Food is okay. Decent pricing. They use same masala gravy for many things.. so repetitive taste comes. Very spicy sometimes.. good behaviour from staffs.. very pleasant ladies and helpful all the time.

I recently dined at your restaurant and wanted to share my feedback. While the food was enjoyable, I had a disappointing experience with the service provided by one of the staff members. I intended to avail of a takeaway deal but was charged a higher price. When I inquired, the explanation given was not satisfactory. I was told that since my food had already been packed, no amendments could be made—even though I had not yet paid my bill. A certain level of flexibility in accommodating customer needs would have been appreciated. Additionally, the takeaway packaging provided was of poor quality, as the cover tore before I could even take it home. I also requested a customised menu item (a single vada), but my request was declined without much consideration. I understand that some staff members may be working part-time while balancing university commitments, and I appreciate their efforts. However, a stronger focus on customer service, attentiveness, and adaptability would enhance the overall dining experience. I hope my feedback helps in improving future service, and I look forward to a better experience next time.

So, I needed matka kulfi and this place sells matka kulfi. I checked on Google and this place has their opening timings written on Google as 10.00 am on Sunday, so I reached at the resturant at 11 15 am only to b told that they can't give me matka kulfi because it's only opened for breakfast? But, matka kulfi isn't a breakfast item or lunch item. It's just a dessert. Also, it's not mentioned anywhere that they don't accept cards. So, because I didn't have cash, I asked if I can order online and pay online and then can I get the stuff, she said yes ok. Then when I ordered through just eat and paid extra for the kulfi, because price at store is £3.75 & online it's £4.85!! On top of that I had to pay £0.50 as service charge. Then, lady staff told me that earliest collection will b at 12.15! It's a dessert!! She just had to open the freezer take the stuff out put it in a bag and give it to me.. I have paid £5 extra by now! She didn't have to make it... She didn't have to get a delivery driver to get the delivery done!!? So why the wait?? Anyways, finally after a frustrating experience and waiting for 15 odd min she gave me the kulfi. Such an irritating experience. Sorry to say, this has put me off this place, completely!!

Disappointed with the Mutton Chukka – Poor Quality and Flavor Visited Chennai Dosa Wolverhampton and ordered the Mutton Chukka, expecting a rich, flavorful dish. Unfortunately, it looked like it had been reheated for too long in the microwave—dry, tough, and lacking any real depth of flavor. The quality was far below expectations, and it was a real letdown. I wouldn’t recommend this dish, and based on this experience, I wouldn’t return. The management really needs to pay closer attention to what’s coming out of the kitchen before serving it to customers.

Well being honest, we waited so long for the starter that was chilli panner and masala chips when it turned out up masala chips was cold, we were so disappointed with that. However, main course was really good, Dosa was our first try, food was really nice that turned out disappointed to happiness. The lady on front was really friendly she explained us about the Dosa and chutney we got. I would definitely try it again.

I’ve been disappointed with the quality of food and service lately. The sambar that came with the dosa was stale and had an unpleasant stench. We had ordered masala dosa but received the wrong order instead. Mistakes happen, but this isn’t the first time—burnt dosas and incorrect orders have become a pattern with consecutive deliveries. It’s frustrating to receive food that’s not only incorrect but also poorly prepared.

FEBRUARY 2025 UPDATE The new frontend trio, Roja, Shruti and Vaishali, are doing a fab job managing the reception and serving. And Chef Kutty makes the best chicken biryani. They're welcoming and always greet with a smile. They provide a fast service and genuinely want to provide a good customer service. Many thanks Niraj APRIL 2024 We dine here regularly. Idli sambar and chicken biryani are our usuals, both of which are the tastiest in the area. Jalal uncle, Ubai uncle and all the chefs are very friendly and welcoming. Worst meal I’ve had in a long time. I asked if tandoori chicken was on the bone girl said no 1/2 a chicken was 2 breasts, came as 2 chicken legs not half a chicken and on the bone. Ordered a chicken biriyani. Came to eat it buried in the rice chicken was big chunks still on the bone. Bits of bone loose in the rice, along with seasoning sticks etc - my husbands curry wasn’t nice either. £27 and it nearly all went in the bin.

First time visit and we Loved the food and the service. Highly recommend to everyone to visit atleast once.

