One of the oldest fish and chip restaurants in Paisley. The food is good, the atmosphere welcoming, and the prices are great.

Called in this morning for a breakfast and a mug of tea. One of the best breakfasts I've had and the Black Pudding was amazing. Highly recommended.

This is a traditional fish and chip shop with very friendly staff. They went out of their way to provide my great nephew with a hot sauce for his chips. They gave him three to try in small dishes. They seem to have lots of regular customers and know their names. My Sister and Niece both had a breakfast which they said was very good. This place also serves gluten free battered fish which is very hard to get.

Got a shock when we went in at 5 ish on a Saturday evening, it was empty, couldn't believe it 🤔 got chips egg and beans that was lovely and tea

Just bought fish and chips and black pudding from here. Chips were rubbish pile of scraps. Hardly a decent chip in the box. Anyone in the whole of Renfrewshire know a chip shop that serves decent chips?

Great wee Paisley Chippy. Pizza was delicious. Mac n cheese was tasty. Chips were real chippy chips. Tea came in mugs. The woman who served us was quick and friendly. What more can you ask for?

I used to come here as a child,but don't live near it anymore so it was a treat to see it still open. I just got chips and they are one of the few chippies will serve them in vegetable oil-they were amazing-not one bad chip lol! Staff are really pleasant,there was a good menu of food too so I'll be back to try a pizza next time. Seemed to be busy and still has a seating area.

Fab, but 3 chips in & I spotted a short hair on my plate. I don't care how long/famous reputation the place has but their fryer should be wearing apron+cap & counterstaff hair-nets in the very least. Sorry but "B.O.A.K"

Popped in for a teatime. Staff are really friendly and accommodating. I ordered fish and chips, but a wee error scored me Haddock instead. Delicious, and my friend loved her black pudding supper. Can't wait to go back. Thank you.

I’ve been coming here since I was a boy and whenever I’m back in Paisley it’s a must for me.I’ve had fish and chips all over the U.K. and really and truly the Haddock supper here cannot be beaten..anywhere.Second to none.

The breakfasts are always so delicious and the staff are so friendly. It doesn’t matter what you order you won’t be disappointed. They have started doing home delivery which is also great! Highly recommend.

This used to be a superb chippy but standards have plummeted. I ordered a takeaway Haddock supper (£9:50) and it was frankly terrible. Soggy yellow chips and a decent sized fish in more soggy batter. I ate the fish and a couple of chips and what was left went in the midden.

Ordered food through JustEat. After nearly 2 hours it arrived. To be fair, the food was all hot which was good, however, the chips looked and tasted as though they had been reheated a number of times. Ordered a tub of curry sauce, and although it was very warm (temp) I could have hung wallpaper with it. Fried pizza was stuck to the box, so when opening container, all of the cheese was removed from the pizza. I have had many good experiences within this establishment, but this has been a poor experience this time.

Busy place. Tabletops far to small. Very crammed seating. Nice fish n chips ,1 lady trying to serve all tables . Looked harassed poor soul but not her fault . Needs updated decor ,especially tables size.

My wife and I along with our 3 children stopped in for lunch with my wife's Mum, Dad and Brother after taking a stroll through Paisley. (I didn't take any pictures inside as I didn't want to possibly offend the other patrons)

I hadn't been in Castlevecchi for years and years until last week when we were all in the town centre and decided to get some lunch. After looking at a couple of places I remembered Castlevecchi was just around the corner and we headed there. I was really surprised to find that inside was exactly how I remembered it and I felt like I'd been transported back in time and I was a teenager popping in for some scran on a Saturday afternoon with my mates again. We sat down, gave the woman took our orders and a few minutes later well were tucking into lunch. The food tasted exactly the same as I remember it (delicious) the chips were thick and chunky but not stodgy and the pizza crunch I ordered was full of flavor. We're definitely going to be back because my daughter absolutely loved the place and announced that because she'd had her first lunch in Castlevecchi she was officially a proper Paisley buddy and she keeps asking if we're going to put in a just eat order anytime soon.

Great food would be 5 stars had it not been for a servery driver who appeared a few times during our meal. Left their detail car sitting outside, empty and idling the whole time they were. Climate change doesn't exist in paisley? Pollution diesel fumes wafting in the door. Fir god sake have a word. Thats utterly ridiculous behaving like that when everybody nowadays should know better. !!!!!!

How difficult is mac & cheese? Plate looks hot as the cheese is melted on top, pasta is cold right underneath. Feels like they microwaved a frozen portion, unbelievable. Fish is ok, batter not. Worst fries, bland and greasy.

Came here for a bite to eat and the staff were so friendly, chatted away to us and recommended places to go while we were in Scotland. We had asked for directions and a really lovely lady member of staff was so helpful and even came outside for a moment to point us in the right direction.

We stayed in Paisley for one night before we flew out of Glasgow and were walking around to find a quick small dinner. We landed here and the staff were so sweet! We ordered the curry chicken pizza and popcorn chicken. Nothing fancy but it was so tasty and affordable! Everyone was friendly and caring and it was a lovely experience.

Magnificent. Excellent service and super abundant food. Very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Everything is wonderfull.

Not as a good as it used to be and poor customer service this time as they sold my already paid for fritters to someone else that they by seemed to know who came in and ordered while I was waiting for the black pudding to be cooked so got a half portion and half refund instead.

Had a delivery from Just Eat, my order had one supper missing, tried contacting takeaway to remedy situation but nobody would answer the phone.

