Fabulous breakfast with quality ingredients.

Good points - good table availability upon arrival on Monday 17th June. Clean and tidy. Good choice on the menu. Food was cooked speedily and very well. Food was delicious! Thick bacon, yummy sausages, fresh bread... So good! (2 breakfast baguettes and a full English). Portions were a very good size. Very nice tasting coffee and the latte was perfect, not too milky and didn't need an extra shot like some other places. Prices reflected the good quality of the food too! A large choice of cakes which look fantastic, but I didn't try any. The slate decorations were nice and the photography on sale gave a nice touch of local scenery. Points to improve on (personal opinion) - Paying 80p extra for alternative milk is an injustice to those with lactose intolerance and vegans alike. A litre of oat milk in the supermarket is £1.50 so 80p for a small tot makes a cuppa quite pricey indeed! Most cafés nowadays don't charge extea for alternative milks. There is no offer of a free cuppa with a breakfast, unlike some other very good cafes in Swansea county, they're all additional at Cariad. The chairs are hard and upright, uncomfortable for those with back/hip issues. Had to ask 3 times for a glass of tap water, it had been forgotten twice. I like mushrooms a lot, but there was a very large portion of them in my baguette which may put some people off.

We went to Cariad Cafe on Monday and we were really pleased. We used to come regularly when the previous owners still had it but haven't really had the chance since it changed hands. I would like to say that the atmosphere was lovely and I love the interior. The waitress who served us was lovely. She made sure the order was correct, there were no errors at all with any changes we asked for. She even brought my young daughter a straw completely unprompted. Staff that do little things really make a good business. The breakfast was delicious. Really good ingredients and well cooked. I felt that for the quality and service you get it was well priced. My sister came with me for the first time and was also impressed and would come again (she only goes to the best,ha). Really enjoyable time and even better that the park across the road has been done up and is fab for the kids. Xx

Really lovely place and food well you could just tell the quality was stunning. Lovely interior amazing and friendly staff. Defo recommend. Bit pricey that is my personal preference but you get what you pay for. Thank you all.

Banging breakfast and excellent service.

Breakfasts very overpriced, 1Welsh breakfast plus1small breakfast cost £21.75 excluding tea or coffee. No egg with the Welsh Breakfast, Cockles were the tiniest I've ever seen and so were actually tasteless, and I feel they shouldn't have been picked being so small. I wouldn't visit the cafe again, grossly overpriced and overrated.

By far the best breakfast I have had in Swansea in a long time

Disappointing visit to this quiet cafe . I put our breakfast order in and after 15 mins , just before my husband breakfast arrived a waitress came over to say they were out of avocado. Why did it take that long to look in the fridge ! Anyway i had to quickly think of something else as they'd brought out my husband breakfast. (Which had snotty eggs and unpleasant beans) So I had an poached egg instead of Avocado. Would have liked to have been warned sooner to have more time to decide. They did not offer a refund as there was a difference in the price . I didn't say anything as wanted to see if the waitress would rectify. But they didn't. Staff very downcast and not that cheerful. Atmosphere flat. Used to like going to Cariad under the previous owners . Shame . This area is missing a decent cafe.

Didnt know this was here, just happened to see someone else go in. So popped in on a Sunday morning for tea and coffee. Very busy little cafe. Lots on offer and the food prices were very respectable. Lots of nice cakes to choose from.

The Cariad is a little gem of a place . The are one of the best that I’ve had . The staff are very friendly and courteous. Will always call in for a breakfast. Well worth a visit.

Nice cup of latte coffee and mocka choca!

Called in for breakfast, a very wet cold morning. Quite basic inside compared to other pretty coffee shops / cafes and was a little chilly. No one greeted us even though it was empty. Gave my order to two young girls at the till who seemed quite nervous about taking an order & I had to repeat several times whilst they had a conversation with each other. Food was lovely and coffee boiling hot. Toilets spotless & spacious. Staff just seem unenthusiastic. Start smiling guys & greet your customers.

I would have given this beautiful little cafe 5 stars but I have only given 4 because we only came in for a coffee. The reason for this is, it is a smallish cafe and there is no menu in the window. We were looking for somewhere to have lunch on our visit to Penclawdd, looked in through the window and couldn't see what food is on offer and the prices. We weren't inclined to walk in, look and possibly turn around and walk out again, so we had lunch elsewhere. Later in the afternoon we fancied a coffee so ventured inside. I don't understand why catering establishments don't put menus in their windows, it really helps visitors to the area to see what is on offer before entering the premises. The coffee was absolutely delicious, the best flat whites we have had in a very long time. Now we know what type of food is on offer and that it is reasonably priced, we shall probably have lunch on our next visit.

