Block&Barrel in Pembrokeshire

Our usual takeaway wasn’t open, so we took a chance on Block & Barrel, and have to say, we weren’t disappointed! The food arrived in good time, freshly cooked & piping hot. The quality of the local produce was top notch and the portions were generous and tasty. The son (10yo) made the ultimate statement “I think this burger might be better than McDonalds”. We have won at parenting, thanks to Block & Barrel!

Ordered for our Wedding Anniversary dinner online for 5:45 pm. 6 pm comes and no sign of our food - rang the restaurant and told they hadn't got our order (but money was already being taken out of our account) because the computer needed refreshing - came through then and told us they could deliver our food in another hour. Had to refuse this as we were sharing our food with our 1 year old and would need to be getting him to bed by then. So ended up running to the chip shop instead

I'd been here for a coffee / cake before but we (my wife and I) were working in the town and decided to have lunch. Chilli CC for me and a Cawl for my wife. Smashing. Went back the following day and had the same again (unimaginative I know), but it was that tasty.

Lovely Sunday Roast! Quick service, very friendly staff, tasty food nicely presented. Nice atmosphere inside. Good to know that take away meals are available !

Very disappointed. We visited the place some weeks before during the day for a coffee and cake. We looked through the evening menu and based on that we thought we'd come back for an evening meal. So last night was a big let down. Turned up with two hungry kids and my wife. My wife and i decided to go for the Chateaubriand steak which we were disappointed to be told would take a minimum of one hour to prepare and it felt like they were discouraging us to have it as it was a complicated dish to prepare. If it's that problematic then why have it on the menu, they charge enough for it. No way could we all wait that long so we ordered a basic steak meal so we could all get fed quicker, kids were moaning as usual due to the lack of signal and wifi. Anyway the food still took over an hour to arrive and by that time the kids had drove me mad. The place was not busy either. The waitressing staff were miserable too. After dinner the kids ordered dessert. Two slabs of basic lemon sponge for £5.95 each! Totally seen off there. I recommend just going here for a coffee and cake.

Absolutely stunning interior when I went in, the steak I had was beautiful and the burgers the table ordered looked amazing. Proper cocktails and friendly staff. Had a takeout too since lockdown started and the food quality stayed the same! Would recommend to anyone

What can I say, we had an amazing experience tonight(21/11/20) We had the surf and turf which was out of this world, the service was spot on, as soon as our glasses were empty we were asked did we need topping up, the cocktails are the best in Pembrokeshire, our experience was first class from start to finish

Went for food with a friend ordered food and unfortunately crunched down on something from my salad, had a look and seen some sort of grit/slate bits in my salad, couldn’t finish my food as it put me off. Decided to let a member of staff know quietly as I don’t like making a fuss but felt like I should say something, had no apology and no offer to have any money taken off my meal and nothing else was said. Unfortunately won’t be returning.

Visited during ‘Eat out to Help Out’ and it was fabulous. However, I returned last week with some friends and it was such a let down.. The restaurant were running low or had run out of many things- such as menus or water jugs. We ordered drinks which took about 20 minutes to arrive (there were 3 other tables in the restaurant). They could not do the cocktail we ordered so they substituted which was fine. However, when our food order was finally taken, we were told there were none of the starter the 3 of us wanted to order (should have been told when given the menus) so we swapped to the soup. Waited 50 minutes for our starters and once we had finished them, within a couple of minutes our mains came out. Only when they brought my main meal did they tell me they had also ran out of my side (dauphinoise potatoes)- surely this should have been told to me within the hour of ordering and not whilst being given my main meal. Service was slow considering only 3/4 other tables in, but food was really delicious just unfortunately put any of us off visiting again for a while.. hopefully when things return to normal so will the service and we can return again and enjoy the lovely food.

staff very friendly and helpful.My wife has an intolerance to dairy and they were very accommodating and helpful.The food was lovely and also the wine.Brilliant atmosphere in there with the current climate the way it is.I love an evening out with good food and drink and I would definitely recommend..Many thanks Block and Barrel

Just to say was recommended but really disappointed £25 for a rib eye that was actually equivalent to an Aldi frying steak the potatoe dauphin were under cooked with mot so much as a hint of garlic.3 out of 6 meals were like this. Service was excellent just shame about the food.

Went as a family of 5 it was out first time eating out in 7 months and we were not disappointed. Food was delicious and very well presented. My daughter had the chicken fest burger and it was huge she loved every mouthful. Staff were very attentive and Took the time to engage with our kids which made them feel welcomed there . We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely stunning food! Couldn’t recommend any higher. The food was just divine and we had it how the chef recommended ... rare-medium rare ... beautiful! We went in casual clothes and felt really comfortable there. Definitely visiting again

Fabulous restaurant, lovely menu with a really helpful and approachable team. The food was delicious, very hard choosing due to scrumptious varied menu. They’ve managed to create a really warm welcoming atmosphere, and make social distancing work! Great to be able to support such wonderful local businesses. Looking forward to my next visit xx

My first few experiences with this resteraunt were through the delivery of meals when lockdown meant that is all that was allowed in order for the business going - the food was amazing then so when me and my family went to eat in-resteraunt tonight our expectations were already high. They were certainly exceeded! The food was as good as ever, the atmosphere was great and the interior was beautiful. All social distancing guidelines and COVID measures were in place and followed which made us feel safe. The staff were friendly, chatty and even went out of their way to go and get some more prosecco from the shop for our cocktails when they ran out whilst we were there. If I could give a higher than five star rating I would!Well done everyone

Visited for lunch on the 10th Aug. Delicious food - it was spot on. Took a little while to be served but obviously by sticking to social distancing and ensuring everyone’s safety then that’s totally worth it. Lovely to see local businesses being open again. Well done guys xxx

