Whilst it tasted good for £13.60 I would expect to not still be hungry having eaten a tiny portion of fries and some chicken wings + BBQ sauce - being the only generously portioned item!

I was in a taxi with my kids we planned on going to abbey road, we asked the driver where we could have lunch before visited the studios (which were closed), the driver said their burgers are the best in London, so we went there. Apon arrival we where presented with a small menu, but with tasty-looking options, unfortunately there where no buffalo wings, so we asked for the burgers right away, a chicken burger (ironic) a normal burger, and a vegeterian burger, along with some mac'n cheese and coleslaw, we enjoyed our meal, but i think the coleslaw had a lot mayo.

Brilliant chicken and amazing mac and cheese, their prices are very good with very very good service

Had a fab meal year with my boys. Left London 5 years ago so hadn't been here since then. Dirty burger is now part of the offering and it did not disappoint. I had a burger and boys shared half a chicken, with corn and fries on the side. We all loved our meal and I loved the cocktails for £10 😂

Great meal at Chicken Shop, having been to previous stores this one was topped by the service - we even got magic, which was thoroughly enjoyable and the waiter, Luke, was extremely friendly and made our experience much to remember! Thank you to all the staff, great stuff!

We’ve been to the Crouch End branch before but the staff in the Tooting branch are particularly friendly and good fun. Delicious chicken, amazing fries and mac n cheese...The Chicken Shop just get everything on their menu right.

This place was a major disappointment for me. I was looking forward to eating her all week and I left still feeling hungry. Ordered the signature burger, mac and cheese, sweet potato fries and the avocado salad. The burger was ok..no GBK and was messy to eat The sweet potatoes fries came out lukewarm. This shouldn't have been the case especially as the restaurant was not busy at all I was put off from the mac and cheese before it came out. I asked the waiter how long it would take if we wanted to order another one and he said 3mins! clearly this isn't made fresh. when it came I wasn't impressed with the flavour The salad was over priced for a but of lettuce and avacado drizzled in a sauce which was not my personal taste They add on 12.5% service charge and I thought this was cheeky especially as there were only 2 of us Left feeling hungry and the price was nearly £20pp. Expensive for what it was.

Ate here on 8/1/2019 after reading reviews on here. If I could give this 6 out of 5 I would.Had the smokey wings starter followed by the half chicken, curly fries and coleslaw.The chicken is the best I have tasted in years and the coleslaw is a meal on its own.Good pint of Camden Hells to wash it down, job done.Everyone should give this place a go. Almost forgot gluten free as well.

Oreo milkshake was delish, good few veggie options on the menu despite the restaurant name :) I tried the portobello mushroom burger with cheese which was tasty and had a Mac and cheese side which was a good generous size. Service was very fast and friendly

This chicken shop rotisserie chicken is the absolute best ever . Succulent, moist and crispy skin . The tray option is a good little money saver . One of the waiters even does a few little card tricks , to enhance your evening.

Chicken Shop in Tooting is a cool place with amazing food! I’d go as far to say that the chicken burger I had in there was one of the best if not the best I’d ever had! The chicken on the bone is also delicious and it is cool how you can watch them be cooked in front of you!

My family and I started going to chicken shop for the last three years. We have takeaways and eat in. It is great each and every time. The service is good. Food is excellent, reasonably priced. Last time we were told that there juice maker machine is broken which was disappointing because we love their fresh orange juice.

Me & my partner visited here in January and the whole experience was brilliant. Nice pleasant service by the guy on the Till, the chefs (who cook right in front of you) was chatty and pleasant, and even let us try a bit of chicken whilst waiting. The food itself was lovely, and worth the wait. It’s not the cheapest but such is modern day prices and to see it all prepared in front of you, makes that difference. Seating is hard to come by and so it’s always full inside. We visited in the winter but I imagine it would be hot inside in the summer. Have been back since and had similar experiences, would recommend.