Absolutely STUNNING breakfast, the best I've had for as long as I can remember. If you're in the area, go here for breakfast! I had the 'Cariad' with added tomatoes. My partner had a sausage and bacon baguette and thoroughly enjoyed it too. The staff were lovely, food came quickly, not baby priced.. perfect

Lovely cosy cafe with a great fried breakfast (I was super happy with the veggie sausages which were excellent!). Amazing hot chocolate too. Great staff and service. Free parking opposite and a park for the kids. Cannot fault the Cariad Cafe!

Great local cafe. We had coffees and Welsh cakes but the selection was amazing and cakes looked great too! Coffee was 10/10.

Dreary atmosphere, with fairly poor service. The young lad being the best of the bunch. Food only fit for a rather substandard old people's home. Bland, bland bland. Even the vinegar was bland!

Went in and sat down at a table for about ten minutes. In this time one of the staff cleared tables opposite me and wiped tables. No one came to take my order so got up and left.

The lasagne was one of the best I have tasted. The meal was hot and well presented...a very good meal in a lovely cozy café

Great location and really good homely food

A lovely cafe run by friendly efficient staff. I had a best ever Lasagne with a portion of chips and salad with a coleslaw the meal was well presented and tasty. This is a place I will visit again.

This place was a real find for Sunday brunch, every part of it was excellent! Friendly service, great selection and beautifully cooked food, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Absolute pleasure again and Scott and staff went out of their way to accommodate us and our guests It was fantastic and we all enjoyed The breakfasts were gorgeous and the atmosphere wonderful Thankyou for making us so welcome

Very helpful and obliging, I arrived late but they still served me a superb Welsh Breakfast, well worth visitors trying it. 👍🏻Will definitely go again and very highly recommended to visit the Cariad.

Absolutely brilliant. My daughter is coeliac and they couldn't have been more helpful. My husband and I had the cariad breakfast which was delicious we didn't need to eat to the next day!! Spotlessly clean, excellent service diolch.

Unfortunately, because there was no menu for us to look at in the window we didn't go inside for our lunch and went elsewhere. I really fancied a coffee after we finished eating so we ventured into the café and had the most delicious Flat Whites we have ever tasted. If only we could have seen a menu we would have had our lunch at the café too. When we did take a look at the food on offer it all looked, and smelt, wonderful. I discovered afterwards that there is a menu on Facebook, but you can't always tell how old a menu is on there and also I had no signal when we were outside. We really enjoyed our trip to Pen-clawdd and shall return soon, this time we will have lunch!

Ordered their breakfast today - it came very quickly. Cafe was empty when I arrived but several more customers arrived whilst there. Seemed good value, and good quality produce.

Ordered the large cooked breakfast, it came with 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, hash brown, mushrooms, beans and toast. The bacon was the tastiest bacon I have eaten!! The cafe was outstandingly clean. The staff very friendly. Truly a hidden gem. Carpark is opposite so very convenient. Highly recommend.

My first time visiting this café but wont be my last, breakfast was lush, good coffee, Only draw was staff not over friendly but did there job well. Place was very clean & well organised with a fast service and food was pipping hot.

A lovely cafe with an interesting menu with some reliable standard favourite foods and a few newer vegan or vegetarian options. Very quick service with a friendly smile. Excellent prices in these difficult times. Thoroughly recommend this place.

Amazing breakfast baguettes !!!

We have been frequenting the Cariad Café for weekend breakfasts over the past 4 to 5 years. The food is always piping hot, fresh and tasty. The team are friendly and accommodating. We have tried other places but always return.

Lovely little cafe, alot bigger inside than it looks outside. The was food well cooked and presented. Staff pleasant. Toilets very clean. Took cake home for later the slices were huge. I have paid more for a slice of cake half the size.

They do a Welsh Breakfast with Bacon Sausage Cockles & Laverbread +toast. 👍😊

Just called into see if there was room, suprise there was. So I had a Breakfast Bagette the wife had a Sausage Bagette & to drink hot chocolate both were excellent. The hot chocolate was HOT unlike some places where it's tepid. Will call again sometime.

Called in today for some breakfast. My wife had a large breakfast and I opted for the Welsh breakfast..Wow, both meals cooked to perfection. The quality of the products were of the finest.Cockles and laverbread were outstanding. All coupled with a really friendly welcome and great customer service.If in the area you've got to give this place a whirl...
