Chesca’s by the River in Broadland

Arrived at 13.50 to eat, site states food up until 2pm, menus still on the tables. Owner ? manager (with no business sense at all) refused to serve us as he had a ‘backlog’ in the kitchen and was rude to myself and my husband. There is a way to talk to customers and it is not that way. We would have spent at least £50 and would have been prepared to wait for the food 🤷‍♀️ disappointing.

Stunning breakfast, quick service, lovely staff.

I had a coffee and it was cold , plus very bitter, I told the barista about it so he poured me another from the same machine , was still cold and disgusting , so I just left it there

My wife and I were moored up at Reedham and decided to pop into cannells by the river. I ordered a beef and onion pie and mash. My wife ordered the giant Yorkshire pudding with chicken. My minced beef and onion pie turned out to be a steak pie which I wasn't disappointed by but was surprised and my wife enjoyed her giant Yorkshire pudding with chicken but, we were however very disappointed with the attitude from the man who took our order and seemed to be in charge. Our food was served by a young lady who was very pleasant but his attitude was rather robotic and lacking character to top this off the next day whilst we were getting ready to leave reedham and he was getting ready to open. He was telling the broads authority Ranger how he wasn't, Looking forward to today and looking after his entitled customers. Perhaps he should have said that a little quieter.

A beautiful spot, ably complemented with superb coffee and a delicious pork pie with chilli.

What a wonderful place and a credit to the owners Right on the water front and food to die for so fresh attracted the best clientèle had a chat to most of them great business 😀

I really like Cannells. It's a great location with lovely views over the River Yare which really can't be beaten in many places in Norfolk. The staff are friendly and there's a good menu choice with the food being skillfully cooked and presented. I travel from Suffolk on a motorbike, using the nearby Reedham Ferry which just adds to the enjoyment of visiting. Highly recommended.

We were staying at a Riverside Lodge at St Olives, we visited Reedham by boat. We had one of the best breakfasts on the Norfolk Broads at Cannells. Everything was quality and cooked perfectly. Its not often i give a 10/10 rating, but on this occasion this breakfast deserved it. We were a family of 4 and we all agreed its the best ! The shop has loads of items for sale, this really is a great quality shop / cafe to visit. It is also air conditioned, which will be lovely in the heat of the summer.

Twice we have called in 15-20 mins before closing for an ice cream but they have said they have finished serving. Both times we would have bought more things. Shame they don’t stick to the advertised opening times.

Fantastic little spot, right on the river.

The two vegan options are Brick pizza and cooked breakfast, which is fine. Had to send my pizza back as it was only just defrosted and luke warm, and was still not great when it came back. Also, guys, don't put passive aggressive notes about skid marks in your loos. Other people's toilet mess isn't imagery I want put in my head when I'm waiting for my food. I'm surprised I have to say that really. There's more polite ways to phrase it.

Wow what a great place. Food is excellent . I had full English and everything was obviously fresh and local . Wife had jacket and was nice and hot and good size. Their retail part was great with a whole wall of Gins and Vodkas and rum. Nice selection of chutneys etc. Would guess it gets rammed in season . Dog friendly too.

SHOCKING behaviour towards mothers and children. As the mother of three small children I have serious concerns about what I have been told from numerous people now about the owner and his verbal abuse and aggressive manner towards children! I cannot understand why this has not been looked into further by trading standards! I have visited before and had been made to feel very uncomfortable. I found the same intimidation and extreme aggravation by the owner to my children. From the moment we walked in, it was clear the owner was extremely descrimanatory towards young children. I was too self conscious before to write a review as the owner is extremely intimidating but now I know I was right in my experience I feel it compelled to write about my experience. I suggest the owner refrains from replying with arrogance and excuses for his behaviour as it's finally coming to light that this establishment is discriminating against young children and their parents in an apparent local family village.

The staff tend to start clearing up and spraying tables a good half hour before closing time, making it uncomfortable. Also, the coffee is not good, no crema and tastes fruity.

Lovely food and interesting products to but.

We planned a visit this weekend with the children and wow, what a find. The menu has great choice and the quality of the food was to a very high standard. Great service, food was served quickly (great with the kids) and the staff were friendly. We will be back!