This place was in a basement. Very small but definitely a gem. The cook looked like he really enjoyed his job. You can see them cooking chicken for it is part of restaurant experience. Food was delicious and filling. FYI be careful ordering beet salad it can be spicy.

Simple yet very good food - perfect if you're in a hurry. Enjoyed a whole Chicken between the 3 of us plus sides and wine. Really nice interior and busy even at 4pm. Hope to visit other branches too.

My husband and I went at 6pm on a Tuesday evening and had a fantastic dinner for £22. This included half chicken, sweet potato fries and avocado salad. I’ve been to several other chicken shops, however this was my favourite visit! The food was really tasty! The waitress was extremely friendly as well.

Pollo alla griglia, ma ben marinato e grigliato, accompagnato da salsette piccanti e non. Contorni semplici ma genuini, in armonia con il pollo. Locale accogliente e personale gentile. Perfetto per andarci in famiglia o con amici.

Love the place, the food and the service, Very friendly. We went recommended with friends that use to come here and was completely delicious. Very nice Price and quality.

Tooting is never short of chicken shops. We have Nandos, KFC, and several kebab shops.

Wanted one of these for a while and wasn't disappointed. Doubled up on a bacon. Lovely with melted cheese and succulent burger. Another great burger. Chips are fine.

Really nice friendly staff. My husband had been several times before and loved it. We hadn't booked, but there were spare seats at the counter, so we sat and watched the chef in action. He was terrific to watch, in perpetual motion. Chopping up chickens and putting new chickens over the barbecue. Wonderful aromas wafting around. It's got a nice atmospher. Sort of shabby barn sawdust feel to the decor with low subdued lighting. Two of us had a half chicken,fries and coleslaw, and the other had a quarter chicken. The chips are a good size portion, so if you are a lighter eater I would suggest maybe sharing with someone. The flavour of the chicken was really delicious. We all enjoyed it.

Hay un montón de restaurantes baratos que sirve hamburguesas mediocre y pollo. Este lugar no es uno de ellos. Simplemente conseguir pollo justo por cocinar en un asador aseguran que el suculento y húmeda con la piel crujiente delicioso. El ambiente es genial. Quédate con el evento principal y no te puedes equivocar. Excelente.

Chicken Shop in Tooting is a star amongst a variety of restaurants in the area. Before you set foot inside you are greeted to the waft of sweet and smoky BBQ. The venue itself is compact and has great atmosphere. I highly recommend a whole chicken with sides amongst friends and family. Delicious, succulent chicken and crinkle cut chips is a treat, especially with the house hot sauce (very spicy and moreish). Will be back again.

2 visits within a week. Heard good reviews from work colleagues. Definitely agree after being there. Chicken so moist and succulent. My husband loves the Dirty bird burger. Best onion fries and sweet potato fries. I enjoyed the corn on the cob with garlic butter too. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. My husband and I will definitely be regulars at the chicken shop in Tooting as work nearby. Well worth paying the little extra for the chicken and the sides. Also try the elderflower soda.

I thought that Chicken Shop was going to be just another version of the new 'Chicken and Blues' type restaurant, which it is. However, they do it extremely well! The chicken was cooked amazingly, their method seems to keep the chicken amazingly succulent while also giving delicious, crispy, char-grilled skin. They do really good crinkle cut chips and onion fries. I would highly recommend you try this out if.you get the chance

It does what it says on the tin! Great flavour rotisserie chicken and now dirty burgers, though we've yet to try them as we love the chicken so much. There were eight of us and we shared three whole chickens plus fries, sweet potato fries, coleslaw and their delicious lettuce and avocado salad - a great way to finish a family get together weekend. I just wish that they took bookings, rather than being on a first come first served basis as it's always a concern that we might get there to find no tables available.

I've been here twice and and on both occasions had the whole chicken , for two to share. Comes with chips too.Delicious, succulent chicken and great value.Only downside is you can't book.

