10 out of 10 experience for sure! Unique romantic setting on a stationary boat. Lots of different birds swimming by for entertainment, while enjoying dish after dish of tasty Asian dishes.

A quiet lunch time, food and service were great. Friendly and welcoming. We had vegetarian starters and a couple of mains. Service was just the right speed, not too fast so we felt rushed etc. great choice of non alcoholic drinks as well.

We were a group of 3 for the Sunday ‘eat as much as you want’ Sunday buffet. A bargain at £14.95 per person. Starters included prawn crackers, prawn toast, chicken wings, spring rolls and chicken satay. All very tasty, particularly the chicken satay and prawn toasts. Main dishes included a noodle dish, sea bass, pork curry, beef in black bean and veggie options. Food is refilled on a regular basis so that the food is always hot and fresh. Friendly and efficient service. Very reasonably priced drinks. We have been regular visitors to East over the years and have never had a bad meal. The pub downstairs is definitely worth a visit too. Great choice of beers, ciders, wines etc. A large outside area and outdoor bar for those rare days when it isn’t raining!

We had some drinks outside in the Charters bar and loved the bustling cheerful atmosphere in the late afternoon sun. We had booked a table for 6 and a well behaved baby. Service was quick, efficient and cheerful. To start with we had vegetarian and meat platters starters to share. Our mains were also tasty, good portions of quality and nicely presented food. The atmosphere was lovely. We’ve been before and know we can rely on a good time.

My boyfriend is a fisherman so I was after some brownie points for bringing him here. The food was amazing! We took a recommendation from Calum behind the bar downstairs and were not disappointed (no 56 btw, crispy belly pork). I ordered crispy chilli beef which was the best I’d ever had and he ordered a seafood dish. Lovely calm atmosphere, we will definitely be back again.

Our first visit, Chosen after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. Had my son visiting with his girlfriend who preferred to eat food from her country, we were very impressed with the service, exceptional food. Enjoyed by all. We had a set menu including dessert. A long relaxing enjoyable lunch.

We were having a drink in the bar downstairs whist visiting the city and decided to eat here rather than having to walk back into town to find a restaurant. That was a great decision! The food was excellent - plenty of it and extremely tasty. The service was really good too - attentive and friendly.

We don't live in Peterborough so we don't eat there often but we had visited here about a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed it then . This time I thought I should write a review because everything was perfect , the ambiance ,the food ,the service and the staff could not have been better .We visited on 31st October 2023 and the staff were exceptional , efficient and attentive but not overbearing and that , in my opinion , is what makes a fine restaurant just that little bit better than others.

Asian dining on a boat! The "East Restaurant" and the "CharterS Bar" share the same ship towed to the embankment area in Peterborough. The "East" is on the upper floor and offers solid Asian food at moderate prices. They had a two-course dinner offer the night I dropped by, a starter and a mains for UKP 12. Turned out to be rather nice indeed! I found the atmosphere to my liking and the service to be efficient, if not terribly friendly (restaurants never like a solitary eater). All in all, a decent option in Peterborough, a little off the beaten track. Oakham bottled beers are cheaper here than on tap at The Brewery Tap! No outside seating though AFAICT, unless the vast seating area next to the quay belongs to the restaurants and the pub - it was completely empty upon my visit. And there's a good pub just below.

Four of us had dinner on a very busy Wednesday evening last week We had two vegetarian, one chicken and one duck dish for starters and all were excellent For mains we had one vegetarian, one king prawn and two chicken dishes. In addition we had some rice and some vegetarian noodles Everything was really good as was the service

We enjoyed a really lovely meal here in a wonderful location on the river. As well as enjoying good food we were entertained by the antics of the swans on the river. It's easily accessible with parking not far away. Would definitely go again when close by.

I like this place! It's so nice eating on the canal side and watching the swans go by, makes me feel like a first class passenger on the Titanic! (Although sadly no Leo DiCaprio to be seen ;) ) Perfect amount of food you can pretty much eat as much as you want of whatever you want. Only thing I didn't like was the buffet table- purely because it's kinda clumsy for a larger person like me to serve myself without knocking stuff over or knocking into anyone... But overall wonderful place, lovely staff, great vibe. Would come here every Sunday if I could lol

Absolutely amazing food, cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The ambiance was beautiful and relaxing especially with the overlooking to the river. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and polite. They were busy, but didn't show an ounce of stress. This should be an example to show other restaurants in Peterborough who constantly fail at customer service. Very impressed with the waiter who told us what was in each dish, even pointing out the chillies. A very friendly environment and the perfect venue for couples who have started dating, or parents taking out their teens, or just friends enjoying a bite to eat. I will definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family. Absolutely wonderful experience. Now completely stuffed, but we'll worth it and great value for money.

