British Oak in Dudley

Visited on Friday for what we expected to be another lovely meal and start to the bank holiday. Staff as always polite and helpful unfortunately, though the food this time fell well short of the mark, I went for the chilli which I felt was a microwave job and my wife went for the steak with BBQ topper which was clearly just salsa, we did ask the waitress who advised the supplier had changed. Think we will be looking for a new local unfortunately when we are looking to eat which is a shame.

Haven’t been to the British Oak since 1982 food was great drinks were great stuff was super friendly. My only complaint was cleanliness in the toilet and to be fair. There had been a lot of kids in there that day however, I just think this is something they could keep on top of Other than that was a pleasure to go and spend a night there

Absolutely love the funday today.. such a great atmosphere. Kids loved the bouncey castle and the BBQ food. Well done to the staff

We come here every week. Always welcoming and friendly staff. They have a good varied menu. The food always arrives quickly and has always been excellent. Would definitely recommend a visit.

whilst up visiting family we decided to go for sunday lunch, there was one girl behind the bar with large ques. There seemed to be three or four other staff members taking food and the ones taking food kept having a go at the one behind the bar making her seem very stressed and upset

Great food great service will be returning there was a party of 20 and foodcame out was niceand warm and no kne had to wait for theirs all came out with out any thing wrong

We ordered two sirloin steak both were over done and had a metallic smell to it which was off putting.We were asked if everything was OK, my wife said she wanted her meal replacing,mine was covered in peppercorn sauce by now so I carried on eating mine but my wife asked if she could have her steak replaced. The waitress came back stating there was no more steak so had to choose another option from the menu. Plus the first drink had to be taken back to the bar as the beer was off but was replaced by another beer instead.

Service was great Ryan behind the bar so helpful will be visiting again when in the area

Come and play bingo on a Tuesday night, the more the merrier. Have a good laugh with the bingo pensioners. Food is put on has well, much appreciated. So thanks to the British Oak keep the good service up.

This pub is friendly, every time we come it’s a nice experience. Always have a great service by all but mainly from Chloe. Don’t need to ask and knows what I drink and always smiles, laughing and joking when I come in

We attended mid week therefore quite a quiet atmosphere hence given 4 star for that but that's not of any fault of the pub or its staff. Staff were very accomidating and food was very enjoyable and of I'm honest we were very well surprised. 👍😊x.

I attended a fundraising event for Ravens Rescue. The atmosphere was nice, the decor was lovely and clean. The member of staff at the bar was friendly. They were advertising Easter events for the children, so my impression was it's a family-friendly pub.

This pub is lovely and has some nice beers to choose from, the staff when I come in are friendly, nice, attentive and polite especially Courtney.. makes our visits awesome

Had such a lovely experience at the British oak pub Sam the bar staff was superb and Jordan the chef cooked yummy food

We stayed here for two nights in the carpark in our motorhome. Phoned first to check if it was ok and Lisa the landlady said it was no problem. The staff here are so welcoming and friendly couldn't do enough for us. The food is superb and good sized portions. Can't rate this place highly enough

Was very busy but managed to find a table as didn't book in advance as we should have. Excellent service ordering in the app. Food was great and good value. Stayed in the bar after the meal for another few hours.

My mother and friend have recently visited the pub for lunch on 12/03/25. They were both impressed with the standard of the food and service they received. This made possible by the service of Ryan who was professional and friendly making it a great experience.

Booked an evening meal for family of 5 a couple of hours in advance on a Saturday. Restaurant was well laid out, lovely and clean, lots of families in there but not rowdy. Nice genuinely welcoming atmosphere .There's an outside area to let the kids have a play while they wait too. Seating was comfortable and plenty of space. We ordered starters and mains. All starters came out together within a few minutes and mains followed in a really impressive time too. Good portions, freshly cooked and even the little one ate absolutely everything. Came in at around £35 a head and we had 3 courses, additional sharer sides, cocktails and 2 drinks each. Everyone told me we have to come back and try more of the meals! Thank you for a lovely meal.

Lovely carvery, lovely staff lovely Pub. Forward booked as we had a wheelchair user with us. Staff were lovely very accommodating, very friendly. Sunday Roasts were lovely 2 x chicken and 1 x beef. Generous and very well presented. Lovely atmosphere, we will return.

