Brother Marcus in Islington

We went to this restaurant on the recommendation of my friend who had been there several times. And I can say that everything we ate was excellent. Sitting by the window can be very nice, especially on quiet days. The prices may be a bit expensive compared to other restaurants, but it is worth it.

We went for dinner and food was delicious. We had some calamari, chicken, aubergine, halloumi, all really good. The service was the best, a lady really helpful and friendly.

Our 1st time at Brother Marcus and definitely our last, are drinks came out 10mins after each other I wasn’t a fan of the hot chocolate in a glass cup and came with no spoon to stir as well as my food coming out lukewarm! Staff was informed and there was no apology but they told us they took off our drinks as a courtesy.

The harissa eggs were divine, the coffee was great, and the staff were lovely

We had the most amazing wedding day (lunch meal), and truly can’t recommend Brother Marcus and their Angel team highly enough. We actually chose it after just one meal — we were wowed by the food, service, and beautiful décor (and when they found out we were venue-hunting, they even treated us to a glass of champagne — such a lovely touch!). The space itself is stunning: perfect for a cosy, intimate London wedding. We had 40 of our nearest and dearest, and it felt just right, although you could have more guests spread across the two rooms.The team were fantastic — so attentive, professional, and genuinely warm and lovely throughout. They were also so patient and kind with the little ones zooming around the restaurant, which didn’t go unnoticed and was so appreciated! Comms in the lead-up were super easy with Diana, who took the time to really listen to what we wanted and helped us curate the perfect food and drinks menu based on their new spring offering. They were brilliant with allergens and dietaries too (my mum has coeliac and we had a few fussy eaters, myself included!) — they went above and beyond to make sure everyone was catered for. Now onto the food — wow. The flavours and presentation were unreal, the portions so generous, and for the price, the quality far exceeded it. They even managed to squeeze in my favourite dessert (the ice cream-filled baklava sandwich — oh my), which was such a treat and so memorable. All our guests commented on how delicious and special it all was. The venue looked magical on the day: beautiful pink walls, warm lights, plants everywhere, wooden furniture, and elegant, simple table settings. Ulke and her team took all the stress away, setting everything up just as we hoped with my sister on hand, while adding their own artistic touch. They handled every detail — from layout out our place cards and menus to tea light candles, signs, even filling bud vases with water ready for our flowers. They even calmly took delivery of a last-minute emergency wedding cake the morning of, after our original one collapsed in transit! Nothing was too much trouble. They let us drop things off the night before and collect them the next morning, which made everything feel easy and relaxed. Planning a wedding really was the most stressful moment of my life, and knowing the venue had it in hand, was such a huge relief, we really could sit back and enjoy our special day! The whole day felt special from start to finish, and we feel so lucky to have celebrated in such a beautiful location, looked after by such a brilliant team. The perfect balance of being attentive, but not too much, and never leaving anyone with an empty glass! If you’re looking for the perfect spot to compliment the town hall, look no further. Food was ok but definitely not great. Portion size is quite small, especially for the fritters. Coffee is very average. Nothing tragic about any of those, but definitely does not justify being on the pricier end of brunch places. I will rather go to various other places around that are better in all of the aspects.

This is our second time visiting this place, and we were very satisfied both times. When it comes to food, our top picks include the rip and dip platter (you can choose three dips; we went for roasted beetroot hummus, fennel tzatziki, and smoked aubergine baba ghanoush); from the mezze section, pan-fried halloumi (the fried halloumi was made with a sweeter sauce on our previous visit, and I believe the fruits used in the sauce vary depending on the season; during our most recent visit, it had watermelon, though we preferred the sweeter sauce from our last visit), crispy aubergine skewer, and crispy calamari. Their desserts are also really good, and I especially recommend adding pistachio ice cream when you order dessert. Compared to market prices, we think their prices are very reasonable.

The food was delicious, especially the crispy bacon which I would recommend to anyone visiting this part of the city. The chilled beans were unusual but I'll try anything once! Service was pretty good, next time I come I will have to take advantage of this and make numerous off menu requests. We sat outside, which considering the levels of pollution in London explains my rating of the atmosphere as three of five stars. Sorry to take that rating so literally, but I am a strong advocate of the ULEZ scheme which will improve the lives of Londoners #GoGreen

Wow!!! We were blown away by the food and the service. So many interesting flavors... We loved the Beetroot Houmous, Smoked Baba Ghanoush, Celeriac, and Kofta... to name a few of the dishes. And then to end the meal with the Baklava Sandwich... It was a dining delight!!! Also, a special shoutout to the staff working there... with a special mention of A K. We will be back!!! (This could be our new favorite place for food!!!)