A revisit after several months away from the Chicken Shop. The first thing I noticed was the incorporation of Dirty Burger. This has been rolled out across the group with the exception of the Holborn branch.This visit was for lunch and it was surprisingly quiet for Saturday. That said the service was good as always - friendly, informal yet still attentive. No change on the food front either. In addition to the usual marinated chicken which was perfectly cooked as always was the welcome addition of the Dirty Burger or as we chose today the Dirty Bird. My mind set is that the Chicken Shop does chicken and it does it very well. I am not sure about the burgers (yet). A lot of the bigger chains such as GBK or Byron make known the provenance of their beef. Not so with Dirty Burger and as such it does not inspire me to try them but never say never! That said, the Dirty Bird - a buttermilk, deep fried chicken breast was really, really good. As for the bacon - well this was absolutely delicious. Thick sliced, smoked, streaky bacon cooked to perfection which literally melted in the mouth. With the marinated rotisserie chicken we had the crinkle cut fries, coleslaw, onion fries (made to order in front of you - the chef literally chopped the onions, battered and fried them right there!) and the oh so good butter lettuce and avocado salad. No room for puddings on this visit as totally stuffed. My suggestion is to sit at the counter if you can. See your food made before you and you can chat to the super friendly chefs. Have been dining at the Chicken Shop for about Two years. Staff used to be really professional .Not so now.Chips or at least the Potaoes ,were really good.Not so now .The biggest change for the worse is the unavailability of the Apple pie,they used to serve .This is what I looked forward to most, as this was an award winning Pie. This has now been replaced by a substandard Pie .Shame ,I wont be rushing back unless they start serving the original Pie again

We ate a whole chicken (between three) and all the sides . The chicken was delicious , juicy and flavoursome . The sweet potato fries were fantastic . The coleslaw is good and the avocado salad super. Corn on the cob is with garlic butter. Service was fast and efficient . We paid just under £60 with coffee etc and were very pleased with that -although there are plenty of cheaper places locally .

My brother recommended we try this restaurant and so we did. We ordered a whole chicken (he was hungry), fries and a salad with avocado. The chicken was delicious, the fries were good - although I don't think they were homemade and the salad had about half an avocado with a few leaves drizzled in dressing. I decided to try the apple pie for dessert and my brother the lemon tart. The entire pie was bought to the table and served directly from the dish it had been cooked in - a nice touch, however it was too sweet (and I have a very sweet tooth) and there was too much cinnamon added to it, so it was overpowering. I enjoyed the crust but not so much the filling unfortunately. Overall I enjoyed the meal but I do think the prices were excessive - £17 for a whole chicken and £5 for a few salad leaves with dressing was not worth it.

I love a quick stop foodie place that does what it says on the tin. Chicken shop/dirty burger does that with quality and speed. It is essentially burgers and chicken, but cooked to a top standard, served with a top standard and eaten with a big grin. When you walk in, it's like walking into an internal barbecue- brilliant straight away for me. Top wine, which of course helps, and helps the superb food slide down. Like I say, it does what it says on the tin!! It is fast food, but bloody lovely!

food was 45 min late - the burger was hard as a rock and the chicken was RAW. blood was coming out of it. called to complain - the manager was rude and told me to piss off (not in so many words) and slammed the phone down a disgraceful place with bad food and a rude people

The staff were attentive and friendly, and the decor inside is very cool. My friend loved her chicken ("way better than Nando's!"), however my burger was nothing exciting and had too much mustard in it. Asked for mayo with my chips and it was mustard mayo! The onion chips were, although not what expected, really delicious. Reading reviews now I wish we had stayed for dessert!

This is a real favourite haunt of mine. Love the chicken, always get a half with sweet potato fries and butter leaf salad. Simply delicious. The hot sauce is uber tasty but not for the faint hearted. I also very much enjoy the smoky sauce. Good fast service as well. Overall it's probably on par with KFC but the two are so different that it's hard to compare. I wish I was eating chicken right now, I might even start farming chicken just so I can cook and eat them every day. Yummy.

Simple menu. Good service, tasty chicken, yummy chips, great salad, sooooo baaaaad Apple Tart. Try staying away and not ordering it and go home feeling - what a stupid decision you made. You must have it.