Best fish tea in Paisley. Kathy always cheery. Good thick pieces of fish, plenty chips. Keep up the good work big man.

5 stars but I'm biased mother worked in here for years. The following day we were off on holiday to New Zealand and did not want too cook anything the night before leaving so popped into Castelvecchis for a supper..... they did not disappoint.

I popped in for lunch (Sep 22) for the first time as I wanted to experience the history of the place and I wasn't disappointed, lovely retained character. Food was lovely; had the special haddock and salad. The waitress was just as lovely and will definitely be back 🍽️💕💫 Update (Nov 22)....visited again & same experience when it was really busy; which to be honest was really good to be a part of as the atmosphere took me back to my teens when I worked in a similar cafe. Enjoyed my scampi and chips, delicious & the waitress was again lovely..will be back again soon ☕💕🌟

My wife and I pop in for a quick fish and chips and we were offered the Paisley Fiver Feast deal. The girl who served us described it as a small fish and chips for a fiver including bread and butter and tea. What a fantastic deal well done Castelvecchi. Excellent value for money and fantastic service.

This has always been one of the best chippys in paisley for so many years but recently the standards have slipped badly, don't know if it's a coincidence but there is a new young fryer guy working and I've had two really poor meals where as before you could always count on a 5 star meal from here, in a blindfold taste test you would thing it's a reheated meal from Andy's golden fry.

Always been a friendly little sit in and take away fish and chip shop. Owned by no other than Paulo Nutinis family although you wouldn't know that with the decor lol. Get yourself to paisley and give it a try.

Was in today , no freddie on he usually fries fish when ordered had two fish teas which let them down big time , fish was from hotplate tasted as though it had been there for quite a while staff on today dropping the ball big time I,ll be voting with my feet ,shame I loved this place.

This place has gone down hill very fast soggy fish .waitress picked up milk jug that had been lying on another table then as we were eating she started to sweep under all the tables around us then our table. Hope I wasn't charged for all the stoor that was flying about can't even give one star 👎

Where do I start , ordered large chips , weren’t large , delivery was 1 hour 30 mins and to top it off they delivered my pizza to somebody else . Never ordering from here again . Absolute shambles

Great family run establishment sitting in or just for a take away. And all the staff are friendly, fish tea is to die for ,and they make a rare cup of tea , especially if you had a night on the tiles,a good cuppa always cures the sore head.keep up the great work.

15 years ago i stayed right across the road from this place. I used to pass the owners in the night after my work and they would be locking up. This went on for a couple of weeks until one night I came home at the usual time and they were still open, so I stopped in for food. Most nights after that they were still open when I was getting home from work at late o’clock. Eventually one night the lady told me she had noticed my mad working hours so was staying open an extra 5 minutes in case I wanted fed once I was home. Wasn’t until over a year on after I’d moved away I realised who they were- the kindest most humble people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing… and the foods absolutely class

Always a decent fish supper with vimto. Lovely. Small but busy a favourite stalwart in centre of Paisley.

Good fish and chips though felt a bit rushed and things like oven cooked pizzas were unavailable. Children's menu is pretty basic and had nothing my daughter would like.

Being a coeliac and able to get a gluten free fish supper is such a treat. Castelvecchi did not disappoint. So great that they can cater for my dietary needs. Go for large option well worth it!!

Whenever I visit Paisley by air or by rail, this is the first place I stop to satisfy my craving for fish and chips. Reliably crispy, flavorful, substantial portions and reasonably priced. A warm atmosphere where the locals gather to share stories. Alfredo (owner), David (cook) & Jackie (server) are great company. I feel like a welcome member of the family. Great conversations with Alfredo about family, music, Italy, motor bikes, Scotland, foraging mushrooms and history.

Just left a review on just eat but going to leave one here as well absolutely amazing takeaway no problems whatsoever 2 times have used this takeaway and both have been fantastic 👍👍

Best chips ever and lovely cuppa visited from London for last 15 years to Glasgow and finally made it to Paisley lovely place would defo visit again. Jumped on train from Glasgow Central only took 10 mins. and town is lovely.

Absolutely delicious. I always visited with my mum so started a new tradition bringing along my husband and kids. They all really enjoyed their meals, great big portions and very tasty. The lady who served us couldnt have been more helpful, she was lovely and welcoming. Will definetley be back with all the family soon. 5 star service ❤

Took my uncle in for fish and chips .when we both decided to have sausage egg an chips . instead.with bread and a cup of tea .not had this in a long time.OMG how much did we enjoy it fantastic .

Visited while on a day out in paisley my wife always mentioned we should go as her mum worked there when younger .Felt like a proper old fashioned italian chippy .Food was excellent i had the fish supper and the portion was huge and very tasty .rest of the family enjoyed theres and all the plates were empty .staff member who was dealing with us was friendly and helpful will love to visit again

Usually order through just eat as this is the only place we know of the definitively doesn't cause a reaction for my partner for gluten free food. We had 2 suppers (1 gf) and a kids meal. All were lovely and the lady that took our order told us that the GF will be no problem and just after we could hear other staff mention using separate frier. Staff were friendly and place was nice and clean. Good prices which were cheap for the good quality. Will pop in more often now

Orderd online at 5pm got confirmation that order would be hear for 6, then changes to 6.15, its now 7.06pm and still have had no delivery. Definitely won't be ordering from hear again !
