Delhi Lounge - home of CHARSI KARAHI in Middlesbrough

Had such a wonderful meal here this evening. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was gorgeous, I had Chicken Karahi which was recommended by our waiter. It was delicious, such a rich and deep flavour. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends.

This place is a little gem, I eat out alot as I work all over the country, the food is second to none and the portion sizes are generous, would definitely recommend.

Absolutely lovely food … tried for the first time tonight ( takeaway ) … full of flavour and I must say the keema naan was full of meat not just one side of the naan like some places .. We will be trying the restaurant ( sitting in ) next time for sure …..

Such a warm and welcoming restaurant with fantastic staff and food. The speciality dish Charsi Karahi was amazing. Very very good food and amazing value for money. The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Made my partners birthday really special. Thank you.

Currys were OK, the mix grill was tough and over cooked, so I tried to cancell my extra mix grill but he said it was already getting done... Service atmosphere is ok but the foods nowt to shout about...

Ordered at 16:42 and received our food two hours later at 18:45. We have ordered from here before and our order has always taken two hours to be received so we know what to expect and this wasn’t the issue. The issue was that when the food arrived it was stone cold. My partner phoned the restaurant to complain about this and we were greeted by a not very friendly manager who was instantly very defensive and demanding that we ordered at 6pm….we have the just eat receipt which proves we ordered at 4:42. I also told him about our past experiences with having to wait two hours and again he got very defensive saying ‘well why do you keep coming back then’ i replied because we like the food but this is cold which again, was the issue. He even blamed it on the area we live in….which is 12 minutes car journey away hence the constant two hour wait (also why have the restaurant available in our area if that’s the reason for it being cold?). I very rarely give bad reviews or feedback to businesses but the way the manager handled the situation is the reason for this post - I have never ever experienced a manager react like that to complaints before even having worked in the hospitality industry before myself. Very poor customer service. I personally don’t think they should be treating and speaking to paying customers like that for genuine issues!! (The food we paid for was cold!) we definitely won’t be returning. It’s a shame as if our criticism had been listened to and respected as what is expected from a restaurant manager things would have went very differently. No professionalism and very defensive and rude for no reason and for trivial - common complaints. We have never complained before about the wait times and such which I believe shows our good and genuine intentions. But this time the food was stone cold. The food is always nice but just don’t complain about anything or they will definitely make sure you never want to go back!! A simple ‘sorry to hear that’ would have been enough. We definitely won’t be back again after how we were treated. Further response — I have attached the email and time as confirmation that we did not order at 5:55. I am also aware that sometimes these things happen through accident or no one’s fault. With this aside, I appreciate the apology and wish you and your staff a happy new year.

Excellent service and wonderful food.

Always delicious food and lovely staff. Slight delay with order today which was understandable and compensated with glass of bubbly. Only issue was that we ordered veg biryani and once home and plated up realised we had been given chicken. Thankfully us once vegetarians have converted 😊

Massive order didn’t turn up!!! do not use no contact and when we phoned they kept hanging up waited 4 hours so far what a let down

First time here and so impressed by food, service and wonderful decor and layout of restaurant. We had a few starters and one main course between two. Starters were massive and incredibly tasty. Tried sizzling tandoori paneer and tandoori salmon, king prawn puri and chicken 65. Had the house special for main "Lamb Charsi Karahi" with a special rice with peas, nuts, sultanas and egg. All of it was delicious. The best Indian food we have had in Teesside by a mile.. Staff were attentive and made great recommendations. 10/10.

I always get good food from The Delhi Lounge. I don't even bother ordering Indian cuisine from anywhere else because I'm guarenteedthe best already.

Been meaning to dine here for ages after hearing about Delhi Lounge. So pleased we finally made it. Food was stunning. Intensely flavoured, beautifully cooked and well presented. Won’t be going anywhere else in the area from now on. Only criticism would be the place was on the chilly side.

Just had a meal tonight inside the restaurant with my work colleagues. I ordered a lamb tikka korai but when it arrived the waiter said lamb korai. I corrected him saying I ordered lamb tikka korai, is that what you made? He replied yes it's lamb tikka korai. It actually was plain lamb korai. Trust me I know the difference between the two as I've been in the industry for decades. Anyways, lamb is lamb so I let that pass. However, as I started eating my main dish I noticed I received only 4 pieces of lamb. I pointed it out to one of the waiters and he said they didn't give 4 pieces.. they gave more. I replied why would I want to lie? I got no reason. He just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. A little later another waiter asked what was the problem. I explained again I received just 4 pieces of lamb in the korai dish. He replied that's not possible, it's measured out from the kitchen, you got 6 or 7 pieces and they wouldn't do that to a large table like mine. I again reiterated I counted 4 and you telling me I can't count? He replied he doesnt know and again, just like the first waiter he walked away. No apologies or anything. Basically accusing me of lieing. That was so disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the food tasted ok but quantity and value, then adding service of the waiters made this an awful experience. Funnily, I had recommended the restaurant to my work colleagues in the first place. I would not recommend this place ever again.

