Orderd a take-away, friendly staff on the phone, was ready to collect at time stated, we had a 8mile drive, food was still piping hot, so fresh, tasty and my children and myself all said it was one of the best Chinese meals we have had, definitely eat here again, compliments to the chef, thank you 😊

ordered takeaway & it was super speedy! staff were very friendly & spring rolls were fantastic!! we also got salt and pepper chicken & chips & fried rice & all was very lovely!

Tasteless food and was probably one of the worst chinese takeaways i have had! Also the salt and pepper chips ordered were reheats and did not have any taste to them at all. Food was also pretty expensive very disappointing

Arrived and asked to sit down and wait. After 15 minutes we concluded we had been forgotten about plus it looked like the kitchen was on some kind of panic. People lucky enough to get a table appeared to be waiting for ever. At this point we have up, left, and got fish and chips elsewhere.

Good food, value for money and friendly staff but premises could do with refurbishment. Tables clean but chairs and carpet dirty.

Yes, went for carry out (it's upstairs in the restaurant): there were two ladies in front of me ordering and a middle aged women came over and asked me my order which I began, when...lo! the phone rang whereupon I was ignored and the call answered. At least she then directed me to the other member of staff. I had made the actual effort to go to the premises but was promptly disrespected and ignored for persons unknown out in the wild. Smaller portions and increased price over what I normally pay in the town means the food is about double the cost (£22.95 for one special curry with boiled rice and one beef curry with fried rice). It was served in good time and tasty.

Lovely meal, great service even if a bit pricey, but thoroughly enjoyed by everyone!

We bought a takeaway from this Chinese last night as we are staying in Callander for a few days. We ordered the 10 inch Salt and pepper box. It was hands down the worst thing I’ve ever received from a Chinese takeaway. The chips were soggy and didn’t have any seasoning. The chicken was dry. My stomach was rock hard afterwards. Other items on the menu may be much better but I would not recommend the salt and pepper box at all.

Food beautiful but a bit pricey

We had a takeaway recently from the Chinese Village in Callander. We ordered the 8 inch salt and pepper box which contained chicken balls, salt and pepper chicken, spare ribs, spring rolls, salt and pepper chips and sweet and sour sauce. This was very tasty. We also ordered chicken satay on skewers, chicken noodle soup and crispy seaweed. We ate it all and I would recommend this Chinese restaurant if you ever visit Callander. It fed 3 of us for £27 which I thought was good value for money.

This was our second visit and we really enjoyed it again. The food is hot and fresh and the service is good.

Went here on a Saturday afternoon the town was very busy but this place was dead no smell of food at all no one else at any of the tables . We asked if they did a business lunch answer was no what a shame we looked at the menu it was a case of you would have to order everything separate would have been an expensive lunch so sorry to say we walked back out wouldn't recommend this place ( lots of stairs to climb to get in and out as well )

Food was delicious and the staff were lovely. Portion sizes were more than enough. The interior was a bit outdated and the staircase area leading up was a bit unkept… but never judge a book by its cover, the politeness of the staff and the quality of the food more than made up for it.

We Usually get a take away and its always amazing, I would recommend the Singapore chow mein, also the breast of chicken curry 🍛 curry sauce is to die for , its always excellent and service when collecting is great , I would recommend to anyone

Just ordered our regular Chinese takeaway for a family guest. Was expecting the delivery to be around one hour, and after one hour asked the restaurant if the food would be still delivered, they assured me the driver was on the way. At one hour and 15, I called the restaurant and asked if the lady could kindly check with driver how long he might be. She then said he’s on the way, he’s on the way and insisted even though I had politely requested if she could check with the driver. She then proceeded to put the phone down on me. Second call was answered by same lady and left on the counter with no one talking. As the only Chinese in Callander maybe they accept this kind of rudeness for their local customers. I however, won’t be ordering from Chinese Village, Callander again.

Food was lovely, massive portions. Would have preferred if there was a lunch menu/smaller portion available. As this was lunch time we went in and had spent more than planned too.

As brian said, totaly shocking service. Told 45 minute, then after an hour and a half wait. We phoned and asked where our food was and told it would be ANOTHER 45 minutes. Ended up at the tasty fry. Very friendly and served right away and food was excellent AVOID this chinese place. They couldn’t run a raffle.

