Went to the Courthouse for the first time on Sunday for the take away carvery and was very impressed at the quality and content on the meal. The meats was cooked to perfection as were all the other accompanying vegetables. Service was very quick and cost was very reasonable for the amount of food provided. I would highly recommend the Courthouse and I will be using it again in the future.

Top notch carvery. And even the kids were happy with their grub.

Stopped in this restaurant on the way home from a walk in Gosford. Had never had food here before and was not disappointed. Friendly service, great menu, fantastic food. Well worth a visit.

Sunday Lunch is so very good at the courtrooms - its very busy so if you need a table advise to reserve it. the food - value for money and service are all top notch. The number of folk there on the day - many Sunday regulars speaks volumes about the food and the service and of course value for money. A very good choice for a Sunday lunch and judging by the number of take a ways - many in the local community think the same. Well down Angela - Samantha and their amazing team.

Was there for Sunday dinner and the food was lovely

The staff were fantastic, very attentive and really friendly. It was a very busy Saturday (the day before mothers Day). We were asked to wait a few minutes on a table (perfectly acceptable, there were 6 of us) the staff were very nice about it, very apologetic. The food was okay, although the portion size for the sides was very small (my side came in a very small glass) and the kids' portions were so small they were not suitable for a 9 year old. I ended up giving my side of chips to the 9 year old to ensure she got enough.

Great place for a fry in the morning. Lunch food great too. It has a large seating capacity so you can usually find a table without any hassle. Good for meetings too.

Lovely food and reasonably priced and friendly service

Went here today for Sunday lunch, I definitely would not go back for lunch, mash potatoes were cold not even creamy mash was not nice roasties were horrible didn't even taste like a proper roastie I think they were frozen, nothing special about this lunch, for the price they were charging .

Passing by I stopped for a snack. Order and shown to a table the food was delivered quite quickly. All was freshly cooked and warm. Busy venue with many calling in which as you know is always a good sign. Food was good.

Horrible experience. Food was below sub power, the staff were extremely standoffish and when complaining about the facilities, cold food and service we did not even receive an apology. As a party of 5 we will never return.

We found this wee place by chance and what a find. An awesome gem. Food absolutely 💯 😋 gorgeous 😍 will definitely 👍 be back. The service and staff were exceptional and they couldn't have been more welcoming 😀 So many choices on the menu spoilt for choice.

Lovely quaint country feel to the restaurant. A very good mixed menu with loads on it. I had prawn open sandwich with a portion of chips, all delicious . The open prawn was really a big portion so I didn't really need the chips ( ate them anyway) my husband had chicken goujons and chips and said beautiful. We both had lovely Apple tart one with fresh cream and the other with ice cream. Gorgeous. Lovely friendly staff. Definitely be back.

Food is hearty and fresh. Have been a few times and was not disappointed each time. The desserts, scones, traybakes and selection of pies to take home is fabulous. Great wee place with local artists works decorating the walls. Love seeing local talent being spotlighted. My mum particularly loved the lemon meringue and I enjoyed the fresh apple tart with cream. Parking can be a bit unaccessible for anyone with a disability or with a pram as it's on a hill but not too bad if you have support. Lovely wee spot to visit for lunch and a good selection of food on offer.

Really, really poor service! It was made very clear from the moment that we sat down that our custom was unimportant. As a paying customer I genuinely don’t expect to be treated with such little regard. I’ve been coming here on and off for quite a while and it is exceptionally variable. The food is often very nice, the service is usually OK. Not today.

Very good. Was the courthouse for Markethill and still has the cells in the bottom floor. The food is always well cooked and fresh. Very good menu Very friendly staff. Clean and updated toilets. Parking is just on the village street.

Food was OK but more what I would expect from a cafe than a restaurant. Having said that it wasn't expensive but was more than I would expect to pay for a cafe. Staff were friendly. Nice old wooden tables

Visited this restaurant yesterday for a light lunch and we weren't disappointed. It was very busy but the waitress soon found us a seat. We ordered the Haggis cheddar cheese and chutney sandwich and a portion of the fries. The sandwich arrived with a small side salad the homemade coleslaw is delicious as to the sandwich it was amazing and the fries were hot and fresh can't tell you how delicious the sandwich was I said wow at the time. I also ordered a lemon yoghurt and blueberry scone 2 coffees which were very nice the scone was brought to me warm from the oven they are to die for really really delicious. The bill was £18.00 but worth every penny. Also the young lady who served us was lovely polite and helpful as was the young lady to whom I paid the bill overall a great experience can't wait to go back. Excellent highly recommend.

We were passing and stopped for lunch . It was 12.05. Ordered Steak pie & Chicken from their “Special of the Day” It was a huge disappointment !!!! First time I have seen a pie served with no pastry. !!!’ Filling served in a Soup Bowl and topped with the most disgusting potatoes. When did that become a pie ??? Chicken just ok .... Both dishes served with veg and mash Chicken came with chips which were terrible (and not ordered to begin with) & no mash . Steak pie had mash which tasted off. Definitely NOT good. Our plates were noticeably untouched when waitress cleared them . She never asked if everything was ok & should have observed by the amount left on our plates . Place looked very nice from exterior but hugely disappointing food. We paid our bill and left disgusted. Never again .... Do not be drawn in by the nice exterior. We left and stopped at Hotel in Armagh had a beautiful lunch there....

I have had many meals in this restaurant. Excellent home from home food at amazing low cost. Their cooked breakfasts are lovely and they also do a slimmers cooked breakfast, perfect for us trying to lose weight. Pleasant staff and lovely surroundings.

Lovely restaurant which serves really good quality home cooking type food. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit and the stunning Gosford Forest Park is really close by.

