Cwtchina Italiana in Swansea

12 of us went for a birthday lunch today. Best Italian food which far exceeded our expectations. I thought I’d been teleported to the Med. Best seafood in Mumbles for sure. This was the best meal I’ve had in mumbles for a very long time. Kath made two birthday cakes for the 2 birthday girls. All staff were super attentive and smiley. Thankyou!

Walking along the prom we noticed the sign. With curiosity we walked over, both huge fans of Italian food we asked of they had a table. They did. The young waiter and waitress were A*, that is how it is done, absolutely flawless in delivery. Starter tiger prawns (deshelled thank you) wow! We were in for a treat! Main Carbonara, healthy size portion, packed a punch in flavour and the salty bacon intensified it. Desert Tiramisu, again a very strong punch of flavour, excellent in how it was plated. 100% will be returning. Other visitors like the table next to us, very kind and friendly, Joy and her Husband were celebrating their 48th Anniversary, not often you chat to tables these days, they made our evening as well.

Impromptu fun, delightful food, great and entertaining staff after a beautiful day on the amazing beaches here. Just perfect, thank you

This place is simply fantastic. I couldn’t think of a single negative of my experience. We came in here on a Thursday evening to have dinner. We were promptly seated, served drinks, and were read out the specials board. It was a lovely touch for a waiter to go through the specials and give recommendations. We both went for a special because of it!! I couldn’t choose between two dishes but obviously had to make a decision. The waiter was so fantastic he brought out a serving of the dish I didn’t choose just so that I could try it (the photo with the red sauce). This was so lovely and genuinely above and beyond. We both shared an antipasti platter starter which was fantastic value for money and featured lots of little bits (and two huge chunks of cheese). We then both also ordered the frutti de mare which was a white whine and tomato based pasta loaded with seafood- and it was loaded. It was beautifully cooked and seasoned, the service was fantastic, I genuinely couldn’t fault this place enough. Overall the price came to £86 for the two of us which is very good value considering having an antipasti platter and loads of fresh seafood. Worth the money and definitely worth the visit. They have fantastic vegetarian options and non fish options. They also catered for a crab allergy. As you can see from the photo, we smashed it all. We will be coming back to try their entire menu!

With apologies for taking a while to leave a review. We visited during our week long visit to Mumbles in early July. This was a wonderful dining experience. We were made very welcome on arrival and it felt like a real treat as the chef Kathy brought and served our food at the table. My husband chose chicken arrabiata whilst I had the Alfredo. Absolutely delicious. He was jealous the next evening as my small appetite meant that I got to enjoy it all over again the next night as I'd got a doggy bag of my leftovers. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

absolutely amazing food. my husband said it’s the best italian he has ever had and believe me that’s a recommendation on its own. we went as a family of 7, 5 adults and 2 kids and 1 of the kids is very fussy and they made her something which wasn’t on the menu. it’s a great little place with lovely staff, and the lady chef came out to check we had all enjoyed our meals. i would definitely go back to the mumbles just to eat here again.

Last Friday we had the pleasure of dining at Cwtchina Italiana in Mumbles a few minutes from Clyne Farm Centre. Opened in 2022, this family-run gem has quickly become a favourite among locals and visitors alike. We were greeted by a warm, rustic, inviting atmosphere created by the friendly staff who made us feel right at home. It was clear from the outset that this restaurant prides itself on providing a personal touch, with the Kath the chef coming out to check we had enjoyed our meal. To kick off our evening, the three of us opted for a refreshing Limoncello Spritz. A different take on the usual Aperol Spritz that has become so popular recently, none of us had not seen it on a menu before. Starters: Arancine: These delightful balls were filled with creamy gorgonzola and spicy nduja drizzled with balsamic and extra virgin olive oil. Each one was a perfect blend of crispy, spicy, gooey goodness. Whole burrata: This dish was a huge starter portion. The burrata was delicious. It was paired with peppery rocket, delicious pesto, and crispy carasau bread (crispy Sardinian flatbread). It was a beautiful combination. Buffalo Caprese Salad: A classic Italian starter, the Caprese salad was a mix of juicy tomatoes, fresh basil, and soft buffalo mozzarella. Simple yet satisfying, you can’t go wrong with a classic. Mains: Pasta Chicken & Mushroom Alfredo: This dish featured long pasta tubes (the name of which we can’t remember!) coated in a rich, creamy sauce made with porcini and chestnut mushrooms, Parmesan, pecorino, and truffle oil which smelled amazing! The combination was luxurious and comforting. Frutti di Mare Seafood Pasta Special: Two of us opted for the special of the day. I had eaten this dish on my last visit, and have to say this time it was even better! The highlight of our meal, this dish was a true testament to the kitchen’s seafood cooking skills. Packed with a generous assortment of seafood, including huge prawns (seriously, they were massive!), langoustines, cockles, razor clams, mussels, and scallops. The seafood was cooked perfectly, and so generous. We have never had so much seafood in one dish! The waiter had to replace our shell bowls twice! Sadly we were all too full for dessert this time, so we ended the meal with a sneaky limoncello! Our evening at Cwtchina Italiana was fantastic. The combination of outstanding Italian food, welcoming atmosphere, and attentive service makes this restaurant a must-visit. We will be back!