We come to this restaurant everytime we are on holiday. The food is really nice and tasty. Worth paying for. Service is quick and staff are friendly and welcoming. This time we were at the restaurant last Sunday and Thursday. If you like Chinese I would recommend this restaurant. 👍👍👍

This was my favourite Chinese. I travelled 1hr 45 minutes to this restaurant. I won't be back. I had a carpet beetle crawling on my place mat then I looked in the windowsill next to me to see more.

The food was really nice however it's very pricey for a Chinese and I'd have to remortgage my house if I lived and ate here all the time. The service was good and the restaurant is not like any I've been in before and I liked it so yeah worth a visit just do it on payday 🤣

Called here for a takeaway last week whilst away for a break. I always find that Chinese never compare to your own local, but this place broke that theory. We ordered 3 meals beef and blackbean, chicken vermicelli, chicken and prawn in oyster sauce with cashew nuts (they forgot to put the nuts in hence the 4 star sorry but got to be honest) salt and pepper chips and spring rolls. We were there about 5ish parking is a public car park at the rear. and only had to wait about 15 min for our order. It was cash only but there was a tesco across the road with an ATM so no issue. As said food was really tasty and plenty of it. Beef was tender and flavours good. The salt and pepper chips were really nice, none of it was greasy. Definitely a place I'd visit again if I was in the area. Wish it was closer now I know its better than my local.

Fantastic takeaway of the highest standard delivered to strathyre lodges very quickly.

Food was good but was disappointed to find out we paid double the price for everything because we dined in. £62 for 2 soups, 2mains and 2 bottles of beer. Next time will takeaway.

Lovely food, takeaway seemed busy enough. Staff friendly, but the restaurant Is freezing, small heater directed at our table but not enough to warm us up. I understand times are hard, it's a large restaurant, if you can't heat it, partition part off and heat that and use that for customers.

Stumbled upon this restaurant. It's a good place with very pleasant staff who looked after us. The food was lovely but twice the price we expected to pay.

What a fantastic discovery, who knew that you could find such truly wonderful Chinese cuisine in Callander. The staff at Chinese Village were charming and very helpful when I ordered over the phone, my order was ready on time and I wished I'd stayed to eat in the restaurant as the atmosphere was fantastic, very clean and nicely decorated. The food was delicious - having spent time in China I have a high bar! Extremely flavoursome whilst not being greasy - the most common mistake, great value and generous portion sizes. I would recommend Chinese Village to anyone who asked without hesitation, and wish this fantastic establishment all the best.

Thought we would get a takeaway from this place as we were staying in the area. Best Chinese we’ve had in a long time. We opted for the salt and pepper box and it was great for the price. Food was tasty and not greasy like other chinese restaurants we’ve been to before. Would definitely recommend and visit again

The lady who looked after us was lovely. I loved the decor inside, it's really unique. We both thought the food was really tasty. We shared black bean veggie chicken and salt and pepper tofu and both were great. Food came quickly and we received a free calendar as it was a few days before new year ❤️

Worth this visit, my partner & I had a lovely meal here on our visit to Callander. I would highly recommend.

Tasty but pricey. £65 for two Chinese meals, I'll give it a miss next time and have a pizza.

Was here on holiday for a week and wish i had ordered a takeaway before. Great tasty food although a bit saltier than i would have liked hence the 4 stars. Defo worth a visit if you're in town.

On arrival staff where very abrubt, the carpet was sticky and dirty, damp patches all over walls, moldy and cold, ceiling dripping. I really don't know why health and safety haven't shut this place down.i will be calling health and safety. This is a enter at own absolutely FILTHY

If ida wanted a vegetable curry I wld have asked for one. I asked for curry sauce & onions... AND certainly not peas.. think this dump needs a visit from the environmental health.. the chicken also tasted sour ..yeeuk. won't be back at this soup kitchen...oh ps the ribs are good.... Well maybe the peas were put in by mistake.. since you say u were very busy.. I don't tell untruths I give an accurate & true opinion in every review & I think your customer services skills are deplorable calling a customer a liar.

