Cannons Tandoori in Harrow

Been eating here with my family and in-laws for years now and never had a bad meal.

This was our first time ordering from here, despite regularly enjoying Indian food, and it was very disappointing. The masala looked off and had an unusual taste, and we weren’t impressed with the other dishes either. We’ll definitely be sticking to our usual Indian restaurant from now on.

Great food in a cosy environment. Very good value. Four onion bhajis for £2.90! I've never seen them for that price. Friendly staff. Very busy, so you need to book. We booked but had to wait 15 minutes, which was the only negative. Highly recommend.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever visited. Food was excellent. Nothing seemed to much for the staff. I don't often give 5 stars but this establishment is well worth it. If you live within 60 miles of it you must give it a go

My scores are a little harsh because there isn't the option for 4.5 stars. The Onion Bhaji and Lamb Curry were delicious, and my wife really liked the Mushroom Bhaji. On the other hand, the Chicken Korma was very bland (much better when mixed with the curry sauce). The service was almost trying too hard... I forgot to choose my menu for a while but, even after I had, the waiter didn't come to take our order until I actively caught his eye. He wasn't ignoring us, just leaving us in peace while we talked, except that we were expecting to be (politely) interrupted. The process are very affordable, even when eating in (and are even better if you get a takeaway). In general, if you pick the better items, it is a very good restaurant, but you do have to be selective.

Honestly been here a few times over the last few years. Elvis was brilliant when there but majority of the current staff are rude. Went here for my 28th birthday only on Saturday. Booked in advance for 10 people. Got there on time but was rushed with everything. I didn’t even get to take my jacket off and get comfortable before I was asked what I wanted for food? I didn’t even check the menu? There was a family of 8 waiting for us as our food had just got out of the kitchen. Seemed to me like they double booked. Poor service, decent food but VERY quick to take our money. Also got asked if we wanted to leave a tip for the service which we laughed about as it was so poor. Like I said not all of the staff but the majority of them were rude.

Such a traditional feel to this well established tandoori restaurant. Ordered three different dishes to share with family but the flavours were very similar which was disappointing. Its a very popular place notwithstanding tye somewhat curt service. It's OK. Parking also not easy.

1st time back here in 20 year and it was suprisngly good - The restaurant was packed on a Monday night and we were a table of 12 which is never going to be easy for any restaurant - but all the food was great, hot and moreish - only slight quibble were the prawns used for "king prawn puri " hardly 'king" prawn - I'd hate to see the size of regular prawn Puri !

Food is always amazing, and the service is even better. Love coming here for dinner. Tends to be busy so I usually book in advance.

Great service by dedicated staff. Good was overall average. Atmosphere was good as this is not a loud place. You can actually talk to people in your party without having to scream like some places I could direct you to.

I've been here many times over the years and for me it's always been a bit hit and miss. Yesterday was probably one of the worst Meals I've ever had starting with the poppadoms which had 4 what seemed fairly fresh then one stale one at the bottom of the pile which I complained about explaining that these cost pennies so why bother. For my starter I had a Tandoori lamb chop which turned out to be sragg of lamb which is not a lamb chop and I should know as I've been a butcher for 43 years.we also had 3 different meat Currys for our mains and they all tasted the same even the rice tasted stale. The side vegetable dishes were inedible. We had 4 beers 1 coke 1 desert and the bill was £140. My friend eats there every week and swears by the place. I thought it was awful.

Delicious food. You can appreciate the different sweet, spicy and slightly sour flavors... Its colors describe the diversity that can be found in Indian food. We ordered delivery which the service was super fast and good. The food arrived in good condition. I leave you the names of what we ordered: -Meat Samosas -Raita -Poppadoms -Chicken Korma -Chicken Dupiaza -4 Naan breads -Chutney -Pickle mango Thank you!!!

Disappointed with the food. The mix grill seemed to be drenched in food dye however apart from seekh kebab tasted ok but for a mix grill was a very small portion, the veg curry was not nice, it was too thick, given 3 stars out of respect given they tried their best

Cannons is our favourite curry house, we always choose this venue for celebrations and have been attending since 1986... and hope to continue many more years to come. The staff are kind, welcoming, very friendly and professional, well turned out and take huge care in their appearance and thus the standard of service. Food arrives quickly, is always fresh and delicious... never have had any complaints. Ambiance is lovely, plenty of seating. Recommend choosing a booth at the back which is quite romantic. By far the BEST chilli and mint sauces you'll get. Advise to book, is it much more enjoyable to eat in and taste the food as it is piping hot. Really recommend for a great night out!

Not impressed. Having telephoned in advance to enquire whether they open for lunch, I made a reservation. I even rang to confirm the booking the day before, only to turn up on the day and be told the restaurant was closed due to works in the kitchen. No-one had had the courtesy of telephoning me to advise. The waiter then reluctantly allowed us to take a seat inside with a view to the kitchen possibly being up and running in a short while. I walked in and was amazed at how unwelcoming a demise this restaurant actually is and promptly left. It should be condemned.

The food was very good and presented well. The only thing i didnt like was because it was so busy, people were listening to our conversation. Other than that it was good.

