Chada in Wandsworth

My then girlfriend and I first ate at Chada when we were students in 1986. We didn't have much money, so we would share a starter and sometimes a main, and restrict ourselves to one beer each. Even so, the owners were unfailingly kind and welcoming, and the food was always fantastic. Fast forward to 2002 and as a now married couple, we revisited Chada to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. It had been a few years, but the restaurant was as good as ever. Shortly after we moved to Wales, but in November 2022 we visited once again to celebrate my sister in law's 70th. Every dish was absolutely delicious and the owners were so gracious. With our grown up son now living in London, we hope to resume visiting Chada on a regular basis.

This is an amazing restaurant. Intimate dining experience. The customer service was exceptional and the food was delicious.

We were thoroughly impressed by our maiden visit to Chada Thai, as our local Thai restaurant. We received an incredibly warm welcome and continued excellent service from the delightful owners. As long-standing fans of Thai food, we just knew the meal would be excellent. But our expectations were surpassed by a wonderful meal and an accompanying Sauv Blanc. We couldn’t recommend Chada enough and look forward to taking our family and friends there and making Chada a long term go-to.

My husband, daughter and I stopped at CHADA for a meal on our way home from watching the London premiere of excellent Popcorn film, SHE WILL. Everything we ate was really delicious. I like Thai food and have spent a lot of time in Thailand but have never enjoyed a meal so much as that in CHADA. The gentle, beautiful lady, restaurant owner made us so welcome and served us with warmth and a smile. I cannot recommend this place enough and look forward to eating there again.

Found this place on tripadvisor and was absolutely not disappointed. Starters were great, had the mixed platter and the satay chicken and were really nice and good portions. The mains were beautiful- stir fried prawns, beef massaman and penang chicken, all absolutely gorgeous. The service was incredibly organic and friendly, Nid and Troy couldn’t do enough to make our meal a pleasant one, and I will certainly back. One of the best Thai meals I’ve had in london (and I’ve had a few).

Found this searching on Tripadvisor while staying in Battersea. The good reviews are correct; this long-established restaurant is run by welcoming couple,and the food was well presented and very good. The relaxed and calm atmosphere suited me and my friend perfectly, comfortable without being over-formal. Would be very happy to return again if I am in the area, and can see why it is a local favourite.

Visited the Chada Thai restaurant in Battersea on a recent trip to London not having been there for many years. Thankfully the food was as delicious as ever and restaurant had a lovely ambience. Super friendly owners and great service. Highly recommend a visit.

Went for my first time and loved it! The food was lovely and the owners were so nice! They talked to us the whole time and were super friendly. The cuisine is like all of the traditional food in Thailand and I really enjoyed my meal.

Best Thai food I've ever eaten. We are so thrilled this is our local. The food is exquisite, the owners are an utter delight, personable (they remember us and last conversations, we are greeted like long lost friends). But at the same time they aren't intrusive, they have the perfect balance of talking and leaving you to eat your meal. The restaurant is also decorated beautifully, very warm and calming. Just love it, thank you time and time again, it's just as good if not better every time we visit. See you soon no doubt!

Their Covid 19 precautions were very reassuring from the point of arrival to our departure. Very welcoming, family run feel with high levels of attention without being intrusive. The menu selection is wide with typical Thai dishes. We were a party of four, all ordered different dishes and everything was extremely well cooked and presented. Prices are good, especially for London. It's a thoroughly nice restaurant with pleasant decor, run by thoroughly nice people. Easy parking if not along the main road then in Beechmore Road with a two minute walk. Highly recommended.

A brilliant meal - every dish was really tasty and the service was spot on. They also cater well for vegetarians. Highly recommend - we’ll be back soon!

Had a superb meal last night. The food tasted fresh and flavoursome. I had duck and my sister had chicken. Really well presented. The staff were brilliant - Toy and Nid made us feel really welcome and couldn't have done anymore. Felt very safe in the restaurant - temperatures checked on arrival and hand sanitiser freely available. Everywhere very clean. They are also taking part in the eat out to help out scheme although the prices are really reasonable without it. Will be visiting again. Happy to have found a great restaurant in Battersea.