Good food and staff were very helpful, I wasn't expecting the restaurant to be as good as it actually was, three of us ate there, one being a vegetarian and we all really enjoyed our food and all was eaten, the waitress that served us was very helpful, we would have eaten there again only this was our last night in the area, well worth a stop.

Super impromptu find 😊 Super tasty, good portions and fair pricing. It got quite busy so I'd recommend booking. First floor only so not good if you can't manage stairs. Ladies loo is downstairs, gents upstairs.

The food was lovely, the staff where friendly. We turned up at 8pm on a Saturday, they served us but we did feel like we had turned up late despite people being served well after 9:30pm. Nice chinese food.

Beautiful crispy chicken in batter with sweet and sour sauce. Soft fried noodles was cooked to perfection (some takeaway/restaurants) tends to have it drenched in oil. Will definitely come back again

The restaurant is at the top of steep stairs. When we were going up there was an elderly woman who was really struggling to get up them. The restaurant itself was in dire need of a makeover. We were seated next to a window the window ledge was thick with dust and the inside of the window was very dirty and grubby. The red carpets were stained throughout. We ordered sui mei for a starter which came on a plate with nothing else. Most places put it along with a small salad and dipping sauces. We had to ask for soya sauce and were handed a bottle of I don't know what because there was no label. The main courses were fine. The staff were friendly. I would describe this place as a no frills restaurant. We were disappointed and would certainly not recommend or return.

First time ordering from here, our order was a pick up and it was very and the staff were very nice. Our food was amazing, very nice indeed, we would eat/order from here again.

Excellent delivery, we were staying in Invertrosachs estates and food was delivered hot, fresh and tasty. Absolutely brilliant food delivered on time and hot. A great delivery service and would highly recommend. Food was outstanding.

Best Chinese dinner I've had for 20 yrs..Must have a traditional chef as it was superb.Decor and carpet dated,but I went for food,not disappointed.Went next night as well.

Visited this evening and ordered the 10 piece salt and pepper box for £17.50. The restaurant was very clean and well presented inside. Was met by a very pleasant lady and gentleman who took the order which was ready within about 15 minutes. Despite a journey back to Lochearnhead which took about 20 minutes the food was still hot. We both thought the food was absolutely delicious and large portions for two people. The chicken balls, salt n pepper chicken, spring rolls and ribs were delicious as was the fluffy fried rice. The curry sauce was a large one and was nice and spicy but not too much not to forget the spicy chips which we're plentiful and lovely. I forgot to order prawn crackers and they gave me some to take but wouldn't take the money for them which was a lovely gesture. Overall very happy with everything and would definitely visit again.

Lovely place. The owner was really nice & friendly. No food unfortunately through the week at the moment. Serve food at weekends. He is looking for a good chef though. Toilets are on the same level as the bar. Car park at rear plus outdoor seating area. Now called the Riverside.

One of the best Chineses' I've had. Great going with more people so you can try more. The sweet sour and black bean sauce were my favourite. Chow mein and fried rice were great. The duck bao buns were absolutely superb and probably could have eaten 10 of them but would have filled myself up. Love the atmosphere and staff!

We had visited these place today with kids and I must say they handle us very well very helpful Kind and friendly staff we had even a chat with the serwer she was amaizing from start to finish the food was really lovely definitely will be back again when in callender the Best chinese restaurant we been too 100 %, recommend this place :) 😀 😃

Best Chinese we've had (me and the Mrs) Mix starter for two we could have had 10 of them they were great. Sweet and sour Hong Kong style was awesome we will definitely be back amazing food 5 out of 5

We ate here on the first night we arrived in Callander. The food was quite excellent, service very good and the place had a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, when we tried to return here a few days later on our trip, the owner/boss (who was not there on the night we ate there) turned us away because we didn't have a reservation claiming there was nowhere to seat us, despite the restaurant being about 80% empty. We didn't argue and left. We tried again the following day, the staff tried to fit us in somewhere, only for this 'boss' guy to show up again out of the kitchen. One of the staff asked if there was somewhere we could sit, he initially said 'yes, there should be', took a look at us, presumably recognised us and was suddenly like 'uhh, no we can't.' Again, many empty tables, and from our dining experience the first night there were no COVID distancing restrictions as a family was on the table next to us. I'm knocking off two stars as a result as I'm really not sure what this guy's problem was.

