We are visiting the area and travelled to Millom just to eat here yesterday only to find that they are closed on Tuesdays! I have submitted a request to Google to change the opening times to reflect this.

I personally Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, service was not welcoming, drinks were not drinkable and all served warm Chicken in the curry was tough but curry sauce and Naan bread was nice A lot of money for something no one in our party finished

Tasty food with big portions - had to take some home! Soft drinks were expensive considering they were out of a big bottle.

Don't go off bad reviews we have just visited curry spice while on holiday,table for 4 and we all had different curry's and we all said the same thing that our curry's where delicious. The service was first class. We would highly recommend.

We order a takeaway for pick up when got there was so rude asking were my boyfriend is from then going I can tell all because he asked about a curry on the menu saying we don’t do that and don’t sell drinks well then update your menu and to top it off the curry’s are crap

treat there staff (younger waiters) like crap, make there waiters do all cleaning or forms of work other than cooking. downstairs is minging got beds down there non sanitised food chefs don’t were shoes or socks and pick food of the floor .do not eat there

We went to curry spice in January. It's was very quiet inside. A guy at reception greeted us, took us to the corner table. We had chicken Tikka bhuna, Lamb Tikka Karahi, chicken kurma, 2 bombay potatoes, 2 pilau rice, and Naan, my little one wanted chicken nuggets with chips. Cleaning was alright. I would say customer service was good. Food was below the average. They have their own ideas about chicken nuggets. We have never seen such thing in our life lol. Prices were not too bad. Parking spaces available around the street or in front of it.

Called in for a curry whilst visiting family in Millom I shared Tandoori Mixed Grill with a Korma sauce - Pilau rice and Garlic Naan Bread Defintely would call again

Food was absolutely gorgeous, so much and so tasty. Service was excellent as well. Couldn't fault a thing. Can't wait to go back.

The Curry Spice. 1 Market Square, Millom, Cumbria LA18 YHZ Date of visit 28th September 2023. Tel: 01229 779 401. Travel towards Workington from Ulverston and you will come across this little backwater, Millom. A once bustling town with plenty going on to occupy the residents therein. But unfortunately, Millom is another victim of a town in end-of-life care. A stroll round the town and you would be hard pressed to meet a dozen people. Eventually you will find tucked into a corner of Market Square sits The Curry Spice, a small, neat and comfortable, forty or so seater, and the only Indian Restaurant for quite a few miles. It was early doors and quiet, but it was obvious that they do quite well with Take-aways, and the place did begin to fill up as the evening went by. A Mr Ali runs front of house who told me that in its day, Millom had a thriving night life with night clubs and pubs, in fact the very spot that is home to Curry Spice was once a night club! So, down to the cuisine at this establishment. Ordered my usual bench-mark stuff of Poppadom’s with Pickle tray, which were fresh and good quantity. A Sheesh kebab, which to be fair were simply warmed up but bursting with flavour. Next, I sampled a Chicken Madras which came with a good helping of Chunky soft and succulent chicken. And a sauce the likes, for a madras , I have not come across before, there was a sweetness to this which really lifted it. Accompanied by a fragrant fluffy Pilau rice and a Tandoori Roti, I have to say all of which were first class. And Mr Ali, a nice chap ,friendly and informative. All for the very decent price of £29.45. Parking no problem right outside the door. I’m going to give it 9/10 well worth a visit.

THE FOOD WAS DISGUSTING IF THERE WAS ANOTHER WORD FOR DISGUSTING I WOULD USE IT.. I WOULD NOT EVEN RECOMMEND IT TO AN ENEMY….I AM DIABETIC AND I WAS TRAUMATISED AS THEY SCREAMED AT ME AND THREW THE MENU… VERY RUDE MADE ME EXTREMELY ANXIOUS AND DISTURBED

Very bad service, the food was horrible so bad that I don't even have the word to describe it, would never recommend this to anyone.

Frankly, I would not even rate this one star because this place was that bad. The customer service was so trash and the people taking the order were so rude. When I ordered a few naan they refused to take my order, moreover, when I wanted to know this size of a naan they said they couldn’t and told me to get out. I was very angry because i was visiting from a faraway place for a holiday and didn’t expect this of a so called fully licensed takeaway and they also had the audacity to ask for a tip too. Please save your energy and don’t go there!!! I wouldn’t recommend this at all whatsoever. Very disappointed and a total waste of time. I have been to other Indian takeaways and this is the worst one I have ever been.