Tan pronto como los restaurantes abrieron después de haber estado cerrados durante 4 meses, mi esposo y yo decidimos regresar a Chada Thai. Los maravillosos propietarios Nid y Troy fueron tan cálidos y acogedores como siempre. La comida es simplemente deliciosa: las mejores alitas de pollo, gambas envueltas en papel, ensaladas de fideos picantes, curry, pad Thai, etc. ¡Todo es perfecto! ¡Excelente rosa también! Y encima de todo, si hay algo que le gustaría que no esté en el menú, ¡Nid lo hará por usted! ¡No puedo esperar a volver!

He estado cenando en Chada Thai durante 30 años. Nid y Troy son la pareja elegante, encantadora y encantadora que posee y ha estado dirigiendo este restaurante desde que llegué. Mi esposa y yo comimos aquí un lunes húmedo por la noche. Éramos los únicos dos comensales, pero nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos. La comida era fantástica, tuvimos pato en curry rojo y coco y el tigre llorón. Ambos platos fueron increíbles. Pide el arroz especial que tenía huevo y verduras. Una vez que haya tenido esto, nunca más querrá arroz simple y pegajoso. La comida tiene un precio muy razonable y estoy feliz de recomendar este restaurante.

Estuve de negocios en Londres y me encontré con este restaurante. Los propietarios estaban allí y eran amables y parecían apasionados por su restaurante. Eso siempre es algo bueno! Cocino y también como comida tailandesa a menudo y quería pedir algo que normalmente no pido. Fui por el calamar frito como entrante y la tilapia como plato principal. Ambos estaban deliciosos. Me gustó tanto que regreso mañana y tendré fotografías la próxima vez. No podría recomendar este restaurante lo suficiente.

Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality and some of the best food we've had in a long time. The king prawns in green curry were absolutely gorgeous. Really fresh perfectly grilled and the flavours of the curry were wonderful. The roast such in red Thai curry was also absolutely wonderful. Add to that a great wine list .. we had a very smooth bottle of Sancerre. Altogether fantastic food, really lovely service and very good value for money.

Estábamos visitando Londres desde California y nos sorprendió gratamente lo deliciosa que era la comida. ¡Probablemente la mejor sopa Tom Yum que he probado en mi vida! El personal fue muy amable y ayudó a nuestros hijos a elegir platos que no serían demasiado picantes. ¡Todos disfrutaron su comida! El restaurante también estaba excepcionalmente limpio y ordenado, así que un A + por todas partes.

Buscando un lugar para celebrar el lunes por la noche nos encontramos con este lugar. Teníamos un bebé con nosotros, pero fueron bien recibidas y nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos. El menú era todo apetitoso y los platos que pedimos no nos decepcionó. Mi familia que comer muy a menudo pensamos que es uno de los mejores restaurantes tailandeses que había estado.

Maravillosa comida tailandesa con mi familia durante un viaje al Reino Unido. Ordenados el banquete como éramos un grupo grande. Todo estaba delicioso - entradas tradicionales (unidos, rollitos de primavera, etc), luego de una selección de cuatro platos principales servido con arroz, verduras, pad Thai. El pescado crujiente con albahaca tailandesa y los langostinos eran, y destacar del resto de la fiesta me encantó el cerdo a la parrilla con salsa de pimienta, pero todo estaba perfectamente preparado. El servicio era encantador y la decoración es preciosa. Recomiendo totalmente si están en la zona (fácil de aparcar fuera demasiado, aunque puede haber sido suerte).

Este restaurante ha estado alrededor desde que puedo recordar. La comida siempre ha sido excelente. Platos muy de alta calidad, todo lo que he probado ha sido excepcional. Muy amable el personal encantador, excelente servicio. He tenido varias fiestas aquí a lo largo de los años y nunca he me arrepentí. Muy buen restaurante.

Tuvimos algo de comida muy sabrosa en nuestra visita el lunes por la noche; fue una lástima que el restaurante estaba casi vacío. El único problema fue que mi comida (tanto el plato principal y postre) no estaba lo suficientemente caliente, pero que se calentó cuando pregunté.

Came with my friends to celebrate their return to UK and I was very happy! Got mixed starters, not bad, but doesn't worth £7,50 to be honest. But their mains were absolutely amazing! We had beef Pad Thai, pork belly with curry sauce and chicken (don't remember which one was it haha) and all of them were really delicious. Very nice vine also. Service was top and we will be back for sure!

