Food is very good and staff are very friendly and always polite nothing is too much trouble if you want food cooking fresh. Menu caters for all people

Didn't like being treated like a weirdo for asking to have a cod put in, thought it was a fish and chip shop. Batter tasted like 6 month old burnt fat, about 5% of the chips were crispy, the rest soggy. First and last time I'm coming in, cheers

They package the food poorly. And the don't listen to request. Mainly young kids with no care for the food

Our first time ordering from Chris’s, we normally order in shop! It was okay, still warm! The chips were a bit soggy though and not enough s&v! But still yummy!

Best fish and chips for miles. The Scampi and salad is a real deal.

Best Chips I’ve had in a long time they were a bit like the ones Mama used to make . Nice and thick, tasty and really scrummy. The Sticky Toffee Pud was lovely too Thank you

30 mins late despite just eat saying it was here. Driver was apologetic stating they're very busy however I ordered it 1.5 hrs in advance. Food was soggy and had a reheated taste to it, very disappointed.

All the pizzas were overcooked, we have had pizzas from here before they have always been fine. Maybe the chef was watching the football, we won’t be ordering again

After decades of illness and not eating take-away, I decided to treat myself to a simple delight of chips and mushy peas (I couldn't order anything else as I am a vegan coeliac) I ordered it for 6pm and with salt and vinegar! It arrived a little early - luke warm, tasted like lunch-time's left overs, no vinegar, and simply inedible. I think it would have been a different experience if I'd ordered a more expensive meal but I'm limited as to what I can eat considereing my condition. I was so looking forward to a treat after all these years! All in all, an awful ordeal and only managed to eat a few of the chips. Never again!

While the food is nice I don’t understand why you pay a delivery charge, a bagging charge and service change ?

In the past, the food has been good here. Just lately, not so good. The chips I suspect had sat in the heated cabinet for a while as they had dried out. The pies were soft, the crust didn’t have the crunch when fresh. Delivered half an hour late. Just hope it improves if I try them again

Portion sizes are becoming a joke. To busy serving just eat etc and the people walking in made to wait.

Food came fast and on time but wasn’t well packaged so arrived slightly cold, chips were cold and the chicken was dry. However this may just be a one off as the fish and chips from here have always been spot on, so will still be ordering from here again

Been here many times and normally it is excellent which is why we return. This time however it was a smaller portion size compared to normal even when we upgraded to a larger version on one of the kebabs. Should have had 2 dips and only received one. Chips were stale and dry tasting and many had bruise black marks. Kebab wasn't the same as normal flavour wise and very bland. Naan dry and tough. Raised a complaint but only a partial refund given rather than a full one.

After a long wait for grilled chicken was not the best certainly not worth the wait. Children’s meal stated on the board with toy and lolly what you actually got was a small pack of haribo sweets. False advertising! Chips not great. Service was poor. Perhaps they should decide whether their focus is deliveries or the shop.

Cold kebab, was awful, second time running! Avoid, no longer any good, must be new owner. This place used to be the best, but I gather they have sold and moved on, I would not buy again from here! People be aware

Arrived on time they said. Chips were a little soggy but the fish cake, sausage and savoy were 10/10! My partner got the cheeseburger which was amazing!!

Standard of food gone down hill use to get nice chips but all bitty nowadays the batter use to be a nice golden colour more like a rusty brown . Would be nice to have fewer chips but a better quality.

My order was over an hour late after it was delivered to the wrong address. I phoned after 45 minutes to be told there had been a problem and the order would be with me in 5 minutes. 15 minutes later I got called to say the order had been delivered to another address and would have to be re-done from scratch. It eventually arrived over an hour late! If I hadn't rang I am not sure if I would have been told anything. Not a great 1st experience for this restaurant! Not sure I will be ordering again!

The food is always great. Because it's so busy the food is always freshly cooked and piping hot. Prices are fair too. The problem, though, is the service. The last few times we've visited, there were 5 or 6 people working behind the counter, but almost all working on delivery orders. I'll give them another go, but if it's still the same next time, I think I'll try somewhere else.

We order lunch 2/3 times a year for 30 to 50 people and we are always happy with the service and the food. they are very organised writing names on the orders was hugely helpful thank you 😊

Fantastic food and customer service. Once again our local fish and chip shop deserves 5* Delivery tonight was a huge piece of well cooked cod in perfect batter and it was delicious. Big enough to serve 2 people at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended

Food is always great, 1 item was missed off the order but I was contacted and informed that the missing item was on its way with a driver. Appreciated the customer care and will happily order again.

The food was gorgeous as always, but sadly was quite cold so had to be reheated before eating.

ordered chips and cheese and there was hardly any cheese. we usually order this because it was large enough to share but there wasnt much it's left us hungry still. to charge that much for what we got is not value for money and definitely wasn't chips and cheese. Food showed up cold. We used to love ordering from Chris's but lately has gone down hill, we won't be ordering again unfortunately.

the chips and cheese in the boxes don't work. every time I order the cheese sticks to the top of the box and I'm having to pick it all off along with the white paper used as I'm physically eating it....