Long long wait to place an order then wait for our food.Had to ask if we could order , then waited 45 minutes for food. Staff not very interested in us or our wait. They were more interested in preparing pots of mayonnaise for a party than serving the people in the restaurant. So disappointing as I had taken my kids for a treat and I only get an hour for lunch. What has happened to the service that used to be good ?

Simple concept, but very well executed. The chicken was great, and good sides to go with. The burgers are also worth a visit for. Will definitely be returning!

I decided to treat a visiting friend to a "nice" meal out, and having highly rated the service I'd previously experienced at the chicken shop in Holborn decided to take her to the chicken shop in Tooting. First of all, think twice before ordering juice here - you'll get the tinniest amount at the poorest quality. But what was more offensive was that the staff actually thought it was appropriate to serve my friend the last apple pie slice in the original pie container that would have contained all the other slices served to customers - and just added a scoop ice cream - Presentationally it looked like dog food or left overs (see picture attached).Quite frankly it was rude and offensive and for that reason alone, I will not be eating at this branch of the chicken shop and can't recommend it.

I went with my brother Tito and mum. Lovely meal , better than Nandos . Try the apple pie with icecream .delicious.

All I can say is get there early and yum! Great for a date night if you don't mind getting a bit messy, even better with friends!

I've had a few take aways from here and been very impressed the chicken is still juicy coming 30 minutes in a car, so I had to go in and try it for myself. OHHHH MY GOD, I ate until I couldnt any more, succulent chicken breast and legs and wings, cooking right in front of you/ They have a restaurant and another bit to sit down as soon as you walk in and you watch them cook it. The Smokey sauce is unbelievable and you can even buy it to take home and attempt to make yourself. Everything is perfect, they have also teamed up with Dirty Burger so my boyfriend and I got 2 burgers and a half a chicken to share, too much for most people but we are big eaters and it was unreal. The burger wasnt as good as my boyfriend had previously had there but i really enjoyed it.Lovely place, friendly staff, amazing food and unreal value for money - 2 burgers, half chicken, chips, 2 drinks = £32.00

We orders few times take away. Chicken dry, I have better in Nandos. Avocado salad is coming with lots of lettuce and half brown avocado with small tap of dressing not worth it to pay £6. The chicken much more expansive than Nandos, do not try burgers just waste of money, go for burger next door. I want be rushing back.

if you eat chicken, and like food experiences, there isn't a better experience than seeing all your food prepared in front of you on top of a big fire, like they do here. it's not easy to get a seat at the bar, but it's highly recommended. prices are pretty reasonable too. must do.

We went to the chicken shop shortly after it opened and again a few weeks ago.The menu is identitcal but the staff seem to have got worse unfortunately.You'd only go to this restaurant to have good roast/BBQ chicken but on our last visit we wern't even offered their trade-mark sauces to go with it.The staff seem more interested in discussing their social lives with each other rather than serving and the food isn't good enough to cover for this. I'd suggest getting the take-away instead.

Went here with friends on a Saturday night. Had to wait for a table, but we were aware it is a small place so we're prepared to wait. Was great to be able to see the chefs working away right in front of the bar seating area, while we waited. When we did get a table it was in the back part of the restaurant, which was very dark, with hardly any lighting. It took a while for someone to take our order, but the food didn't take too long to arrive afterwards. It was so dark, it was hard to distinguish where to cut the chicken from the bone, which I didn't enjoy. The food itself was merely ok, and in my opinion overpriced. It took ages for anyone to bring us the bill, even though we had asked 3 times. Overall I would say the food is ok, but the darkness and service put me off. I won't be going back I'm afraid, as this place was nothing special. Nando's is a much safer bet.

recently changed from the Chicken Shop to the Chicken Shop/Dirty Burger. Service has always been great, and have now lowered the prices. Better than nandos, more sociable and not as many kids as you would get in nandos.