I had to write this review immediately after finishing our meal because we were SO impressed by our experience. A good mate came to visit from Liverpool who is well travelled and has eaten in some of the best restaurants in Italy. I’ve also done my rounds and we both said that our meal this evening was one of the best we’ve ever had! Everything from front of house service, to the way the food was presented was perfect. Everything cooked fresh on the night and the owner Kathy who came out to meet us was the only chef in the kitchen! Super woman! Shout out to Luca, Sophia and Stan who were equally as passionate as Kathy in this family run business. Thanks, we will be back!

I called the restaurant at 10am to see if they could accommodate our party of 10 at very late notice. They were more than happy to do so. Upon arrival the team looked after our interests perfectly (10 guys jaded from a tough 3 days golfing). The level of service and knowledge about the menu was incredible. The young man knew everything inside out and recommended certain things for us to try. Being given such fantastic guidance I was then more impressed by the quality and standard of the food and ingredients. Prior, I thought it looked expensive, but the quality of produce was so good that the other 9 blokes apologies for their earlier critique. We loved it and the friendliness and accommodation we received from the owners was superb.

An absolutely delicious and beautifully cooked meal accompanied by a delicious Valpolicella, Limoncello Sritz and Bellini. Wonderful, friendly service and a great atmosphere. We had the BEST evening and will definitely be returning. 10/10. Grazie.x

The food and atmosphere in this restaurant is just amazing! I have visited this restaurant twice. The first time with 4 friends for a small pre wedding celebration. The second time I visited for a surprise birthday for my husband. There were 16 of us in total. On both occasions, the food was outstanding! Large portions of the most delicious authentic Italian food with a hearty homemade essence. We will definitely be returning many times!

Well what can I say. This restaurant is OUTSTANDING. The atmosphere is cozy, vibrant and family orientated. The service was impeccable. Every single member of the team couldn't do enough for us. Very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. In such a busy environment too. The food. WOW. We had seven members in our party and everyone one us thoroughly enjoyed our starters and mains. I had the fish stew which was simply unbelievable. So good I dreamt about it last night! It was my son's 14th birthday and we asked them to bring a cake out, that we provided, at the end of our meal. The staff lit the candles, dimmed the lights and brought the cake out. The staff and the whole restaurant sang happy birthday. Much to 14 year old son's embarrassment! Such a memorable experience. Thank you SO much to all involved.

We had a delicious meal last night with huge portions and extremely friendly staff. It looks nothing from the outside but don't let that put you off! So lovely that the owner/chef came out at the end of the evening to greet and thank each of the diners. We're off alcohol at the moment so sadly weren't able to enjoy the free shots of Limoncello! Definitely worth a visit if you're in or around Mumbles.

What a lovely place. Welcoming and friendly and lives up to its bilingual punny name. We had the house special (Ciopinno) which was superb although defeated us in size. Friendly staff, excellent wine list and overall reasonably priced. The service was perhaps a little slow, but no matter and the tables were rather cramped - they could probably do with 2 or 3 less (they weren't full on a Saturday night). Will go again

My parents and I were given a voucher at Christmas to try this highly spoke about restaurant in Mumbles. We are all foodies and looked forward to something new. Don’t get me wrong the food was stunning and lovely and hot HOWEVER, the prices were just ridiculous. £22 - £30 prices for pasta dishes and too much pasta - not enough filling. We thought Verdi’s was a far push with prices but these are just having a laugh! The decor inside was tatty, chipped chairs and tables, chipped painted walls and a hand dryer in the bathroom that smelt like burning. The water glasses weren’t clean with marks on them and all in all, it’s just not worth the money.

Great meal again tonight. Excellent staff and we received first class service from Francine. Really good wine selection also helped the night along with nice breaks between courses.

Terrible meal. We have been before and the food was great but service poor (forgot starters and very slow). However today the service was terrible 1 hour 40 mins between starter and main. The starter was OK but Calamari was a bit tough. My wife ordered crab linguine and 1.5 hours after ordering she was told they were running out of crab but would add in some scallops. There was no evidence of any crab and the dish had so much chilli you couldn't taste it anyway. My pasta was overcooked with far too much dry 'sauce. The restaurant was staffed by kids with little support/direction. The young girl seemingly in charge was sarcastic as we left.

