Great ole fashioned pub. Food only served two Sundays a month. Beef, lamb,pork cooked over hot coals. Pork is to die for. Micro brewery Dark Tribe brewed on site.

Lovely quaint local. My favourite place to enjoy a drink beside the Trent. It's a shame the weather has been so bad. It used to do a nice steak though I'm not sure if it still does food.

Good beer and friendly staff will definitely return

This is a traditional pub located on the banks of the Trent with great outdoor seating to take in the river views and peaceful countryside You can bring your dog and it is a lovely dog friendly atmosphere Joe the manager is exceptional He makes this a wonderful place to visit Sadly they only do Sunday lunch once a month but it is it’s superb and well worth the wait We usually book early as it is always full This is definitely worth visiting if you are around The local characters are a very friendly bunch x

Great beer, great service...one of my favourites.

This pub is unique, in so far as it has its own brewery. It serves fabulous home cooked food. The menu is small - which is great, as the chef can concentrate on making a small selection of dishes fabulous. Sunday lunch is fabulous. The taste of the food is unbelievable. If you want a rural, no frills pub, with friendly staff, a warm welcome, great food and a great pint - this is a place for you. If you want fancy surroundings and plush decor - maybe give it a swerve.

Bike night , plenty attending despite the rain. Cracking cheeseburger and Yorkshire tea, what's not to like?

Very nice pub with own brewery located on the east bank of the river Trent, there is loads of seating outside overlooking the river.. Joe is the landlord and the brewer (very friendly). Unsurprisingly its in the 2022 Good Beer guide. Locals will certainly know of this pub and I'm glad I found it. Very recommended.

We went for Sunday lunch with the dogs yesterday and I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. It's so rare now to find a place that cooks a deliciously fresh Sunday dinner but this place nailed it. Crispy potatoes, insanely creamy mash, lovely lamb which had an amazing smoky taste, caramelised carrots, greens and a huge Yorkshire pudding! I will be returning to taste this again!

The best Sunday lunch I've had. Sooo tasty, will be returning very soon. Staff friendly and welcoming.

A little gem on the banks of the river trent serving quality ales some that are actually brewed themselves we had not booked but the waitress Sally was amazing and managed to fit us in for Sunday Carvery the meal was perfect everything locally sourced and the service second to none if you can find a better Sunday lunch in the area good luck to you prices very reasonable booking advised

Love this place. River side pub, good beer, nice food and pleasant staff.

Great place to have a pint and a chat. Soon the restaurant will be open too. But in the meantime, you can have takeaway or bbq on most weekends.

Came from wales to visit area googled dog friendly pub and decided to go to dog and gun good choice had a warm welcome good service waitress very helpfull on choice the meal was very good ordered the ale pie very enjoyable experience if back area will def visit again 👍👍

Quality village pub. Warm and comfortable, with 3 Dark Tribe beers brewed on site. Great beer garden by the river, and stone steps to help you get on a horse (just in case).

I go to this pub every time I go home to see my parents. It is a proper pub, not some fancy imitation themed pub. The pub makes its own beer which tastes as good as any I have ever tasted; I live in London and if the Dog and Gun's beer was served in a London "craft beer" pub it would easily be £6 a pint. I last went 3 days ago and there was a roaring coal fire in the bar area which was kicking out lots of cosy heat. The bar man is alway friendly and welcoming. I have been to 100s of pubs and I will say this is my favourite, it is the epitome of what a local traditional county pub should be.

Fantastic sunday roast beef here today. Excellently cooked. Dogs welcome. Will definitely return.

New owner sweeps clean, quality ales real nice pub grub cooked fresh from local produce, landlord a real star, if your in the local it's a real must, traditional no frills pub with ale brewed on the premises, loved it :-)

Lovely lunch, fresh ingredients all home cooked, friendly welcome and served in a traditional pub / restaurant (sadly few of which exist anymore). Wouldn't have hesitated giving 5 stars if food had come out a little quicker (but it was busy, and everything cooked fresh). Was well worth the wait.

Saw the reviews here online and decided to give it a try. Couldn't get in the first time we tried fully booked all day. So we booked for the week after .. and oh my god it was deffinately worth the wait. We are used to carvery, but this was so much better quality it was beautiful will deffinately be coming back soon and then again tinted the evening menu. thanks x

Once you've been, you'll want to come back! Great atmosphere, fabulous food. We never leave when we're supposed to.

Cosy pub on the bank of the Trent, with their own craft beers and nice atmosphere. Good place to go on a sunny day for a bike ride or walk, as the river is a perfect backdrop for a drink.
