China Rice in South Derbyshire

Called in for a meal as all local eateries were packed out. My wife had her usual chicken chow mein, which she enjoyed. However my chicken szechuan and fried rice was bland. Lots of chicken and veg but the sauce was watery and lacked the spiciness I would expect. No egg in the fried rice. At home, for about £5 cheaper, we would have had a far tastier meal. It was not until I began this review I realised we had also been overcharged by £1. Having seen some of the positive reviews, I can only assume, this was a bad day in the kitchen. Thankfully, unlikely to be in this area again so won't have to consider a return visit

This continues to set the standard. Living nearby, to sit down and eat food of this type and of this standard means driving to Lichfield. IMHO, the best takeaway in any postcode related to Swad or Burton. Our favourites are the chicken dough balls, any of the curries, Kung Po chicken, chilli chips, chilli and salt chicken and the house rice.

Anyone who reviews the China Rice and says the food is tasteless clearly is suffering from COVID!! The food is amazing! Kung Po chicken = delicious! The garlic and salt chicken wings = incredible! Salt and pepper chicken = wondrous!! This is food created and cooked by Chinese nationals who have a genuine still and who also are brilliant on service. Well worth making a special journey and avoiding the imitations.

Looking at trip advisor for this takeaway, I felt sure we were in for a treat, how disappointed i was to have tonight’s takeaway, tiny portions & the most tasteless food i have ever tried! Not a patch on Fortune Garden in Swadlincote! To top it all it was more expensive than our normal takeaway!

We moved to the area and struggled to find a decent Chinese takeaway - until we found this place, excellent food the best we’ve tasted for a long time Definitely will be going again and highly recommend if you’re looking for a takeaway that you can enjoy

This take away will take some beating for the quality of its food on a regular basis, the prompt service you always receive and the very helpful staff always willing to advise when asked.

I've been using this Chinese takeaway for years and years..... since it's down the road from me helps. The food has always been delicious, hot and fast! The takeaway is a family run business and the customer service is excellent, I've know Mandy since I was still at school! My friend comes over especially for the takeaway as it's the best Chinese takeaway in the Burton area (best one I've been to in the UK!), highly recommend everything on the menu.... however you should try their chilli and salt chips (special chips!) they're a new addition and absolutely lovely.

China rice is a good Chinese takeaway, their service is consistently good, they are very friendly, always keep their promises, and the food is always produced to a high standard.

This is a lovely, friendly, family run take away. The food is piping hot and fresh. You can tell the meat is fresh because it is tender and tasty. Definitely recommend it

We regularly have take away meals from China rice. It's the best in the area!! Our only moan is that it doesn't open on Sunday so we have to go somewhere else.

Orden siempre comida china desde aquí, la primera para llevar que me he encontrado con categoría de 5 estrellas. Muy limpio y ordenado por dentro. Servidor siempre amable, eficiente y servicial. Comida sabroso y excelentes para probar. Sin duda merece la pena conducir y siempre es mejor reservar previamente como en fines de semana se llena de gente. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente :)

La comida es perfecto ... El servicio es amable y encantador personal fabuloso servicio rápido. Esta pizzería se merece 5 estrellas porque te dejan buena comida con una buena relación calidad-precio, con muy buen servicio amable no hay nada aquí que es negativo. Espero que puedan crecer y tener éxito como se lo merecen ... Sin duda en mi lista de recomendación

This place is a takeaway only, and is only open Weds-Sat. But it's light years ahead of all other Chinese takeaways in the area. Go here, don't bother with anywhere else.

Chinese is one of my favourite take away meals and after moving to the area I knew I had to find a quality and clean restaurant. China rice meets these expectations. They are friendly, service is fast and good and food tastes amazing!

Imagine a small Chinese takeaway hidden away in a residential street of a quaint Derbyshire village producing incredibly good food - well, the China Rice is that place. I'm amazed that hasn't been reviewed before on Trip Advisor and perhaps it's because the locals want to keep this treasure their own secret?Our favourites here are the Malaysian chicken curry, the Kung Po sauce with chicken and the totally phenomenal salty, chilli chicken wings.