I've heard great things about this place but I have to admit that I was not blown away. I thought it was good value for money but there was nothing really outstanding. It was a but noisy because of the music from the bar below and I was sat in a draft. The food didn't blow me away . It was all a bit meh really!

We have been to East today for the first time, and we were not disappointed! We were greeted by Bee, and the service was great. The food was so good, so good! We both really enjoyed our food and time today. Thank you Bee, we will definitely be coming back!

I have visited East several times over the last few years, ordering different food from the menu (apart from the heavenly beef which is a firm favourite!) and each time I have loved the food, setting and service. Would highly recommend.

Three of us visited East this week and the standard of everything was very good The service was excellent and the staff friendly All our food was amazing and we all left very clean plates Our starters were sweetcorn croquettes, tempura vegetables and Mandarin rolled toasts Our mains were chilli prawns, Singapore vegetable curry and Singapore chicken curry We also had some vegetarian noodles and a couple of rice dishes All were just so good

We visited East on a busy Saturday night As a result of lockdown this was our first visit for over 2 years For starters we had sweetcorn croquettes and ribs and for mains it was Panang Curry and sizzling prawns. Also coconut rice and noodles Everything we had was really nice and the service was very good

We ate here last night with friends The food was as ever exceptional However the ladies toilets were disgusting , filthy a wait of 15 mins as they are the only ladies loo for both EAST at the outside Charters bar ( which was heaving ) Surely a restaurant has to provide clean and accessible toilets

We went along for the Sunday buffet, and it was exceptionally good. The choice of food was excellent, including vegetarian for my daughter in law. It was hot and plentiful, and topped up as soon as something ran out. The staff were exceedingly polite and friendly. We didn't feel crowded at the buffet table. People drifted up and back, but at no time did we have to queue. We'll definitely be going again.

Honestly, this place never fails to deliver! We took our friends there for the first time and they loved it also. The food is always exceptional and I can't wait to go back. The lamb massaman was delicious as was the prawn pad Thai. In fact everything is!

The food here is just amazing!I have loved the food on each of my visits here.However, the night that I went here on Saturday 2nd October the staff were brilliant. I thought they were full, yet I still went to see if they had any no shows or a table free.They did and were happy to sit us for a meal.It was so tasty and the service by the staff was great.

My partner and I recently visited East to celebrate our anniversary. The staff were very friendly and there was lots of variety on the menu. The staff made us aware of which food was not available before we ordered and were very attentive. The food was wonderful and light. Definitely cooked fresh and not at all stodgy! We can’t wait to return!

Have dined here on several occasions but not for some time. My husband and I went there last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was the first time we have dined out in almost 2 years, due to the Covid situation. I was a bit anxious but needn't have worried. The service and food was excellent and we had a really lovely evening. Will definitely be going back again.

What a great find this restaurant was, from the minute we arrived to when we left we were made to feel welcome.The food in East is amazing and having visited on a Tuesday we were pleasantly surprised with £10 Tuesday - amazing value.Lovely friendly happy staff made us feel right at home Thank you for a lovely evening, if we lived closed we would definitely be visiting again and would highly recommend your restaurant

Firstly I had the cashew chicken dish , chewie dry chicken ! Thank god for the sauce it was served in as that made it sort of palatable although was very very sweet ! Rendang chicken was good Thankfully , The flavour was incredible, could taste the spices used also chicken was moist which was quiet lifting considering the rest of the dishes were a let down.Honey spare ribs !, now although they fell off the bone , the taste was bland and had no taste of honey to say the least! Egg fried rice... well this had been nuked beyond nuked ! Dry, stodgey and the only way I could eat this was to dump.it straight into my Rendang chicken, at least it made it tasteful. In my years of cooking authentic cusines and years of roaming restaurant after restaurant for creditable food , this really didn't hit any nails on heads as an experience of Authenticity.£30 not well spent at all When mentioned to the staff! Nothing was said just dishes taken.....Was really hoping for this to be a little gem in the centre of Peterborough but unfortunately I can safely say I won't be back for a round two..!Such a shame Now on to the Charters bar down stairs on this delightful barge restaurant/pub The Oakham Ales served were crisp , clean and overall a splendid pint to have of the ones on offer today..... Will be back to this place for a beer at least

I am a huge lover of oriental cuisine, East Restaurant was a great find as we were able to explore multiple asian cultures in one menu. The staff couldn't have been nicer and we felt very safe with their covid measures. A must visit when in Peterborough.

