Amazing experience staff lovely outstanding service delicious food one of the best in Sheffield in my opinion door comes out fast not a long wait just over all excellent.

Lovely Lunch with Family. Food delicious and tasty. Staff very attentive and friendly. Quiet atmosphere, very clean and the outdoor area looked great in the sunshine. A thoroughly great experience, will be back again. Special thanks to our two waiting staff, who were especially thoughtful 😊

Was very disappointed. Waited over an hr for food .when food eventually arrived pie was hot ,mash and peas was cold .rest of my party wasn't happy with the long service .if pub has only 1 chef .should explain better to guess .ruined birthday treats for my friend and husband

Good traditional friendly local pub. Decent beer selection. Basic pub food selection which is hearty and tasty

The food was ok but not that many vegetarian or vegan options no salad with options like prawns,chicken, samon, roast vegetables, cheese, (ect) I've been to a lot of pub for dinner, tea and they do a separate vegan and vegetarian options even whetherspoos do a lot of veggie stuff no wraps ever or a chose of Fry's or chips. don't get me wrong the food was nice but sometimes you just wont something simple. Even when Ben and John owned the blue bull years ago even they had a salad, with extra on and had a lot of options for veggie and vegan. They is nothing telling you what's in the food and lots of people have allergies need adding to your menu there is no sign up saying if you have allergies please see a member off staff or just ask if you need anything else. A lot of people don't like to ask so it better if you ask first just incase they do have allergies like a member of my family has a nut allergy they is a lot of people now with food allergies. You might not get many people but they could be someone one day who just pop in you never know. Very basic menu. Very expensive for drinks 2 . Ps also no pastas dish on your menu. Pss nice pub though.

Great friendly local pub with an amazing carvery

Yesterday 13 12 24 my wife and myself took some friends for Christmas lunch it was good Quality food hot served professionally plenty of selection atmosphere good plenty of easy parking the owners and staff are very efficient nothing is any trouble. Today 14 12 24 is the Anniversary of Tony and Jaine taking over the pub we wish them and all their staff a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New year thank you 👏

Called in with no booking after a long walk round local area for Sunday carvery. Made very welcome and a table prepared for the 4 of us. Good choice of drinks/beer on offer. We all opted for the 2 meat option. Great value at £13.50 pp. Meats delicious and tender....beef, pork(crackling) or gammon. Lovely well cooked veg, yorkers and scrummy cauliflower cheese. Gravy delicious! A great 'pub' serving fab food at reasonable prices ....can't get any better!

Popped in for lunch on Wednesday. Ordered two "fresh" orange juice, bottled orange arrived thick with ice. Steak pie with chips: streak was tender and swimming in a delicious gravy, chips big and bold, pastry top on pie left a bit to be desired. Scampi and chips with tartare sauce and a wedge of lemon: excellent. Apple pie and ice cream: had been reheated in microwave so the pastry was limp and pastey. Bill came to £28.50, all in all a great lunch, so good we booked for the Sunday Carvery.

Had a fabulous time at there music makes memories event. Food excellent, great singer and staff couldn't be more helpful. They even surprised my best friend with a birthday cake for her 94th birthday.

Went for carvery today, been told by a few people it’s nice but I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was the meat was as tender as it could be 10/10 highly recommended and always service with a smile 😊

Tony and staff where so helpful with me being in a wheelchair and welcoming. Food was great.

A first visit for me, it lunchtimeso it was quiet. .Very clean inside. The food was generous in portions, and the service was very good and attentive. It's a place I would certainly visit again.

This is the second time that I've been here and yet again I couldn't eat all of the food . They really pile the plates high , good selection of ales and lagers on tap .

Have been a few times and have had a wonderful experience each time! Amazing food and excellent service! We tried the vegetarian chilli and the southern fried chicken burger today and both were delicious! Would highly recommend 💯

Called in after a dog walk around the local dam. Sunday carvery only. Had beef and gammon,the gammon was succulent.

Too expensive, food was cold, one slice of beef, and the gammon was just crumbs.We all said we will not return. Much cheaper at Meadow Farm, and larger plates.

Nice pub with nice food and service. We had 2 meals at lunch time for £15. The ‘pie’ was a dish of meat and gravy with a pasty lid, which was not stuck to the dish: it was nice, but challenging to eat. The scampi and chips was nice. The order was a little muddled, the dish with peas came with a salad, the dish with no sides came with peas. The staff were all young and friendly.

It was fairly quiet when we went on a Thursday lunchtime. I had the homemade steak pie. Delicious thick gravy. Delicious pie. Served really hot. This is the first time we've been since Blue Ball reopened. We will be going back shortly and I will be having the pie again. We will also be trying the Sunday lunch carvery in the future.

First time here and found it a lovely pub. Food was very nice especially if you use the lunchtime menu as you save money aswell. Staff here were very attentive and nice but my only concern was the time from ordering to actually getting your food but that could have been because they were busy but not sure if that was the cause.. Give it a try is my advice.