We have eaten here or had many many take always since it opened and until today raved about it to friends.... We used to love this place!!Having returned from a long haul flight having eaten very little on last 24 hours to an empty fridge we ordered a whole chicken, 2 chips, one sweet potato, coleslaw and corn to cater for all the family. The chips were uncooked, the sweet corn was old and had sat around since lunch time, the chicken had also sat around and was dry and the coleslaw was poor. And all the special sauces, homemade mayonnaise which makes their cooking was missing and replaced with 3 small sachets of Hellmann mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup For all to share and all for £55!!!We has ordered via deliveroo at 5:15pm, but quickly called direct to see if they could send more chips and sweet corn (we had not tried the chicken or coleslaw at this stage) the manager could not care less said sorry would let chefs know and they had run out of all sauces and mayonnaise??? Bizarre I explained we had jet lagged hungry small children and no food and could they send replacement chips and corn and the answer was no to call deliveroo to be refunded those items. Again I said but I want more or I can just feed my kids chicken and coleslaw again no. Luckily deliveroo refunded the whole delivery as I found some frozen pasta sauce for the kids and we ate a tiny amount of chicken and coleslaw before binning the rest. This is simple easy food to cook so the fact they have chefs who care so little about the food they are cooking or people they are serving and managers who could not care less tells me not to bother. Tooting has become a Mecca for food recently so plenty more choice. My advise go else where.....anywhere is better than this

The chicken is spit roasted rather than grilled. moist and tasty. I'm not a huge apple pie fan but there's is good, they bring out the whole pie and cut you a massive slice with ice cream, Daaang its nice

Tooting's branch of this famous little chain of chicken-only restaurants. The decor is eclectic, the staff helpful and the food excellent. Very good value when you consider that we were encouraged by the waiter to not have a main course each, and we were still able to take a bit of the delicious chicken home with us for later! Well recommended, if you like chicken.

Great little place with a simple menu of chicken and chips with a few sides.The chicken is delicious though and the fries nice too although they re frozen so quite a few came out over cooked and hard. The coleslaw is wonderful and I've yet to try the corn on the cob but will do next time.The wine is far too expensive for what it is. Probably the most expensive in the local area which is a shame.

Beautifully cooked chicken with great side options for a more mature feel than other chicken restaurants!! No teenagers on tinder dates with refill soft drinks here! Staff are lovely and food is gorgeous. The salad will surprise you!

Very easy going and friendly, and even more if you happen to stay late.The food is simple and tasty, have a chat with the machete-man and he'll be extra generous with your portion. Choose your time wisely as it can get very busy. Our favorite place in Tooting Broadway

Went here tonight for my dinner, I've drove past loads and always wanted to go in. Chicken was amazing. Main was great. Pudding wasn't. My 5 year old ordered ice cream and cake but it was full of nuts. No mention of this anywhere. She didn't eat it as she doesn't like nuts. Apart from that we had a fab night.

A wonderful little find. The chicken is cooked over charcoal and that really makes a difference. Thick cut wooden benches. Always someone to have a chat to even fairly late at night. The chickens are not your usual cheapo cheapo emaciated tasteless nonsense. they are "Large" chickens in the Sainsbury's kind of way. Really moist and tender. You will make a mess with your fingers so don't wear your best cloths.The chickens are well priced but the sides and drinks are very dear and I really didn't like the chips... but the chicken was wonderful. I went at gone 11pm and even though they were nearly closing they were happy and attentive. Nice atmosphere as well.

I'd heard great things about this place, and it was always busy when I walked past, so was excited to finally visit. I was left disappointed though - chicken was ok, bit dry and nothing special, and the chips could only be described as 'sweaty' - damp and limp and not very exciting. When the bill came, I was surprised at the price, and felt overcharged for what we actually got. Having said that, the environment is quite nice, if a little dark and cramped, and the service was great if a little slow. Probably wouldn't go again despite all the hype.

