Dishoom in Manchester

The food was exquisite, very tasty and very different. Our server (Tay) was very attentive and extremely helpful with my wife’s intolerances improving an already very enjoyable experience.

They've recently changed their menu options because what I had last time isn't there in the menu this time. Very pricey for quality and quantity.

Had a lovely experience here at Dishoom for my daughters bday. We had a very warm welcome by our host/ waitress. Food is very tasty and enjoyable. Portion sizes on small side for mains so be prepared to get accompanying sides. They brought a candle lit dessert out for my daughter without even being asked which was as nice touch. Reasonably priced. Overall we were very happy with our experience.

Having been to Dishoom London and Edinburgh before, expectations were high, but boy did they live up to it! The signature okra fry was delish, lamb shank biriyani was as appealing to the eyes as to the tongue, the street-chai was exactly what defines road side tea in Bombay, and desserts equally tasty. We will be back.

We visited for complimentary breakfast following a disappointing previous experience. I’m thrilled to say that this visit totally met our expectations and my boyfriend now understands why I was raving about the place! Thank you so much and we definitely will be back

Went to meet up with friends, lovely interior and great welcome, service was good too. Varied menu with some dishes I had not seen before. My only comment on the slightly negative side is the price, it's certainly more of a treat than a regular meal out in my opinion.

We have enjoyed our food and as usual Dishoom dishes do not disappoint, however this is second time that I have similar experience at Dishoom. We have decided to take of service charge as they put it on the bill and it is 12.5% which is quite a lot if you take in to the account that their prices are already high. I was shocked when I seen that soft drinks are £6. Once we asked our waiter to take service charge of his attitude change and he seemed to be annoyed but it was nothing personal, however we do not live in America so service charge should not be applied automatically to the bill. Another downside and reason for lowering rating is that they stopped taking American Express. The atmosphere is not as good as Manchester branch and it was quite loud and crowded.

Nice set up - dim/mode lighting brings a lovely ambience. Front staff were friendly and welcoming. Floor staff were attentive and on point. Food was delicious as always. Will be back .

Very enjoyable - attentive service without being annoying

We’ve been long-time fans of Dishoom and have visited the King’s Cross location in London since it first opened always a fantastic experience with delicious food and great service. So, during our trip to Manchester, we were excited to try the Dishoom there. We started with poppadoms, which were very tasty, and the Chicken Ruby paired with a cheesy naan, both were absolutely amazing, just as expected from Dishoom. However, we were a bit disappointed with a few dishes this time. The Gunpowder Potatoes were soggy, not properly grilled, and served cold. Similarly, the Mattar Paneer was also cold and lacked the rich, signature flavor we’ve always loved at Dishoom. We know Dishoom holds a high standard, and maybe it was just an off day, but we hope our next visit brings back the usual excellence we associate with the name.

Food was as good as always but the service was just above and beyond this time. Micha was our server and she was fantastic a credit to Dishoom.

Perfect place and best Indian food here. Love the special meal for Manchester. Have been to the London one, as good as that Dishoom.

Great ambience, laid back, stylish, and true to its Bombay café roots. The food full of flavour. Grilled meats were tender and spiced right & cooked through perfectly. We had kulfi. Reminded me of the original, traditional flavour I grew up with. Clean finish to a great meal. Service was smooth, and staff were helpful without being overbearing. Lovely place. Would happily come back.

Visited Dishoom for lunch with friends. My overall impression of the place is that the location was good but we were shoehorned into a corner of the restaurant. My wife’s meal had to be sent back because she ordered a vegetarian option but the dish had meat in it. The food was good but nothing special. Finally I was somewhat taken aback by the bill. I feel it was VERY expensive for what we had.

It's just ok. Wine is super expensive for the cheapest bottle. The large beer was 9 pounds. Food was average. Poppadom/crisp things were just like I buy in a bag from the supermarket. Nan bread was small and cut into pieces. Won't go again.

The food was fabulous, as always, but our experience was greatly diminished by our server, ruining a special lunch occasion with my parents. I wanted to bring them to my favourite restaurant in Manchester - and although every dish was incredible, and we loved the decor and vibe, at this price point I would likely recommend just ordering takeout next time. The front of house staff were great and friendly - we were quickly seated. The first things we ordered from our server after a brief spiel about the menu: tap water, a round of drinks and a starter dish. After she tapped our orders and mains, we basically never saw her again until she brought us the cheque over our dirty plates. She never brought us water (even though I asked her politely again), did not check on us once after we received the food (whatever happened to a simple - “how is everything going?”), and we never received our starter although the chutneys were brought out - but she still tried to charge us for it! I also want to note the cafe was not even half full and there were plenty of staff on duty. I could see her chatting away with the other staff and gazing off while I was literally waving down the other servers passing by to request water! If you serve spicy food, shouldn’t you make sure your customers have drinks throughout their meal? She was, however, very attentive to a group next to us, cleaning their plates between courses and after their meal (they even got the opportunity to order a second round of drinks!). You can see in the photo their table on the left vs ours well after the end of our meal. When I asked her to remove the starter from our cheque and mentioned I was a bit disappointed to literally have to beg for water, she did not seem bothered at all to apologize for forgetting so many things and laughed. I worked as a server for 8 years and have never, EVER, refused to pay a service charge until that moment. I’m also appalled that with an optional 12.5% service charge on the line (that I assume also goes to the kitchen, front of house), it wouldn’t be a priority to ensure guests have good…service. Based on the story of Dishoom and upscale sociable cafe setting, I would think checking in on your guest satisfaction isn’t an outrageous expectation. I am unsure if I would return based on this experience. As much as I love the one of a kind black dahl and “Manchester” lamb briyani, not worth it unless you come prepared to be dehydrated and ignored.

