Loved the boba it was cheap and fast with friendly staff in a cute little shop. Both my kids and I were happy with all the different drinks we received. Would recommend

I went in keen to find a boba tea in Dundee similar to something I’d had in London a few months back. On waking in, it was dead and cold, and the woman at the counter didn’t even bother to look up or acknowledge my presence - even though I was literally at the counter and the only one in the shop. Unfortunately, I’m no expert in Boba tea and asked if they had something with a coffee flavour to which the woman rudely poked at the menu and abruptly told me that this is all they had. Her tone was belittling and made me feel like such an idiot. Maybe she had a bad day, maybe she didn’t - either way, I didn’t deserve to be spoken to like this. I didn’t get a drink so cannot judge this, but won’t be returning either.

The drink was nice but the menu was very hard to read. The man spoke very quietly and was hard to hear. Overall it was a very nice shop, I would definitely recommend!

Man at the counter spoke very quietly so I had to ask him to repeat something he'd said at one point. I asked politely and his response was to roll his eyes and repeat it in the same quiet monotone. He was generally very cold, didn't seem like he wanted to be there or be serving anyone. He spoke in the shortest sentences manageable which caused some confusion, so all of this coupled with how silent and barren the shop was made for an extremely unpleasant experience. I could ignore it if it was a one off thing, my I've been here a couple times and it was exactly the same the last time. The three drinks we ordered, which were all the same, took around 40 minutes to make and get to us which is ridiculous, especially as there are no seats or anything and you're just standing there either in an empty shop or with a line of people who aren't talking to each other (presumably because they feel the same about the shop or the employee?) If you don't enjoy your job or if you're just having a bad day I get that, but maybe don't treat customers like you resent them just for walking into your shop? The drinks we got were great, but completely overshadowed by how bad the rest of the experience was.

Went for the first time today with my little sister and the outside looked great as me and my family are fans of Boba! We came into a very silent and cold feeling atmospheric building. The staff who was one Man never really spoke to anyone unless giving the drinks or serving a customer for an order. He barely spoke up and just didn't seem very enthusiastic. When it came to ordering, I could only just make out what he was saying and instead of asking "How warm would you like your drink?" Or "How sweet would you like your drink"... he asked instead "Warm or cold?!" and "Sweet?!". I shrugged this off as I thought based on how long he had taken to make 4 drinks (nearly half an hour in total) I thought "okay it might be worth it" but it really wasn't. He didn't even say "Thank you" or "See you soon" etc but it almost seemed he enjoyed taking his time. I noticed he took some time for a few people's order before and my sisters. He spent 10 minutes making a regular Boba for one customer and near 20 minutes for 3 others. He spent 15 minutes making mines and my sisters. My sister complained hers didn't taste like anything and my brown sugar boba was far too sweet and also bitter. Definitely not worth the £9.50 I spent. That and I ordered 2 regulars and my regular was quite a bit more smaller than my Sisters. What I would say for the future is" friendlier staff, waiting area with Seats if he's taking half an hour or so, more options on the menu aswell as maybe faster making machines aswell as lower menu prices as most came to close to £6 each!.

Always a good experience when you came here. Excellent boba tea any way you like it. The staff run a clean efficient cafe, and it's usually busy.

I was told that this is the first bubble tea place in Dundee and I went to try it out. The staff is very friendly and I took their advise and tried the four season fruit tea and it is extremely refreshing. My wife went for the traditional bubble tea and after finishing her drinks, she bought another one to take away. We have also bought a selection of popping bubbles as a gift for her sister. It is definitely worth a visit.

I am not a moaner by nature, always looking for the positive. Staff were great and welcoming, as were the surroundings and ambience. Limited menu, in my eyes is a good thing as you expect quality to be focussed. However, after two courses came away hungry- I am not a big chap, 5’ 9” 12 stone, normal appetite. My posh prawn cocktail was great, the crispy skin chicken wings, not crispy. Your local chippy would be embarrassed to serve you the smallest piece of haddock I have ever seen, I mean come on Apex, where is your quality control, don’t you want repeat clients? Coffee, what is so difficult about having a hot cup of coffee? I returned it, as it was luke warm, the replacement was also luke warm, why doesn’t anybody warm the cup, I like to enjoy my coffee at leisure, not gulp it down before it freezes over. The waitress kindly discounted the cost, I spend a lot of time in Edinburgh and I have to say, I have a far better dining experience there. Come on Apex, put some effort in and put Dundee on the map. Oh, did I mention £9.50 for a glass of house wine? I never tip when being ripped off by wine cost. Lets get real shall we?

Markets itself as a as a fairly well to do venue however it very much is not. We were a group of 11 for my fathers birthday. We had to order in advance which I imagined should have allowed for a smooth fast service, it wasn’t even close. The mains for whatever reason started coming out with the starters, we sent the mains back. Starters were mediocre. Mains arrived 50 minutes later having obviously sat under the hot lamps of the kitchen pass for the duration so were very much dry. When raised with the server they said they would report it to the kitchen… nothing was done. What was edible was eaten and we waited another 50 minutes for desserts which were also mediocre. We were in the restaurant for 2.5 hrs which is an obscene amount of time for a 3 course meal never mind one that’s be en ordered in advance. The price of the dishes was at the very high end for what they were. It wasn’t busy at all there were around 15 other customers soon no idea what took so long. The place lacks atmosphere. The decor is naff and the choice of furniture is poor for a restaurant, getting in and out of the chairs around the table is difficult and the servers a forced to either lean over you or hand you the plates. The place could do so much better.

So people are asking why this place closed, as it's quite rightly got great reviews for staff service, food, coffee, and general vibe. This was my favourite spot to have a quiet coffee or meet people for a light lunch in Dundee. Basically, the story is that the owner shafted a pregnant employee the day after she went on maternity. He "fired" her and refused to pay her maternity. The staff, having apparently been paid not that great already which is testament to their professionalism given the quality of service, walked out in protest. This was late Spring when the hospitality industry seemingly had ten job vacancies for every candidate, so they rapidly just found other work and Birchwood's workforce simply evaporated overnight. Word got out on Facebook and, especially given the prices, ignited a general boycott of the place through the outrage. I'm unsure if the employee ever did get her *legally required* maternity pay. The last that was being said was that the owner had not only blocked her number, but also HMRC's! A lesson in how a lovely place can come crashing down through the sheer greed of its owner.
