Myself and 7 of my friends had such a wonderful evening celebrating my friends 50th birthday… Yet again the food was absolutely beautiful, the meat was cooked to perfection 👌 and the chilli prawns I had were delicious. The best by far 🙌 A few of my friends had never been to Charcoal before, they was very impressed with the food too, which was nice for me as I suggested dining there for the evening 😁 The staff are so lovely and friendly, the atmosphere is always amazing every time I visit. I highly recommend C&E they never disappoint We was so well looked after all evening 🙏🏼 Thank you so much 🤗 xx

Home delivery review: 👍 Always lovely food. 👎 No one wants to wait 2 hours+ for their food delivery. Especially when told max 1 hour upfront. This isn't a one-off either. Business owner: this puts people off ordering from your business. Please do better.

Eaten here on several occasions as well as had countless takeaways and this place never disappoints. The food is always superb, fresh and excellent portion sizes. Service too is excellent and represents good value, especially the midweek set prices menu. Highly recommended.

We had excellent catering done with Charcoal and Earth for our large party. Food was delicious and on time. I'd order again and highly recommend anyone else who would like to cater food from C&E.

We ordered Charcoal & Earth to cater for a summer garden party this year and it was the best decision. The owner (chef) was so helpful, helping me decide what to order and how much we needed for our 40+ guests. There was SO MUCH food, and it was delicious. All our guests commented on how good the food was and there was plenty for seconds and thirds! Off the back of our party my mother in law did a big order for a family dinner a few weeks later and again it was amazing food and so much of it. I would highly recommend order from Charcoal & Earth for a standard takeaway but also for large group / parties. We will definitely be using them again, they were really reasonable for the amount of food you got too!!

Great service 20/08/24 from the young man serving us, not sure of his name but he was very fast and friendly and the food was lovely. They also brought a free dessert out for a birthday on the table. A few vegiterians on the table also enjoyed what they had for anyone wondering about that. Great dinner and highly recommend.

Terrible. Order still hasn’t arrived after 2 hours of ordering. Can’t get through to speak to restaurant. Don’t waste your time with this place. Edit- (14/08/2024) Have seen your reply. I was 100% hangry when I made this review. We waited 2 hours for our order. It said it would be a 40 min delivery time. When food did eventually arrive it was hot and tasted fresh. I tried calling after waiting 1.5 hours to cancel the order (as it was way later than we would usually like to eat) but didn’t get through, I tried around 15 times. Again apologies for the harsh review in the moment. I think constructive criticism is to stop allowing orders if you feel you are getting too busy to deliver at a reasonable timeframe. Or make customer aware of long wait time.

We asked the owner at very short notice to provide food for 17 people. He couldn’t have been more helpful if he tried. The food was delicious and so plentiful. It got delivered exactly at the time we’d agreed, which meant nobody had to leave to collect. The price was so reasonable too. I had multiple guests saying it was one of the best take aways they’d ever had, so you definitely earned yourself a load more customers overnight! Plus the free Baklava was an unexpected, very tasty surprise. Thank you so much. You made hosting our family gathering so much less stressful.

I booked this restaurant via the website with ease and mentioned it was for my sons birthday on the booking. We had a choice of table when we arrived which was nice and the food was outstanding. We ordered a Charcoal Special which was excellent. The star of the show was the lamb which was melt in your mouth. After the mains we was surprised by the waiter with a birthday desert with candle for my son birthday, nice touch and complete surprise for all. Highly recommend.

Lovely restaurant, nicely decorated and friendly staff. Food was lovely I wasn’t as keen on my prawns main however rest of food was amazing. Drinks were great too. Busy restaurant but didn’t compensate for good service! Really enjoyed our evening and will be back.

I give this star purely because one of the girl staff young blonde girl It was Father's Day me my partner and daughter came in food was lovely couldn't complain but the service at the end the girl made me feel very uncomfortable by saying to my partner oh your paying on Father's Day and giggled, she needs to realise how hard it is sometimes with a baby and not being able to work just yet .. learn a valuable lesson in life don't say things that might hurt someone's feelings and one day you might find out yourself when you have a child of your own

Great Little Turkish restaurant Went with a group on Sunday lunchtime. They do a variety of menus and prices. I don’t normally like Turkish but this was absolute lovely. I had the Chicken Lovers. Which was a variety of chicken pieces. There was so much I couldn’t eat it. All very tasty. Definitely recommend.

I recently came here for dinner to celebrate our Nan’s birthday. Considering it was a Friday evening and the restaurant was full, the service was second to none. The staff were friendly, helpful and made our Nan’s celebrations memorable. The food was lovely and the drinks were beautiful. Our waitresses (two young blonde ladies) were exceptional and couldn’t do enough for our table. Having a young baby, one of the waitresses was very helpful in sorting a high chair for him. They were very good with my son and kept him entertained. I can’t thank the staff enough for their service and hospitality. Very much looking forward to going back soon! Thank you C&E x

I ordered for 20 people chose a time and what I would liked in my order. I was not disappointed in fact I and all my guests raved about how delicious the food was. They were on time, it was hot and so much food that my guests got to take home leftovers. Literally the nicest, tastiest food ever..🤩

We are regular guests at C&E because the food is consistently excellent, portions are large and the atmosphere is really good, whether the restaurant is packed or quiet. Easily the best of the Turkish restaurants in Rayleigh and possibly even the whole area.