Stopped here for breakfast lovely setting by the river, dog friendly, very friendly staff could not fault the food it was cooked to perfection and nicely presented.

As I was up so early for a walk, we decided breakfast afterwards was essential. And there's only one place for Sunday breakfast - Cannells 😋 Absolutely delicious as always.

Don't believe the opening times. For 4 read 3. Wouldn't even do a coffee at 3.15. Can't need the business that badly. The kind of part timers that make this country what it is. Didn't look like we missed much anyway.

What a lovely place to eat staff we're very friendly and welcoming. Lots of choice on the menu. Hidden treasure with lots of treats to buy. The quiche & the sausage rolls hand made we're delicious too. The food was reasonably priced & good quality. We'll definitely be returning.

They sell H&J ice cream......fantastic! Good sized scoops and a friendly service Excellent.

Absolutely wonderful little place. Best breakfast we have ever had and gluten free wasn't a problem and also delicious. The owners are wonderful very down to earth and lovely people. Cannot recommend enough.

Brilliant little tea shop, delicious breakfast, brought home a very tasty homemade scotch egg. Looking forward to the next visit. revisited recently but sadly didn't enjoy the experience as much, seating arrangement has been altered since our last visit and it felt somewhat cramped, also felt rather chilly and draughty. Food is still lovely but a pity that we didn't feel comfortable enough to enjoy it.

Tasty breakfast, my husband reckons its the best black pudding he's ever had. We also had Scotch egg, sausage roll, cheese straw and various cakes to take away. All of which were delicious. All the staff were friendly and efficient, would definitely return

First visit today, and I should have done it sooner. Large full English was served very hot made with quality ingredients. Good quality coffee and a very good cold selection of quiche and pastries. Also, a very wide varied selection of locally sourced small business products like jams, sauces, relish, honey, etc. Seating outside provides Riverside views of the yare. Plenty of parking opposite.

We visited this establishment 45 minutes prior to the advertised closing. When we looked to buy food and drinks we were informed he was about to close . My young daughter wanted to urgently use the toilet but it was barricaded, the owner happily told us to walk to the other side of the village. Was quite shocked, so left and spent our money in two other establishments in the village.

Had a lovely cup of coffee right by the Riverside in Reedham and doggie friendly too hosts were great.

Glad we made the 30 mins drive as such an amazing lunch and farm shop. Good variety of alternative milks which was a god send. Farm shop had a lovely selection of local produced foods.

We bought a pack of sausages and bacon yesterday. Turns out the sausages went out of date on the same day. Put them in the fridge to have for a BBQ today and they have already gone off. This is really unacceptable. Such a shame.

Excellent coffee and food on the riverbank. Much of food is made on site and is delicious. Good Gluten Free selection and dog friendly too. What more could you want?

We stopped here for a warm up coffee, able sit outside under a canopy with our dog and the bouncers kept us in check! Really friendly staff and good coffee.

Had a great locally sourced large breakfast. Quality was fantastic, and the service was second to none. Will definitely be coming back.

Absolutely delicious! The cooked breakfast was very tasty and filling. The children had hot chocolate with pain au chocolat's for breakfast, again this was very yummy according to our 8 and 11 year old! Best of all, this cafe has a wonderful view of the ducks and boats, as well as it having a lovely little shop inside to get your gifts or bits and bobs you need. It was very clean and tidy, including the toilets, which is an extra bonus. The staff were happy to have a chat with you and very attentive too! All in all, it's a fabulous visit, we will be back!

By far the best breakfast on the Norfolk broads... And down too earth staff...

I came here with a friend during week for a breakfast, I have never been here before but was highly recommended by the friend. Unfortunately the experience we had this day was not the greatest. We had 2 full English breakfast when arrived to our table the sausages were extremely other done and dry, toast was also burnt my friend pop her head in and mention this and they offered to do some more sauces and toast unfortunately they didn’t offer to keep the breakfast warm and was then cold by the time the replacements come out. Both staff pop out to either get a delivery or serve someone out side, but did not check in on us if all as ok and if we needed anything else. This was a first time visit for myself but unfortunately would be the last such a shame as a beautiful location it’s self with beautiful scenery.

