Had a lovely afternoon tea at the Boars head today for a hen get together for my daughter. Really nice food and plenty of it, really good value for money. Service was excellant.Would definitely come here again for afternoon tea.

Beautiful building and interior with stunning original features and period decoration. Lovely atmosphere but could be a bit noisy. Good good and efficient, friendly service. Look forward to going back. Parking was a bit of a pain.

I recommend The Boars Head for its hearty tasty food by Wayne, great staff inc the beautiful Emma, Jan, Will and Steve, home from home pub. It has an excellent outdoor area to enjoy a glass of wine and the sun. Dogs are allowed inside the pub and out, which is excellent for us and our two fur babies. I have been frequenting the Boars for over 20 years and will continue to for 20 more 🥰 Big thanks to you all.

Got to celebrate my Mum's early surprise 80th birthday here all 'Thanks to Wayne' who did a fab buffet. We got to use the back room which was decorated for us and we were well looked after by all the staff. Lovely evening. Thanks so much 🥰

We popped in for a drink back and a chat at 9pm in 2019 but on a Monday they closed at 9pm, the barman suggested that we could take our drinks outside on the heated veranda to drink them as the pub was closing. What a lovely pub with great service... It also has an amazing farm shop in the back!!!

Great little place hidden out of the way, stumbled across it looking for lunch after a shopping trip. Very rustic feel, great beer and fantastic home made food. Would definitely recommend.

Food is fantastic, brilliant quality and good value for money. Staff and owners are friendly, professional and great. Good menu, variation as well. Glad to see this pub still going ss I can remember this location as a child. Overall I would certainly recommend booking for a meal her,very very happy customer !!

Amazing buffet provided for a private event. Plenty of food and a nice range of sandwiches, pasties, quiche, cheeses and cake. An urn with tea/coffee was also provided.

Sunday lunch for six adults and three children. Menu choices were the traditional beef, lamb, turkey or pork followed by dessert if wanted. The mains are available in large or small servings and are good value at £12.50/£7.50. Dessert £4.50.

Sunday lunch... apart from the beef being tender the rest of meal microwaved and tasteless and definitely not very big portions! No starters offered on a Sunday and desserts cheap supermarket microwaved produce. The staff were young and obviously not trained in the hospitality business... wouldn't go there again.

Very nice food and great service by Stephen. The steak and ale pie was one of the nicest I’ve ever had. My main, dessert and two drinks came to £22. Would go again.

Ladies lunch out. Waited ages for drink order to be taken although not busy. Had to call waitress to give food order. No-one asked if we'd like more drinks and had to find staff to pay our bill

11 of us turned up unannounced. We were welcomed warmly and fed an amazing dinner paired with some lovely ales. All served by a very patient and professional waitress. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely drop in. Highly recommended.

What an oldy worldy place. The price of drinks are very easy to swallow aswell as the alcohol. Great outside area for us to sit and its very quiet. We'll visit again

Beautiful Sunday roast would highly recommend

Attractive pub/restaurant with a friendly staff. Bar meals value for money. Had lunch there early December.It was so lovely with the Xmas decorations and a cosy warm fire. But disappointed when a wk later after booking for me and my friends to have an evening Xmas meal after sending them a lovely photo of the cosy restaurant I had had at lunch to find the fire not lit due to painting and the restaurant felt and looked quite cool and a bit uncomfortable. Hope this is resolved now as had booked (before the disappointment) for an family meal before the new year.

This was our first time to this lovely pub, as a freind recommended it to myself and my husband, I must say what a lovely atmosphere, lovely decorated too ! The food was very good, nd the staff were lovely, we even had a tour around ,, definitely be going back , well done!

Was disappointed from walking in to the changes that have been made. ie. The real ale environment. Such a shame. A sad loss. It was a place to travel to for the quality of the ales but alas no more. The bar is now limited to a couple of options and the one I chose was past its best. Maybe because with the lack of enthusiastic support it had as a good ale place it's now flowing as it should. The food was mediocre. A let down.

Looks small from the outside, but there are various rooms, and one where you can have an afternoon tea. There is also a farm shop in the car park, and apparently Sunday lunch is good too.

Lovely meal very big portions. Great value for money. Had to sit outside due to restrictions but all covered up so that's not a problem. Also have heaters if your cold.

Food was very plain, something I could of whipped up from aldis. No sauce on the burger, seems all store bought. Portion size alright, was very clean there and friendly staff just very disappointing food

Had a birthday lunch for 8 on two tables of 4 because of C19. Staff very helpful and pleasant. No set menu but good choice of dishes at reasonable prices.

Well you can't fault this pub in any way - extremely well run, the food is lovely and the clientele give the pub a good reputation.

Warm, friendly welcome. Good wholesome food at a fair price (on Friday night so outside of EOHO discount scheme). Social distancing restrictions and Covid-19 precautions appeared to be being strictly adhered to. Thanks guys. We will be back ~ soon!

Pub with bags of potential. Food was faultless. However attitude of staff was poor. I'd driven up from Swansea for a meal and was asked to leave by 9 pm as they were closing despite website stating Monday closure at 10pm. Quite a few local drinkers still in pub at 9.15 when we left. Wont be returning.

We had an evening here a few nights ago, as part of a large group that was celebrating a birthday. I thought it was OK, but really nothing special. Firstly, the atmosphere and general look of the place (as with most establishments) is governed by its size and shape. This is a really old pub, which means lots of smaller rooms and period features. On the one hand, this can give a snug & cozy feel. On the other, it can feel a little cramped in a crowd and all a bit dingy, owing to the beams and dark timbers. This isn't any more of a criticism as an observation and no reflection on the pub as a whole. The things you can judge a pub on are the food, drinks & service. So starting with the drinks... They have a fair selection of guest ales, ciders & beers, not all of which you'll recognise by name, but all still perfectly palatable pints. There is the usual in terms of spirits and a small wine selection (red and um... white). The average price of a pint was between £3 & £4, which is about the going rate for anywhere around here. The food is definitely where it lost marks for me because I'm something of a foody and it just really wasn't that great. There was a very limited selection of starters & mains (maybe because of the size of the group, maybe not) which was priced at about £4 for a starter and around £11 for a main. To be fair, I don't think this is extortionate, but the general consensus around the table for the selection of dishes ordered was "it's alright" or "it's OK", which suggested that everyone was a bit underwhelmed, value for money wasn't really there and there's little worse than paying for a meal that you know you could do better at home. The definite saving grace of the night was the service. The barstaff, waitresses and all involved were great. I found everyone to be polite, friendly and professionally efficient and they seemed spot on with everything, dealing with the busy periods really well and I think they helped create a better ambience overall. In summary, not terrible at all, just not that great either.
