One and a half pints the very aggressive bar person said she was not serving me ! Her friends were or had been drinking all night !! Said I was falling asleep at the bar !! Two pints don’t make me fall asleep!! Egressive and embarrassing ! I live in the village and everyone in the bar would say what the hell, the licence holder has a problem!! Will never go back . Been in hospitality 50 years. Should not hold a license I’m just this minute home … Thanks for listening! This person is interesting..

I had a fish tea yesterday and had awful cramps and diarrhoea within a few hours of leaving the place. The pub was empty but would think the food would be fresh. My other 2 colleagues had steak pie, which was a small portion and fortunately their stomach was fine and with us having battered onion rings and I had fish, my only point of complaint is the fish was going out of date. Would not return as my stomach dtill uncomfortable today.

Met here as a midway point for a lunch get together. The pub was quiet with the chef doubling as the bar tender! We all enjoyed a lunch, a very cheesy mac and cheese, boar and chorizo burger, and steak pie. Honest pub grub at a reasonable price, what’s not to like.

Fantastic traditional pub. If you're after "twice cooked chips with garlic and truffle aioli" then don't bother, but if you're after tasty homemade food then this place is a real gem. Hearty portions at an unbeatable price. My parents thoroughly enjoyed their mac and cheese and being vegan, I opted for lentil soup with a side of chips - delicious!

After climbing Ben Lomond my partner and I were famished and in need of some serious nourishment. We noticed this place on our way home and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! The lady that served us was so lovely and very accommodating. We both had prawn cocktails to start and then steak pie and omelette. Both courses were fresh, tasty and huge portions (needed after a 7hr climb) and at £28 for everything including drinks we were delighted! Next time we're up that way hiking we will most definitely be popping in and encourage others to do the same. Brilliant value for money with a smile, what more could you ask for!

Located on the A811 Stirling to Glasgow road. The Buchlyvie Inn is a traditional Scottish 17th century inn. Full of charm and character; {worth the visit just for this}. Home to the clan Crane. The landlord Jim and his wife gave a warm and extremely friendly welcome. We stayed here for four nights in May 2014 B&B, and ate in the restaurant. Home cooked pub food to a very high standard,( the chips are real chips)Many of the local Buchlyvians use the restaurant; which speaks foe itself. We found the Inn an ideal base for touring the Trossachs. The village itself is pretty with outstanding views towards the Grampian mountains. Many local walks and places of interest around. We found the locals very warm and welcoming ;Nothing was too much trouble for us visiting Sassanachs.

We always look forward to eating here, quality and portion sizes incredible. Eating out became a problem when my husband was diagnosed with Coeliacs Disease, the risks too great to eat out at ill educated establishments. Buchlyvie Inn resident chef (Sandra) took time to learn about the dietary needs and experimented with recipes until they are now in a position to offer a fully dedicated Gluten Free Menu which offers many of the same dishes as you find on the general menu. So many places can only offer baked potatoes or omelettes. We can confidently recommend eating here, home cooked food at its best in a friendly welcoming environment.

As we were staying again we headed for the Buchlyvie Inn, as we knew the chips were going to be well worth the visit.I had the prawn cocktail to start, a giant portion, and very tasty, and the homemade steak pie and chips, excellent. Hubby had the chicken skewers and homemade burger. All well cooked, plenty of it and friendly helpful staff. The pub is very traditional, so if you are expecting the gloss of Wetherspoons, I suggest you head to Glasgow, they have 2 great ones there. If you want good old fashioned pub with friendly people, staff who seem genuinely happy to see you and good, honest home cooked food at a reasonable price, then you would be mad not to stop by.

We had visited the Buchlyvie Inn early in the summer and were most impressed with the quality of the food and the more than reasonable prices. The macaroni cheese I had then was quite possibly the best I've ever tasted, and, along with a pint of real ale, I was more than happy! It's not particularly close to where I live, but I was determined to go back, and finally did so recently. This time I went for the ideal comfort food - pie, beans and chips at a mere £5 - with a pint of Ambrella beer from Everard's Brewery in Leicestershire (£3). Again, I thought both the pie and chips were exceptional (beans are beans!), the service friendly, and the real ale perfect. I'm sure I'll make a third visit before too long.

A bit smelly, food was average but perfectly edible. Staff were nice and the kids enjoyed the play area. This place needs a good clean, New carpets, redecorated, toilets improved and the outdoor area needs painted too. Never judge a book by its cover, so we tried this place out... A drunk spilled out the door on entering, gave my wife his best 'alright doll' and a wink. I read this as a good sign, they obviously put out the drunks! We are on a tight budget, so we play it safe when visiting a new place. This means I ask for water so I can buy a coffee after meal. They gave my kids water, but were not keen to give the adults water, and it was awkward asking a second time. We had four mains: 2 macaroni and 2 spicy bean burger and chips. We all liked our meals and the chips were home made, a nice touch. Given the state of the place.we were pleasantly surprised and the waiting staff seemed genuinely interested in knowing if we enjoyed our meal.

I looked everywhere, even called out hello a few times. Absolutely no response. Fed up, we got up and left. Poor show Buchlyvie Inn! Your food may be good but you must surely lose a lot of passing trade if you are not on hand to greet customers. It did not feel like a welcoming restaurant, something we very much needed given the wet conditions outside. At first we thought we made a mistake when we walked in and we were the only customer, we were seated in the lovely restaurant next to the bar and given our menus, our drinks were brought quickly and our order taken. Well what can i say, the portions were very large for the price and very tasty, the jalapeno started, which i ordered was excellent. We then both ordered scampi with home made chips and salad. I visited The Buchlyvie Inn with friends recently and it terrible from start to finish. First impressions weren't good as it was clear the restaurant hasn't been decorated in many years and it was very cold but we tried to keep an open mind. The staff were pleasant enough but the food certainly was NOT! The so called 100% Aberdeen Angus burger was poorer quality than a McDonald's burger. The homemade chips were greasy yet dry and tasted of nothing but oil. The salad was soggy and the coleslaw purple. As well as this the kitchen is situated next to the seating area so the smell of the deep fat fryer filled the restaurant every now and then. We ordered 2 chocolate fudge cakes for dessert which were just chocolate cake with chocolate sauce poured on the top. Worse than this though, was the 2 hairs found in each of the cakes. We immediately stopped eating and then saw through the kitchen door, a dog's bowl! The hairs may have been human but looked more like an animal's. We will never be back!

Contrary to previous reviews, I thought it was good value at £8 for each main dish plus £2.90 for the curry sauce. Jim Genuinely friendly service and a very welcoming feel to the place. It was a takeaway we had, but you have to go into the restaurant to order, which had a pleasing ambience. Next time we're in Callander I think we'll dine in!

Bring earplugs! Food fantastic, although if you order sweet and sour, you recieve a thimble full. Staff don't return to tables for you to order more either. Staff were more interested in carryout and delivery service. Perhaps the restaurant should not exist. Saturday night is busy, but if they are so successful, perhaps employing some one to answer the phone would be advised. It rang CONSTANTLY when we were there, so 1.5 hours. We couldn't hear ourselves speak. Staff standing beside it didn't even answer it. We had to seek out our own bill at the 'bar', and it was thrown at us. At no point did ANYONE ask if we needed anything else, if we were satisfied with our meal. Sad really, the money is their own driving force.

A bit wary following other reviews, but we really enjoyed the meal. Simon and his friend were welcoming, some trays were low, but they straight away filled them up. Got our choice of nan, etc. We were in cosmo in Glasgow yesterday, and although they had a bigger selection , the quality was equally good. My favourite, the lamb curry and the Tika salad.