Extremely long wait time for the food to then be cold. Wasn’t even that busy but food still took ages and wasn’t worth it. Oiliest and coldest dosa I’ve ever had- it was so oily it was just stuck to the plate. Only gave us naan once our curries were cold?? They also don’t have heating on and the weather is cold so it was kind of uncomfortable. The staff are nice though, and I’ve been here before and the starters are usually nice as well.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. A special mention to Vishali and the two other wonderful girls who greeted us with bright smiles and provided excellent service. Their hospitality made our experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended

As a chain restaurant, it is very surprising that they accept only cash payments.

Food good, but worst delivery experience ever with poor new delivery man being accused of stealing the food he’d delivered to me. I had to have four different phone calls to try & sort this out while I’m trying and failing to enjoy my dinner. No apology from the restaurant whatsoever. Never will I order from these people again.

I placed an online order with your Wolverhampton branch about an hour ago and arrived at the given pickup time, expecting my order to be ready. However, I was told it would take an additional 30 minutes. To make matters worse, the management at the branch was unprofessional and didn’t treat me well when I raised my concerns. This level of service and lack of customer care is completely unacceptable. If there’s a delay, it should be communicated in advance to avoid wasting customers' time, and staff should handle such situations politely and respectfully. This experience has left a very bad impression, and I hope you’ll take serious steps to improve the service and management at this branch. Your customers deserve much better

First time visit here with the family. My wife enjoyed her Masala dosa, my dosa fries were over fried. The idli starter was very spicy hot (Manchurian sauce). The lamb and meat curries were a bit spicy too,a nice thick gravy but very little meat. Mushroom rice was excellent. Hadn't realised they don't serve alcohol or allow you take your own in. So I ended up drinking tap water as the non alcoholic drinks were all to sweet and sugary for my liking. The mains we ordered did arrive at different times. Other disappointment is they only take Cash. I was signposted to the cash point round the corner, luckily we managed to scrape the bill amount between us in cash. Always leave you with a suspicion when businesses are cash only.

Staff were charming but I rang in advance to ask if they had gluten free options. They said yes, but when I got there they said they had no gluten free options on the entire menu. The waitress also said she didn’t know what gluten was and there was no allergen menu, so it would be good if they could do some training on that and have menus available.

Food delivered 45mins later than advised. I called the restaurant to confirm the food will be hot, and was told the food was given to driver freshly cooked. Food arrived cold. Called restaurant to complain and was told food was made in advance, but driver picked it up late, and also weather is cold. So the fact that the food was cooked almost an hour before the driver came was not the issue??? Waste of time and money. Bad experience once again at this place.

Went to Chennai Dosa today. Staff is so unfriendly and seemed unsupportive. Very unclean plates with stains over the corners. It’s a cash only store which is so annoying. They used to have friendly staff earlier but recent staff are so disagreeable. Food was just OK but NO hygiene. Not recommended.

Nice, authentic, tranquil place for an afternoon lunch, dishes are served hot with medium spices, they is plenty for one person. We washed it down with the Chennai coffee, although nice, it came in a small cup., but this did not deter us.

As we are new to the Wolverhampton town we don't know much about the food catering services here. So we contacted Chennai Dosa-Wolverhampton catering service for my Baby Shower food delivery. After the initial conversation, we wanted to update our menu couple of times and requested for their best quote. Being helpful was far, the guy name Raj has been very rude to us over the phone and extremely verbally abusive because of the above reasons. He doesn't listen to people, he yells and doesn't know any maner to talk to the potential customers. I never had any such worst experience of telephonic conversation with any catering or any other food delivery services ever. Neither in India nor in UK. Never ever recommended! 😑

Hi, I had ordered mutton curry as take away. I could hardly find some very small chunks of mutton. It's filled with onions, gravy and capsicum. Last time I ordered chilly chicken and it contained mostly capsicum garnished with some chicken cubes 😀. Now I understood this is the usual practice followed by this restaurant. I have learned my lesson 😞

Went to try biryani and chettinad curry. The biryani portion was big and the chettinad curry was spicy as wanted. And the garlic naan was fresh unlike any other restaurant Even the service was quick and staff was friendly

So wanted a masala dosa and wanted to place order over the phone rang up was told they don't take orders over the phone and place order online which is ridiculous if they wanted they could have taken the order but they didn't want to so ordered at the cape hill branch!

The service was extremely slow, primarily due to the lack of sufficient staff. Only two people were managing all the tables, which resulted in long delays for everything—from getting the menu to placing the order. Additionally, they only accept cash, which was inconvenient. To make matters worse, one dish was undercooked. When we complained, they replaced it, but the replacement was exactly the same. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. The management needs to address these issues if they want to improve customer satisfaction.