The menu is very simple - chicken and a choice of sides. The chicken is nice but very expensive for what it is. I would have much preferred to pay less at Nando's with a lot more variety. I paid £19 for a whole chicken. I wouldn't go back here

Chicken Shop has a simple menu but does it well. You have a choice of quarter, half and whole chicken and if you don't like meat off the bone you should go elsewhere. Sides are also limited to fries, slaw or salad and desserts apple pie, chocolate brownie and meringue (this being the only item I wouldn't order again but I'm not a huge fan anyways). Chicken is far superior to the likes of Nando's and similar restaurants, the tenderness of the white meat and size of bird is a giveaway. You pay a bit extra but for me it's a no contest as at Nando's I have to order a whole chicken to be full and they are very dry usually.Rustic, cabin style interior match the theme of the restaurant. Generally good service once seated, expect to wait a bit if you go after 7-8 pm though we were a party of 10 and were eating within 30-40mins of arriving.Please note: This is a review specifically for Tooting. I have been to the Kentish Town one several times and the experience is not as good. Service is slow and chaotic, and the chicken was way too salty so I'd have to score the Kentish one lower.

It was my first time visiting Chicken Shop Tooting branch and I enjoyed my overall experience. Both great food and service - although the temperature of the chicken when it arrived was warm and not hot as expected, which was a bit disappointing considering it's cooked on a spit fire, but still very tasty nonetheless. I did enjoy all the other sides including the Avocado Salad, Corn on the Cob, Chips and especially the Coleslaw as it had a good crunch to it. I also had the Chocolate Brownie for dessert which was super indulgent. The restaurant itself was a little small and can imagine during peek times would be very busy, so best to go early. Overall I would recommend a visit and I would most probably return to try out the Apple Pie next time round!

As others have said, this is a posh Nandos with cocktails. Spit roast chickens are substantial with fries and corn. We found very nice service and good food. Will be back

Chicken Shop is the best......well yeah chicken shop in London you guessed. They sell pretty much only chicken and a few sides besides a short selection of desserts but everything is delicious. The chicken is juicy and the fries always crispy. Service is always very good, price tend to be a bit higher but the quality is also better than the average chicken shop.

Chicken shop is one of my favorite chicken places in London.They are not cheap but the chicken and all the few items on their short menu are delicious. Try the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream

The service and the meal was amazing. The restaurant was busy but the service was quickly and the staff was very friendly:). The chicken was amazing and I love your Coleslaw and ur Apple pie.

The Chicken Shop ticks the box you would expect but few others as well. The star of the show is the chicken with delicious seasoning, but I have it on good authority the avocado salad is very tasty. If heat is your thing the hot sauce is a good accompaniment to the savoury dishes although I have seen the reaction of an unwitting none spice enthusiast and I'm sure it lead to a water shortage, for people with out fire retardant tongues the barbecue sauce is very tasty. Desserts wise, there are 3 doors to knock on but I am very loyal to the apple pie. This is a great venue for a quick meal after work or a lunch and if you are not in the mood to cook but need the solace of your own home then takeaway is an option.

We arrived late on Sunday afternoon and it was literally dead. Staff were very welcoming. We both ordered the quarter chicken with butter lettuce and avocado salad and chips. It was just enough for me but my partner had to order another quarter chicken. The chicken was cooked to perfection. We finished off with home made apple pie which we were going to share but couldn't decide between ice cream or cream so we had both! Nothing was too much trouble. I will certainly be back, hopefully it'll be busier the next time.

Amazing chicken! A league above Nandos, and it is a real size chicken, place looks very nice too, so fully recommended for anyone.

Heard about this from a friend and we dropped in for lunch and would definitely go back again. The team do the simple things very well and are very helpful and friendly. Ah, the chicken, juicy and full of flavour, great fries and good salads in a rustic basic, but clean setting and the cloakrooms are very clean, always a good sign!

This is one of my most favourite places on Tooting High Street. Free range chicken cooked on a spit roast, delicious sides and the closest you could ever get to mum's apple pie. I try to introduce everyone to this place when they are visiting. In fact I ended up going 2 days in a row and it still didn't disappoint.

