Casual but tidy, clean Srilankan style authentic Sri Lankan food with spices. Reasonably priced. Nice food. It's worth a try if you don't mind a bit of spices.

**** PLEASE DON'T BUY ANY FOOD FROM THIS PLACE**** I bought some mutton rolls/curry and they were off. I was quite sick with stomachache for entire week-end due to their substandard take-away which I bought on the week-end. Looking at their take- away outlet and cluttered kitchen, its quite oblivious that place has serious hygiene issues. I am reporting this to food hygiene standards and also to the city council.

Unfortunately, our family had a negative experience with the mutton rolls we purchased from this place. They were quite bland and didn't seem to be of the highest quality. Shortly after consuming them, several of us experienced stomach upset that lasted for several days.

Just had Mutton curry with rice from this takeaway. It was so delicious and tasty. I have eaten many other items from this takeaway and it is always a thumbs 👍. The food is so authentic and tasty. I would to definitely recommend Chandra Takeaway to my friends and family.

Bonus Halal food. The chicken and mutton rolls are of legend. Amazing, and I asked them to make some fresh for me and they did. The lamb curry and biryani was very nice as well. Respect.

try the mutton rolls! It's like a cross between a croquette and a spring roll

Food is moderately nice but poor customer service. The person serving is poor with customers, they should find somebody else for this.

The food is really good and fresh! Can get a good selection of cooked food and Sri Lankan short eats. Fish buns, string hoppers, koththu roti, and breakfast buns like butter buns, raisins buns are some of the favourites. The best is the Lump Rice!

Very tasty food, and excellent value for money! I've been coming here now for about 2 years, and they've never disappointed. I ordered the mutton curry & rice, accompanied by three vegetable dishes... Cassava, daal, and cabbage. All in all, another instance of my belly being happy.

Idiappam is good. But can not be available on all the days. If you don't want Sodhi and Sambal, still they charge full amount . They should reduce for sodhi/sambal.

It was my 1st time ordering from them today -22 June 2015. I received a brochure of their menu a couple days back and the guy was saying how the place just reopened. It sells Malaysian and Oriental dishes also some Thai and Japanese. I had their Nasi Goreng (means 'fried rice' in Malay), which was a spicy fried rice with shrimps, pork, shredded chicken and shrimp paste, and was happy with it. I was really missing fried rice since moving over and had a really bad one from another place a few days before. It was 5.99 pounds though which is quite expensive for fried rice though. It's usually sold for $3-$5. So here, 3.99 pounds would've been more reasonable, considering ingredients might take a bit more effort to find. My boyfriend had their Special Fried Rice which had shrimps, pork and chicken. It was 4.99 pounds. He thought the ingredients listed as well as the egg in it was tasty. They also gave us a complimentary 320ml bottle of pineapple juice with nata de coco. That was nice of them =) ( also a good way to promote their drinks ) and it tasted good too. I was initially concerned as they seemed to have quite a lot of bad reviews but as long as they remain this standard for all their dishes, they should be getting better ones in time to come. Added on Tuesday, 30 June 2015: I had their Nasi Goreng for the 3rd time 2 days ago and unfortunately it wasn't done like the first time. When I requested for 'spicy' and the 1st time round, they put in sliced tiny green chilli which worked really well to give a bit of a kick but this time it just came with a 'chilli oil' which really does nothing and the bits of chilli at the bottom seemed burnt or something. I supposed they decided to change it up. It was really disappointing as it wasn't what I expected to get.

Regular here but I have to add this to my previous review. Sick and tired of how you allow people to just sit at the bar and take up all the space for those that want to order. It makes no sense to me how this is acceptable. I am a manager in hospitality and would personally never allow this as it shows priority to the OAP regulars that are used to behaving like they are prioritised due to lack of mobility. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe what I am saying is true... Despite all this, I cannot fault those working at the bar who show great ability to recognise customers that come and queue behind the hoggers in the correct order which I find to be quite impressive. Hope this is taken on board🙏🏼

I usually love Costa Coffee's beverages, but my recent experience on a special day was quite disappointing. I decided to visit Costa Coffee to enjoy my own company. Unfortunately, the coffee tasted horrible. While I rarely use public or restaurant toilets, I generally find them clean. However, I was shocked when I entered the toilet at this Costa Coffee this south woodford branch. There was urine on the commode and floor, and tissues were scattered everywhere. To make matters worse, I saw a broom behind one of the tables inside. It was not hygienic at all.

I normally get coffee, a veg sandwich and something sweet usually however Was quite disappointed to see the lady who was handling sandwiches, bread and cakes touching everything bare hands at first I was like it’s fine if her hands are washed in between each handle but she was not washing in between she went from touching all different meat/ veg sandwiches with her bare hands and then to picking up cake slices with her barehands then to a loaf of bread to be sliced. All that cross Contamination was too much to see and I don’t know how she was not wearing gloves with each item she is handling or being told by someone or to even use tongs to pick up food. As someone who eats halal but veg from a non halal restaurant can’t be eating here any longer but this also applies to vegetarians and if they cater to vegans too. Otherwise staff and the environment is lovely can’t fault them. I’m sadden the handling of food is not up to standard and can no longer eat here unless changes are made.