Visited with my wife for a quick bite to eat on a Friday evening.We had the mixed starters which were OK, not sure warranted £7.50 each though.The mains were much better (grilled beef, chicken stir fry and pad thai).Service decent.

This restaurant looks attractive from outside.It has a classic Thai Menu.It is clearly family run and the service was friendly and good.The restaurant was not nearly as busy as it deserved during our visit.Its well worth a visit.This area is not over flowing in good restaurants, but this place deserves success and to be busy.

A few years ago I visited this restaurant. Great food - great service. So I wondered, coming back this year (2016), if the impression would be the same. It is! Still very authentic Thai food, still very kind and efficient service. So this restaurant is still very recommendable!

Chada is an old favourite of mine. I have been visiting it for over 20 years and the quality has never disappointed me. The husband and wife team who have owned it since it was launched have become firm friends. The cooking is truly outstanding compared to the bland offerings you get in the many over-hyped Thai restaurants around town and not expensive. The restaurant is rarely crowded or noisy and the wine list will encourage a leisurely meal which you will enjoy. Make the visit to booming Battersea and see for yourself.

I have visited a couple of times with my girlfriend as we live right around the corner, both times I left wondering why the restaurant wasn't packed out because the food was excellent and so was the service (it is run by a husband and wife team who were very helpful without being over bearing). I would recommend the weeping tiger beef and the sharing selection to start!

My Family took me to Chada restaurant for my birthday and we had a fantastic night. It was a Saturday night and was not at all busy (possibly 3 other tables with diners) and hence we were able to easily get a table without a reservation. The customer service was flawless; the staff opened the doors for us when coming in and out, assisted with seating us at the table and placing our napkins on our laps, the staff were constantly smiling, complimentary and were able to make recommendations on the food. They also surprised me with a birthday dessert with a candle and sang happy birthday. And gave us complimentary gifts. There was a nice ambience and decor. There were 4 of us, and with 3 starters to share, a main course each, bottle of wine, few other alcoholic and soft drinks our bill came to approx. £160.The food was nice, although I wouldn't say out of this world. Some dishes we had were better than others. I had the steak dish which was very nice and in general we all thoroughly enjoyed our main courses. The starters I thought were average and hence why I have not awarded 5 stars. The chicken satay was a bit bland and the chicken soup not that tasty.Overall a very good experience and I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. We will certainly return.

Went there with friends on Sat night, we were the only other table with a couple on the other side of a big restaurant, menu was written wrong ! They has spelt. the long green beans as Lo on Ben se we had to ask what it meant then they realised their mistake. When I asked not to have any added sugar to my starter & main the waitress was very surprised ! My rice noodles , chicken, egg & prwans was just ok, I would have preferred it to be drier as it was swimming in a garlic sauce, our friend's squid was so over cooked it was like rubber , the desserts were disgusting and the fact that the waitress was hanging around waiting to clear our table all the time was very uncomfortable, the total bill for 4 starters, 4 mains, 2 pack choy side dishes, 2 desserts, 2 soft drinks & one Martini was £125 which for what we had was totally over priced. Won't go back there again.

After a full day, we did not want to go far for diner. We had passed the restaurant in the afternoon and spotted the Michelin sticker on the window. We decided to go back there for diner. The staff was very friendly, the food was good, the atmosphere was pleasant. A lady in the staff was constantly cleaning the tables with dettol spray...a little bit akward to be walking around with a spray in the restauarant every 2 minutes...but better like this then the other way around. I ordered some fresh fruits for dessert which was not a standard on the menu and it was not a problem at all. I got a nice plate with pinneaple, cherries...It was not the best thai diner I ever had and I would not drive from far to come here but if you're in the neigbourhood it is definetely a place to recommend.

This is a great local Thai restaurant. The starters are almost the best part of the menu, all really fresh and well balanced tastes. These are some of the best spring rolls I have had - not tasteless and greasy like some places. I'd also recommend the dumplings.Mains are all delicious, I have never had a disappointing dish.

Hmm, the food was more like chinese than thai. Nice venue, polite staff but not particularly wowed by the food. I would not say this is authentic thai food.

I've been to two other huge high-quality chain restaurants while in London and this place beats them. Friendly service and the food, oh man, the food was absolutely impeccable. Would ABSOLUTELY recommend.