Loved the food and the range of food options I had. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will deffo recommend and will be coming back.

An excellent day was had by all four of us, non of whom had visited before. Beautiful, well laid out design in a superb setting. Great drinks, at a price suited to the surroundings, but not overly expensive. The food has to be the best Indian food I've ever tasted (and I've tasted a lot). We will definitely be back. Keem Pau made me feel like being at Irani Cafe in Mumbai.. Even Vada pav was like having feel of having it back home in Mumbai. Highly Recommended!! Go for it .. Worth your time and money.. Me and my partner came here for a joint birthday and anniversary treat. We were both blown away. The quality of the food and the service were impeccable. Not only was the food delicious but also came out quickly. Our server Rudi was also incredible. Very friendly and so informative. He ran through the menu with us and even gave us quality recommendations. Furthermore he also gave us a complimentary desert since it was my partners birthday. Such a brilliant experience, truly one of the best experiences I've had. Will come back again!

Beautiful food, atmosphere and service

The young lady who was training was an absolute delight. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and her recommendations were spot on. The food was absolutely amazing. I will definitely return when next in Manchester.

I have seen many Indian restaurants around the world. But this one is the most beautiful, largest and most atmospheric! Wonderful design, pleasant aromas... My table was served by a perfect waitress. It is a pity that in the morning you can only order breakfasts, and not the usual favorite Indian dishes. It is like at McD: you come for a Big Mac, and in the morning it is not there. The same here: in the morning they do not prepare either Paneer Tikka, or Butter Chicken, or Garlic Naan... The waitress hospitably invited me for lunch :)

Dishoom Manchester is a perfect spot. Celebrated a friend’s birthday there and the whole vibe was just perfect—great food, warm atmosphere, and amazing service. The place gives off real India vibes, from the décor to the funny little signs on the walls—feels like stepping into a café in Bombay. I’ve been a few times now, and every time I take someone new, they end up loving it. Honestly, I’ve enjoyed it just as much each time. Always a solid choice.

Brilliant service and one of the best breakfasts we’ve had!

The service was excellent, the food lived up to the 4.8 star average rating, well deserved, i had the chicken ruby and although it was a tiny bit sweet for my liking, it was full of flavour, the Naan was baked fresh and was really tasty!

Everything was top notch, staff (everyone not just the server), everyone that we passed at the end of the night said 'good night' and those are the little things that make the difference... That is on top of the AMAZING food... Everyone was blown away. THANKS.

Absolutely superb! I came to Dishoom to celebrate my auntie's Bday, and the whole experience was supreme. The food was just delicious, and the venue is gorgeous, but what made the difference was the outstanding service. They were helpful and attentive without being intrusive. I had a surprise cake for my auntie, and they were amazing at helping me sorting it all out, which I'm so grateful for. Me and my family were delighted, 100% recommend it 👌

Outstanding as always food, atmosphere and service

Food was awesome. Service was impeccable. Would have been nicer to have some other whiskies for after dinner but I can't complain about the experience. It's not cheap but not unreasonable. I was surprised for a restaurant of this quality that they don't accept Amex! It explains why I couldn't find it on Amex restaurant list when I looked at other venues.

It's my favourite halal restaurant to go with family and friends I would highly recommend having the nilli nahari biryani as a main dish with the chicken ruby And the best salad was house chaat

Unnecessarily overpriced ; the food quality is acceptable but does not justify the cost. Menu prices are absent. Despite its appearance, this establishment is not an authentic Indian restaurant and should be avoided by those seeking Indian cuisine. The ambiance also fails to warrant the high prices.

Wrestlers naan best thing I’ve ever had. Even had a bottle of kingfisher larger with was perfect. Could not recommend this place more the best food I have ever had.

Amazing food! The flavors were spot on and everything we tried was delicious. The only downside was the lighting—it was a bit too dark, which made it hard to get good photos of the food. Also, I wish they had a wider variety of curries on the menu. A few small tweaks and this place would be perfect!

Lovely experience and great service

Superb Indian restaurant, the welcome, the setting, the service and above all the cuisine is there. We enjoyed it from start to finish, as a lover of Indian cuisine it's one of the best I've eaten, go there you won't be disappointed.

Amazing vibrant food with variations of spicy, creamy or herby dishes to suit any palate or create a dining experience that spans all the tastebuds. My partner and I decided to finally try here after hearing about it for years, ordering a large portion of what is an extensive vegan menu. A mistake only because we underestimated the generous portion sizes of their "small" plates. Good value for money, lots of choice and great quality. All delivered by a friendly and attentive staff that made our evening brilliant. Will be back
