Dishoom in Manchester

The food was delicious, but the portions were quite small for the price. I found it to be a bit overpriced for what you get. That said, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was attentive and friendly. Overall, a good experience, but better value for money would make it even better

Honestly unbelievable food, I have absolutely nothing bad today about the food I was served at this fine establishment. The lamb chops; succulent and flavoursome and all the homemade dips and chutneys were to die for along with everything else we ate. My one singular criticism is that the wines were very expensive for the quality, they were far from enjoyable, however this would not stop me from returning the staff, ambience and food were 10/10.

Amazing atmosphere, food and service. You can tell how much effort goes into every detail of the meal. We also loved that they have refill options on the chai and porridge. Would love to visit for dinner soon!

Every time we go its outstanding. We especially love the breakfasts, superb coffee, freshly squeezed juice. Great vegan choices too, while vegan menu. I can especially recommend the vegan sausage naan, it’s really really good. On the evening menu, the vegan vada pav and the chole are exceptional. We’ve been to many different locations, they all offer the same foods, same great service and they are always in kooky quirky buildings with great atmosphere

I travelled over 200 miles to have the Chef's Manchester Special, Nalli Nihari Biriyani: "Nihari - a famously hearty and robust dish - is synonymous with celebration. Made into a biryani, it is doubly so. Tender shank of lamb is layered with rice and caramelised onions then sealed beneath a pastry blanket. Enriched further with kaleji (chicken liver) raita and nihari gravy" It was TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!!

Rafaella served me very well and attentively, I felt very cared for during my visit. Having travelled over 200 miles to have the Chef's special Nalli Nihari Biryani after 6 years, I am happy to say that it still remains the best Biryani I have ever had and hands down the best dish at any Dishoom restaurant in the world.

The place is lovely and the chai is amazing! Loved the garlic naan and paneer as well. Would visit again

Staff efficient and friendly. Great ambience, lighting too dim, didn't realise how big the restaurant was, hence my down star on mass-produced food. Presented well, but nothing special. You'll laugh at the poppadoms in photo. Service charge on the bill. Accessable toliet up a few steps!

First time we've had breakfast at Dishoom - it was fantastic! The vegan food was amazing. Zoe, our server, was brilliant - very attentive and explained the menu really well when we were seated.

Bit of a joke, called to book a table to be told we didn’t need to, walk-in availability was fine. Arrived at the door to be told there was a wait time of 1hr 15mins! Don’t waste your time!

Update 21 March 2024. Amazing Indian breakfast. Front of house team and table service was top class. Brilliant 2022. Fantastic food and service. I dont think there wasnt a dish we didnt enjoy. The array of craft beers and lagers is very refreshing.

I was disappointed with the food. The location is beautiful and the staff were amazing, but the food just left me a bit cold. The black Dahl wasn't particularly nice, it just wasn't as nice as ,say, Aakbars. I also realise that it's not that kind of place. Great if you like Insta pics, not so much if you're going to eat.

What an amazing place. The food was incredible. If I'm ever in the UK again, I will definitely be eating here again.

Can't comment on the food as we couldn't get in. They shouldn't claim they are a café and you can just turn up, when if you do, you are told you have an hour and a half wait. Why not just say booking recommended

Dishoom Manchester is set in a gorgeous building which is an experience from the moment you enter. The interior is outstanding, with beautiful style and cosy lighting throughout. We visited for breakfast and luckily were able to walk right in! I went for the Vegan Bombay breakfast which was delicious. The scrambled tofu was spicy and the perfect texture. The vegan sausages are different than any I have tried on the market with a beautiful rich umami flavour. This dish is a perfect combination between it's Indian heritage and an English fry. We also tried the Vegan sausage Naan Roll which was super tasty and satisfying. With this we had a side of the Masala beans which are an essential staple for the Dishoom breakfast, spicy and flavourful. Overall the breakfast here is absolutely elite and vegan options are great. It goes without saying that Dishoom in any location is worth a visit but I was particularly impressed with the food and ambience here. Hope I can be back soon 😊

THE VEGAN KHEER IS ACTUALLY TO DIE FOR

Excellent food and ambience. Staff very good. We didn't have reservations so had to wait outside for a bit before we were invited to wait at the bar. It was around £70 for two with an appetiser, two mains, naan, and a big beer. But we'll worth it given the quality of food, atmosphere and service.

Eaten here several times and it is always absolutely unbelievable!

My first visit to Dishoom was a great experience! I didn’t have a reservation, so I had to wait for nearly an hour, but the staff was kind enough to serve chai to those in the queue, which was a lovely touch. I tried the chole poori, kulfi, pav bhaji, and dal. The pav bhaji and dal stood out as the best—absolutely brilliant!