Just stumbled upon this place on a weekend visiting from N.I. Very few people in which worried me but we tried it anyway. The food was fantastic. The place itself is really well decorated. You should try this place.

We recently visited friends in Battersea Park Road, just south of the river Thames, and they took us to their local, Chada Thai. The interior is beautiful with authentic buddhas, figurines and gold chada headdresses, plain-painted tables and proper linen. We received such a warm welcome from the Thai couple who run it and the food was absolutely delicious, especially the starters: pork and prawn dumplings and deep-fried king prawns with hot sauce were finger-licking good. Thai green curry was excellent; also the steamed sea bass with fresh ginger and spring onion, the steamed pan choi and the pad thai noodles with prawn and peanut. I thought prices were very reasonable with most mains at under £10, fish about £13.50. The location is slightly out of the way but it's well worth the trip and you won't get more charming service in the whole of London.

Quite a popular Thai restaurant but it doesn't hit the spot for me. The food is OK but the service is a bit formal and stuffy. Have seen Sir Bob Geldoff in here!

This is one of the most authentic and best Thai restaurants we have ever visited. In a league of its own...And we have been to Thailand several times...Service? Couldn't be found better anyplace else. Impeccable.Will we come back? Anytime. A real gem if you are looking for good Thai food.

I have often come to this lovely restaurant. The food is always of the best standard and the welcome very friendly (I love the new decorated look!). I tend to go for a mixed stater combination to share and then a Pad Thai with Pak choi. The perfume and spice combinations are exquisite, just perfect for my taste buds! I definitely recommend this little gem of a restaurant.

This was our favourite local restaurant ! They reopened recently after refurnishment and we were so pleased to discover that the food was as good as ever..! We recommend the breaded prawns, the special pad Thai with prawns and chicken, the delicious green curry ...and if you like spice : the waterfall salad ...! But ..each time we discover something new....The service is brilliant and the lady owner is absolutely charming and will advice and look after you with a lot of care. DO not expect to be serve very quickly...every dish is fresh and made for you according to your preference in spices. ( 20 mins wait is usual..) Just relax with a glass of wine ( the new wine list is brilliant.!) We usually take the pinot grigio which goes so well with Thai food..!The new decoration is more modern very pleasant and beautiful !!! IIt is not only good food and brilliant service.. it is a delicate Thai experience !

I used to go here when it first opened in the late 80's.Thai food was not as available then. On Saturday one of our dishes was boiled prawns...supposed to be stir fried with chilli and thai basil. When we were asked how the food was we politely pointed out that the stir fried prawns were a bit bland and not stir fried. The Lady owner then started to tell us very rudely that it was not chinese food and they don't use oyster sauce! They need to go and see what all the excellent Thai Cafes are doing around Battersea. I think it is just an outdated formula and the competition has overtaken them.

We used to go to this restaurant a few years ago as the food was very good. The service and friendliness was never good, but the food compensated. So we decided to return to try out again. It was freezing inside. We had to work very hard to even get an order in. The food was not good at all. Again we worked very hard to get a coffee/tea and that actually meant getting up and getting the waitress to come to us, even for the bill. It became quite boring. Overall I would stay well clear of this one.

We thought we would try this restaurant as it was not far from my daughter's flat and she was always impressed by the white table cloths and sparkling glasses which she noticed as she passed. Personally I have always found that these two signs are good indicators of a restaurant that cares about the food it serves as well as its appearance, once again this proved correct. The service was good and the food cooked just right, the vegetables had a bite to them and everything tasted fresh. There is a modest wine list and the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and the Pinot Noir were very good at around £28 each. For two courses each, wine and coffee the bill came to £133 for four people which I thought was very good value. Well worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.

I have been twice to that restaurant. The first time was a nice experience. The second time, the manager was away and we were almost pushed away by the waitress. They picked up the plate of my friend before I finished eating and gave us the bill before we had an opportunity to order any desert. The food is good and the place is charming, but I have never wanted to go back since.

A great, pretty standard Thai place. Service is good, without that 'too-serving' atmosphere some of the Thai places can do. Normal sort of menu with all the usuals, expansive fish menu. Food was quick, good size and cheap for London. Taste was great (dry fry chilli chicken), but my partner felt the Halibut had been frozen.Probably the best Thai on the road, though nothing to distinguish it from the Lavender Hill ones.