I dined at Chennai Dosa in Wolverhampton twice, hoping for an authentic experience, but unfortunately, I left disappointed both times. During my first visit, the sambar didn't quite meet expectations, lacking the depth of flavor I was hoping for. On my second visit, we ordered the family dosa, which arrived slightly burnt. While I understand occasional kitchen mishaps, I was more let down by the service, which felt inattentive. Additionally, the restaurant only accepts cash, which can be inconvenient. I ordered the veg set meal on both occasions, and each time, the "appalam" was missing—an important component of a traditional veg meal. Overall, I was not entirely happy with the experience, and I would hesitate to recommend this location. I hope the team can work on improving both food quality and service for a better dining experience in the future.

I came in at 9.30 ordered straight away, they brought out my food at 10.10 and it was wrong, brought out the right dish without the rice, in the end I walked out, I ordered a strawberry milkshake at 9.30 still no where to be seen, said they were short staffed, dont accept more walk ins if your short staffed such a shame as food smelt so good but I have work in the morning and eating at 11pm isnt what I wanted

I’ve been a regular at Chennai Dosa with my family, usually enjoying their delicious South Indian dishes. However, during my recent visit, I decided to try the falooda dessert and was disappointed. It didn’t taste fresh, and after checking with the staff, I learned that some ingredients are sourced externally, which may have affected the quality. Desserts are typically a sweet end to a meal, but this experience was underwhelming. While the main dishes remain enjoyable, I hope they can improve the quality of their desserts for a more consistent dining experience.

Well, this is the Indian restaurant I have been looking for, for years! Real Indian food, it's absolutely fantastic! I don't understand half of the menu, but every time I go, I get help from the amazing staff there, and try something new to me each time, and every time it's a delight to my taste buds. I can't recommend this place enough, I love it, and can't wait to go there again soon. Thank you so much for such a beautiful food experience each and every time. Mark

It’s a slay for me There’s a great of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The service was very friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this restaurant as the food is authentic.

I am just tasting the chicken biriyani right now .. and it tastes so bland and terrible .. it used to be so good few months back .. now it's so bad...

First time trying the food from here. Ordered at 7.10pm to be given collection time of 7.36 to 7.45. Arrived at 7.20pm thinking the food will be done and collected so still nice and hot. Waited around 10 mins and food collected at 7.30pm. So still before the time that they had given me. On arriving home 3 mins later to eat. All the starters were cold. The mains slightly warm, the chips cold and the naan. So I call the restaurant to complain about this to be given excuses that the food is made one dish at a time and they can't do anything about cold food. And that due to the weather the food is prob cold. I asked to speak to a manager and told that they are busy with other branches and I cannot speak to anyone else regarding the problem with the food. His name was Fazal. Getting there at the time they had given on 736 would of defo meant I would of had freezing cold food. Not what I expected from a well known brand. Both of us feeling unwell next day. I wouldn't recommend this place as poor food and poor customer service. There was no resolution and no apologise for there poor food and cold food.

Order family dosa today and one Manchurian that's not good at all and sambar or the chutneys also are not good.

Drove all the way half an hour just to find out the place only accept cash which isn’t mentioned anywhere online. Person on the counter didn’t know how to treat customers at all. Rude and disappointing

The Madurai Chicken Kari Dosa was delicious – crusty, with a flavorful and spicy chicken filling. The fresh Mango Lassi was perfectly sweet and refreshing, balancing the meal. A great combo for an authentic South Indian experience!

Food was OK, honestly the service is horrible. The waitress there is good she is trying the best to help but the business needs more waitresses during busy times and not overload one person like this. Too much delay and takes forever for the food to arrive( this was for the weekend breakfast deal). Very disappointed.

The ambiance, atmosphere is clean and good. The service is outstanding, they were friendly and more helpful. The veg options are comparatively more and have more variety. The food presentation were creative and the taste is more authentic and tasty. I can still remember the taste. I have ordered mushroom pepper fry as an starter and onion rava masala dosa as main. I will recommend both. And i also had strawberry milkshake, it was thick and tasty.

If you order chicken biryani or mutton biryani they will give you peices only and you need to search for rice… don’t waste your money

I really enjoyed the meal as it was very delicious . We ordered paneer dosa which looked so tempting, was served with super awesome sambhar and chutneys . I also had strawberry milkshake which was extremely tasty. The restaurant is baby friendly as the environment was very peaceful for my baby.