A very friendly welcome, good service and the food was exquisite, just the best I've had in many years. Also not expensive. I had it as a takeaway but the restaurant does look good and cosy to sit in, and still not expensive. 13/09/2023.

Have been coming to this restaurant for many years but never again. Had Lamb Tikka Jalfrezi. The meat was so tough I could not cut let alone eat it. This is the only Indian in town so there is no competition. In a place where there was alternatives they'd be out of business in a month. Avoid at all costs

This had the best onion bhaji I’ve ever had! The whole meal for 4 was outstanding and the service was excellent 5 star will visit again next time we holiday thank you curry spice 😊

As advised on numerous site that they do delivery, called to find out where I can find a menu online. Spoke to very abruptly and hung up on with a curt bye. If that’s how you treat your local customers won’t be going anywhere near again

There wasn't much choice on the Thursday night in Millom as far as eating in was concerned. But I'm glad I chose Curry Spice in the end. It serves Bangla cuisine which I wasn't familiar with but there were lots of standard Indiamn dishes anyway. I had a Sheesh Kebab wich was really tasty, just the right side of spicy and then I had a Merchant Cicken with a Peshwari Naan for my main course. This didn't disappoint! It contained finely diced fingers of chicken with tomatoes, peppers and onions, cooked in a lovely sauce which was just on the mild side of a Madras. I asked what was in the sauce but was told it was the chef's special sauce, so no secrets given away. All in all, a very tasty dish and great service at this restaurant.

We took our eldest grandson for his 18th birthday, the meal was excellent, everything was cooked to perfection. The lovely gentleman who served us was lovely, very attentive and pleasant. We had a lovely time and will definitely be returning.

Great meal at this restaurant. Food was excellent and quick service. Lovely butter chicken, peshwari naan and pilau rice, chicken tikka masala onion bhaji. Online reviews we read we're mixed, but we had a lovely meal and found the host very pleasant. It was v quiet as the football was on, so not busy. I would recommend this restaurant

The worst chicken tikka I have ever tasted a tin full of orange liq and about 6 chunks of flavourless chicken

The owner can be a bit blunt, but he's actually OK and the service is reasonably quick and price is reasonable. There is a discount for cash and for collection if you spend enough. Had better Indial meals (and paid more for them) but also had a lot worse! Closed Tuesdays like most things in Millom.

Sensational food.....Poppadums were fresh and crispy deluxe. Freshly cooked and nice and hot. I would highly recommend the Dhansak as it was fairly spicy and had a good kick to it, whilst being incredibly flavoursome.

Just had a lovely pleasant evening meal. Clean, light and spacious restaurant. Great service, excellent value and very tasty food. Would definitely recommend and visit again if in the area.

This has to be the worst meal I've ever had. They couldn't make a sauce without onions?? You have no choice but to have onions in your curry. The curry was vile. I had 2 mouthfuls and binned it. Avoid this place at all costs.

Staying in the area so thought we would try this place out. It looks like a takeaway from outside but the restaurant area was ok. Very bright and spacious. The food we ordered was brought out nice and hot and placed on warmers. It was very tasty and we left very full and pleased we went.

Lamb Rogan Josh - tasted like a tin of sweet Tomatoes with Onion mixed in. Can't remember what I had a few years ago but I'm sure it tastedand looked exactly the same.

We ate here before we went to the lovely beggars theatre next door. We booked a table in advance. A table fo 4. It was obvious from arrival they they do a lot of take out meals. The phone was ringing non stop and orders going into the kitchen. The restaurant itself was quiet in terms of people sitting down to eat. We had our drinks order taken. Waited about 20 minutes, asked another member of staff. Seemingly nobody knew what we had ordered. We then found out that the beer ordered wasn’t available. Waited an age again, eventually got them with a apology from the manager. Then we had an issue actually trying to get a member of staff to take our order. The staff were back and forth past our table taking take out orders to the kitchen and back with bags of take out food. We were completely ignored. We had to call out at staff passing on more than one occasion. Eventually somebody gave in and came over. We forgot to ask for popadoms and dips, so we asked a member of staff if we could add it on and they said yes….we are still waiting for those!! (To be fair they didn’t charge us so that was ok). The food was nice enough. Plenty of it and it was tasty. The restaurant itself was pretty grotty. Disgusting food splatters up the wall next to our table. No atmosphere in there at all either. Overall it was a pretty poor experience. Their priority is take out customers, sit in diners are clearly an inconvenience. We felt sorry for the young staff, who were overworked with takeout orders and had clearly had no training for how to wait on tables. Advice to future guests, for quick service for a sit down meal here, find a bench outside, take your own cutlery, phone in an order, collect and eat outside! It would be much quicker than sitting inside!!