Recommended the new dish it was only avarage waiter had a bit of a boo boo knocked two of the dishes on the floor so two of us had to wait for the dish to be prepared again then the nans was cold and rice but they exchanged them for hot have been to better restaurants on the area

Food was amazing and definitely a must try in Middlesbrough! We've ordered onion bhaji and massala fish for starters which was really perfect in all the three sauces they'd serve you. For the mains, Lamb Shank (my favorite) as the meat falls of it's bone, creamy and mild spicy which easily balanced out by having a peshwari naan on the side due to it's coconutty sweetness. This naan goes with everything by the way! Asian Buttered Chicken comes with a spicy coconut sauce so pls don't expect that it'll be the usual buttered chicken. I forgot the name of the other main we've ordered but all in all, everything was perfect just like the 1st time which made us come back last night for my husband's birthday! Thank you for the great meal. Definitely coming back again and again!

Best indian I have had in a long time

Came for a dine in. Ordered tandoori chicken, chicken biryani, bhindi, and vegetable shashlik. Tandoori chicken was perfect. Biryani chicken was just what I like. Had proper biryani with fried onions on the top. My wife was vegetarian today so she had Bhindi and she really liked it. Although she doesn’t like bhindi at all restaurants. Naans were good too. I liked them. The best thing? The food quantity is worth the price.

I have 3 different curries and all the sides by now. I have ordered from Uber eats a lot and eaten in restaurant now. This is one of my favourite places to eat around Teeside. The food in particular is really tasty for the price

We think this Indian restaurant is excellent. Great portions and excellent quality. Kebi the waiter made sure we were well looked after. The only downside was it was a tad cold due to the weather outside but overall we'll be definitely back a few times

What a find. Visiting Middlesbrough and decided on an Indian meal for dinner. The house special was suggested by Kiby. First class. One of the best.

Ordered the food online and rang the shop for a few inquiries. Very good customer service and also great communication skills. Food was amazing and good potions too. I absolutely LOVE Delhi Lounge, been a couple of times and each time it is exceptional. Compliments to the chef on the food- wow! The service is always top notch and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Will recommend this place to anyone if they’re wanting a top tier Indian! We will be back (again!)

Why must some things in life be so difficult! Tonight I ordered from Delhi lounge at 5:45 with delivery due 6:25-6:45. At 6:25 my order was off out on its journey to me. At 6:55 I called the shop and asked how long it would be as it seemed to be taking a while and the woman told me it would be with me within 5 minutes. I was happy with this, just wanted to know my food wouldn't be cold. 7:10 I called again to a very rude man who told me 15 minutes. I said the food will be cold and he told me the bag keeps it warm for an hour! Yes so exactly an hour after it left the shop the food is supposed to be lovely and warm still? Unlikely. He was in fact so rude I told him to cancel my order and he laughed and told me to do it via Uber eats. You cannot cancel a live order on Uber eats. 7:30 I call back and speak to a manager who can't cancel the order as he isn't the manager who has the authority to do this but "he would sort it" 7:45 I get a phone call saying my order is outside! I told him to go away😂 worst thing than no food is freezing cold food as then I cannot get my money back. Contacted Uber eats and the bank and this is all cancelled and I have my money in my bank and safe. However I just want to let everyone know to avoid Delhi lounge! You won't receive your food in a sensible time. The length of time it's in some guys car will absolutely guarantee it's so cold you're getting a korma ice cream and the customer service is so horrific that I wouldn't even consider going in to collect an order in future!

Gorgeous place to visit service was great, always checking to see if we were happy and got a drinks glass was never empty, happy with the service and happy with the food new menu definitely come back.

Do not order from here. Delivery time came and went. Could not contact them as stating it was closed. N9 food came .

Had to ring the restaurant to chase up our order and when the food arrived we had to microwave it as it was cold. Not good and not as previous orders.

We used to love Delhi Lounge but the last three times we have ordered the delivery has been over an hour late, food cold on arrival and manager is not honest or even apologetic. Third time this happened we ordered three hours in advance to be safe.

Every time we come up north from Bradford we always come to this restaurant and each time we have had a lovely meal. We have the £20.00 menu. We never finish the meal as they are so big portion of the starter course and also after poppadoms too. Doggy bag is needed and meal for the next day. Peshawari nan is to die for. It's honestly the best I have had. There is a lovely young girl who serves and she is so polite and sweet. Everyone who we have come in contact with have been so helpful and polite. Thank you until next time xx

The portion of fish is insufficient, and the masala doesn't taste good. It has too much oil and pepper, overpowering the taste of the fish.

It was absolutely lovely food as usual. The only issue was the cold food, but after reheated it was lovely.

We usually enjoy Delhi and it’s usually on time . Over an hour late and food wasn’t up to usual quality it’s not a cheap takeaway so it’s a treat usually , don’t know if they were extremely busy or there was issues in kitchen but food wasn’t as good as usually is was cold and curry was watery .

This is the 2nd time am experiencing this issue..The food is too late and it's cold aswell and when I tried calling them the line is always engaged it took a long time to connect the call and after answering they are giving silly reasons.Gonna never do deliveries from them again....

lamb chops were lovely but the curry was extremely disappointing

I order from here often so not sure what’s gone wrong. Chicken was wet not moist, lamb and salmon over cooked. Onion bhaji’s have shrunk.
