Easter Sunday meal with family . Service was friendly and initially great but we did get forgotten due to table position and staff dealing with 2 large parties . Starters nice but Mains arrived and the 2 ofus got who ordered the lamb we given 3 overdone ( advertised as pink) minute slices of lamb . We couldn’t get attention of our sever so ate what was otherwise a nice plate of food with wonderful gravy . Unfortunately the paid for extra side of cauliflower was practically raw with no cheese sauce and a bit of burnt cheese on top . Again unfortunately even after catching servers eye which she must have forgotten as didn’t then come over I had to get up and ask for more drinks ( empty glasses on table was a clue ) We did mention meat issue to a server later on but was just told that the lamb was popular that day . Well it was Easter Sunday and I’m not sure what I was supposed to do with that info .!! i would have taken this further but daughter booked it and I don’t want her to feel Bad . Puddings were good though . Like I say after paying £200 for 4 for the amount of the costliest ingredient was very poor value and I’m not sure if I would return

Visited as a party of 7. The service throughout was poor, the menu options were severely restricted and the long table we had kept sliding around. The food was good, and the manager (I assume) reduced the bill due to the poor evening, which was a nice gesture and made up for the experience somewhat. Disappointing overall, but the issues shouldn't take much to sort given the quality of the food we did get.

We came a few weeks ago and had an amazing time, the cocktails were delicious especially the porn star Martinis and Strawberry daiquiris,Abbie was fabulous as usual and ensured we were looked after from when we arrived until we left, that's why we're here again today for mothers day, keep up the good work ! x

A warm and calm relaxing evening

Just came in for a drink. Service is good. Atmosphere ok. But prices seem inflated to me - 2x medium wine @ £15.

We both enjoyed our experience at Ego, Dore this Monday evening with equally delicious main course, friendly and attentive service in a nicely presented restaurant. Glad we went!

Friendly and welcoming, booked late for a Saturday evening. Busy, well staffed and a good buzz. Thoroughly enjoyed my ribeye and the Moonshine!

Laura was very helpful when we asked for a table swap for our wheelchair bound mum to be able to sit near a window. Throughout the meal she was extremely polite & attentive even though it was a busy period.

Abbie was great! Really bubbly person nice to talk too.

The food as always was lovely although for the first time a little slow coming out. This is one of the few restaurants who's staff seem genuinely pleased you are there. The decor is good and always spotless. Thanks for being dog friendly. This is one of our happy places.

We had a wonderful time at Ego at Dore, made even better by our fantastic server, Alfie. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome. Alfie took the time to explain the menu and the available offers, ensuring we had all the information we needed. I was celebrating my birthday, and he went above and beyond to make the occasion special. He checked in on us throughout the meal, especially after our starters, to see if we needed anything extra. The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely—perfect for a special celebration. Alfie’s polite and attentive service truly stood out, making our experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend! We’ll definitely be back.

Friendly welcome and comfy surroundings. The food was all good but the Greek salad was exceptional, really fresh.

Had a lovely night last night celebrating my mum's birthday, the food and drinks were all fantastic and our server Amelia was brilliant and really polite, friendly and patient despite how disorganised we were! Would certainly return.

Excellent, best steak I've had in a long time, perfectly cooked and the prawns were amazing, chefs should be commended. We were served by Laura and again she was excellent. Will definitely be back.

Had lunch here and the food was very nice. Unfortunately the service was disappointing. Each course took ages to come, the waitress asked if we’d like to see the desert menu, then didn’t return to take our order. We had to go and find her to do so. As for trying to get someone’s to bring the bill, it was impossible. In the end we went to the bar as we couldn’t hang around any longer. Why don’t your staff go back to their tables after giving them a menu?

Lovely place, pleasant and friendly staff. Lovely food

The food is really good value and the location is lovely. The place is really run down. Carpet old and tatty walls all scratched. The upholstery really dirty or at least too well used to know if it’s dirt or just dye from jeans. It’s a dark space not very well lit and very little room to move. I had been years ago and the food was great, service great and the decor so decided to go back in December 2024 but I was really disappointed by how run down it had become and the staff were run off their feet so it took a fair while to order and have drinks and food delivered to the table. There are much nicer feeling places with great food nearby so will be sticking to those until it’s updated.