Popped here for breakfast with a friend and sat outside. Staff were friendly and helpful on ordering. We ordered 2 cooked full English breakfasts, sadly the sausages were extremely overcooked, dry on the inside and hard and the toast was burnt. I popped my head inside to let them know and was told they'd do some new sausages and toast. Baring in mind we are sat outside (I'm clinically vulnerable) the rest of our food was getting cold and no offer to keep it warm. Whilst waiting for the sausages and toast i realised that the bacon was smoked but it doesn't state this on the menu. Had I been aware, I'd have skipped the bacon as unfortunately I don't like smoked. However I'm sure others would have loved it, so just my personal taste. I did ask the waitress when she brought the sausages out to our cold remaining breakfast about the bacon explaining I didn't eat smoked and had it stated, I'd have not ordered it. I'd popped the bacon and burnt sausages along with the burnt toast onto a plate, there was no apology, she just explained that they only use smoked bacon and took it away. The fried eggs were snotty, which normally I'd have been ok with and just removed the uncooked bit, but by now we were really disappointed and it was cold having waited for the replacements. The mushroom was soaked and dripping with oil too. We waited a further 40 minutes waiting for the staff to check in on us, or to at least remove our plates. They had a delivery, walked out to the van seen our plates qnd went back inside and closed the door. The breakfast was sadly a disappointment after eating here previously and it been lovely, but the reason for my 1 star is how it was handled and the lack of customer service and sheer ignorance. I walked away extremely slowly, and once they thought we had gone out of sight only then did they come out to clear our plates. Sadly we will not be returning and neither would I recommend. Such a shame.

Quirky cafe well worth the visit great all day breakfast could recommend

Horrible coffee coming from a cafe that roasts their own beans. Owner took it personally when I mentioned the flat white ordered was diluted and tasteless. Responded rudely if I wanted another shot added. Disappointing service seeing I visited the place having read positive reviews.

Not kid-friendly, owner has zero understanding and tolerance for kids in the cafe. Best to sit outside if you have kids. Coffee tasted like it was from an instant coffee machine even though beans are brewed in-house. Came in with high hopes but left greatly disappointed. Very unfortunate.

Great little waterside cafe on the Norfolk Broads at Reedham

We stopped for coffees, ice-creams and drinks during our dog walk (also purchased a lovely bottle of Norfolk Gin in the shop) will definitely be back during our camping break for the (very reasonably priced) cooked breakfast! The owner, Steve, came out and gave us some great recommendations for dog walks and he also had treats for the dogs (plus cooled water and dog bowls, poo bags and 'pupsicles' were also on offer).....very dog (& people 😀) friendly...... Give them a visit 👍🏻 we'll definitely be returning!

What an absolute treat!! Just visited this little gem of a place for the first time and what a treat. A superb full English breakfast and THE best eggs Benedict with quality local ham, delicious hollandaise and eggs poached to perfection. wonderful deli packed with homemade and local treats plus charming staff too, can’t recommend highly enough.

Staff were super friendly, had a super nice breakfast which was cooked to perfection, can even buy eggs and fresh sausages and bacon, milk and other bits there. Also a fresh coffee machine like I've never seen for coffee enthusiasts. Lovely river views, I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back

We stopped of at this little gem while on a boating holiday The cafe/shop was well above you normal and just amazing in and outside We had the full English and it turned out to be the best ever breakfast The presentation the quality the friendly staff was outstanding and will stay with me for ever as one of the best ever experiences Highly recommend a visit 🥇

What a lovely place we was made to feel at home the minute we went though the door. Steve was wonderful answering our questions about the delicious scones. Had full English today was delicious. Going back to stock up before going home soon.

Have just had one of the best breakfasts I have eaten. We had two large breakfasts, one small and a toast and jam. The food was amazing, well cooked, very tasty and very satisfying. The coffees were perfect and served in lovely cups. The produce used was obviously first class. The service was spot on and the place was unique. Would definitely recommend and would travel a longway to sample again.

Brilliant little place, food was really good. Service was excellent too. Tables are set into the shop, which is different and we liked it. The fresh produce was excellent with a massive selection. It's a good job I didn't take the car !
