Café Beermoth | Craft Beer Bar in Manchester

Extremely disappointed with the experience at this café due to the rude and unprofessional behaviour of a staff member. My friends and I had only been seated for about 10 minutes while deciding what to order when a man who appeared to work there abruptly told us to ‘GET OUT’ if we weren’t going to buy anything immediately. When a short TikTok sound played quietly from my phone, he referred to it as “annoying” in a very condescending tone. When we politely explained that we were planning to order and that his attitude was inappropriate, he dismissively said, “You are not customers.” His tone and words were extremely disrespectful and degrading and he came across very racist. To make matters worse, the gentleman appeared very unhygienic and had a noticeable body odour, which was off-putting in a food environment. The entire encounter left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. It completely ruined our evening, and we left without ordering anything due to how we were treated. I would not recommend this café based on this experience and sincerely hope management addresses the behaviour and hygiene standards of their staff. Response*** We had actually scanned the menu upon arrival and came in based on a recommendation from DNA VR, who suggested we could come by for a coffee. We also chose to sit upstairs where it was completely empty, so the claim that we were disturbing others is simply false — there was no one around us to disturb. Our review is not a personal attack — it is a genuine reflection of our experience. However, the hostility we were met with did feel extremely personal and completely unprovoked. You could have chosen to speak to us with basic decency, but instead approached us in a hostile and aggressive manner. Looking through your responses to other negative reviews, it’s clear you have zero accountability and prefer to belittle customers rather than accept any feedback. This kind of unprofessional behaviour only reflects your lack of customer service and basic etiquette. Considering your physical presence and size, it’s even more uncomfortable that you’d choose to act in such an intimidating and unnecessarily aggressive way towards two customers just sitting upstairs. It’s sad and honestly pathetic. If anything, you should reflect on your own conduct and why you feel the need to assert yourself like that. Kindness costs nothing — and in your case, it seems to be in very short supply.

The staff member we dealt with was extremely rude, racist and extremely unhygienic looking. Would not recommend Reply to their response: As you can see they have a foolish attitude towards customers. Instead of telling me to 'get out' if you had politely mentioned buying my drink I would have done so. You would have found out that we were waiting 30 mins to use the VR across the road and wanted to get our coffee 10 mins before we went, hence why we did not order yet. We sat in an unoccupied separated space so taking videos of ourselves is not as issue. As for the sound coming from our phones, we were sat right next to a speaker and may not have realised how loud our tiktoks were playing and they were only playing for about 2 mins max. Again if you would have simply asked us we would have happily obliged. Mentioning not looking at the menu, when I scanned it and found what I wanted within the first minute of sitting down further shows how ignorant you are. You have a disgusting attitude and not once have I ever been spoken to in that way. I appreciate you may be struggling for money and are desperate for me to order something but next time show a some patience and demonstrate some professionalism.

This was a really nice craft beer place. It's not a café per se, but it has a very chilled vibe overall. More variety of ciders would make this 5 for me.

Great beers on tap and in the fridge

Went in for my birthday with a couple mates of mine, got a pint, had one sip, and thought it tasted off as it tasted like blue cheese. Asked my mates on their opinion and they all agreed it was off. We all drink a fair share of Ales and beers and we have worked in bars ourselves so I feel we know what we're talking about. Asked to switch it out for something else but was told I would have to buy a new pint and that it was supposed to taste like that. 2 women working behind the bar were very unfriendly and hostile towards my group, maybe because we were younger? Who knows. Disappointed more than anything else, I really was excited to spend the evening there but, in the end, decided to move on.

One of my favorite pubs in the world. Good beer, good music, good seating, professional and friendly staff.

Saturday 1st March 2025 This Manchester and craft beer house today is the first time I've ever been in a friendly pub with tonight a great clientele inside The staff informed that numbers 6 to 12 were real ale ale we drank number 12 brewed by Trak. This is a great real ale and craft bar when in Manchester

Cool industrial themed bar with a wide range of craft beers and ales. The serving staff were also very helpful, recommending other places nearby for us to try.

'Beer par excellence' is the word in this tucked-away bar. There's nothing the proprietor doesn't know about beer, and there is something for everyone without any hint of the elitist stuffiness one finds in some places. In the enormously unlikely event you can't find anything you like on cask/keg (and they DO keep cask beer very well in their cold room), they even have a small fridge full of joy in the corner. A compulsory visit every single time I'm in town.

Almost didn't call in as it's advertised as 'craft beer', which as an old real ale fan I consider expensive nonsense for the young and gullible. However they had a dozen proper beers which were excellent and I'll certainly be back.

Vast selection of beers from all corners of the world, to categorise the place as an off-license seems to belittle it some how. Scott and Jeremy are some of the nicest and knowledgeable chaps you could ever meet in regard to hops, malts, brewing and beer. Anyone who partakes of the occasional scoop will not leave disappointed.

