Ate here tonight.... what a meal!! Four of us for my mums birthday. Tom yum soup all round, was extraordinary. Mains... red paste stir fry, jungle curry with duck, duck sizzler sweet and sour, and prawn green curry. All meals were genuinely outstanding 👌

We ate here around new years 2024 and we absolutely loved it! The decor was cute, customer service excellent, the food was YUM and prices very affordable!

Very greedy and incredibly poor service. I placed a takeaway order to collect in 30-45 minutes. After arriving to collect, I was informed I needed to wait another hour (this was a 8:30pm!) before I could even collect it, even though they closed at 9. I asked why I was told 30-45 minutes…being told quite abruptly that they are ‘very busy’ When I challenged this asking why take my order if they couldn’t cope, try to charge me or even why no one called me after I already waited a 45 minutes. The server tried to make light of it suggesting I go to a pub and wait. I told them to stop being greedy. Taking orders you can’t fulfil or creating a hugely negative experience. It was only a meal.. but we looked forward to it. It very much ruined the evening. The staff passed hollow apologies but clearly didn’t care all the time taking people’s money.. Whilst I was bickering with a server.. another 2 people came in, in exactly the same situation as me all furious. I had a similar experience in September where I was told an hours wait but ended up sitting in the restaurant for an additional 30 minutes. The restaurant had quite a negative vibe with lots of customers sat at their respective tables looking fed up.. it seems they are over booking (cash only) and piling in takeaway orders but failing on all sides. From memory, the food was ok. Absolutely not worth the wait. We won’t be coming back and suggest others to go elsewhere

We phoned ahead and ordered a meal to collect. We were told a 45 minute wait as they were busy. My husband arrived 45 minutes later to be told that he now had to wait an additional hour, but they still tried to take the money for the meal. He was advised to wait in the pub over the road, so he could have a drink whilst he waited, as there was no room in the restaurant (which is very small and intimate). We understand that restaurants get busy but to more than double our wait time and not contact us before is not acceptable. We have eaten here before and no takeaway meal is worth waiting over two hours for.

Food was great, amazing staff very friendly and attentive. Overall best place to go in abergavenny.

Have eaten in before and was fine Had take away last week Oh my worst Asian food I have ever had Veg green curry was spicey but sauce like water granted good amount of veg My yellow chicken curry was awful Watery insipid sauce Chicken tasted as if boiled and the only flavour from sauce was salt and more salt Have had yellow curries elsewhere and so much better Satay chicken tough as leather Peanut sauce ok thpugh Sorry to say not good enough and won't use again

Delightful intimate little place up the stairs. Bring your own wine/beer if desired. Cash only, but there is a cash point very nearby. After sharing starters of chicken satay and fish cakes, my roast crispy duck in green curry was delicious! With coconut rice of course. I would go again tonight!

We booked a table for 7 30pm but didn't eat our starter until 45mins later. I didn't really understand the system as it looked like the place closed at 9.30pm and there were lots of people not eating! However, I realised there is a method and the food when it came was absolutely delicious. I would just be wary if you book, especially with kids or ravenous, to take a possible delay into account. The staff were lovely and I enjoyed the whole byo bottle (shop right next door) and cash only made the night a bit more quirky. We had veg tempura and chicken satay starters with red curry beef and veg/tofu green curry - tofu not slimy cooked to perfection 😋

Read previous reviews, obviously have not experienced good Thai food. Travelled to Thailand many times Soi shouldn’t have expected similar food in Abergavenny, however, compared to Sydney my home city, the quality, taste, and cost was what disappointed me. At first I thought this restaurant will be ok. Nicely fitted out, Thai people running it. I don’t need a welcome snap, you can’t buy alcohol and it’s cash only. Two starters, sate chicken leathery with a sauce probably out of a can. The main, overcooked chicken, tasteless. A stir fry should come straight out of the wok, served hot, not warm. It was awful. Looking forward to getting back to my local Thai in Sydney, far superior food for half the price.

First time visit, won't be the last. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, excellent service and a good choice on the menu. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food.

