Good value Chinese takeaway. They are very quick and food is very good for the price.

the delivery was late due to the restaurant providing the incorrect address to the driver, so not the drivers error. thankfully food was still good

Very rude lady that takes order I’ve just asked for black been sauce to be added in the portion but she very rudely said NO I cannot put it inside only on the side but she spoke very rudely and aggressive I don’t recommend this place

I've ordered from them first time tonight after my friend recommendation. Firstly I phoned them to make sure that they won't put any meat except for chicken in my Singapore noodles and any vegetables in my fussy daughter dish:) and they did really amazing, food was so tasty and a big yes for customer service:) my new place for Chinese takeout

The food is absolutely disgusting, the prawns tasted super off and am worried I am to get food poisoning. They use way too much paste in all the food. All the stiryfry just taste like frozen meat with sweet and sour sauce poured over it. I would not recommend, the lady over the phone was adamant that this is the way the food should taste and refused to acknowledge what was wrong with the food. We didn’t end up eat and ordered with someone else. If I could I wouldn’t even give one star.

I do not normally bother with reviews but on this occasion I felt compelled to leave some feedback! My order arrived in time and the food was hot and without doubt the best Chinese I have ever had! The soup starter, which is a first for me, was simply superb! My only complaint was that there was so much of it but I am sure I can have another go at it tomorrow!

I have ordered from China City on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. Delivery is always on time or early (mostly early) and the quality of the food is fab. Always hot and the meat quality is excellent compared to other places. Tasty dishes and standards are consistent. Excellent Chinese takeaway!

Good food, but very late delivery

Really, really nice set dinner for 3. Good value, plenty of variety, and was delivered within 20 minutes on a Saturday night! The Szechuan chicken was a great mix of sweet and fiery. One criticism, the deep fried seaweed was far too sweet, even for my kids.

The food was the best Chinese I’ve tasted in a very long time. The taste was phenomenal and the food was packaged well so there were no spillages. The only critique was the delivery time as it took 1 hour to arrive which I believe is their standard delivery window. I also had to reheat the food as it was not hot despite not being far from the shop. I can only put this down to the fact that the delivery time is 1 hour.

The best Chinese and Thai we have ever had in south London! Always fresh and tasty. Food taste amazing you can tell they cook everything fresh , prawns done to perfection not overcooked, as a seafood lover I absolutely enjoy my Thai red and green curry, always full of flavour .

Always good taste but today we was a little disappointed, I hope it was a one off blip maybe rushed the food , tasted a little strange not like usual high quality, but we will order again as usually it’s absolutely amazing.

Delivery was bang on time. Generally everything was over seasoned though - far too salty. Orders from here as our usual choice (Royal Dragon) was unavailable. With less salt/MSG this would have been great

Food was good but we ordered a beef in black bean sauce and got a friend chilli beef. Didn’t bother phoning to complain because the rest of the food would have turned cold before we got the right dish.

Ordered two soups, chips and vegetables. Wonton soup was fine. Chicken noodle soup wasn’t great. The chicken looked like it had been reheated and didn’t look safe to eat. The chips arrived barely edible - it tasted like they’d been recooked or reheated. The vegetables were ok but… pretty over cooked and soggy. I was under the weather and really wanted some comfort food, this was a huge (expensive) disappointment.

The food quality was shocking, the mushroom curry was bland as anything and had way too many onions, even the onions didn’t taste of anything. Sauce was oily and extremely runny. King prawns looked very anaemic. The delivery came super early which was a shock & maybe why it didn’t taste nice at all. Has left an nasty aftertaste. Harsh but true

Honestly the best tasting Chinese takeaway in Purley!

Fantastic! Our first time ordering (as our usual Chinese was closed!) and the food was better than expected! Great satay, spring rolls and crispy duck! The rice, noodles, sweet and sour and chicken and black bean were fresh, the vegetables crunchy and great portions! This will definitely become our new Chinese! Genuinely delicious!

First time ordering from China City, and happy with the meal. It was delivered on time, and all the dishes were of a high standard. (There was some disagreement about the satay sauce - I prefer it spicier, others in the party love it as it is.) We will order again.

Read the review after and must say was nervous got it looked ok but honestly not good what a waste of money shredded beef was soggy had the most weird taste bin ribs were cut up into tiny pieces and was all fat didn’t taste like any meat Iv ever had the only thing was ok was Lemmon chicken and noodles so half my order went in bin will not order again so scared I will be sick tomorrow that’s how bad

Greasy, tasteless, bland...never again

If read the reviews I would not have eaten here at all honestly. I was skeptical when I pulled up outside this place as it’s on a back road however kids where hungry and it was a Sunday so wanted some proper Food. China city was well worth it food was cooked to perfection seasoned well good customer service and quick. A lot of bad reviews but mostly about their customer service and timing as I went on a Sunday maybe I got the calmer staff either way flavours where 10/10.

Decent food but far too quick in the delivery, wasn't ready to eat, deliberately ordered at 19:15 as the restaurant stated delivery time would be 20:00-20:20. No update on the app either to say driver on the way either, which really negates the need for the app.

Ordered a 1/4 duck delivered on Deliveroo. Duck meat was discoloured/green. Chucked it straight in the bin.

Didn't enjoy the food all that much...my favourite place was unavailable so I thought I'd try this place but the WT soup was not as nice as the soup I get from my usual place.

Worst Chinese I think we've ever ordered. Food arrived just about warm and had to be heated up. The curry had chips in it for some reason. (These weren't even cooked very well, still frozen bits to them), salt and pepper chicken was barely cooked and had no colour to the batter at all, id even argue that it wasnt salt and pepper. No taste or flavour to any of it. Will definitely not be ordering from here again.

Food just about warm, had to be reheated. Random uncooked chips in Malaysian curry. Not just 1 or 2 either but quite a few like they were trying to bulk out the dish. Salt and pepper chicken had no taste of salt and pepper and batter was so pale I'd argue that it was only in the pan for a few seconds, was also soggy. This was the same for the chicken wings as well. All disheds had no flavour to them at all and were very bland. Tried to call restaurant to complain but couldn't even get someone to answer. Will NEVER order from here again.