Mehmet was great and very friendly. He did a fantatsic job catering to our allergies and ensured we had a good experience throughout. The breakfast was delicious and the coffee was delightful.

Average. Unexciting menu - I had sweet pot fritters which I wouldn’t recommend. Honey grapefruit Bellini was nice but completely flat so no Prosecco in it. Good service. Genuinely left hungry having spent £30 and all I could think about was getting home & having some toast. I wouldn’t return or recommend.

I had the opportunity to get to know this place from the heart of the place, i.e. from the kitchen. A Greek place where there is no trace of Greek in the kitchen, which means that no one has any idea how the kitchen should function. Very poor quality products, people working in the kitchen have no idea about basic cooking when it comes to fresh fish or meat - they ruin everything. Chefs from Banggadesh cooking greek food. in the evenings there is no person responsible in the kitchen because the chef only works in the morning shifts in the evenings people put out terrible food. I do not recommend them in any way the food is very poor quality as far as the chefs are concerned their heating level is at the commie chef or LESS level and as for the floor it is very unfriendly and fake. The set menu is wildly good and well priced. My mum recommended this place to me and she was RIGHT.

From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. They were so attentive and friendly throughout. The food was absolutely delicious. We have been here many times and will keep on coming back! But honestly, it was the service that really made the experience stand out. Lovely food, lots of great gluten free options and tasty vegetarian dishes. We ordered the dips and a selection of mezze. The menu was explained well by the team and service was efficient and friendly.

Searching for a local breakfast place on a Sunday morning we discovered this place, having passed others around London before. First time visiting. Quite busy at 10.30 already. Found a table, friendly service. Food arrived super quickly but was disappointed by the actual size of the portions. Given the price, which wasn't cheap and almost double what I'd ordinarily pay for such a simple breakfast, I was still hungry afterwards. £15 for two small pieces of bread, two tiny poached eggs and smashed avocado seemed rather expensive.

Really lovely place for brunch and great service. I would say the portions are slightly small. Other than that a really lovely time

Really good place if you go as a group as you get to try many different dishes. We got a selection of mezze including the feta chips, the rip and dip platter (I can recommend the tzatziki), baked beetroot, charred celeriac (quite good) and the cryspy aubergine (which was absolutely delicious ! ). For dessert, the baklava sandwich was very tasty and filling. Despite being mezze, some of the dishes like the beetroot could have included more food as it was really small for the price. The staff was varied. Some poeple were really nice and professional while others would take our plates without asking or letting us actually finish our dish, forget our orders or let us order drinks, etc.

I’ve been going to Brother Marcus for brunch for over a year now and the Harissa eggs bang (would recommend!). The service is always great too, especially Rhys who has served us multiple times :)

A special place - the passion in the recipes, cooking and the dining experience really shines. The dinner "chefs choice" selection was just perfect and we are looking forward to returning for what is sure to be an amazing brunch. This is one of my fave places ever! The food is such a clever take on Mediterranean food and so inventive. The flavours are taken from classic cuisines such as Turkish and made into such lovely modern dishes. If you book a table, be sure to sit outside to watch the world go by!

Food was quality, great value for filling dishes. The sea bream was meaty but light and the halloumi with prunes was excellent too. Highlight was AK serving us, we didn’t have a reservation but he got us a table and looked after us so well. Great recommendations and a dessert on the house too. Really top quality place and service

This is a well-known brunch chain in London. The food quality is very good and the portions are generous. It is recommended if you want to eat brunch, but sometimes you need to queue up, so it is recommended to make a reservation in advance. Sometimes there is a shortage of manpower on site and a little patience is required.

All of the dishes we ordered were delicious! A great atmosphere to share a meal with friends. All the staff were friendly and helpful and we look forward to our next visit.

Overall the food were good but the portion was small considering the price. I had the fried chicken with potato pie, it tasted fantastic and I love the sauce. However it’s around £16 for just one piece of chicken and one potato pie with two eggs. Honestly I’m not full after this meal and have to go near by shops for snacks🥲 Plus the size of cappuccino was also bit crazy compared to other brunch in London…..

Food was nice, but staff were better. Particularly, Ash was extremely helpful and he gave us advice on different flavours of the desserts, which was our highlight: peach and olive oil cake with *pistachio ice cream* (we don’t like coconut)