Love this restaurant… it’s not fast food, but it’s sooo good. Expect to pay about £80 for two with starter, mains and wine. Love the filthy, dirty puttanesca, can’t possibly eat it all, so enjoyed it again for lunch the following day. Mmmm

Lovely little Italian restaurant, great traditional home style cuisine. You maybe put off by the prices, but trust me it is worth it, the quality is definitely there.

What a fantastic restaurant. We popped in for lunch last Friday. The food was first class as was the wine. The portions were large and you’ll never go hungry here. The staff were really helpful and Cath the owner (and chef) came out of the kitchen and spent some time talking to us. Cath makes the restaurant tick and what a lovely lady she is. Five stars from us and we’ll be back without a doubt

Have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and I'm so sorry I waited so long. The food and service were outstanding! Sheree (sorry if I've spelt it wrong), and the other front of house staff made us feel so welcome. We all had different dishes, and all were amazing. There was a bit of a wait between courses, I personally like this as hate being rushed. Everything was fresh and delicious. The chef, Kath, came out to check that everyone was happy with the food, despite being very busy as she cooks everything by herself, apparently. Great wine selection, the only thing that would have made it better for me would be some non pasta based main courses, that said, my crab linguine was spectacular 😋 Can't wait to go back!

Came here for dinner with my daughter. Positives were our starters and desserts were very good. Negatives were we had to wait over our hour between our starter and main course. The main courses when they finally arrived were almost inedible due to the amount of salt in them. When I raised this as a concern I was told it was because of the anchovies in my meal but that didn’t explain my daughters meal which was a creamy salmon pasta with no anchovies. I was also told the chef would make the main courses again for us to take away which was odd because why would we want to eat the meal again when we didn’t like it the first time. Also when we wanted to pay again having waited sometime for payment to be taken we walked over to the till. The waitress just handed us the card machine and then went into the kitchen so we were left making payment in our own which felt rude. Disappointed as it was recommended to us by a couple of people and was supposed to be a special meal. It also wasn’t cheap.

Came to Mumbles for the weekend at end of half term to celebrate my daughter’s birthday and she picked this restaurant. We had a wonderful evening: great food and lovely staff, and excellent communications when we reserved. I had a marvellous lamb ragu, my son the fruits of the sea pasta, my wife a mushroom tagliatelle and my daughter a tomato pasta. All delicious and large portions! Enjoyed some lovely wine and cider too: recommended!

Wonderful authentic Italian tucked away in the shoreline hotel. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable team and the food is absolutely superb. From the salty focaccia to the fish stew - heaven on a plate!

I cannot fault food or service, both were excellent. I think they limit their appeal by only offering pasta dishes for mains ( plus 1 fish stew ) I do think a manzo and a chicken dish would add the appeal needed for wider audiences. That being said I love pasta and I loved the meal I had.

First time eating here. My wife's mother is Italian and cooks lovely food so I know what to expect . I have to say the food here was amazing, me and the wife had the mixed sea food linguini and it was delicious, served piping hot as well . Then we had the tirimasu for desert which again was excellent. All washed down with a glass or two of red wine. I can definitely recommend and we will be going back there in the future. 👍

This is an absolute gem of a restaurant. The food is truly outstanding, and you can tell the hours of preparation that go into it. Everything is absolutely delicious, and just freshly made. Three absolute classics that we had last week were the fish stew with home-made focaccia, the best crab linguine I’ve ever eaten, and an absolutely delicious tiramisu. The dining room is lovely, Cath is an amazing chef, this has now become the best restaurant in Mumbles in my view.!

I had two courses at Cwtchatina restaurant, WOW, I had Mussels starters, it had a garlic, tomato, herb and spicy sauce, it was so delicious. Followed by spicy Tiger Prawns with Spaghetti omg, it was yum. Highly recommended best Italian by miles. Thank you Cwtchatina Italiana.

Amore ! This is the best tasting Italian cuisine you can possibly get - freshly cooked with the finest ingredients - a flavour sensation . We all had the spatial seafood delight and it was simply stunning - packed full of fresh fish - seabass , mussels , squid , with fabulous fresh herbs and garlic - packed full of fantastic flavours . It is fabulous to have freshly created dishes - we even managed to meet the chef Cathy - who works so lovingly to create authentic Italian cuisine - All Of our courses were delicious - the service was personal and really friendly - a smashing time had by all - real authentic freshly created food - thank you !