Another fantastic Turkish, this one as you come towards Rayleigh High Street and on the opposite side to Marks & Spender, tucked away into the corner. Food is always fantastic and staff are very friendly. Great variety of A La Carte dishes and a really, really good 3-course "Special Platter" Set Menu option for around £23pp atm. Portions are huge and doggy bags normally required!!! Highly recommended :)

Waited over 2 hours for a delivery and it’s still not here. Staff do not pick up the phone and when they do they say it’s left 10 minutes ago.

Had a 6.30 booking on Friday and had table all night. Food was exceptional, cocktails amazing,and staff friendly and attentive. Best Turkish restaurant in Rayleigh.

The food was ok but after watching the food being prepared and cooked I couldn’t enjoy the meal. Kitchen staff were handling raw meat, partly cooked meat and bread with bare hands and washing in between handling different food Items I witnessed a chef pick up a kebab which had caught alight and he proceeded to bow out the flames. Not nice and spreading any germs or infections onto the food to be served to guests. Overall very bad experience with inadequate hygiene standards

I went for a meal here last week on a Tuesday evening and had the set menu and the food was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent and it was the nicest Turkish food I have had in a long time. I would definitely recommend the chicken wings and chicken Shish.

Very impressed with this place. Staff were very good and attentive. My wife is a Coeliac so requires Gluten free food. They were excellent at ensuring she got Gluten free and adapted the set menu accordingly. We were both extremely full after our meal. Cold Meze was excellent. The special Platter was also good size portion and very nice.

Mrs George is a bit of a expert when it comes to Lamb chops , those served to us last night in this very welcoming and well served restaurant we're declared as the best she had ever eaten. My chicken shish was soft and tender. Staff were polite attentive and welcoming. Will definitely return. By the way still going on about those Lamb chops this evening.

I really can't recommend this place highly enough. Absolutely wonderful food, huge portions at very good prices, and friendly service. I had the Vegan Earth and it was superb, one of many vegan and vegetarian options (but plenty for carnivores too). We got chatting to the owner (lovely guy) and since we don't drink coffee he brought out two complementary pieces of baklawa for us. It was soooo good. My husband has travelled extensively in the region and said it's the best baklawa he's had since he was in Azerbaijan. We've had takeaway from here before and always enjoyed it, but eating in was an even better experience. We'll be returning often.

Visited for lunch with my daughter, the waiter who served us was so polite and friendly, he made us feel very welcome. The food came out quickly and was delicious as always. This is definitely my favourite Turkish to come to in Rayleigh, it’s also very affordable, everything from the service to the food and the decor of this restaurant is spot on. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

(Delivery) Lamb ribs were nothing but fat and lacked decent flavours or temperature (but were expensive) . The moussaka was tasty, but needed heating. On this occasion the rice portion was slim and the bread not as tasty as usual (all in all = average) and I’ll try elsewhere from this old favourite.

This is has been the third time to Charcoal and Earth. It was a delightful culinary delight that captured the essence of Turkish cuisine. From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the staff and genuine friendliness was noticeable making us feel like honoured guests. The traditional Turkish dishes were bursting with taste and richness leaving an indelible mark on our taste buds. The portion sizes are incredibly generous too. We will be going again soon.

Had dinner tonight with a few pals. Never been before and chose the Christmas platter at £30 a head for hot starter ,main and dessert. All very fresh & tasty and the very generous platters nearly had us beat. Front of house guy was very friendly and pleasant at all times. Well worth a visit 🙂

Great customer service! I placed an order for collection & before I made it home received a call to advise I had been given the wrong meal. Straight away I received an apology and was offered to have the meal made and delivered at no extra charge. The meal was delivered quickly and with a free drink & desert. Was very impressed with how the situation was handled & the food was delicious as always!

First time at this venue with a group of approx 18. First impressions- liked the decor. Service was pretty quick considering the amount of us and we got our mains meals at the same time which was impressive! Food was great! We had the three course set menu and it was a good way of tasting different items if not familiar with Turkish cuisine. Good sized portions and well cooked. The Pistachio Cake my friend had was enormous! The staff were friendly and capable. Will definitely return!

We had a party of 18. The service and food were fantastic. We all got served at the same time. The decor is lovely and atmosphere really good. I have been before so was more then happy to take a large group of friends back with me knowing what quality food and service you receive. They have a great set menu and it’s hard to eat it all as the portions good too. Prices are very good too for the quality of food. I will be going again.