We had an amazing time! it was my first time at Dishoom and Manzil was amazing. He was really friendly and great with explaining the menu to us and giving us amazing recommendations. He really made it a wonderful evening to remember and we’ll be coming back! Thank you ❤️

Simple but authentic Menu. Spices are in perfect harmony while still retaining originality. Service was polite, efficient and helpful. The historic element ♥️ is priceless. Highly recommend it, make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

Manchester Dishoom Breakfast. Very, very good.

Outstanding service and absolutely the best food we’ve had!! We asked our lovely server to choose our dishes which they did it perfectly - just the right amount of food and mixture of flavours. I had the white Tempranillo - perfect choice of wine with the spice. Unreal!

What a great place! Me and my wife had some nice breakfast (WRESTLER’S NAAN ROLL - fantastic stuff) and a cup of coffee and tea. The service is great (ask for waiter Rafał!), the place is stunning and the whole vibe is just awesome. Totally recommend the place :)

The okra fries were a revelation, wonderfully crispy and spiced just right, making them impossible to stop eating. The mutton pepper fry was a standout, rich and bold with a slow-building heat that left us craving more. And the house daal? Pure comfort in a bowl—creamy, soul-warming, and utterly delicious. A fantastic experience, the place, a former pharmacy, is a magnificent setting for this great Indian restaurant which will delight you. Take your time, because the map is imposing. But the waiters are there to advise you. The cuisine is succulent and the service impeccable.

Once seated, the atmosphere was vibrant yet welcoming, with stunning interiors that transport you straight to a 1940s Bombay café. The highlight of the meal was, without a doubt, the Chicken Ruby. The rich, flavorful curry paired perfectly with the warm naan and rice. Every bite was a delight! The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who made us feel valued throughout. Dishoom is a must-visit for anyone in Manchester, whether you’re a local or just passing through. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

Amazing Experience at Dishoom! I recently visited Dishoom with two friends, and we had a fantastic dining experience. We ordered the sheek kebab and chicken tikka masala, and both dishes were absolutely delicious—flavorful, well-cooked, and beautifully presented. The quality and taste truly stood out. What made our visit even more enjoyable was the outstanding service. Our host/waiter, Alejandro from Spain, was extremely friendly, prompt, and attentive throughout. His warm and pleasant attitude added to the overall experience, making us feel welcomed and well taken care of. Dishoom never disappoints with its excellent food and exceptional hospitality. Highly recommended!

Absolutely loved the iftar menu, however we were not keen on the jackfruit biriyani. Despite that we’re giving a 5 star rating as we loved the rest of the experience and food. It would have been 100% perfect if the jackfruit biriyani was replaced by lamb biriyani.

Our main waiter was really lovely but a random waitress was rude. Said they didn’t have one item when they did and then the food has deteriorated significantly since it opened. It’s not tasty anymore and it’s not got much flavour small portions of fish in the curry. very disappointing waste of money would not recommend.

Simply the best food i've ever had...... great food, service, atmosphere.

Crazy nice curry, one of, if not the best I've ever had. Will certainly come again if I'm in the area. A bit slow in terms of service but not that bad. The strange Poppadum's are not good but that didnt let down the meal as a whole. I would have preferred normal cheap poppadum's than £4.50 for the strange ones here.

Service was not at all to the level expected for such a highly regarded restaurant chain. Having said that, the whole Dishoom vibe and the meal itself, particularly the chicken options, were 10/10. It's like taking a step back in time to an old Irani café in Bombay in the newly-independent India. I highly recommend the chicken tikka, murgh malai (creamy chicken thigh pieces), and the chicken ruby with a rumali roti; 10/10 chicken!

(Feb 2025) Dishoom 🍛 is a must - best curry you will ever have! We ate like kings! Two adults and one child. We booked two weeks in advance; when we left the premises, people were queueing in the rain for up to 1 hour just to get in (Friday 5PM).

Tremendous place and cuisine. The Dinner Feast experience was superb. I made a mistake and ate too much! Well, how can it be a mistake if meals were super tasty?!!!!

Biryani and dishoom chicken tikka and murgh malai is an absolute favourite! Not so much of a fan of the gunpowder potatoes.

Mutton curry was great. Lots of flavour and tender. Monk fish was off. Super fishy. I originally thought the curry had a tonne of fish sauce in it, but it was the monk itself. Staff were amazing, really attentive. Explained the menu and how to pay. We went on a Thursday evening so it was busy with people coming from work.
