Absolutely great place to go food excellent staff great couldn't do enough for you prices great too loved it what a great experience

Called in off spec after a day out in Southport ,beautiful restaurant, nice corner table ( table 1 ) we chose a bottle of the house red , which was lovely and not too heavy , and we had poppadoms & dips then fillet steak 🥩, and a chicken tikka masala with boiled rice , absolutely beautiful and cooked to perfection 👌🏼flavours bob on ! Will definitely call again . 😺

There were quite a lot of us eating, but they were very accommodating and if you need a place for a works dinner or large family dinner then it could be a good option as there is lots of room inside. However the food was average in quality which was disappointing but decent portion sizes. The waiters felt as though they were waiting for us to leave even though it was a quiet weekday night. Also be sure to check the bill, ours was correct as I’m sure most are, however it comes not on a typed receipt but a handwritten order form almost, so just be careful. Would go again and recommend but wasn’t the best.

We went as a party of some 15 people of mixed ages We were seated and then it took some 40 minutes before our orders are taken and although we were served with popadums quite quickly the main course was some 1 hour away ,which although good we have had better .The staff although quite pleasant seemed to resent such a ksrge party as they the way they served it was quite aggressive,although the restaurant was full and busy Then when we asked for the bill it again took some 20 minutes to produce Wouldn’t stop us going again but it would be our first choice .

Went to The Elephant for our Christmas Day meal. We all agreed the food was absolutely excellent, whilst the service was also great. They did a fantastic job of looking after our party. That's the second time we've been here, both in the last year and on both occasions it's been great.

Not great! We were charged £60 per head for a Christmas meal here but it was WAY below average. Very small amount of starters and just basic curries and a tiny plastic tub of ice cream for dessert (not everyone got one)... for £60 per head is a robbery! Service was rubbish, VERY slow were family had to go to the bar because it took so long and rude waiters and owner. No prosecco or anything on arrival which we all expected for the price. I wouldn't advise anyone to go here for Christmas dinner again, huge disappointment.

Never again!! Dont waste your money!!! Went for a takeaway meal and just about everything that we were presented with was a disgrace and barely edible. Chips = burnt sloppy awful taste. Apparently it was the potatoes fault (no word of a lie). Chicken chat = pile of onions with bits of flavourless chicken floating around in sauce. (Apparently they always serve chat in a bread chapati) i dont recall mentiong the chapati as being the issue. Onion Baji = Burnt beyond edible value. Pretty much gave up at this point 🤮 Lamb Tika Samba = swiming in fat. 🤮🤬 Poppadoms and dips pretty standard offering but, nothing much to go wrong here. Other than mango chutney tasting like ginger🤔😡 Unbelievable! Nothing but excuses when complaing. The manager did state he would give a £20 credit next time we dine there. I wouldnt spend another penny on this poor show so his credit isnt worth anything.

We came for are tea Wednesday 12 July, a very warm welcome at the door,and seated straight away. It was kind of busy ., Staff are very polite and friendly. We felt welcomed from start to finish, it was so relaxing no rushing you to finish your food ready for the next people, we has popadoms then starters and mains and then to finish of who doesn't like dessert. We had mix Rogan Josh and chicken tikka masala. I would say it was the best curry by far that I have tasted and will differently be making this are new to go please, thank you to the staff for making feel welcome, I 100% recommend you give it a try.

Ordered monkfish,came and half was raw/tough. Guy who came to table said it was how they cook monkfish. I said it is raw. Mains was good thought,Tikka Bunna. Staff miserable, and just going through the motion of serving you. Won't go again

Been here three times and have not been disappointed. Tonight we tried something different, Exotic Shashlik. Absolutely beautiful. Everything was cooked to perfection. Great portions and couldn't fault the service. Thank you. 😁 Look forward to our next visit.

My partner, who loves his curry almost as much as his fishing, has brought me here a number of times over recent years. This time, we were celebrating his birthday and the food was as delicious as ever. Beautiful food and lovely service: I can't wait for the next time!