This was our first dinner after the lockdown. Not disappointed. Delicious food, friendly service. Will definitely come back again.

I love this place usually my favourite restaurant in town however the food i recievied after waiting over an hour on deliveroo was the poorest I have ever experienced here. The sharing platter starter was luke warm with the tempura veg soggy and the dip pots of hot sauce and wasabbi open in the box. I don't even like wasabbi. The heavenly beef was tasteless and tough which is normally one of my favourites much to disappointment and then to top it off the chicken lettuce wraps were again tastless no flavour . The whole order a waste of time and money. I can understand waiting a long time but for the food not to even taste fresh from the restaurant I rave about most in town. Disappointed to say the least. I won't be ordering again

Great food. Great service. Great value for money. One of the most memorable meals in a long while. Fresh and simple, and from a menu with interesting variations on East Asian food, predominantly Thai. The £10 Tuesday Supper Menu provided terrific value for money. Efficient and friendly service. This place is very highly recommended.

Arrived with my two friends and was warmly greeted.We sat at our table with River side view. The service from our charming maitre d, was informative and polite. The food arrived beautifully presented, hot and delicious. Three ladies who lunch, will defiantly be back!

the meal service was amazing, but on the way out I fell over as the decking wasn't covered in chicken wire for grip. I hurt

Food is exceptional, and staff are so accommodating! We went with my little boy who is nearly 2 I thought it might not be very suitable for him but they have high chairs and suggested best things for him to eat, the staff were so kind to him too! This place is a proper gem!

Whatever they are paying their Chef, its not enough. He is a magician and the food is truly magical. The massaman beef is undoubtedly the best I have tasted. I go to Thailand every year and I still haven't tasted one as nice as East.One word....INCREDIBLE

We wanted to make the most of the extra day (29th Feb) so decided to go for lunch at East and it was brilliant! Such tasty food and great service with a good atmosphere and plenty of diners. We’ve been coming here for years off and on and it always not just meets, but exceeds, our expectations. If only other restaurants could do the same! Thank you East for a memorable day.

A very lovely meal on a pretty barge. The food was excellent value and quality, some of the best Chinese/Asian I’ve had in a while!

Great quality of food and great variety. The prawns and other pieces of meat are really good size, not tiny little things like in most Chinese restaurants. Really good service and nice views of the river. The manager (sorry I don’t have his name) is really welcoming and friendly. We had some ribs and wanted to take the bones home for our dog, he immediately went and got a plastic tub and reminded me about them when I left. Amazing evening.

Our friend adviced us to go here. The best advice we had for a long time. Delicious food. Tastefull, fresh, beautifull place and very friendly personel. So, two Dutch people on a Dutch boat had a very nice evening. Super.

Went today for the Sunday Buffet with my family, just to say that we have dined here before and we could not fault either the food or the service. This time however we were all disappointed. The buffet was limited and looked a little tired. The food was replenished but lacked variety I also felt that the standard had slipped a little.Sad really as I hoped this would be a family treat. We will not go for the buffet next time at all.

I booked this as a treat for my sons 10th birthday as he loves Asian food. I thought I'd go for an early booking to make sure there was plenty available so we opted for 12:15.

The food we had on this visit was, almost, all very tasty and very good. There were no complaints about the Tempura Vegetable and Mandarin Rolled Toast for starters. Similarily the Volcano Chicken, Coconut Rice and Pad Thai Noodles. However the Chilli Prawns could have done with being a lot hotter

I always marvel at how this fairly large restaurant caters for it's guests with such a small kitchen .. but they do and the food here is quality. All freshly cooked and served pipping hot to the table.

Went on a Tuesday night with 3 colleagues , lovely setting and can imagine in the summer months is would be nice to look outside.

Nice setting on a boat, we ate early at 5.30. Not bad for kids can see swans/ducks out of window. The service was fine.

