Always a delightful pleasure, lovely food in great surroundings with first class service.

We had the pleasure of eating here recently as a party of four - it was superb. Four starters, four mains and four desserts were ALL simply superb. We simply loved every single mouthful. Service is relaxed yet attentive with no fuss or fawning - brilliant, friendly staff. Driven past here hundreds of times and can’t believe it’s the first time I have actually been in. Highly recommend and will return - dog friendly too.

We've been today for a family meal so we were a large party of 8. I didn't catch the name of the lady serving us but she was absolutely fantastic, brilliant service. The food was also excellent, recommended! Thanks.

Went with the family for a nice meal and it didn't disappoint in the slightest. Really nice food all around. Had goats cheese to start, Moroccan lamb as a main and tiramisu for dessert. Whole heartedly recommend all 3 dishes, really really good all around.

On arrival, at 5, told we would have to leave by 6-30, but then staff seemed to wander about, before deciding who would serve which customer.

Drinks took a while to be brought although it was an early booking. Food was very good except for green beans which needed more cooking. Overall a pleasant experience.

Always enjoy coming to Dore and usually have the same thing...unfortunately on this occasion the fritters were very over cooked and poor compared to previous visits...however the service was great.

Very disappointed with service. We had 9 guests and had to ask to order drinks as no one came to our table. One starter did not arrive and eventually came very late. Waiter did apologise and said it would be removed from bill . Only 4 ordered desserts but eventually we had to cancel one as there was no sign of any of them arriving and our guest had to leave. Food was delicious as always but we won’t come here again when we have a big group, not sure whether it was waiting staff or kitchen staff but something wasn’t working last night.

Enjoyed first course. Ordered deserts but when they still had not arrived after 15 minutes we had to cancel and leave because of our afternoon engagement.

Food was good. Service, very polite, but slow. Maybe short staffed that night.

Nice to have some different choices on a pub menu. The Moroccan lamb & duo of pork were both lovely, though we felt the portion size was small. Disappointed that they'd run out of the rhubarb & gin crumble, but the chocolate brownie & lemon tart were very nice. Price was very good with the Wednesday 2 courses for 2 for £30 offer.

The food was as good as always; great choices, cooked beautifully. The service was exceptional, Sarah was very attentive, very accommodating & went out of her way to ensure we had the best meal possible. We will be back!

We enjoyed a family Sunday lunch, and especially appreciated the gluten free menu options and the service.

The central location I had asked for was ignored. The Seabass from the set menu did not have any vegetables other than potatoes, also it did not have a sauce.

I’ve been to the Ego many times before and always good but not so good on this visit. Service was pleasant but slow. The fish cakes were small dry and too well cooked (much better ones from Sainsbury’s). The seafood linguine was also not the best. The chicken was ok. We will not be rushing back until we hear of improvements.

Thank you to Ego for your hospitality and for catering for a large number of us. We had our wedding meal with you and the choice of menu was amazing and delicious.

We visited the Dore Moor Ego restaurant on Wednesday 18 September 2024 - to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We hadn't realised that each Wednesday is a 'Dine Out' special offer evening and were very pleased to select this option. The offer is extremely good value and the option of a bottle of wine for £10:00 also excellent. The meal was really good - especially the Paella! A really enjoyable evening.

First class service, amazing food and great atmosphere in an idyllic location on the outskirts of the Peak District affording fantastic views. Overall an outstanding venue for any form of dining.

Birthday meal on a Saturday evening, very busy but seated quickly, was in front of the serving pass but the table for 4 was very dark, poorly lit, felt like we were sat in the dark, one of our party is gluten free and had a good choice from a separate menu (part of the reason for choosing Ego) food overall was good apart from the steak which was awful, over cooked and full of gristle, most of it inedible, they did offer to cook another meal but didn’t want to wait as we would have finished our meals, our waiter Alfie? Was excellent and the meal was removed from the bill without question or fuss, we appreciate things sometimes aren’t right but it’s how a restaurant deals with it that makes the difference, will return but will leave ordering steaks for Miller & Carter, kebabs and gf lamb all good, finished off the meal with a desert cocktail which was lovely

Delicious meal from Lunch menu and good service. I would have liked to have used my Birthday voucher but sadly it can only be used on the A La Carte menu. Such a shame we couldn't use it on the lunch menu. Very disappointing. We preferred the choice of the lunch time food.

Excellent service ...good menu choice and great food !

We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and when we arrived we were offered a complimentary Prosecco each. The fillet steak was served cold and had to be reheated. They wrote “happy anniversary”on the desert plate which was nice but when we got home we realised we had been charged almost £16 for the Proseccos!

A pleasant evening - the food was good, the staff were attentive and, as it was not busy, the atmosphere was relaxed and not noisy. Well done!

The waiter who served us didnt show one smile and was completely ignorant. Took 30 Minutes To order drinks. And 45 Minutes to order our starters and mains. Food was cold, Asked for medium steak and and got well done. Friend asked for chicken and in their words it was “Chewy, Firm” Please try avoid this restraunt. Would not go again.

Stopped for Lunch. Two very nice, well priced wraps. Service was good. Would recommended. Need to go back and try more of the offerings.

Service slightly array today and food only warm not hot slightly disappointed this visit … however wine was knocked off the bill for the long wait for desserts I we didn’t even complain so thankyou

Sunday roast was delicious and at great value with the three course deal. Service was very disappointing, though. There were only four of us but it was almost 3 hours between first ordering and finishing our meal. In that time, we were only offered one drink at the start, were left without cutlery for 5 minutes after our food arrived/after pointing this out, and wait times for food were very long. We also had to wait an awkward five minutes to be addressed and seated at the front entrance upon arrival, despite several members of staff stood nearby, having seen us. Items were missing from each of our roast dinners, too, including no stuffing on the two trio roasts and no Yorkshire pudding on the nut roast. The Yorkshire pudding was rectified upon notifying staff but we didn't even bother pointing out the stuffing as everything else felt so long/arduous with the service by that point.