Lovely welcoming people good food fast service. Remembered us and our allergies coulnt do enough to help. Very decently priced. If in area make an effort to go .it is a new favorite of ours best food in armagh area. Ladies who serve very friendly couldnt do enough for us.

We called in for a snack at a busy lunch time and received lovely cappuccino, scone and soup. The rest of the menu looked appealing and reasonably priced. Very convenient location, close to Gosford Park where we went for a lovely autumn walk afterwards. We'd definitely return and would highly recommend. The staff were very pleasant and the décor was comfortable and cosy with interesting local artwork on display.

Had a great birthday lunch for mum and 12 family members on 30th September, we had a room at the back and the staff were lovely and very accommodating, the food was 1st class.

We stopped at this place to try it out as it looked nice from the outside. We travel this way once a week and thought maybe it could be a regular stop over for us. How wrong we were!! The food was appalling , could not believe that ingredients could be cooked so badly. Vegetables baked cauliflower and carrots were inedible, the cottage pie was mince with gravey and something that resembled potatoes on top, the mashed potatoes were hard and lumpy, my partner had the menus fresh cod ,freshly battered, a joke it was frozen packet fish. Surely with the wonderful ingredients in our country food could be cooked to be enjoyed,. When paying we weren't asked about our experience. When she saw our plates with the food not eaten I suppose she knew our response.

Stopped here for a quick light lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Nothing too fancy...and I don't mean that in a bad way....just good honest food. Lovely surroundings and fantastic staff. Well worth a visit if you're passing by.

Éramos un grupo de 66 personas de gira en Co. Armagh y decidimos organizar un pre-almuerzo en el restaurante de audiencias a mediados de semana. Teníamos sopa (elección de dos), sándwiches, salchichas, pastas, bandeja goujons, té y café. Otras bebidas disponibles. Comimos en el 1 salón de la planta calle, que habían sido decoradas. Las mesas estaban bien y la comida estaba muy bien presentado y muy sabroso. Ángela y Samantha nos cuidó muy bien. Seguro hay aparcamiento en la calle y la pausa para el almuerzo fue muy agradable. Bien hecho chicas!

Llame el 10 de/04/2017 para el almuerzo con mi hija. Tuve salchichas y puré, para compartir con una niña que estaba conmigo, y yo no podía comer la mitad. La cebolla cruda en la salsa eran de cebolla y las patatas eran muy desiguales, pero lo peor era mi hija pidió una Ensalada Caesar, que, cuando llegó consistía de lechuga, pollo, uno estándar cortar tomate en 4, croutons y mayonesa. La camarera era amable, pero no volveré.

Mi marido y yo tuvimos una comida estupenda en el pasado domingo en audiencias. El personal nos pareció acogedor, la comida era sabrosa, casera y caliente, y el precio era muy razonable. Caldo de verduras que teníamos y ensalada césar con pollo, seguido por Turquía y jamón y carne asada, tarta de manzana y crema pastelera y cálido con pavlova con helado y café para terminar. Realmente disfrutamos de nuestra comida y sin duda volveremos.

Just across the road from Gosford Forest Park in the town of Markethill, the Courtrooms are easily accessed for a lite bite or lunches. Good food in pleasant surroundings and reasonably priced.

Stopped in on bank holiday Monday for a lovely lunch. Went for the special, only one left and it was really tasty. Would recommend the courtrooms and I will definitely be back. It's a shame this place shuts at 4. There were patrons turned away the day I was there, who were wanting food. Nice atmosphere, pleasant staff and free wifi.

First visit, we asked if they could accommodate us outside as so hot we couldn't leave dogs in the car. Chef picked up a table and took it out near carpark. Waited really pleasant and very efficient. Food lovely quality. Best omelette I have ever eaten and wonderful desserts. Now our local haunt when we go to gosford park

The Courtrooms Restaurant is located in Markethill's beautifully restored Old Courthouse, which reopened back in 2000 after lying semi-derelict for many years. As well as the main restaurant area, the old courtroom upstairs is available as a function room, and stairs from the restaurant lead down to the original cells.The menu features a range of family favourite dishes, as well as a changing list of specials, all of which were delicious and served in huge country-sized portions that should probably have cost a lot more than we paid. Some of the specials, such as stuffed sausages wrapped in bacon, while firm favourites in Northern Ireland seem sadly unknown to the wider world. The staff were very pleasant throughout our visit and many of the regulars are treated like family (or possibly they are - Markethill's a small place!). It's been a year or two since we last ate in the Courtrooms, but hopefully we'll be back again a bit more quickly.

great place to stop for food and drink, the food very fresh and well presented and you get your tea or coffee topped up no extra cost , and not expensive, the staff was very friendly and quick to take your order, Samantha one off the staff was very helpful, the restaurant is wheelchair friendly , and has free wifi, there is loads of parking each side of the road , the restaurant is just across the road from gosford forest park and castle where they shot a few film takes for game of thrones. me and my family give this restaurant 100 % Jamie and lizzy 12/2/ 2016

Being a native of Markethill my wife & I stopped for a bite of lunch today at courthouse. I had the soup & sandwich combo, leek & potato soup & chicken & mayo sandwich. The food & service was first class. First class atmosphere , fire lit as well.Girl who served us was helpful & friendly ! Would recommend eating here price very reasonable to !Good job

Called for lunch with 3 colleagues. Not many customers in when we arrived. Service was quick and orders taken quickly. Food was freshly cooked and served quickly and well presented. Desserts were good and tea was served with the food and, topped up with water. Good food, good friendly staff and not expensive.

I eat here reasonably often. Great breakfasts and lunches or even just a coffee and a scone. Inviting and warm atmosphere with friendly staff. Good decent home cooking
