.99 for a glass of coke, £7 for a jug of apple juice, they are taking the mickey. Then to top it off as we had so much food left we requested to take the remainder of our food home and was told that there was a £1.00 charge for each plastic container. There was 4 of us and our bill came to £148 and as there was only 3 of us taking our food home you would at least thought they would not charge for the container….but they did. I was so appalled by the price mark up and we was not even in the west end but Walworth Rd and I imagine all their restaurants have the same prices. Not sure if I will visit an Enish again as the price mark up is totally unacceptable.

At these times every penny should matter..when you buy beans (ewa agoyin) for £17....the least it should do is taste nice....My Gawd...it was awful.

I have tried 3 branches of Enish so far. When I wanted to go for brunch, the hostess did not know which options were vegetarian. They said, "I don't know about that lifestyle". When I asked whether I could have a reduced price for the buffet since there was only plain rice and plantain I could eat, they said no. I went to another branch and they said if I chose a plain soup it wouldn't have meat or fish. However, when I ate the food it tasted a little fishy and when I took some leftovers home, I could taste and smell strong fish scent and even found scales in the food. The third time I ordered in. I called in advance as suggested by deliveroo for advice on ingredients but no one was able to inform me of what specifically was in each soup. It is very important that a list of ingredients are available (especially for allergens) and that vegetarian and vegan options are signposted. It would not be difficult to make one stew base or one soup that has no dried fish or meat of any kind in it, to be inclusive of the vegetarian and vegan community.

If you want to catch a vibe in london this is the best place to visit. The food is amazing and the service is excellent, all the staff is super nice especially manager and assistant manager are very caring. This is definitely my new spot. 😍

I visited this restaurant last month I am a nhs worker and as I’m sure you can understand under a lot of stress, I visited this restaurant after making my order over the phone for collection, ordering my food was awkward as the person handling my call was very blunt but I excused it and continued with my order for me and my family, when I arrived I was now faced with the blunt receptionist dammy she said her name was who was very unhelpful I entered the cubicle waiting for her to finish her conversation with a man who was explaining that he is a nhs worker and she accepted his order with the 50% discount WITHOUT seeing a card, he told her he would go home and collect his uniform just to prove to her he is a nhs worker she said it’s fine as he has come from far she will accept it this time, after she had finished I was unaware the store was doing any discounts and I don’t walk with my card as I’m scared to lose it but I keep my picture on my phone also like the man before me I explained this to her she refused to accept my proof I told her I’ll she her my active nhs emails, I can show her my bank card and driving licence which would confirm my name and photo as more proof she refused my sister then came and tried to reason with her about this she did not care one bit, as she continued to refuse my sister just said ok how much is it as the prices that are being advertised online and the prices in store are two different prices which is false advertising it wasn’t by much but it was the principle at this point, my sister explained the pricing issue to her stating that we’ve calculated it online and it’s different to the one she’s saying she said it’s been like this for ages and it’s not been updated so my sister said ok well we’ve driven from far can you do it at the price stated she said ok and came back and gave us the wrong change when my sister questioned the amount she turned round and said no she never said she was gonna do it for that amount which she did, my sister asked for her money back and simply gave back the food and called it a day, I AM DISGUSTED WITH THIS SERVICE I GOT, the amount of stress I’m currently facing with this pandemic to go somewhere and feel unappreciated like this was beyond me I would like this situation seen to as I feel she isn’t a good representation.

I went with my children for dinner yesterday and the experience wasn't pleasant. The meat stew was too salty, for a person with health issues such as high blood pressure, that would have been dangerous. More so, the taste was bad as the stew had been reheated so many times hereby make it taste stale. The worse was the suya platter, it was listed as assorted meat but I had more chicken than meat dipped in a suya mixture that tasted so awful. There was absolutely no flavour, the taste was bland. The waiter was very helpful though but we definitely won't be going back

My husband I decided to order take away from the Enish lewisham branch and ended up both being severely ill for 4/5 days, with a serious case of food poisoning. We ordered the pounded yam with mixed okra and beef.

Be careful if you don't have good tolerance for chilli. I love pepper but the amount of pepper in their food can make your stomach run for days. Their grilled fish is the smallest portion I have ever seen . But boy that chilli had me sick for 2 days.

La familia y yo queríamos algo de comida nigeriana, así que elegimos Enish Restaurant en Londres. No estaba lleno, que era perfecto, así que nuestra comida llegó bastante rápido. Todos disfrutaron de su comida, incluso mi sobrina, pero era un poco picante para ella. Para mí, disfruté mucho la mía. Cero quejas. Volvería otra vez y sin duda lo recomiendo.

The food is really really tasty and 100% authentic the chef knows what he/she is doing ...takes a little while to come but worth the wait out, male staff are really nice. Female staff are okay some just need to smile.

First time visiting this restaurant & will be the last. Had to wait 40 minutes for my food & the lights kept going off. I think there was something wrong with the lights because lights cut out 3 times & I was eating in dark for about 5 minutes. None of the staff said anything to there customers about the failure of the lights, not even an apology. I won’t be coming back here again. Staff do not smile & it looks obvious they do not want to be there by the look on their faces.

Went to Enish for a family birthday dinner with family visiting from America. We reserve a table. The waitress was very polite and patient. I have to say that I was impressed with the customer services as some Nigerian restaurants have poor customer services. The food was nice, large portion which was good. Reasonable price.

Visited the restaurant on Saturday and was served by the lovely Mabz. Excellent host, very polite and friendly. Made I and my friends feel at home. The food was incredible. I would highly recommend and would visit again.

I was served by Mabz, who was really friendly and made an effort to help my wife pick something she'd like. Really enjoyed the food, first Nigerian restaurant we'd been to. I'll definitely go again if I'm back in Lewisham anytime soon.

Please avoid this restaurant at all cost. 2hr wait for food that was bland and over priced. The staff are incompetent and do not understand how to take an order. This place is over hyped and under staffed.