We’ve eaten at a few dozen Thai restaurants around the world, including in Thailand. Excluding Thai food within Thailand this is maybe 3.5 stars, and only 2 stars when compared to the best Thai in Thailand. For me the classic Thai flavors were missing. Dishes that should have a good coconut or Thai basil flavor just didn’t. We get massaman at every restaurant and this just didn’t have the right flavors. Maybe they can’t source good ingredients in Wales.

Wonderful selection of starters, Thai curries and all kinds of other other dishes. Service also really good - and you take take your own drinks with you. Great place.

Our first visit to the Boonta Too but it won't be the last. The food was fresh and deicious and the service attentive without being intrusive.

Regular customer for takwaway as the food is simply amazing!! Especially the green duck curry... Anything with the duck is just divine actually...(honey duck,crisp duck w/chilli & ginger) can never pick. Sit in is also a lovely experience as staff are great :)

We found Boonta Too during lockdown as we tried a few different take aways in town. The food is delicious and always made quickly. The service is friendly and is priced as I would expect. Can’t wait to eat there once restrictions ease!

Tasty takeaway, recently moved into the area and was recommended this restaurant. Ordered the set meal and really enjoyed it. Plenty of food and all really tasty. Looking forward to being able to have a sit down here. Would recommend.

Chose because governent website said in Eat Out Scheme. When bill came advised not in scheme and required full payment as they were not aware they were registered for scheme. Very disappointed to therefore find after their Facebook page was plastered with adverts for Eat Out Scheme. Food excellent but very disappointed by misleading info

Truth is I didn’t expect much because Abergavenny isn’t exactly the Hub of Sophistication!!! 😲🤫🤣 BUT.... this restaurant really is a complete FIND .... authentic Thai 100% ... a true delight .... but book ahead ... It’s a small restaurant to avoid disappointment 😌

Visited today as we are staying locally. Booked our table in advance as quite a small restaurant with short opening times. Very pleased with the menu options and we opted for a slightly adapted set menu. Very tasty food and friendly attentive staff. Thank for a lovely meal

We've eaten from Boonta Too many times. Always the same high standard as my original review years ago - I said then that the food and flavours were like being an honoured guest in the home of a Thai family. Our family includes a well-travelled mid-twenties 'foodie' who is home at the moment - and she's a very knowledgeable supporter of the food and restaurant trade in Abergavenny. Told her this evening that we were doing Boonta Too. She said "It's tough at the moment and they deserve to make it through this. Boonta Too is one of the Gems of Abergavenny". She is not wrong.

My wife met Colin in town today and found out that Boonta Too is taking orders for you to have your favourite thai food at home.So we ordered yellow curry, green curry, Pad Thai, hot and spicy prawn soup with rice. As usual it was lovely.Please support this restaurant and enjoy great food at home.

The food was delicious! Really recommend prawn toast and green curry! Because you can bring your own booze, it works out as a very good value evening out. The service was lovely, very friendly and unobtrusive. I hadn’t been here for a while and I found the overall experience much improved. I had a good vegan meal, and my husband enjoyed the seafood, and we bumped into friends enjoying a good meat meal.

Excellent food and service. Good value for money, had the set meal for two at about £20 a head. Its a byo so took a couple of beers with no corkage. Will go back.

I’ve eaten in many times and have always been satisfied with the quality of the food, last night I had a takeaway and I’m pleased to say the same. I had a chicken green curry (extra spicy) with egg fried rice. The entrance looks a bit tired but don’t let this put you off, plus it’s BYO alcohol.

Went to this place as friends were talking about it I never knew it existed.Such a lovely place. Only downside loads steps but once up the stairs the staff are welcoming and very friendly They dont have a bar but we were told to bring our own drinks Food was lovely and the waitress was superb. Had a dinner 2 takeaway. Starters were really good but mains were overpowered with salt. Underlying flavors were ok but the meal was spoilt with an excessive use of salt. Great pity because it could have been ok.