Excellent good and service didn't rush us to leave the table and as we had over ordered we were able to borrow a plate and dish to take the food home which was beautiful. As promised I returned the plate and dish on Monday

We attended after school for world book day! Great friendly service as always. Children ate for £1 and got choose their own story book to take home from a great selection. Food all came correct and all meals enjoyed!

The lady working the bar was very nice , the food came fast , the chips where not very nice , which is weird as it's hard to go wrong with chips , the burger was OK , All around very expensive for what it is , the pint of San Miguel was fresh and tasty, live football is nice

Absolutely fantastic experience! AS ALWAYS! Cant fault this place at all! We tried the kebab and chips from the new menu, and it was nothing short of sublime—perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and so satisfying. We also had the steak and a fresh salad, both of which were equally impressive. The food arrived hot, fresh, and delicious, with every bite packed with quality and taste. Excellent service and a great atmosphere too. Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be back!

Really lovely service from the team. Millie and Holly made sure we were looked after throughout the whole meal. Friendly and approachable in answering any queries we had. Food was also lovely, compliments to the chef. Thank you once again. See you next time

Great pub atmosphere great food and beer and great staff

The staff were welcoming and the service was good throughout. The chef in the kitchen even came out to query an order to ensure it was correct as there were lots of changes to the dish from the menu. The lady, who may have been the manager, was polite, smiling and friendly during the whole service. The food was cooked as asked; hot, served promptly and well presented. The toilets to the rear of the restaurant would benefit from a bit of a freshen up but this didn’t impact our experience- just more of an observation.

A group of eight of us have celebrated a birthday tonight and we all agreed it was a brill night, the food was lovely and the two girls who looked after us were true stars, their names are Millie and Holly, we can't recommend this place enough we will definitely be going again, thank you girls for looking after us xxxx

Nice pub with friendly staff and good food

As regular customers over many years we are beyond disappointed. The last couple of times we've visited, the food has gone downhill and been 50/50 however, tonight was the worst food we have eaten at this pub ever. My chicken was cold, any colder and it would have been chilled. Half my chips were cooked, half not. The other meals ordered were no better. Now at home feeling sick and wishing we'd not given the benefit of the doubt and tried again especially considering this was a special evening for us. My partner was desperate to speak up but I don't like having a scene or any confrontation so avoided this. I did intend on speaking to the Manager upon our exit however, she had a queue of people so I avoided that situation too. Sad to say but we will be avoiding this pub for the foreseeable. For me, paying that amount of money really cannot be justified when the food genuinely is that disappointing. Also, the new 'fries' are a big disappointment. Our meals took nearly an hour which wouldn't have been so bad if the food was actually nice. Furthermore, it has become more regular that items are missing from the plate and you have to then ask for things that should already be there.

Friendly and helpful staff and the food was excellent no improvement needed will definitely return.. Highly recommended..

I won a competition for a Sunday lunch which was nice other than red cabbage 🤣 Dessert was lovely just need more custard!! Service was great very nice and friendly.

Lovely meal for 7 adults and 2 children. Gave us ample room to spread out with a newborn and a 3 year old. Food was great, service good, would definitely recommend.

Experience was spoiled and generally not happy. Out for a family Christmas meal and there was bingo being played - it felt like we had to be quiet as all tables near to us were playing and we couldn’t even talk amongst ourselves on this yearly Christmas tradition. Also my partner ordered the lasagna that clearly stated on the menu was served with garlic bread and salad. There was no garlic bread served and when she questioned the waitress about this she insisted that it was not served with this meal. Overall food was good but the attitude of the staff and the unknown bingo event ruined the atmosphere

The pub has changed since my last visit. The food was extremely good. My mixed grill was very good, just the right size (portion of food). The starter (chicken wings) were very tasty and even the dessert was very tasty and of a good size. Overall the entire party was very pleased with the food served the quality of food and quantity of food.

Thank you so much to the team who ensured our Christmas work do was knock out. Food quality was super particularly considering price. Staff were warm, friendly and attentive. Entertainment was enjoyable and made the atmosphere even better.

The bar staff were quite miserable really, not a smile. A lot of the menu had ran out - no roast dinners, no Mac and cheese. The food wasn't hot when it arrived. It's just quite poor.