If you expect any sort of polite customer service avoid this restaurant! The food was ok but really nothing to get excited about, which you can accept if you get good customer service! I’ve never come across someone so rude as I did last night, this wasn’t the staff, this was the owner of the restaurant. Such a shame as this restaurant is very local to where we work and would have absolutely gone back if we had been treated well. I will not be returning and I don’t imagine my friends will be either.

Fresh and tasty food. Staff were professional and attentive. Excellent value for money for such lovely food. One of only a handful local restaurants open on a Monday.

OK so it says open to 10pm now but they now close at 9pm Had a chicken and prawn dish abs there was 2 pieces of chicken and 1 prawn. Bulked out with potato. Although it did taiste great

Vindaloo looked and tasted liked Tomato Soup with Chili Powder in. Worst Vindaloo that I've eaten. Hardly and Meat in it either. My Wife was ill after she ate hers. They are just serving poor cheaply made food (not price) as there is no competition....

Full of flavour, good portion size, friendly staff. We got a table for 8 just after Christmas for my wife's birthday, I really enjoyed my meal and was made to feel most welcome, though we were the only table in the restaurant! I'd happily go again.

Great food. Not much atmosphere. Too bright. But i cannot fault the food or the service.

Curry Spice - not so nice! We took our takeaway home and much to our dismay, a meal was missing. We contacted the restaurant, but received no apology or suggestions to rectify the problem, frustratingly. In fact, we were blamed for the problem! Overall, the food was ok, but when we began to eat our food, we found that there were cold pockets in the rice, and the naan was chewy and soggy and the garlic on it was burnt. The customer service we received has convinced us to never return again.

I have my own restaurant and I know this trade inside out. The worst Indian meal and service ever. The old fella (maybe the boss) is utterly rude. Had a takeaway, 2 veg sides with 2 chapati and a king prawn biriani. Biriani was ok....

Meal for four. Two of us not real curry heads but were satisfied with the Kormas. The more adventurous curries however were too greasy and the sides were quite bland. No-one else ate here in the 90 mins we were present although a few takeaways were collected. Perhaps Millom doesn't need a restaurant - just a takeaway, but this would be an error as you are not able to purchase their excellent Bangla beer unless you eat in. As the only place to have a curry for a few miles it might be resting on it's laurels as I have had better meals here. Hope this is read and the food gets back to it's previous standard.

We had a lovely meal here last night. Not the first time we’ve been here and usually get a takeaway. Compared to other Indian restaurants the pickle tray is one of the best! Chicken tikka was a particular stand out dish, really tasty, but having said that everything we had was really nice. Good value and a nice restaurant. I don’t know why it isn’t busier for eating in. Give it a try, you won’t regret it.

Went here for a meal recently and the food was gorgeous although it'd be great if there was more of a choice for children. Would 100% recommend.

The first visit to the restaurant by all of us. As I live in the Midlands, I am spoilt with excellent curry house - especially the Balti Triangle.The service was friendly by the young girl, but the man (whom I assume is the owner) was quite surly.The food was very good and everyone enjoyed theirs.At the end, we left a good tip for the young girl, but one of the guys had to speak with the 'Owner' to explain that it was for her.

Food is average, and the waiting staff are polite and attentive yet their tips are kept by the owner - awful.

We were part of a large family group on a Sunday evening. The service was well organised and quick.Food was extremely tasty, one of those curry establishments where you can taste the separate spices rather than eat a mush.Rice was cooked perfectly. Own specials were particularly good.

This indian restaurant is excellent and I've been to many. The staff are quiet but friendly and attentive, the surroundings very pleasant and spacious seating area, and the food was amongst the best I have ever tasted. Mixed Kebab starter very well presented and delicious, and the Chicken Tikka Balti very rich and tasty. Highly recommended if staying in the area.