The food was incredible - the chicken/chorizo starter was so good! I had the hanging mixed kebabs - so tasty. My partner had the rump steak and was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Will definitely be back!

All the food was wonderful, the portion sizes and prices on kebab night was great and had the absolute best service by Grace!

Had a fabulous evening here as part of the dine out at Ego which is a fabulous deal. We were served by Laura who was fantastic as was the food which was yummy. The table we were allocated was not the best but we could have asked to change it which we didn’t. Not withstanding that it was a wonderful and economical evening out. Looking forward to booking again soon.

Very slow service. The pan roasted cod was very overdone to the point one corner of the fish was too hard to cut. Never asked if everything was okay. Had to ask for water. Will not be in a rush to return.

We went for the Steak Night which is incredible value. What’s not to like about a small rump steak for £10. The service was great as usual. We keep going back !

A lovely evening, excellent service by Grace, who was efficient and friendly. We had a very tasty and beautifully served meal and shall come again.

I have given 5 stars for the service received by our waiter!!Young lad, blonde hair, excellent and knew his stuff. Service based on the wait for food would have been only 2 stars.Nearly an hours wait for starters.....after an hour and half still had only eaten starters, ordered our puddings whilst still eating mains to ensure we we weren't waiting even longer. Based on this we would return but much earlier!

We've been here three times over the past few months. Overall I'd say it is very overpriced for what you get with small portions of uninspiring food. We've been surprised at how poor the food was for the price. Service was also slow and the toilets weren't that clean. There are definitely much better restaurants locally.

The service and food quality has definitely declined in the last year or so. I used to be a regular here - every month on average but lately the food quality is cheap and service shocking. Took 4 asks to get water to the table, mains took forever and spent 10 mins trying to flag down someone to pay the bill. The menu has always been big but it seems they can’t sustain it anymore and definitely cutting corners

Absolutely no complaints at all, in fact nothing but praise. Our server Sarah was magnificent in every way & the ‘happy birthday’ tiramisu was a special touch. Will definitely be back

We’ve been here a couple of times, first of all the food is incredible can’t fault it, great portions, presentation and taste- the main reason we keep returning. Lovely lay out and nice area too! The only downside is the slow service as it took 2 hours for 3 of us to be served our entire meal on a quiet Monday, i would also like to comment on the way the order is taken. It could be suggested for an updated POS system to take the food order as we noticed many issues with our bill as-well as other customers. The food deals were not automatically added and had to ask about this to change the pricing. Other customers had to do the same. And this isn’t the first time this has happened.

Always enjoyed this place so was disappointed with lunch today (22 July). Booked and arrived for 12pm. My husbands starter calamari was cold and his main course of minted lamb was cool, beans cold and indifferent quality. He complained after calamari was served and told it would be taken off bill. I had chicken liver pate to start with, which was ok and haddock chips and mushy chips for main. I should have complained at the time because although the haddock was ok I thought the chips tasted as though they had been reheated and on further reflection I’m sure they were.

The service was fantastic and the girl who served our table and many others was exceptionally good, I ordered the lamb keeba and so did my wife and we were both disappointed with it .

We always enjoy our visits to Ego at The Dore Inn. Always busy so sometimes have to wait for food but it is freshly cooked and always very tasty.

Our waitress at the Door Moor Inn in Sheffield was Grace and she was lovely. She made us feel welcome, was attentive and smiley throughout and didn’t make us feel rushed in any way and I thought she was great. Thank you

Oh dear, what a difference a year makes. Went back and ordered the fish and chips again and it was terrible. Chips leathery. Fish overcooked. Couldn’t give feedback as no check back and then no interest at the end of the meal. I think staff struggle to keep up and this was the victim of the heat lamps. Can’t recommend im afraid. —————————— (From a year ago) What a great place for something casual to eat. We had fantastic fish and chips here today. Deliciously flaky fish and a light and crispy batter. Staff are friendly and efficient but are rather run off their feet. Calorie counts on the menu are intriguing though rather depressing with all of their light bites bar one over 1000 calories! Perhaps some menu reformulation needed!

Not an overly friendly welcome when there was no one else in. The service was slow and the waitress didn't know how big the pizzas were. My Greek salad was 75% thickly sliced red onion. The lemon chicken I added was dry and no hint of lemon either. I left most of it. Pizza was good. Overall the staff don't create a welcome atmosphere.

We came here with our family to celebrate my dad's birthday. Some of us travelled more than a few hundred miles to get here and unfortunately traffic meant we were delayed. 4 of us arrived about an hour late which while out of our control they weren't happy with. They made it very known we had to give the tables back repeatedly saying it. It kinda ruined the whole experience for us. The food itself was OK nothing tremendous but of a decent standard. Service was slow to add to the delay. Drinks took 20 mins from order. No water was provided on the table (it was asked for but one jug was brought for 10 people). Conscious we were short of time we tried to order dessert early during mains ( starters were also ordered before the late arrivals). They declined to serve us dessert though they did at least provide 1 cheesecake slice (there were 10 people) for the birthday celebration for (which they charged us for) and on top of that we paid 10% gratuity on a £300 bill. All in all not overly impressed and wouldn't come back again from service alone.

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous food, especially loved the chorizo starter which was stunning! The staff were super lovely, especially the lovely person who helped guide me to the bathroom when I didn’t have my glasses on. At the ripe old age of 27, it’s that’s sort of care and support for my generation that I most appreciate. Definitely will be back.
