Best fish and chips I’ve had in London. Consistent and always fresh. Home cut chips and light batter. Always get the mushy peas and curry sauce. Also lovely staff!

Very good F&C!! I also like their battered sausage & chips too!! I love the chips, but the only thing I would say is that the batter has not any real flavour to it!! Need to add lots of Salt & Vinegar!! My go to in Walthamstow should I need to fill my F&C cravings!! 😋😋😋

This place is amazing! My mom introduced me to it due to it being my sisters favourite childhood snack it became mine.😋

Cheated me out of food I paid £27.40 for. I went out Friday night for fish and chips. I hadn't eaten all day and was looking forward to a large CoD and chips. I always buy saveloy for snacks, so got 3 and decided to try a Jamaican patty. I saw him take a large CoD out of the drawer, and he looked round to see that I had seen it. I went to sit down and wait. What I didn't know is that when i wasnt looking, he then put that large CoD back in the drawer and took out 2 little very thin pieces instead - this is them in a 9" lunch container. I don't know if its because I'm a small woman he decided a large CoD was too much - but people treat their families on a Friday night without bringing them all to the chippy, or whether because I bought saveloys that I didn't need a large cod, but he swapped in these 2 very thin pieces (1cm for nearly the whole length and 1.5-2cm at the very top). If you know fish & chips, it's the large flakes of soft fish you get with a large cod that you pay for. This was mostly batter and the pieces were hard and dry, with very minimal flesh. I had been looking for a local chippy for a regular friday night supper and this is 6 mins away from my house so would have been perfect but this is a very dishonest con man. He confirmed I wanted large chips for £5 but I got a normal portion. The saveloy are standard and I haven't looked at the Jamaican patty as yet. Don't go here for your food as it looks like he takes one look at you and decides what to dump on you regardless of what you pay for. No wonder he was completely empty on a Friday night. Never again.

We really enjoyed the fish and chips (and you were right the large and medium portion was too much! 😏) But we had same for the next day.

It's a very nice atmosphere and very good service! A bonus is that the food is very good as well!!! It's children friendly also. It's kind of a small waiting area, though, so if you're not there quick, you will have to stand and wait until the food is ready (more likely if you live far away)

Polite staff, good tasting food. Fluffy chips with crispy outer coating, fish isn't too oily, good portions. Also takes card which is appreciated due to convenience, which is refreshing as other chippys only take cash. The interior itself could do with a slight upgrade, but appreciate we are there for the food, not to dine in A allergy list per dish would be greatly appreciated for those suffering with this e.g. milk, gluten, nuts etc etc

This is the best take away fish and chip shop in the area by a country mile. The portions are satisfying, the quality of the fish, lovely crispy batter and tasty, non greasy chips, all served by a friendly owner and his staff.

Great fish and chips, we'll definitely be going back. I probably won't take the car next time to pick up our order as the roads round there were a bit tricky to navigate. I'll probably cycle or walk. The food was excellent, fish wasn't greasy and the chips were perfectly cooked.

This food is as close to perfection you are going to get it. George is a special guy he is a rarity because he really cares and strives for total excellence and that is just so hard to find. It will he difficult to find better fish and chips than this because the quality is second to none truly is.

This is our first visit back with family in London since COVID from Perth, Australia, staying with my Brother Wilson, and we’re so happy to be able to get Fish and Chips again from Bonners. This is an awesome family business, with great food and service. We look forward to takeaway every trip to London. Grate fish chips mushy peas curry sauce

Friendly customer service that provides good quality of fish and chips, the only issue I had is the fish batter needed a little bit more salt, more salt and vinegar needed on the chips too, and the mushy peas lacked salt as well which was a shame but other than that you get freshly made fish and chips which I liked.

Best chip shop in the area by far. Pure dedication to the craft - no kebab, chicken, etc. Crunchy chips and fish always done fresh. Don't forget to call ahead if it's likely to be busy. And bring cash if you're spending less than a tenner.

Know this place more than 15 years. Couldn't tell that I am regular costumer as popping in two three times a month, but I can say with confidence that they definitely have no problems with customers, and this says a lot about this place.

This place is busy on a Friday but it's worth the wait for freshly fried cod. Nice and crispy batter. Saveloy is good too. Card machine wasn't working so take some cash just in case. There is a £10 minimum order for cards but this is understandable given the high transaction charges small businesses have to pay. Support your local chippy, pay a visit today.

Probably the worst fish&chips I had in Walthamstow. I have tried them twice before deciding on this review, not worth waiting 30 min in line for this. Disappointing

I reckon I've had fish and chips from Bonners more than 100 times over the years, but have never thought to write a review before. Anyway, I got a family fish and chips order as per usual last Thursday (1 large cod, 1 battered sausage, 1 large chips, 1 regular chips: which easily feeds 4 with no leftovers). The fish was amazingly fresh, the chips delicious, and the sausage crispy (the kids love that). Oh, and a curry sauce! It really has to be the best takeaway in Walthamstow: never, ever change!

When you receive fresh fish and chips it is delicious however can be a bit hit and miss as I've received chips that tasted like they've been made hours ago. Also, be weary of the older man (I think he's the owner) I've been coming here for many years and noticed when he serves portions are significantly smaller, he is also cunning and tries to overcharge you.

Proper old school fish and chips

I was looking for an alternative to the chippy that I frequented for many years and I think I've found it! I've tried their cod and chips on one occasion and savaloy on another occasion. The fish was crisp, not oily and a perfect size. The savaloy was nice too, but although the chips are alright, I've had better. On both occasions the chips looked a bit darker than what I'm used to seeing in a chippy. Not sure if it's due to being a bit overcooked, or maybe the oil needs changing more often on their busiest days. I went on a Saturday evening which was very busy. When I arrived, there were about 7 or 8 people standing around outside. Turns out they had already ordered and was waiting outside due to social distancing provisions. When I ordered, I was told that it would be a 25min wait, so I waited in my car and made my way back to the shop after 25mins. But I then had to wait a further 10-15 more minutes for my order to be ready. Regardless, the fish was good enough for a return visit. Next time I'll call ahead to make my order. But the wait time and the quality of chips is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5.

I was most disappointed with our food recently every item was dry and seem to have been cooked hours ago. Usually the food is lovely but on this occasion it was not.

Best chips I've had in the UK, hands down. They've got a solid crunch on the outside while still being nice and fluffy on the inside. I got the battered Rock fish, which was lovely, and we enjoyed the saveloy and battered sausage. Really excellent! And thank you for the recommendation of the rock fish, lady on the counter - excellent call!