Me and my family had a lovely meal at Egos Dore on the 23rd January. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The staff were very helpful and the area where we were sat was really cozy. Thank you for a lovely meal.

We went for my birthday , on Wednesday lunchtime . The restaurant was full and we were glad we had booked ! Megan looked after us really well , our food was excellent and they even gave me a Birthday treat plate. We will be revisiting !

We visited early Saturday 5.30 and unfortunately 5 or 6 items from the menu were not available. When we can to order coffee at the end of the meal neither decaff coffee or early grey tea were available. I really don't think this is very good. Our server was great and kept apologising, it wasn't his fault obviously not enough food had been ordered for the weekend.

Food was cold parsnips were burned to ash and the veggie roast was like a pot of salt I left the nut roast . The Dessert and starter were very. The staff were so attentive and polite. Probably the best staff so we left them a tip.

Absolutely fab service by Sarah tonight for my wife's birthday. Very helpful with the menu choices. We were happy to have our dog join us for our meal and she enjoyed the biscuits on offer almost as much as we enjoyed our kebab and paella. A voucher from the ego club helped with the bill which was a nice bonus. Already planned next visit.

This was a most enjoyable evening the staff were excellent from confirmation of booking till we had our meal . There was 20 of us for a 90th birthday meal and everyone realy enjoyed it the food was amazing . Many thanks to all staff and Laura who served us once again thanks

Went for a Christmas meal. Good service even though it was busy and the food was great.

Sad to say that the food was not as good as usual. Service and staff excellent though.

A solid 4-and-a-bit. Food was perfectly nice without being outstanding, service was good considering we went in a sizeable party (11) in the run-up to Christmas when there were multiple other large groups (and loads of smaller ones) also there.

Very good mid week menu. Fabulous food at very reasonable price in a lovely location. Staff were attentive and very professional.

Wonderful experience. Our visit, as always, was extremely enjoyable. The fillet steak melted in the mouth and the peppercorn sauce perfect, possibly the best my son and I have ever tasted. My other guests chose the cod with risotto for the third consecutive time and, again, were delighted with the standard. The starters were equally well received. The service was excellent and we were delighted to be waited on by Abbie and Megan, with their cheerful, friendly approach while at the same time being very professional. We will be back!

I’ve been here a number of times, it was my favourite place for Sunday lunch. This visit was different, stuff didn’t seem to attend to us. We arrived at 16:10 Nobody came to our table for drinks until 16:35, we also ordered food at the same time. Our starter didn’t arrive until 17:05. Our mains arrived at 17:30. Dessert at 18:00. The lamp kofta starter was burnt. We had Sunday lunch, mains were not hot and the Yorkshire pudding were stale. Potato was extremely salty My dessert, Eaton mess came and the cream was warm. I didn’t have time to change it as we had to leave. Overall a quite disappointing visit to a restaurant I have raved about. Hopefully you just had an off day.

We had the pleasure of eating here recently as a party of four - it was superb. Four starters, four mains and four desserts were ALL simply superb. We simply loved every single mouthful. Service is relaxed yet attentive with no fuss or fawning - brilliant, friendly staff. Driven past here hundreds of times and can’t believe it’s the first time I have actually been in. Highly recommend and will return - dog friendly too.

On arrival, at 5, told we would have to leave by 6-30, but then staff seemed to wander about, before deciding who would serve which customer.

Went with the family for a nice meal and it didn't disappoint in the slightest. Really nice food all around. Had goats cheese to start, Moroccan lamb as a main and tiramisu for dessert. Whole heartedly recommend all 3 dishes, really really good all around.

Drinks took a while to be brought although it was an early booking. Food was very good except for green beans which needed more cooking. Overall a pleasant experience.

Very disappointed with service. We had 9 guests and had to ask to order drinks as no one came to our table. One starter did not arrive and eventually came very late. Waiter did apologise and said it would be removed from bill . Only 4 ordered desserts but eventually we had to cancel one as there was no sign of any of them arriving and our guest had to leave. Food was delicious as always but we won’t come here again when we have a big group, not sure whether it was waiting staff or kitchen staff but something wasn’t working last night.