Ordered takeaway and this is what was on my food. Black plastic which I thought was burnt pieces but are not, green fibre and hair on my dosa. I feel unwell. The leaky/soggy food was the least of my problems.

I have ordered masala dosa and poori masala and waited for 40 mins for them to serve the food. Along with that i have ordered 2 fried rice and chilli chicken for take away at the same time of ordering the dine in. The customer service is very bad and after i ate all i have waited around 20 mins for the parcel. One of worst food i had in my life. Not recomended to anyone. Customer service is very bad as well.

The only decent dish was the dosa; everything else was completely flavorless, especially the veg biryani, which had no taste whatsoever. I definitely won’t be coming back to this place. The atmosphere was terrible, with a bad smell lingering around, making it feel like a complete waste of money. The staff were robotic, merely asking, "Do you need anything else?" To top it off, no spoons or napkins were provided with the dosa.

I ordered one Deal 2 chicken curry rice porial. SOOO BAAD When I got the delivery the Carrots Porial was spoiled and smell soo disgusting like one week no removed garbage smell. There is no food safety matters in this Chennai Dosa restaurant and it’s really chance of food poisoning. Food authorities need to focus on eyes on this jokers.

Poor customer service and took the order 30 minutes ago and paid as well . After 30 minutes they came back and said it’s busy they cannot complete the order . Sitting there for 30 minutes for nothing .if you gonna serve only for family then just tell us we will go somewhere else . I don’t recommend this place for a family outing …. Even take away food also cannot eat very dry

Ghee roast it’s really too crispy and well and nicely looking. Parrota s with chicken Chettinad curry good taste to eat.i guve four star because ambience it’s not literally comfortable.

I ordered chole bhature and one raita from uber eats, they delivered me one bhatura and 2 spoons of channa, raita was full of onions, it looked like one spoon of yogurt on onion while it should be onion in raita, but ufff it was just onions no yogurt at all. And the amount of channa, ridiculous. Only 2 spoons, i could count the numbers of channa. And no gravy was in there, i had to eat the bhatura with a cup of tea cos the channa wasn’t enough even for one bhatura. Bharuta was all broken i used spoon to eat like we do for rice. It was a horrible order in my life. They should have thought before delivering that little amount of food in the amount if £12.00. Ridiculous and horrible food

Avoid at all cost! First we ordered our drinks and starters, along with our mains as usual. They brought our mains before our starters, to make it even better one of the mains were completely wrong. So we requested the correct main. They then brought our starters. I ordered a chicken naan to eat with my curry which they brought out when I had finished my meal. Highly disappointed in the whole meal and service. £40 wasted.

We had gone a group of 15 people and we call them and confirmed reservation, when we are there they had given the seats to someone. There is no communication with the customers or colleagues. And we had to be seat next to washing area and the kitchen. And our group seated in 3 different places. The floor was dirty and looks like cleaned so long. And the seats was also dirty ( can refer the photos ) The food was ok. Masala Dosa was good and the Chinese dishes too. Kothu porotta was below average for me. Vada was ok and the chatni was good. I won’t go again and won’t bring my friends. Or can go with take away. NOTE : It’s CASH ONLY and NHS Disc. Only weekdays.

I've always had a bad experience with the Chennai Dosa chain. Especially with the Smethwick branch. So, I had very low expectations when I visited this place. But to my very sweet surprise, the food was the closest to what authentic south Indian food I've had in a while. We went for an oothappam combo for meat thali. The pappad got a bit soaked in moisture as it was over the oothappam. But other than that, the way the meat was cooked, the taste of rasam, curry, Dal and everything else was just perfect. The only reason I haven't given 5 is because they didn't have an option for different rice types. Sona masoori or long grain in the place of basmati would give a much better and authentic experience. The beeda felt a bit stale. It might be because we had it a bit late after we got it from here. But apart from these two minor points, the whole experience was just brilliant. Please note that this place is cash only and the nearest card machine is either in Sainsbury's or 400m away in Londis (which is currently out of service).

A special thanks to Chef Kutty at this restaurant. We go here almost daily. It’s always nice to meet the chef, who always greets us with a smile, and makes the tastiest food. We go here specially for his chicken biryani and idli sambar. His chicken biryani is the best we’ve had in the UK. We hope Kutty stays at this branch forever as it’s close to us.

I just loved it . We are looking for an Indian style restaurant and this is the best place . We had chicken and mutton biryani , both are amazing with authentic Indian spices. Would love to visit again. 💯