The Chicken Shop have absolutely nailed this one. From the exterior decor to the food, every detail you feel is accounted for and it ultimately provides a great experience. We went in here and sat at the bar, we could feel the heat from the fire roasting the chickens and got the full experience as the chef smacked each chicken into quarters before bunging it into a bowl to take off to another happy customer. The fries, the coleslaw, the corn, the chicken - it's all great. I would come all the time but it is quite expensive - you can easily pay over £20 if you have a drink...

After going to the holborn branch, which was underground so lacked natural light, tooting was much better. The sight of the fire grilling the chicken is attractive and you can sit at the window watching the world go by. But the best place to sit is around the fire and watch the staff, the food, the service and life. Even if you are vegetarian the chips are tasty and the avocado salad are simple but satisfying. But you're really here for the star attraction - the chicken is divine - moist, moreish and it's worth sharing a whole chicken and take it apart and eat with gusto. Apple pie is made there and tastes homemade. Here it's all about taking it back to the basics and do it well so you don't require anything else.

Been here a few times now and every time, chicken shop never fails to impress. The chicken is juicy and full of flavour from their unique marinade and cooking style. The lettuce and avocado salad is to die for as is the crinkle cut chips with house made aioli (best ever). The apple pie is definitely in the top 3 I've ever had and the ice-cream they serve it with is THE BEST ice-cream ever; although you only get one scoop. Service here is fantastic, staff are very attentive and friendly and make your visit enjoyable. Cannot wait to go back again. Planning it as we speak

Beautiful spit charcoal roast juicy chicken that tastes of smoked paprika, garlic and lemon...no nonsense beer, wine and cocktails...great sides and sauces...and good service...and for a similar ball park price as that more famous national grilled chicken chain. What's not to like, seriously?!

Hi AllAs I live local we went there after an evening having a few drinks as we both like chicken and have seen how busy this resturant is it seamend like a good place. It was emptying out but we were told it is no problem to serve us so ordered a chicken with sides I had one mouthful of the Chicken and would not eat no mor as very dry we asked for the bill and when it come we mentioned how dry the Chicken was where from her other hand she produced a bill with the Chicken taken of I kid you not she bought 2 bills so if we complained could produce the other bill. Will not go back there.

We went there with my husband and my mum for a meal. Very cosy and warming atmosphere and the smell of burning logs! We were sitting by the bar where we could see fire under the chicken which was nice and a bit different. There is not much choice in the menu but what we ordered was really good. Place is slightly overpriced but it doesn't heart you when you pay. Very nice and polite staff. Food really good and fresh. Portions are big! Recommended

We went here on a Friday evening and were told the maximum seating on a Friday evening is an hour, which was fair enough. However I was rushed from start to end in this establishment, which ruined my experience. The chicken is very good, tasty and juicy. The sides are sizable, however the prices are steep. Once service is added it's an expensive night out. The waiters constantly bombard and harass you in order to increase table turnover, and this tainted our experience. Disappointing!

I get it, this is all about the chicken. Of course it's called 'Chicken Shop.' The chicken tasted great. We ordered the whole chicken with chips and corn. With a couple of drinks this came to £37 (service charge included). It would be nice though if there was some sort of bread option as well so that there is an alternative to chips. That's my only criticism. Your choice here is out of chips, coleslaw or corn. The staff were very friendly. They had a high chair for my daughter and provided her with some colouring crayons and paper. The food was served quickly and there's a cosy atmosphere. I thought the last place that Tooting needed (or any other part of London for that matter) was another place serving chicken, however, this place does have a little bit of a niche. I say little. It's more personal and tastier in my opinion than Nando's, more expensive and unique but with less choices e.g. no choice in how the chicken is marinated, less sauces and less choice of sides.I would definitely come back here again because the chicken tasted great!

The menu just includes chicken on the bone whether it's a quarter, half or a whole one plus a few sides. Although it's a basic menu the taste of the chicken is very good and the marinade/rub is different to the usual. It's not the cheapest of chickens but we enjoyed our food so didn't mind the price. They offer a quick service because the chickens are continuously being cooked on the spit roast.