If you love craft beer then this is a must when visiting Manchester. A great range of Cask and Keg beers and well kept and served by knowledgeable staff. A nice little range of snacks to graze on whilst enjoying a beer or two in a nice chilled atmosphere.

This is a very nice bar located just off Market Street close to the shops.it isn't far from Piccadilly bus station so is easy to get to.the staff are very pleasant.they have a good craft beers and I was impressed with the lager called Bohemian.there is seating outside and easily accessible for the disabled.a little expensive but worth a visit.

The place has a cool look to it. Elevated tables line the window, low top tables & ample space to stand. The bar is quite long so service from behind the bar is very accessible. Their craft beef selection is first rate. They offer a lot of rotating taps. We enjoyed their nitro stout & table beer. The folks behind the bar were friendly. The place was pretty packed on a Thursday & conversation was very animated. A good destination for quality beer.

So close to the Arndale Centre yet so peaceful and tranquil- a great place to come to escape the rigorous of shopping. Loads of options of both Cask & Craft plus the fantastic bar staff are on hand to assist if you’re not sure.

On a Friday night so helpful. Wanted to try Westmalle cheese, outside of their platter option, they sorted this! Picked up what I thought was an issue with a beer, and they kindly explained why it had winey accents. Sorry for being hardwork, but really appreciated it!

I suffer really badly from hangovers even though I barely drink anything, probably from some additive or the way most commercial beers, ales and lagers are processed. I drank a fair few pints here and woke up completely fresh, it's a game changer.

We tried some nice beers, the staff was helpful and friendly, they recommended local beers.

If you're into real beer then this is a rare treat! Forget the commercial trash you get from typical pubs. What flows from these here taps is liquid gold. In the heart of the city this special tap house will provide interesting options from far afield and genuinely will delight the real connoisseur from amber lagers to chocolatey stouts. Really enjoyed the great service from the polite and helpful waitress.

Not caring about the reason why the customer vomited and taking everyone's drinks away isn't how you're making business. Caitlin was very helpful in convincing everyone not to return saying that it's not her problem why that person vomited. Thank you, we'll never return

While they do have a good beer selection, the atmosphere is very off in this place and it feels unfriendly. They also use those payment terminals that default to asking for a tip - I mean, seriously!? It's an American trend that keeps minimum wage criminally low, and should be absolutely discouraged from becoming normalised over here. It's frankly offensive to be, by default, asked to tip a bar person pouring your beer. It's not a complicated cocktail, it's not table service, it's not appropriate. The management should disable this feature on their payment terminals.

Great place we stumbled upon whilst visiting Manchester, a great selection of craft beers, something for everyone, reasonably priced and friendly staff. Family friendly and plenty of space, lovely atmosphere. Would recommend if you like a chilled vibe, nice people and great craft beer. 😊

Not sure if manager or owner, but such a rude and unnecessarily unpleasant guy served me. With so much choice for good craft beer in Manchester, avoid this place. Nothing special.

This is one of the best places to sample the best craft beers on cask and keg. They also have a brilliant selection of bottles and cans from breweries in the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

Interesting craft ale bar, in the Spring Gardens area of Manchester. Has a good selection of Cask and Keg craft ale. All the beer sampled were tasty and of good quality. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Visited on 2 different Tuesday afternoons, a little quiet, understandable given the time. I'll return on a different day and time to check it out at a busy time.

Cafe Beermoth us a craft ale bar situated on Brown Street, Manchester. There is a wide range of ales, beers and ciders. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to offer help with recommendations. There is wheelchair access but no parking. Suitable for solo or family visits. Bar snacks are available.

Very good pub about 15 minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station. Eight cask beers on handpump when I visited including a stout. Large bar on the ground floor together with a mezzanine. Some seats outside.

I have been there with my wife and brother to drink a beer and eat some chips. Very good beer and only 2 stars for the service because you need to go order and pick up your beer. Basically no service . Anyway we love the beer and atmosphere.

My favourite craft beer bar in Manchester. Serving very special pint, can have tasting before buying. Price is decent, depending on what u get. Some could go up to £7 for 2/3 pint, some £4 for a pint. Environment is chill, best for a pint for Sunday afternoon

Huge choice of draught Ales & Craft & an even better choice of high quality bottled World Beers which are accessed by staff into a walk in, temperature controlled chiller room - all behind glass. Looks great. Reasonable prices & set in minimalist, trendy bar.

Staff prior to 17:00 are always great, and staff are always a joy. On two visits a bald staff member has called us c**ts despite us probably providing most of their revenue for the day. The staff earlier than this were really friendly with us, but this particular guy openly called us c**ts at his first interaction with us. If we were too loud he could've said immediately like most normal humans would've. Despite us being 8 out of 12 people in there this guy decided to openly offend us yet not actually kick us out as if he knew he couldn't.