I have been eating here since 1985. Consistently great for 37 years. The owners are without doubt the most hospitable restauranteurs I have met. I imagine that I am far from alone in eating here over several decades. I now live overseas but every time I am back I visit and have a lovely evening.

First time trying Canons Tandoori the food was really delicious definitely top class food also along with the service. The food was cooked very well hats off to the people in the kitchen. Nice and relaxed atmosphere and also very clean. I would recommend trying going to eat at the restaurant well worth it

I ordered on deliveroo after a recommendation from a friend who says he always orders from here and is first class The food arrived cold although that was only the start The food was awful, very poor quality leaving an after taste Some of the dishes did not have any flavour at all Will never ever order again from here, terrible

Forgot how good the food and service was. Been a long time since we visited but will do so again shortly.

Nothing special about the place and far more better Indian restaurants in the area. The food was very average and the place lacked any atmosphere and needs a refurb. Don’t get me wrong I will happily eat GOOD food at a run down restaurant, but this was very basic. The naan for instance, I’ve had better supermarket ones 👎

Booked a table for 8pm got to the place and was ask to wait in a tiny corner. I asked the staff serval times about the table and I was told I will get my other waiter to check. After 20mins of waiting I gave up and walked out. Whilst waiting I notice dishes like prawn cocktail been served in a Indian restaurant. Can't be Indian then ! The food seems to be catered for a specific market and taste, DONT GO HERE if you want a good Indian ALSO the Other Reviews seem fake

First time here and the best curry experience we’ve had in years. Food was amazing and service out of this world. Attentive, polite and friendly they went above and beyond. Elvis & Faz looked after us brilliantly. Will be regulars from now on.

Went to this restaurant for the first time last night. Smaller than I thought. But once you are seated they can't do enough for you. Food was delicious service brilliant. Nice evening.

It was a few months ago that I tried this restaurant but I can remember that it was an excellent meal out. Everything was full of flavour and our hosts were attentive. Definitely the best Indian in the area maybe even London? ;)

We reserved a table for 5:45 but reached 10 minutes late due to traffic. When we arrived we were told that we have to leave by 7:30. I went with my partner and my 5 year old daughter. There is no way we could have finished everything staring from ordering till finish eating by 7:30. They should have told us if you come late you will be given a deadline. They completely ruined my evening. And the gestures one of the waiters was making is just so disrespectful. Will never recommend and will never go again. 👎

I hadn't been to the Cannons Tandoori restaurant for many years as I lived near there, many years ago and it was my very favourite Indian restaurant & I am happy to say, I wasn't disappointed. Very enjoyable meal with excellent service. Our group of 6 had a fabulous time.

A perfect British Bangladeshi curry house!! If you like dishes like bhuna, madras, tikka masala and karahi then this is the place. Very nice lamb karahi. Much much better than so many punjabi restaurants which make heavy oily and (not really authentic dishes anyways) greasy curries. Canons dishes are tasty and light. Excellent dal tadka….reminds of Indian dhaba’s. good naan. Biryani definitely needs a lot of improvement. Not their best of the dishes. Excellent service team. Special thanks to Ahmed! Overall a great local curry house. Always busy and highly recommend to book in advance for the weekends.

The best Indian around, some come close, but this is always a treat to eat and enjoy

Would have liked to have given a better rating, but when you order a curry you expect it to have some kind of chill heat to it. Ordered medium hot madras for 6 people and I would say that i couldn't taste anything. Did ring up to complain but he tried fobbing me off by saying That was the flavour. I wasted £90.00. If they were anyway decent enough I would have thought a meal on the house next time. Won't be ordering there again.

Rice was burnt, biryani was burnt, naan bread was burnt, had to wait long for the bill and comparing to many other Indian restaurants I visited, portions were smaller and more expensive. In fact Special rice and tandoori special is exactly the same thing but with addition of a bit of dry, overdone meat. Very disappointed, will not visit again, Stanmore and Queensbury are full of Indian restaurants offering much better dining experience.

Food was nice enough but nothing special beyond your usual Indian fare. Best dish was probably the tandoori salmon (off menu). It's a very claustrophobic restaurant, and not all waiters are wearing masks, and those who don't will often come over and talk right in your face, which isn't very COVID friendly. Under normal circumstances I would have probably enjoyed it more, but it was quite a stressful dining environment and they could have done a better job at staff training.

This is a good local restaurant. Nothing I'd want to photograph or shout about but nothing bad either. Certainly covid friendly and plenty of choice. Tasted fine but not memorable.

My visit to the Cannons Tandoori was my first to a restaurant since lockdown. Food delicious and service very attentive. Social distancing measures were in place as was hand sanitiser. Felt very safe. Thank you to all at Cannons Tandoori.

Always an amazing place to eat. As soon as you are through the door you are looked after like family. It is a very small and intimate place. The staff are fab and very good at recognising customers, even if they have not been for a while. Food is always fantastic and we are always sufficiently fed and want to be rolled home after eating. Would recommend for family dinner, group of friends or even date night. X

This restaurant caters for an older milder english palate that is new and unfamiliar to real Indian cuisine. It’s not bad, but it doesn’t deliver the orchestral symphony of taste that a good Indian can bring.