Food very very good. I think the portions are smaller than previous visits, but we can probably blame the massive increase in food & power costs for that. Service from some members of staff is excellent, others it’s poor. One of the staff who took our drinks order just stood at our table after taking the order, after a little while I asked him if I could help, he said he didn’t know table number…… then proceeded to shout over our table to another member of staff…. Shame really as food was excellent.

My partner and I booked the 1pm sitting for Christmas Day. We decided to have curry off the menu rather than the English Turkey meal that was also offered. We were put in a booth which was nice and roomy, decorated with Christmas crackers and party poppers. We’d already pre booked our food a couple of weeks before and the food arrived straight away. We both had starters, mains and desserts and the food as always was hot and delicious. I really enjoyed Christmas Day at The Elephant, service was great, really tasty food and I’m so glad we booked!

My daughters 40th birthday and she chose a family get together at the Elephant. With 12 of us, 3 generations, aged 2 to 76 our tastes were very different so required a wide variety of starters, main courses, side dishes and breads. We were swiftly taken to our long table, drinks dispensed and orders taken quickly. The Manager and serving staff were very efficient in keeping our drinks topped up and clearing away between courses. All dishes were nicely prepared & delicious. Absolutely delicious. We don’t order take away that often (twice a year) as I’m always disappointed and can cook most things ourselves. But this was delicious and easily comparable to the Indian restaurants in Manchester and London that I’ve been to. We live 10 minutes away but everything was still hot when we got home. Poppadoms, chutneys a plenty, korma, rice, shaslick and rogan josh. Definitely visit again in person and to take away.

The food and service at The Elephant are always hard to beat. We were not disappointed, the food is excellent, the premises clean, well maintained, and the service is excellent.There is hand sanitiser by the door, the cutlery is wrapped in napkins, no cross contamination from other diners. Amazing, tasty food with attentive service. Not visited The Elephant since before lockdown, but have had several takeaways. The food is always excellent, fresh and delicious. Ate in at the restaurant for the first time since February and it was as good as ever. Service was fast and efficient. The food was amazing as always. We had a chicken tikka madras, chicken tikka, mushroom rice, rotis and an Indian salad and everything was delicious. Nicely presented and arrived quickly. Could not fault the food or the service. I have just had a very tasty meal at the Elephant but the evening was ruined by the terrible attitude of the staff. It started with the one menu that was thrown on the table and continued with service that was anything but friendly and helpful. The waiters obviously did not want to be there and could not wait for diners to leave so they could go home. I have never had such an uncomfortable dining experience where I was made so unwelcome. I will not return.

We’ve Been going to the elephant for around 20 years and I have to say we have never been disappointed with the service or the food very friendly staff who would go out of there way to make sure you have the perfect dining experience, during this unprecedented time we have never felt safer to eat here and enjoyed “the eat out to help out” gov scheme on Tuesday it was very very busy but that didn’t have any impact on the quality of food or service the consistency here is second to none very good portion sizes and every dish is always full of flavour, absolutely recommend to anyone with confidence that they will not be disappointed.,

Well we have been here several times and always found it great but tonight was very poor and disappointing and we will probably not be returning. It was busy with folk taking the opportunity to use the rat out help out scheme but that should not make any difference to the quality of the food but my god it did. The starters of tandoori chicken and the elephant kebab were nice, the Masons however were very poor. The chicken thawa was described as chicken cooked with plum tomato’s and herbs and spices but when it arrived it was full of spinach, no sign or flavour of plum tomatoes, whilst the fish was ok it was not what the menu described. The lamb chop curry was served on a cold plate was lukewarm at best and had no extra green chilli as ordered and the chips were budget type with not much meat not recommended at all. The chicken Balti massalla was very very disappointing, it was more like a chicken korma very poor sauce better available at Sainsbury’s in a pre pack! As I said it was busier than when we have beer en before but the secret of a good restaurant is consistency irrespective of how busy it is and this is definitely not the case here. Really really disappointing as we have recommended this place to friends but this is experience has put us off going again.

Absolutely love this place! The food and service are always fantastic! Been coming here for the past ten years and never ever had a bad dish! This year we were lucky enough to win the Facebook valentines competition and even then they went above and beyond to give us the best experience! We had a nice meal here and the service was good. But we did have a problem when we asked for 2 x separate bills, there was 5 in our party and we were told not to come again....so we have not!