Always enjoy coming to Dore and usually have the same thing...unfortunately on this occasion the fritters were very over cooked and poor compared to previous visits...however the service was great.

Enjoyed first course. Ordered deserts but when they still had not arrived after 15 minutes we had to cancel and leave because of our afternoon engagement.

Nice to have some different choices on a pub menu. The Moroccan lamb & duo of pork were both lovely, though we felt the portion size was small. Disappointed that they'd run out of the rhubarb & gin crumble, but the chocolate brownie & lemon tart were very nice. Price was very good with the Wednesday 2 courses for 2 for £30 offer.

We enjoyed a family Sunday lunch, and especially appreciated the gluten free menu options and the service.

The central location I had asked for was ignored. The Seabass from the set menu did not have any vegetables other than potatoes, also it did not have a sauce.

Thank you to Ego for your hospitality and for catering for a large number of us. We had our wedding meal with you and the choice of menu was amazing and delicious.

I’ve been to the Ego many times before and always good but not so good on this visit. Service was pleasant but slow. The fish cakes were small dry and too well cooked (much better ones from Sainsbury’s). The seafood linguine was also not the best. The chicken was ok. We will not be rushing back until we hear of improvements.

We visited the Dore Moor Ego restaurant on Wednesday 18 September 2024 - to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We hadn't realised that each Wednesday is a 'Dine Out' special offer evening and were very pleased to select this option. The offer is extremely good value and the option of a bottle of wine for £10:00 also excellent. The meal was really good - especially the Paella! A really enjoyable evening.

First class service, amazing food and great atmosphere in an idyllic location on the outskirts of the Peak District affording fantastic views. Overall an outstanding venue for any form of dining.

Birthday meal on a Saturday evening, very busy but seated quickly, was in front of the serving pass but the table for 4 was very dark, poorly lit, felt like we were sat in the dark, one of our party is gluten free and had a good choice from a separate menu (part of the reason for choosing Ego) food overall was good apart from the steak which was awful, over cooked and full of gristle, most of it inedible, they did offer to cook another meal but didn’t want to wait as we would have finished our meals, our waiter Alfie? Was excellent and the meal was removed from the bill without question or fuss, we appreciate things sometimes aren’t right but it’s how a restaurant deals with it that makes the difference, will return but will leave ordering steaks for Miller & Carter, kebabs and gf lamb all good, finished off the meal with a desert cocktail which was lovely

Delicious meal from Lunch menu and good service. I would have liked to have used my Birthday voucher but sadly it can only be used on the A La Carte menu. Such a shame we couldn't use it on the lunch menu. Very disappointing. We preferred the choice of the lunch time food.

We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and when we arrived we were offered a complimentary Prosecco each. The fillet steak was served cold and had to be reheated. They wrote “happy anniversary”on the desert plate which was nice but when we got home we realised we had been charged almost £16 for the Proseccos!

A pleasant evening - the food was good, the staff were attentive and, as it was not busy, the atmosphere was relaxed and not noisy. Well done!

The waiter who served us didnt show one smile and was completely ignorant. Took 30 Minutes To order drinks. And 45 Minutes to order our starters and mains. Food was cold, Asked for medium steak and and got well done. Friend asked for chicken and in their words it was “Chewy, Firm” Please try avoid this restraunt. Would not go again.

Stopped for Lunch. Two very nice, well priced wraps. Service was good. Would recommended. Need to go back and try more of the offerings.

Sunday roast was delicious and at great value with the three course deal. Service was very disappointing, though. There were only four of us but it was almost 3 hours between first ordering and finishing our meal. In that time, we were only offered one drink at the start, were left without cutlery for 5 minutes after our food arrived/after pointing this out, and wait times for food were very long. We also had to wait an awkward five minutes to be addressed and seated at the front entrance upon arrival, despite several members of staff stood nearby, having seen us. Items were missing from each of our roast dinners, too, including no stuffing on the two trio roasts and no Yorkshire pudding on the nut roast. The Yorkshire pudding was rectified upon notifying staff but we didn't even bother pointing out the stuffing as everything else felt so long/arduous with the service by that point.

The food was incredible - the chicken/chorizo starter was so good! I had the hanging mixed kebabs - so tasty. My partner had the rump steak and was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Will definitely be back!