We hadn't eaten at East for over a year, but I chose it for my wife's birthday surprise. It's location is excellent as we were going to a show at The Key Theatre. We weren't disappointed. Great service Superb meal/food Thank You

I visited here on my own whilst working in Peterborough. I booked a table on line as a colleague said it was usually busy - and it was! It’s a lovely converted barge on the river. Decoration is lovely- would be a great place for a romantic dinner! The staff were lovely & there were plenty of them which is unusual as I’m normally trying to find a member of staff! The menu was plentiful and there was a good choice of deserts (I have included a picture of my Tempura Ice Cream desert). Would definitely recommend a visit

Went for a bite to eat on a Saturday evening, was able to get a table for two without booking at 17:30 provided we vacated it by 19:00.Itwas fully booked later on in the evening.

Food is cooked to perfection, staff are so polite and accommodating and the view and setting is gorgeous and so romantic! Just watch out for the 10% optional service charge as they do not tell you about it but if you ask they really don’t mind removing it :)

Delightful staff, quick service, crisp linen tablecloths and good ambience. The food was a bit disappointing though with beef over cooked and all meat rather large chunks to manage with chopsticks. Green chicken curry was good.

Arrived was seated promptly helpful waiter. They do a lunch menu but we ordered off the main menu and it was great. Both veg and meat mixed starter plates v good. Wine and drinks selection is v broad. Spicy prawns. Fish curry on lunch menu. Noodles . rice. Sizzling prawns all great dishes nothing at all to complain about. Service was swift and food fresh tasty nicely served on hot plates! Kids enjoyed it even though it was their first thai meal. Sitting on a barge is great loads of ducks and swans to see. You can see into the kitchen which is nice to see where the food is prepped did not begrudge them the service charge they worked hard and the food is good.

We spotted this place while walking into town from our hotel and the restaurant setting is lovely.

Wat een bijzonder leuke verassing was het om te eten bij dit restaurant. Het Thaise eten is gewoon helemaal prima, maar vooral het binnenvaartschip uit Zierikzee waarin ze gehuisvest zijn, is een super leuke plek om te verblijven. Op het bovendek is het grote restaurant, maar loop vooral ook even naar het toilet, dat vind je benedendeks bij de superrrr lange bar. Die bar lijkt me ook een hele leuke plek om te verblijven. Helaas hadden we daar de tijd niet voor. Door het raam zagen we steeds grote groepen zwanen zwemmen.

We’ve been to East several times now and it never disappoints. There is a good range of food with dishes from several countries. Photos attached show the main dishes. Try the fish, superb. The barge is air conditioned for hot days. The staff very friendly. Well worth it. Moderately priced

we were a large party & it was a fantastic dining experience. the place itself being a converted barge meant it was full of character. everything was v clean & well presented. we opted for the 4 people set menu - but extended for 9 people. & it was delicious. all tastes were catered for by the extensive menu. the food was fresh & delicious , full of flavour. service was very impressive - friendly, professional, attentive, smiling & smartly turned out. Dougie was a star. all in all this was a top notch excellent meal & experience

Whilst visiting Peterborough and walking through the town I was looking for a good chinese restaurant. I asked a taxi driver who told me about the 'boathouse' on the river not more than a ten minute walk away.

Visited this evening weds 29/05/2019 for the first time for my partners birthday meal. East was recommended to us and we are so glad we visited! Lovely staff, gorgeous food & beautiful scenery! We will most definitely be visiting again! Thank you 😊

A good vibe as we descended the steps from the Town Bridge to the embankment, outside bars and a lot of after work drinkers relaxing in the evening sun. East is situated on the top part of an old barge and looks really attractive on entering, clean well laid out and had a warm and friendly feel. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful We had starters and main course, could not manage a desert. Food all looked good on the plate and tasted even better. I ordered rainbow rice as an accompaniment but it could have been a main dish both by size and taste. My first visit to East but it won't be my last.

We went for drinks after work and sat in the garden. It was possible to choose from the Charters menu or the East (takeaway) menu. I chose East and the food was delicious. I did take the food into Charters and ate it there when the temperature dropped outside. So perfect arrangement. Great food and value.

Evening get together with friends, booked a table for 5. Great Asian food at a reasonable price and good service. Would be nice to be able to have real ale from the bar below.

I’ve eaten here a few times but not for 5 years having moved away. It’s great to see it’s just as good if not better than when I left.