Booked a table for 7.30 when we arrived on time no table available, the manager told us you need to pay 5 star prices to get a booked table on time, not the low price he charges. The first time I have heard that as a reason for poor table management. Just be aware of managers attitude if planning on eating there and you have a problem.

My husband and I called in early on Friday evening. The service was prompt and the food was delicious. We ordered our usual starters and curries but I wanted to try something different. I was recommended the Prata. It did not disappoint.

We had a family gathering at the Elephant to celebrate my daughters birthday. There were 11 of us, 3 generations, aged 3 to 73 with diverse tastes in Indian cuisine.We were warmly greeted by the Manager and his staff, drinks dispensed, orders taken then led to our large table to start with pupadoms and pickles (lovely fresh and tangy).10 different starters were served, all served wit h crisp salad & delicious.Soon after that the waiters started unloading the main course onto our table which looked different from what we had ordered - wrong table! so they quickly unserved the dishes and transferred them to the correct table.Our mains comprised 11 curries (all chicken/tikka based of different strengths/sauces) were served with a selection of rices, breads and chips. All were delicious.More drinks, coffees and the birthday cake were served with a 'Happy Birthday' song from the waiters, nice touch and appreciated.Overall, great food, efficient service, all at reasonable cost.*** RECOMMENDED ***

Called here on a quiet Tuesday eve, lovely and warm which makes a really nice change from most eatery's in winter.From stepping through the door staff were friendly but not overly so to cause a nuisance or pester, service was fast and efficient, restaurant and toilets spotlessly clean.The food is where it really scores. some of the best I've had outside of Rusholme and certainly doesn't taste like the same reheated Pataks sauces most Indian/Bangladeshi restaurants serve up.Though the bill was fair given the quality of the food but has the usual outrageous mark up on wines and Indian beers.I'm already looking forward to a return visit

We recently visited the Elephant Restaurant with some friends and have to say the whole dining experience was flawed by the unfriendly attitude of the staff. The food was very good but the waiters had no personality, they seemed unable force a smile and had no empithy with the customer. When we tried to engage with them there was no response. Unfortunately even though the food and restaurant was good we would not return due to the unfriendly atmosphere.

We hadn't been here for a few years, but we were treated like regulars. The meal was delicious and served promptly and I will certainly eat here again in the near future

After spending way too long hoping that rivaj (our other local indian) would pull their fingers out with respect to their atrocious takeaway service (1 hour waits at the bar despite ringing order through in advance, wrong curries, missing naan breads) we have finally found an indian takeaway that deserves our money!

Visited here and so glad we did, I have been before but didnt leave a review this visit I had to, we had poppadums and a pickle tray to start, which I do think most sauces were homemade certainly the lime pickle was, i had the chicken south indian garlic chilli,and my wife had the chicken Balti masala, both very flavourful and well presented i had pilau rice, and chips with the other, with a garlic naan and a few cobras to wash it all down, we will certainly visit again soon I hope, also before 7.30 the early bird is available which is 2 courses from the full ala carte menu great value for money!

I love the food in this restaurant and have eaten here many times. Would highly recommend the food. However after being here so many times it would be nice if the staff where a little more friendly. Don’t get me wrong , no one has ever been rude, but no one ever smiles . It makes you feel uncomfortable when they are serving and clearing the table . Tonight I said to the waiter, the food was lovely thank you and I got no response from him and he just carried on clearing the table .

We’ve been here more times than I can count, and it’s consistently a delicious meal, with great service. Contrary to a recent review questioning the lamb, I had a lamb bhuna tonight and it was so lean and tender with a definite lamb taste - no doubt it was lamb! My other half had tandoori chicken and it was so good he hasn’t shut up about it all night. We will be back....and I’ll be having the lamb

I have yet again had an amazing meal at the Elephant Euxton. I have never had any complaints in the 5 years I have been coming here. I truly believe that this IS the best curry house in Lancashire second to none and have brought many friends here that agree. I give the Elephant an unreserved recommendation.