Come away for a family break, went to this place for a meal and the staff were very rude. The curry was a garlic chicken chilli masala instead of putting fresh garlic in there was just a blob of puréed garlic on the top of the curry just pure laziness if you ask me. The next day let's just say I couldn't get off the toilet I would definitely rate this as a zero out of 5 stay away people

We have been using this place for three years. It's a lovely restaurant, unfortunately often not very full and we don't know why as its great. The food is good and the restaurant is modern and comfortable. Staff are ready welcoming, and do is the owner. Great for take always too.

This always seems a quiet restaurant, never really full, hence the subdued atmosphere. Which is a surprise, as the food is of an excellant quality, although from a fairly standard Indian food menu, with a selection of the usual booze. The service is quite good, it didn't take long for the food to arrive, although the serving staff seemed new and therefore a little inexperienced. They do seem to have a lot of take-away business which complements the restaurant. Overall a good night out in nice surroundings, though a little quite. But sometimes that can be a good thing!

The food was good. The decor is a little dated but nothing outside the ordinary for Millom. The waitress however was brilliant, she was really friendly and made us so welcome. She couldn't do enough for us. I made a trip specially to the cash point a couple of streets away to get a tip out for her she was so good.

We were looking for somewhere to eat whilst attending a wedding in the area. We did not book a table but when we arrived we were the only people dining 6-30. We started off with poppodoms and pickle tray, but one of the sauces was made with considerable amount of curry powder added. The mains were average not the best I have had. When we left we were still the only ones dining.

Arriving in Millom about 9pm there are very few places to get an evening meal. Curry Spice was open and had a table. Service was reasonable as the waiter also served drinks and took take-away orders. We enjoyed our meals.

We decided to treat ourselves on a short visit to the LakesWe walked in, and the "waiter" just sort of pointed to a table. Put the menus on the table and off he went, a family of 3 followed us in and he did pretty much the same to them, as they say we asked if we could have some poppadoms and pickle tray, with 2 glass of water. He then went and asked the following table and went and got their drinks (obviously because they we're paying for alcoholic drinks they got theirs first, even though he had already taken our order?). He brought our warm water and then came our poppadoms and pickle tray ... We wait but no plates arrive to eat them o?! So I went and took 2 side plates from another table. The pickle tray was quite tasty and plenty of it with nice deep bowls, When the meal itself arrived the curry was nice, the gariic bread however was a joke! You could get a better one from your local supermarket! The waiter was downright ignorant he never came and asked if everything was ok, never asked if we wanted any other drinks. If it was the only place left within a 50mile radius of Mllom we wouldn't eat there again. OK food but please get staff with at least a basic level of customer service!!!

We ordered a take away and the yoghurt and mint sauce had gone off - it smelt bad and fizzed. We rang and they told us to drive all the way back with the meal. We went in the next evening with the sauce tub - but customer service was bad and all we got was a "sorry".to be honest, I would rather make my own now - this was terrible!

Mixed quality food. Have had both lovely and average food here. Service is a little slow and intense and atmosphere is lacking.

Probably the best Indian takeaway we have had-and we've had a few. What a gem-there were 6 of us and we ordered a massive banquet and collected to eat back at our campsite and we all said how lovely the food was. All piping hot and tasty, not chemically or cheap tasting as sometimes u can get from takeaways. Would absolutely recommend-if only they were in Liverpool

You wouldn't search it out, but you should as the food is great. Good quality meat. I had a cracking king prawn dish, can't remember the name, but labeled fairly hot and - for a change - that meant it. Very tasty. Staff pleasant.

First time we've been to million and decided to try curry spice and we definitely made the right choice as the food was lovely and very good value for money, thank you!

The restaurant is situated in the centre of Millom town with adequate parking spaces in the evening. It has a fairly typical Indian/Bengali menu but includes some special Bengali dishes. Its prices are reasonable and the service good. The portions are generous we have been several times and never disappointed with the quality of food presented. The curries are relatively milder than are typical for the description - the 'Madras' curries are in my view medium rather than hot - so bear that in mind when you order.

Very friendly people and a very nice restaurant inside. The food was average, the curries were a bit bland but the portion sizes were fairly large. They also do English meals but they were of average quality. Overall a welcoming restaurant with ok food quality.

We were greeted with smiles and a friendly welcome upon entering the restaurant. Service was fast and remained constantly friendly throughout the evening. The food is delicious and great value for money with generous portion sizes and a range of dishes on the menu. We had a great evening and will definitely be coming back again soon, thank you! :)