Matthew, Jez, Sam and myself form what we like to call our Diners' Club. We try to eat out on a monthly basis, but sometimes it's less frequent. As this (Saturday 27 April) would be our first dinner for a while we decided on the East Restaurant. Previous experiences here had been good and we hoped for the same again.

Went with friends last minute decision but what a good call. plenty of tables and we were ordering very quickly.Food was lovely, hot and well cooked. We had a good laugh and there was a nice vibe. Definitely go back.

We was looking forward to visiting the Sunday buffet at this restaurant for a couple of weeks and was really disappointed with the food. Very limited and basic offering of bufffet, after 1 small plate full of food we had sampled everything on offer. Staff were friendly but certainly wouldn’t recommend anybody making a special trip to visit this restaurant.

Having been here for dinner a few times and really enjoying it, we decided to try the Sunday buffet for my birthday treat.

The food here is really tasty - I especially recommend the vegetable Singapore curry. All of the staff are very friendly and attentive. Perfect evening.

The service was very good, they are attentive and accommodating. My partner did not like the volcano chicken and to that they responded very well and got him something else.

A very disappointing meal. Poor food. Full of salt. Rice over cooked. Main course didn’t get the additional chilli requested. Won’t be rushing back...

Had food ordered for a takeaway to feed the office. 7 people all in all at lunch time. Food was good. Thai dishes were authentic and tasty. Chinese dishes also. I would recommend the visit and I will be back myself for sure.

Should wait two hours for the food then you will have very cold Food looks like done yesterday. I will never go there

I went here on a Friday night, it was very busy but luckily we were able to be seated! We were very lucky. The food was nice, there were many variations such as Thai, Korean and Chinese food. So plenty to choose from! The rainbow rice is amazing, so delicious! The duck was really nice too but wasn't keen on how sweet the sauce was on top. I really like the location of this restaurant and the pub downstairs isn't loud at all So you still have a cute luxury type dining too! I knocked off one star because there was a weird smell that would linger past at occasions, extremely off putting! Smelt like drainage! And also, I ordered coke and was given pepsi! Big no no, you should always ask someone if they want a substitute not just being it. So hence why 4 star and not 5. Very nice restaurant though, I would come back!

We went back to East on Saturday and had a great table by the window to watch the swans glide by. There were new additions to the menu. My wife had the sea bass in banana leaf which she said was fabulous. I had the Korean confit duck which was good but I prefer it crispier so it just falls off the bone. The sea bass dish was £18.50 so when you add the price of noodles and rice it's not a cheap night out with starters and dessert. And the wine list is a bit pricy. But the service is first class, it's a lovely riverside venue and the food is very good so it is worth it.

I come here whenever I'm in Peterborough for work. Food, service and atmosphere is excellent. The restaurant is an actual boat and tables are well laid out so you still feel it's spacious. Food comes in a selection of different far eastern styles and is well cooked. Lastly the staff were very friendly, efficient and attentive. Today the lady offered to change my dish on her own accord as she felt it wasn't cooked well enough (a first for me and was very impressed). Thank you East!

Come here every year to celebrate my birthday with my bff. (Who said I’m autistic?). Food was great and service was polite and efficient. Great atmosphere in a unique setting (a barge). God bar below for before/after meal drinks. A little pricey, but worth it for a special occasion. Will be coming here again next Birthday - surprise, surprise!

I have now visited this restaurant several times during my stay in Peterborough. Each time we visited we found the staff very friendly and the food is excellent. The menu has a very good selection and good portions as well.

First time visit to East we were pleasantly surprised by the surroundings and location. The menu is a little different from the usual Asian restaurants we normally go to and has a good variety for everyone’s taste. We didn’t have to wait long for the food to arrive and when it did it was delicious. The staff are all very friendly and the price is pretty reasonable. We will definitely be paying East another visit.

This was my first visit to East, the staff were friendly and helpful, the menu has a good selection and covers most tastes, the portion sizes and just right and the prices are fair.

Im going to make a somewhat bold statement and call East one of the best Restaurants in the city. It’s not cheap, but the food is excellent- do yourself a favour and have the tempura vegetables.

Me and my wife stayed in Peterborough and chose East for our anniversary. Service was excellent and the food was good. I was quiet impressed my the restaurant as it is situated in a actual boat. Very romantic . We will be definitely back