My boyfriend and I have only been once as it's a little out of the way for us but the food was good and the atmosphere was nice. Friendly staff. We will return if we get the chance.

Me and my family and friends eat here on a regular basis. The food is so good, we've never had an issue. The service is fast and efficient but friendly too.

Well we have been a couple of times with my wife and found all good so this weekend went with wife and friends and again it's all very nice.

This place was nice, nothing much to complain about. Not the best Indian I have had and on the other hand not the worse.

First visit in a while on busy Saturday night.

A return visit after being here last year when visiting Chorley. This was a true find in the middle of nowhere and appeared to be a former pub. The food was excellent as was the service, attentive but not overbearing. Special early bird menu, before 7.30pm for £12.95 for two courses was brilliant, totally stuffed with great quality Indian food, we will return on our next visit to Chorley!!

Visited Elephant last night with my family for father's day we have many Indian restraunts near home but it's well worth the 30 minute drive here as we ve been a few times before and the food and service is always excellent .Arrived a bit late for our 8pm booking and restraunt was very busy and staff were run off their feet with a full restraunt full drinking / waiting area and people coming in for take aways I thought this might affect our experience but it didn't service and food was excellent as always we were even given a complimentary drink at the end which was a nice touch ,thanks to all the hard working staff we had a great night here great atmosphere food and service thank you .

Good place for an Indian meal and is popular on Saturday night. Hoppers as a starter were crisply booked serviced with salad. Usual dishes such as Tandoori Chicken and Tikka Masala were good. Mixed kebab was good but served with too many onions. Worth a visit but not cheap.

Six of us visited Friday night, the place was not really that busy for a weekend night.

Eating out on Mothering Sunday is usually high risk with the number of families gathering to eat, 9 of us (aged 2 to 72!) booked at the Elephant and the service was attentive and swift. Drinks were swiftly dispensed and our order taken.

Disappointing over all. We found the staff quite rude, surly and unprofessional. The food was ok and the portion sizes were good but not in any way as outstanding as we were expecting it to be for the price. The place is clean and the layout is fine but don't expect to be treated like a valued customer.

Called in for an early Sunday Night meal so got the early bird deal. As always everthing was served at the right time and cooked to perfection. call in you won't be dissapointed

It is a while since I ate Indian food the last one being a takeaway about 3 yrs. ago and that was not a nice experience. My wife wanted to eat Indian and suggested The Elephant. I did my research beforehand of the Indian Restaurants in the locality and the Govt. Food Hygiene rating and went ahead with a booking. No complaints with the place or the staff but we were not overly impressed with the food and the evening after dining I was up all night with an upset stomach. My wife said that one of the starter we ate (monkfish) didn't taste right and I ate most of it. Maybe that was what caused the upset. Not sure we would return in a hurry to this restaurant.

Went for Christmas dinner today, Because last time we went it was lovely, have to say the food was terrible today didn't even eat the turkey dinner the Veg was un eatable cold and rock hard. Such a shame because we eat here a lot and it's really put us off. All three of us left r food and walked out not even staying for dessert.

I've been twice now with a group of friends and found the food to be good and the staff friendly, but my, is it cold in there! We all commented that we were a bit chilly on our last visit a few weeks ago, but last night was unbelievable - we were borderline hypothermic! We sat with our coats on, shivering, and my comment to our waiter about the temperature in the restaurant went unacknowledged.

I can't believe these last two reviews . My table was also in on the 25th December 2018, the food was at its usual excellent standard. The lamb thaua with added spinach on extra request was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. Fancastic service, kept our drinks topped up. Defiantly be returning again shortly. Highly reccomened.

We came on the recommendation of a friend. The service was quick and the taking food aware prematurely was inexcusable. The king prawn passanda was far too buttery - there wasn’t a single almond in the dish, I’m convinced of it! When staff came over to ask about it, I did mention it but the old guy in the suit said he would make me something else. I said I wanted a passanda that was creamy and with an almond base. They then preceded to take away all the food despite my friend still eating!

Sadly a dear friend experienced a homophobic waiter here after mentioning the quality of the food so I won't be visiting again.
