Probably the worst dining experience of our lives which I don’t take any pleasure saying. We had never been here before but our friends are local And have They always spoke highly of the restaurant. The food, the atmosphere and service so we were so looking forward to going. The service was awful as we never received our focaccia bread or a bottle of red wine The portions were so small it resembled a starter and we all left hungry still. We understood from the 2 Asian ladies looking after the restaurant that the two Italian lady owners were busy setting up a new pizza parlour in Liverpool Street. I’m afraid that whilst you’re doing that your Woodford business is suffering Sad as I’m sure it’s taken you a lot of hard work to build

Wow is all I can say. I do love my Italian food for sure, and my friend recommended coming here for lunch and it was definitely worth it. Though there are not many tables inside and the place isn’t big, it’s cosy and the food I would definitely recommend. It was fresh and tasty and the best Italian I’ve had so far. Will be coming to try breakfast next.

Tucked down a residential road off George Lane, Cucina Bettina is a quaint little place serving simple but good Italian classics. The staff are charming. You can sit outside, away from the high street hurly burly or at one of the few inside tables. The short menu is indicative of the fact that Cucina Bettina's food is all home made. We loved the goats cheese gnocci and beef shin ragu and were impressed by the arancini starter and our Torte della Nonna pud. Our bottle of red was lovely and good value for money. The focaccio was a little on the heavy/underproved side for our liking, losing Cucina Bettina one star. We will be returning. This place has charm. It's small so fills up quickly. Might be wise to book.

I had been here before and had a very positive experience. I didn’t hesitate in booking an early dinner for 5 with the family. The starters were not delivered altogether as first 2 of us got them and then the rest came after a considerable gap. Among the starters we ordered 2 portions of Bruchetta however only one was served. I didn’t make a fuss about it as we didn’t want to wait a long time for another portion and assumed our order had been mis-heard. We waited a longtime for our main course. All the dishes were however tasty including the pistachio cake dessert but small portions & not particular value for money. I should have checked the bill at the time - as we got home I discovered that we were actually charged for 2 portions of the bruchetta.

Let me say, the food was excellent as always although I think portion size has been reduced since my last visit. The restaurant was packed and our reserved table was very cramped, with 2 small uncomfortable metal benches to seat 4 diners in my party. We had taken our own wine as agreed previously with Bettina (the owner), but was told by the 2 staff members that we couldn't do this, even though it had been agreed earlier. We reluctantly agreed to order our drinks with the restaurant, but then had to ask for glasses for those drinks. We explained that we had booked through The Fork Festival offering 50% off food. We had to ask for condiments, and eventually asking for the bill, we were charged at FULL price! This was queried, the staff obviously had no awareness of the 50% off deal through the Fork and the whole evening turned into total embarrassment.

A little Italian café in South Woodford with a range of pastas and pizza. I had a pizza - and very nice it was too! With a glass of wine, perfect for a low key supper. I will certainly be back.

Second visit and still wonderful food from Bettina. Great service, an absolute gem tucked away at South Woodford. Rustic authentic Italian food with true Maples heritage. Can't wait for my next visit

Arrived at 2.30 and before waitress even said hello she said we are closing at 4pm… really unwelcoming..we sat at a table and absolutely no interaction from the 2 waitress..took our order in silence.. had to ask for cutlery and condiments .. totally lacking in atmosphere.. and food bland … I so wish we had left and gone to Zizzi or elsewhere…and their pricing is expensive for the food they provide

What a let down, never made it through the door. Made a booking for 6, spoke to a lady twice to confirm, could only accommodate 4 on the day. Was told I believe by Thomas, if you didn’t speak to him no booking can be taken, furthermore if you don’t like it, tough luck. Bad attitude and run by a clown, avoid.

What a find! Just off George Lane but transported mile away to Italy. Food was gorgeous and good service. BYO for a small corkage fee. Sat outside as good weather but inside was nice too. They made us up a sharing platter for a starter which was fab. Will be going back to try the gnocchi.

A great little family-run Italian cafe / restaurant just off George Lane in South Woodford - perfect for a snack with coffee after local shopping. My partner and I (we live locally in South Woodford) had passed this little cafe / restaurant many times and decided to try it on Sunday (27/8) late morning. Two other tables were already occupied. We went for a coffee (flat white) and a hot chocolate - both delicious. I was tempted by the 'Toasted salami and cheese' on the menu which did not disappoint either! The crunchy sourdough toast with plenty of fillng was so more-ish to say the least! ... and all for a total of £14:15. A bargain! This is a lovely little family-run Italian cafe / restaurant with an excellent 'Specials' board that we'll definitely be back to try one evening. An excellent addition to eateries in South Woodford - they deserve to survive when they can serve up excellent food and drinks like these. Try it! - you won't be disappointed.

I live very near this new family-run restaurant and thoroughly recommend it! It's very small so you may want to book if on a weekend. Feels like you're in the lounge of your Italian Nonna! Pasta was light and delicious, my partner said his lasagne was the least stodgy he's ever eaten and pistachio cake and tiramisu were absolutely delicious! It's BYOB (currently no corkage fee) but if you forget, there's a few off licences on George Lane behind it. I hope it does really well but also selfishly hope it doesn't change as it's lovely as it is! The whole restaurant were chatting with each other by the end of our meal which felt like being on holiday!

The food here tastes really authentic and it is a great little restaurant. Eight of us sat under the awning and were wowed by the food ;everything from the homemade focaccia through to “ the best lasagne I have ever eaten” was spot on. If you want to eat fantastic Italian food in a bistro style setting , you should get to Cucina Bettina whilst you can still get a table. Not licensed, so bring your own alcohol.

I popped in for a quick lunch to this cosy & inviting restaurant. It could easily be missed as its tucked away from the main road. The atmosphere was so calm & friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed the Matriciana, followed by the blueberry cake which was very tasty. The staff helpfully explained the dishes as I was not familiar with what they’d been called. Apart from the menu, the restaurant offers a limited number of daily specials. I highly recommend the restaurant & pleased to be it’s first reviewer on Tripadvisor.