We had a big order last night so it took a while to do, but I asked for not battered fish and they grilled it and it was the most amazing fish ever. Will happily have that again, it was even better than a fish that I had in a fish and chip restaurant by the sea, beautiful.

Having visited before I was happy to return, unfortunately on this visit the place was staffed by teenagers who didn't acknowledge my presence, they were happy sorting the online orders out, I stood for at least 5 minutes before being spoken to - it's fabulous that they've got such a good trade with online orders, but don't neglect the ones who turn up in person. You'd have got a better rating if I'd at least been acknowledged and "apologies I'll be with you as soon as possible" rather than being ignored

Did get a text to say food would be late, but clearly the food was cooked for the planned time, nearly cold , very soggy. Disappointed

We had no salad with our kebabs or sauce we selected.

Just been waiting in the queue, when it was my turn to get served, nothing, 4 people behind the counter all avoiding eye contact with customers! Waited 8 minutes whilst it was my turn to be served, not even an acknowledgment of me being there! Walked out, they clearly don’t want my business anymore. Normally we go there twice a week, but no more.

I’ve given 5 stars for my order this evening, despite the order being late and half of the meal missing and what was delivered was cold. But the guy I spoke to when I called in was very polite and apologetic and dealt with the issue promptly. I’ve had plenty of meals from Chris’s in the past and until this evening all have been spot on. Good customer service, will certainly continue to order from here.

Food was shocking, kebab was like leather and I was missing 3 items, normally never have a problem but I don’t know what happened tonight

Have ordered a few times as there aren’t many options in Earl shilton. Not really impressed with food again. I paid extra for large sized mixed kebab, to me it looked normal sized? Not sure what you class as large but to me this definitely wasn’t it. Chips ARE ALWAYS undercooked, not enjoyable. I also asked for salt and vinegar, none of them were put on the chips. Don’t think I’ll ever be ordering from here again now. Has happened a few times. Time to find a new take away

Just they told me it would be 7 10 to 7.30, it came at 7.20 but they didn't tell me if it was on it's way, so I had no idea when it when it was coming.

Quick and efficient service at Chris's. They have lots of staff so even with a queue there's not much of a wait. Food is hot and really good portions. Great selection of good quality food.

Nice piece of haddock with gluten free batter, haddock was a little dry, batter crispy but flat. I will go again but not 5*

Didn't get my pye and chips only pye

The gluten free fish was really well done however the normal haddock we ordered was soaked in grease to the point I couldn’t eat half of it as the batter had slopped off on to the paper. We were missing a mushy peas from the order. Overall not impressed with the quality and will probably not be ordering in the future.

First time ordering great food delivery time

Very expensive for the quality I expected a nice fresh piece of cod for £8.50 but tasted as tho it had either been sitting in the warmer for a while or was double fried to heat it back up the batter was hard and chewey in places The chips were very nice though but I won't be rushing to order from here again

I visited on 29/07/23 @ 18.00pm.The mushy peas had a nasty smell and were hard, the fish was soggy and tough and the whole meal was ruined by the really smelly peas, it really was a horrible meal which i forced half of it down . I rang and told them the situation and i was told to come in for a refund. I arrived there 20 mins later to be told that since i never returned the food (they never told me to) ,they would only refund me the peas because i had bought the container in for them to smell. The staff were very rude and made me feel extremely uncomfortable with their attitude, just an awful chip shop avoid. I can still smell the peas as iam writing this review and i feel sick not a good experience at all. To reply to your comment i was offered a £5 credit not the full amount of my meal (which was £25.60) which was ruined and i attempted to half eat, why would i return half eaten food when it is in the bin, you should of told me when i rang you to bring the meal in and i would of scraped it out the bin, but you didnt, so you was not professional or courteous ,you made me travel back 20 mins for a refund which you had no intention of giving simple, very poor.

Had 3 roe from here on different occasions and all 3 have been off my cat wouldn't even eat it and he loves roe chips are okay sometimes I know the cost of living crises at the moment but his prices are astronomical so expensive for a small bag of chips you could buy a bag of potatoes for less and cook several portions of chips

Spent literally years avoiding this place as we had two orders from there around 2013/14 that were dire and made us feel ill afterward. Went for the centre of Barwell one instead when in the area - but that's not as great these days and we were recently passing by Chris'... What can we say, we're converts! Excellent service - really kind and polite staff that go the extra mile to not make you feel rushed. Fish and chips were fresh tasting, not too greasy or overdone and very well priced considering. It's a little tight inside the shop itself but bright and more importantly clean, definitely worth it, would recommend all try it out (and be brave if you've had a poor experience in the past!) Super food and management, a credit to the area.