Excellent meal and very friendly and helpful staff. Certainly recommend.

My wife and I had the most amazing meal , great food,relaxing atmosphere, and great staff , chicken dumplings a must try, I've tried chicken chow mein,from many restaurants, but I have to give 10/10 to the chef , will definitely be back 👍

Just had a very nice meal at the China Village in Callendar. Tasty beef curry , not tough but perfectly cooked with a Honey chilli chicken and fried rice with salt and chilli chips between two of us. Very fast and friendly service. Foid was very good indeed. I would highly recommend it if you are in the area.

The service in the restaurant was fine but the food left a lot to be desired. The dumpling starters were nice but the seasonal Chinese vegetables in garlic sauce that I had ordered as a main was really poor. The "seasonal Chinese vegetables" consisted of pak choi, onion. spring onion and a tiny amount of carrot - that was it! The sauce was very gloopy - there seemed to be a lot of cornflour in there and the texture became quite unpleasant, especially as the whole dish tasted the same with nothing interesting going on. I just felt that it was a total waste of money and really disappointing as we haven't been out for dinner in such a long time because of lock-down.

We, stayed at Laggan View in June and had a lovely takeaway from here. Hopefully we can experience the restaurant in September when we are back for a week.

Had an evening meal on a Sunday whilst on holiday . Food was lovely . Served by a lovely member of staff who took our order . Food was quite quick but was obviously freshly cooked . Both the duck staters and the mains were delicious . Would definitely recommend giving it a go

Phoned in order on a Tuesday night was told it would be 40 minutes wait! Was more than a hour! They were out the door in the restaurant and for takeout! The food was delicious flavorful and hot so well worth the wait! Next time in callander we will be back!!

We have visited twice during our stay and so happy both times. Amazing food and amazing service. Would highly recommend. They are very busy with takeaway and the restaurant but we didn’t have to wait long. Excellent and worth a visit! Sad that it is so far from home to visit in future!

When we first arrived, it took ages before staff even acknowledged us. Got our drinks served quite quickly, but waited half an hour for starters. After finishing the starters we sat and waited for our main course for 40 min before we decided to ask what the delay was. We were told there had been a mistake and that we would get it soon. 10 min later, still no sign of our main course. We asked again, and got told it was getting made now. Another 5 min later and nothing. All other tables were getting their mains, even tables that had arrived later than us. We decided to leave and asked to pay for what we had drank and ate to get an attitude from the young man behind the bar. He tried to charge us for the meal we never had, but we refused. Just a terrible experience all together. As we left the food arrived and did look good. Just a shame it didn’t arrive in time for us to enjoy it. At least we could have been offered to get it away with us free of charge. Must I add, we are a couple that NEVER complain, so for me to walk out and write a review, it must be really bad. Everybody makes mistakes, but then you should at least do your best to make up for it.

Had an extremely tasty meal here, very accommodating as we had not booked in advance and the food was excellent. My wife has many food intolerances and the order was taken with every sympathy, understanding and most importantly accurately conveyed to the chef. Everything was cooked to perfection, all the dishes were extremely flavoursome and well presented, the shrimps in particular tasting full of flavour. Very reasonable prices too.

Great first experience, awful 2nd experience. We were staying in Lochearnhead and came here twice for a takeaway. First meal was lovely but expensive. The meal we had last night was absolutely awful. I had chilli and honey beef and the portion was pathetic . The sauce was like sugar water. Absolutely disgusting and it was just short of £8

visited while stopping over in a nearby hotel, we had the mixed platter, dim sun, bao buns, chicken curry and pork char sui. food was of excellent quality so fresh and flavoursome best chinese style pork I've had, value for money was excellent as was the service received tonight. highly reccomend

Had a nice early dinner one week day. Very good service and nice food, as well as big portions. Plenty of king prawns in the respective dishes as well as good size prawns. Would go back again.

Poor quality food, very expensive for what it is. The service was pretty bad, cuttlery wasnt clean, nobody in other than us so no atmosphere. Definitely wouldnt recommend and wouldnt go back.

Ended up here at the weekend on a spur of the moment trip. Food was good but more importantly the staff were very friendly and helpful. I'd be very happy to go back based purely on my interactions with the staff.