We decided to visit here for Sunday Carvery based on the recent good reviews after it reopened. Booked in advance and arrived to be met by one of the staff who showed us straight to our table. Table was in an awkward corner next to the toilets and quite small for 3 people. The staff member walked off and no explanation was given about the menu, or whether we needed to order at the bar so after a while of just sitting there my Husband went straight to the bar to order drinks and he also ordered the carvery. We got our food and overall it was pretty good, the beef was a little dry but the lamb and gammon were delicious. Veg was slightly overcooked but that's just our personal preference. The plates weren't massive and we eat pretty quickly so we were done within 20mins. Eventually somebody came to clear our plates and we were asked if we wanted dessert so I said "yes, I'll have a look please" thinking there might be a menu but the staff member just walked away without saying anything. We finished our drinks and still no sign of a menu, the staff were all at the front but we were tucked away at the back so we just left feeling a little underwhelmed. So food was good but the service let it down which is a shame.

We had a joint retirement/ leaving do here. Tony and his staff were fabulous. Nothing too much, no number too high. Really tasty buffet, plenty of food. 5 stars are not enough would give more of there were more. Well done to you all and we hope you have continued success at your fairly new venture.

Nice pub only live up road from the pub but unfortunately not much vegetarian food and no vegan food and no salad where you can add extra to the salad not hard to do a salad . Unfortunately my daughter vegan nothing on menu for her disiponting. We can go to other pub where they have separate vegan and vegetarian menu . Nice but no vegan or not many vegetarian options.

Had a fantastic meal with friends, too much on plate, I had fish and chips it even came with a slice of bread and butter,one of my friends had sausage and mash which they said was fab, and another had hunters chicken which was good too, they have a wide selection of real ales as well as all the other drinks you would expect, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the pub is very clean, I would recommend this pub to go for a meal or just a drink

Came in thinking nice pub. Wouldn't serve me a drink 2 mins after last orders bell. Which was before 11. Served someone else at the bar a few minutes later. Then another 5 mins after that. Just came in with my partner for a quick pint as she recently moved into the area. Not quite sure what I did wrong.

Really enjoyed our family meal out. Food was excellent, hot, substantial and most of all, very tasty. You can clearly tell it was homemade and not pre packed and microwaved like you get in most pub chains. Any pub that places Hendersons on every table alongside the salt and pepper is on to a winner in my opinion. Will be visiting again, without question.

Had a drink here really friendly nice pub

Only 2 weeks since this place reopened. This is our first visit, the first of many. Very welcoming people and the atmosphere is relaxed with a good ambience. Fine selection of ales, lagers, shots etc. Highly recommend place to visit.

Reyt nice, deffo reccomend the fish and chips with hallumi fries.

First meal in the Ball for a long time, it was lovely. The pies are amazing 😁 the staff were really friendly and accomadated all the chikdren food requests. Def will be back

Awful service, over an hour 20 min wait for terrible food that was undercooked and pizzas that are burnt!! Do not recommend!! Terrible customer service and bad attitudes.

I have met my friend here before but this time we wernt very impressed my friend asked for the vegiterian options which neither were available and there were a couple of other options that were not available the menu is not very varied the food was nice but probably wont visit again

Under the new management this village pub is on its way back 2 it's former glory ! Well done Nigel and Heather keep it up.

Recently refurbished! Looks really good! Nice enthusiastic young staff!!

The pub is under new management and opened for the first time since the start of the pandemic on Sunday 1st November and had to shut 3 days later for the second lockdown. Gotta feel for the landlord and landlady, however they did not put themselves out to introduce themselves to their customers. The 2 Young bar stewards were acting immaturely and need to act more responsibly.

Book a table for 3.30 we were still waiting at 3.45 to seated even though tables had become available,moor effort was placed on teenagers who stank of canobis and clearly of the face, came in after us and got a table and there food whilst we where still waiting , safe to say we will nor are family be going back,

2 meals for £7 is a joke - might be a good idea to check on how your close competitors do the same thing with good value and substantially more food. Won't be doing that again.

The sunday carvery is lovely. Friendly staff.

Had a really nice vegetarian nut roast sunday carvery. Nut roast was really tasty, firm and moist. All the veg was cooked perfect and was also tasty. We had to Pre order the nut roast which wasn't a problem and was brought to our table along with presumably our own vegetarian gravy. My only real criticism would be the layout of the pub as the dining area is the front of the pub where customers enter the bar area and our table was next to the door so everytime someone entered we got an earful of traffic noise and a draught, I personally would have thought it better to have it to the right side of the pub, extending into the so called tap room as this would have created a more private and secluded area from the rest of the pub.

Quiet, warm and friendly atmosphere, well decorated and clean. Great selection of cask ales.. only 1 rose wine but a very nice one. The food was very good and very reasonably priced. Friendly staff, quick to serve and polite.

Nice staff, venue and food. On a weekend it can be a madhouse full of kids hammering around. Something to bear in mind.
