Family friendly pub, serving great food and fantastic service. Lovely staff who are happy to help, nothing is too much trouble. Plenty of play equipment for little ones. Now our preference over the The Rovers Tye, due to it having a park and being very family friendly.

Been coming here for a while and it's one of the better pubs in the area. It's always been clean, friendly and welcoming. If we are coming for food with family or just for a drink. There's a park out the back that keeps the kids entertained while we wait for food. Even a nice large beer garden.

Popped into the dog and pheasant for a quick drink with the family. All staff were welcoming and service was quick. Very clean and looked after inside and outside. Kids enjoyed the garden area with the play apparatus which is always good to have to keep them entertained. Will definitely be visiting again.

Popped down this afternoon. With the Mrs. Service was excellent. Nice atmosphere. Unfortunately didn't get any food. Just got a few drinks. Totally happy with the service.

Great brunch menu, lots of choices for everyone, vast improvement on before and my full English was cooked to perfection, will be returning soon.

Popped in for lunch and a beer and was pleasantly surprised at the cost and quality. The pub looks much brighter since the refit and the atmosphere was great. If you want somewhere with friendly staff and efficient service I would highly recommend a visit

A lovely welcoming pub for all, the beer is good with sky tv to watch all sports, a nice play area for family’s with kids outside the back to enjoy the sunshine. The staff are all welcoming with a good team member Aaron to help run the team. Top PH

A great place to relax after hodpitsl appointments. Very confident in what they do. As good as many pubs we've been to. Christmas meal last year in Nottingham (same chain) was fabulous.

Love the pub, was worried after the revamp. It would have lost its atmosphere, however it's has created a new vibe. The staff are fantastic, really helpful. Fun, but professional. The food is really good for the prices, and they do great deals throughout the week. As a NHS employee, they also do a good discount on food. Throughly recommend, especially when the the suns out. Nice big outdoor garden.

I have had a breakfast meal in there once before and it was very good. Eat there on a Sunday lunch time and it was awful. There was an abundance of flies. The Sunday lunch was absolutely rubbish, roast potatoes were not roasted they were fried and tiny. The beef I had was tough and almost uneatable. The veg was boiled almost to an inch of it's life and the gravy was sloshed on the plate. The Yorkshire Pudding was the only thing relatively decent. I was put off by the constant flies landing on my dinner to be honest. I reported it to the guy who looked like he was perhaps the Manager, a bald fellow with a beard, he didn't even come and see what I was saying and offer at least an apology. The toilets including the baby changing area were disgusting, excrement evident everywhere. I changed the baby on the seat by the table. I will not be eating here again. I perhaps could have understood it if the food was cheap but it was about average for the normal pub Sunday lunch. In reality for the quality it should have cost a fiver, not nearly three times that amount. Think long and hard before you spend your money for food in this pub, you will no doubt leave disappointed.

Aaron smashed it, Got us seated, took our order. Had a good chat and had food and drinks to the table in no time. What an amazing experience. Considering we just wanted to pop in for a coffee. We ended up having a full English each. Well worth it. Tasted great and portion size was spot on. Cheers guys !

The Dog & Pheasant in Colchester, has a warm atmosphere. The food was prompt, hot and tasty. Aaron the Manager welcoming and cheery, finding us a table at a busy time, going above and beyond. The kid’s area outside is great and keeps them entertained. Thank you :)

Pub was very busy & staff were run ragged, slight delay in drinks arriving to our table, they were doing the best they could. The food was nice & steak cooked exactly as asked for, always appreciated. Menu has changed since my last visit to a hungry horse, but still enough to choose from. Usually, great food at a reasonable price.

Right, I'll tell you what, we're sitting in the beer garden, in the sun, and this wonderful specimen of a guy, with the most glorious of beards served us, with a song and everything! Ten out of ten! I'll be back for sure.

Turned up at allocated time for a reserved booking. Someone had taken our table so were seated elsewhere. Proceeded to the bar to order food only to be ignored by the staff, didnt get to order food as bar staff kept serving everyone else. Worst visit yet, they need to have a better system in place to order at the bar. Ended up leaving without ordering food, it will be a good while before we consider going back.

The food here was reallly good on my first visit. Some great range of parking spots. Very clean, staff friendly although might need more staff due to popularity. Only realised on leaving there is a cash machine acros the road if needed to tip, i only had very loose change. Will deffo go back

Visited here for my mother’s birthday for lunch, I live in Kent but my mother lives 5 mins up the road and she enjoys coming here when I visit. We visited Friday and everyone was friendly and polite especially the bearded gentleman serving the food (apologies I didn’t get his name) I presumed he was the manager if he wasn’t then he definitely deserves a promotion or a pay rise, watched him greet customers with a smile and interacted with a newly sat table with children that were crying to help settle them and smile.. would also like to add the food was tasty the love the refurb.