Boonta Too is a bit of a mixed bag though the good definitely outweighs the disappointing. Some of the dishes we ordered were excellent, with complex, nuanced flavours. Others, like the pad thai, were a disappointingly one-dimensional pile of noodles coated in little more than sour tamarind - none of the delicate balance for which Thai food is adored. Overall, we had more good dishes than poor, and would go again for the beef salad and duck red curry. BYOB a nice way to keep the bill reasonable.

My wife and I had a takeaway which was frankly inedable.The peanut sauce which came with the satay was bland and had no real taste.The green curry had no real thai taste no bamboo little basil or chilli and the yellow curry again little taste and even less potato. The curries had plenty of meat and sauce but little else.The coconut rice had little if any coconut flavor and the fried noodles well less said the better.In all a poor reprecentation of Thai food lack of flavor and far to much salt, would not recommend and will not be going back.

We have not been to this restaurant for many years as the head waiter was rude and put us off from going back.However we left it to friends to book a restaurant and they love this restaurant so a table for six was booked for last night.Ok the entrance is a little dated but once seated the staff were great( the man had left) food was excellent starters varied and a great selection of meats and fish£13.50 for the mains which included rice or noodles.Plenty to eat for cooked well

Authentic Thai food and great service. We had spring rolls & satay to start with vegetable red curry and duck with chilli / garlic for main. We also had a pad Thai & rice for sides. Everything was superb Highly recommended

Great traditional Thai food in quirky authentic restaurant. So many delicious dishes the pad thai is to die for. Personally I stay away from the deep fried food and stick to the more authentic Thai food. Without doubt the best restaurant in Abergavenny plus you can take your own beer or wine

Family meal with my son and daughter in law. Good reviews so we thought we would give it a try. Nice staff and a certain “old time” atmosphere. We brought our own drink as the restaurant does not have a bar licence. Not an issue for us but maybe for others. Reasonable menu selection and the food was delivered in good time. Two is us thought the food was very good but one thought it only fair. Perhaps it was slightly lacking in those strong Thai flavours and hotness. However overall a good night and at least two of us will be back

This place is a little hidden gem in Abergavenny. I had food here a couple of times before and always looking forward the next time. Food is really good and the staff friendly.

We visited this restaurant during our visit to the National Park- from the start the service was attentive and polite. We ordered vegetarian options from the menu - everything arrived promptly and it was all delicious and freshly cooked. Very tasty food. Don’t be put off by the entrance, it doesn’t seem much but it’s a great little restaurant if you like delicious Thai food.

Seriously if you like Thai food or on the other hand never tried it then you need to go here me and my life love Thai and this place is the best we’ve been to the food is outstanding so so tasty and the staff are very friendly. It’s take your own drink because they don’t have a alcohol license but they provide you with glasses ice ect and even clever your cans bottles away ect. Definitely going back soon.

One of our favourite restaurants in Abergavenny. Nice to be acknowledged as a returning customer. Friendly atmosphere and attentive front of house staff. The food was great. Everything from the mixed platter starters to the Duck, the Prawns and the Red curry was delicious. I can say this is the best Tai Food restaurant I have ever eaten in. We will certainly return again soon.

4 of us Went here for my birthday meal and was not disappointed it was absolutely superb 1 of the best Thai meals I’ve had. Food was amazing & very friendly staff definitely returning and highly recommended. They don’t have a licence to sell alcohol but you can take your own and they provide you with glasses billed openers ect.

I went here 2 weeks running. The first meal I had was fair, nice tempura starter and tasty noodles, however the waitress/front house was so sullen it was really off putting, inspite of our best efforts to engage her in conversation she was very rude. As the food had been goodish, i went the following week with another friend. On this occasion the waitress/front of house was even more unpleasant if that was possible, pointing to a table where we could sit, not engaging in the slightest. This time the food was terrible, my main was totally tasteless, the coconut rice was fatty and the tofu was probably the worst I"d ever had. My friend had the pad thai which had ground peanuts with chilli on the side and I love spicy food but this was unbearably hot and completely ruined her meal (i'd sprinkled some on mine to spice it up). Yes its quirky and pretty but the rudeness and on the second occasion the food was so bad I won't be returning which is a shame as Thai is my favourite..

It was closed..? In October 2017..! Not sure if its open now..?