The food in this little establishment is beyond compare. For such a simple concept, the chicken is unbelievably tender and full of flavour and spices. It is beyond compare in the popular chicken restaurants of this time. Even the sides have upped their game, with coleslaw that is so fresh and crunchy and fries so full of flavour. I cannot recommend the food and the overall experience enough!The recent reviews regarding price at the Chicken Shop seem a little unfounded to me considering that comparing the price of the food against other London restaurants, it comes out the same, if not cheaper - let us think of Nandos, where you would certainly be paying a similar price for food that is not quite so great. Whilst it is true that restaurants in Tooting are comparatively cheaper, it is worth considering the competitive climate of London as a whole and how this price is actually just an average price for a city restaurant and not worth complaining about.

Service is great and the food is cooked perfectly. Really tender chicken and a really great atmosphere. Love the chips and the butter lettuce and avocado salad. Only thing is the get there quick if you want to be seated straight away. The wait can be quite a while but we put our name down and went for a drink across the road. Great evening

We have been meaning to visit here for ages, and we finally got around to it.As this is a Chicken shop, you unsurprisingly can purchase mostly chicken.The chicken is delicious, well cooked and arrived very quickly. We made the mistake of ordering a bowl of crinkle fries each, to be honest you could probably share a bowl between two people..A little expensive, but worth it, and (I like this a lot) a gratuity is added onto your bill, so no need to worry about leaving a tip,

I've been to literally every restaurant in the Tooting area. This has been on my list for a while, mainly because of the sparkling reviews I've heard of it from others. So before going in, I look at the menu from outside and think "hmm... double the price of Nando's, this better be worth it" I'm seated by an unfriendly waitress who doesn't seem interested to be there at all, not even given a menu, had to ask to be served... I opted for the half chicken, 'crinkle chips' and 'coleslaw' with a diet coke (all x2, I was with a friend) I feel really awful for betraying my loyalty to Nando's. The chicken was nothing special, at all. Matter of fact - I think I would compare this chicken to the stuff you get from Sainsbury's.... Even Chicken Cottage's half chicken has more flavour than this flavourless rubbish.The only saving grace, flavour wise, was the lemon they give with it... The chips were so crinkly they deserved to be in a bag with 'Walkers' written on the outside of it.THEN... The bill arrives @43 for 2 people - a 12.5% service charge was added... For what?! It doesn't say this anywhere in the restaurant (that I can see)Overall...Way way WAYYY too expensive.ABYSMAL, AVOID, GO TO NANDO'S, THIS IS JUST OVERHYPED RUBBISH!

I've nothing against the sort of cuisine for which Tooting is justifiably famous, namely curry served in a cafe on a formica table, which, at its best, represents South Indian cuisine at great value for money. Perhaps it's a sign of Tooting's slow gentrification that all the latest openings have been places serving Mediterranean cuisine, French tartines, and now, a branch of Chicken Shop serving from a behind a rustic wooden bar, rotisserie roasted chicken with sides and not much else. The same food served in a Central London basement in Holborn didn't stand out amidst much glitzy opposition, but in Tooting feels it's being served in much more of a destination. I chose a half chicken and crinkly fries, both of which I adjudged exceptional. No room for a dessert such as a slice of one of the huge apple pies lying on the counter. But a bottle of Camden Helles went down well. With an espresso, though, not much change from £25. What might seem a moderate price in Holborn seems a bit steep by Tooting standards.

My girlfriend and I live on the same road as this restaurant.We have always had a good experience here.The food is basic but lovely at the same time and is always an easy option when you cant be bothered to cook.I would highly reccomend this place for an evening meal.

Pros:- Scrumptious chicken- Simple menu- Good sides- Lovely cocktails- Proper hearty desserts!Cons:- The queue! It's too popular!Overall: I'll continue to eat here & recommend

Lovely decor, great great food (if you love chicken) only downside is you have to queue to get in, but it is worth the wait,