Went with large family party of 10, food was lovely not one complaint from anyone in our party, seating could have been better no cushions hard seating all round, food prices were very high wouldn't have gone if it wasn't for the 50% off, overall very enjoyable meal though

We have just visited the Block & Barrel as a family the service was excellent staff couldn't do enough for you and the food was to die for 10 out of 10

Been here lots of times never had a problem. Tonight the food took over an hour and 20 mins for 2 meals, again I wasn't bothered but charging me £18 for a cheap cheap bottle of red when inwas specifically told wine wasn't over £14 max as there was no wine list. Totally let down by a local business who has never charged this much for wine. Hold your heads in shame

We were visiting for the day, post covid struggled to find something open! So we’re very pleased when we came across this little place, great atmosphere and fit out, welcoming staff and very accommodating considering we hadn’t booked. It took 45 mins to get food although the table next to us complained they had been waiting over an hour. Might not seem excessive but they only had about 5 tables in total and we ordered one burger and one veggie burger. Unfortunately the food was inadequate and not as described on the menu. The veggie burger was straight from the freezer....so should have only taken 10 mins to cook and plate. Very over priced for what it was. Real shame

We had enjoyed a super steak - wonderful beef and dauphinoise potatoes - in the restaurant the first week in March. When lockdown started, we were really impressed that the management turned on a sixpence to do home deliveries, so we booked a Sunday lunch for my husband's birthday. It was a wonderful treat, the tastiest steak and ale pie with excellent pastry and dauphinoise potatoes followed by amazing home made cheesecakes - all beautifully prepared and promptly and cheerfully delivered by Mark. We couldn't resist ordering again the next week for Easter Sunday, when we enjoyed roast turkey and roast beef, complete with hot veg and gravy and even horseradish and cranberry sauce - followed by two different home made desserts, strawberry cheesecake and banoffi pie! Congratulations Louise, Mark and to the chef!Go on - treat yourselves!

Had a very tasty takeaway on Friday, the lasagne,salad with sweet potato fries and coleslaw was delicious, my partner had the Ribeye steak with port and stilton sauce and fries also delicious will be a regular every Friday.

Had a lovely evening last night with Louise & Mark, great atmosphere, delicious cocktails (I do like a pornstar martini and it was lush) my steak was cooked perfectly, and tasted fab. Will definitely be back and highly recommend to others. Wishing Mark & Louise all the best in their new venture, block & barrel is great for Hwest.

Went here for the first time on Valentine's day. Really cant fault it, the food was excellent and the service couldn't have been better. We didnt have the Valentine's menu but ordered from the main menu. Will definitely be going back.

Our first visit as we wanted to do something a bit different this NYE. What a fabulous meal, the steaks were to die for, cooked to perfection, presented beautifully and amazing dauphinoise potatoes, the curries the others had were also delicious. My friend and I had a couple of cheeky cocktails too, lush. Service was quick and with a smile. It was also quite busy so obviously popular. Finally Haverfordwest had a bloody good place to eat in the town centre. If you’ve not been, get yourself down there.

Nice atmosphere, good food menu with options for everyone from vegans to the big meat eaters. Nice to see specials that change frequently too. The food was a small while arriving but once it did was to die for. Chunky portion sizes packed with flavour. Three of us had burgers, two off the specials. We also ate a curry and a stir fry. Everyone commented on how nice the food was. Drinkwise, there is no draught beer only the small bottles. Good service - the chips in particular are delicious. Will definitely return.

My experiance with friends was very disappointing christmas dinner we had four sprouts each two small carrots two roast potatoes the turkey was very dry small gravy boat for fourteen people very small portions same with dessert very small portions also chicken burgers the bun was dry chips were cold I also found the price was very steep for what we had we were looking forward to a nice evening reading reviews about the steaks how delicious they are the staff very helpful and polite

Came here last night for my Christmas party with work and We were all extremely disappointed. For starters we had soup (my friend counted how many spoons full she had) was literally 5 and a quarter spoon fulls, which arrived in a massive bowl which looked ridiculous. Our main course was practically all cold apart from the brussel sprouts, I had the veggie dish and it was so tasteless with hardly any filling with so much pastry. The gravy portions were minuscule like the soup, we asked for more gravy I personally asked for loads more gravy please and they presented this tiny milk jug of gravy. Upon paying I tried to start a conversation with the girl behind the bar which was unsuccessful, she would rather stand with her back to me facing and watching the till work than listen to a word that came out of my mouth. It was a shame as this was the first Christmas night out party my place of work has had in years.

Christmas dinner with friends asked for a gin £6 each I thought that was a bit steep I was told this is a restaurant well I've never been to a "restaurant ' where you're cutlery is in a box not laid on the table. Meal was tasty but very poor portions. Not once did the staff interact with the group or ask if the meal was ok. We had to ask for dessert no cutlery unless we asked and then given a latte spoon would NOT go there again

Great meal fabulous service lots of fun had ....a great relaxing family gathering. Staff where welcoming and very accommodating as had small children with us. The food was great and hardly anything got left.

My partner and I had a rare child free evening out, and a chance to dine out; this was our first choice of restaurant having been here before and had a fab experience.We are so chuffed we spent the evening here once again, this time without our little one! Gorgeous food of The Block Burger (perfect beef) and half a Peri Peri Chicken (also wow) and homemade chips. Amazing choice of real ale and a delish mojito which was even made non alcoholic for my pregnant body (could not even notice the lack of booze, scrumptious) Will be back again soon!

This was the third time i have visited the B & B and as always my husband and i had a lovely experience with fantastic service, gorgeous food and 2 fab cocktails. Will be back for a forth time no doubt

Delicious steaks- the best I've ever had!! So tender and juicy- our meal was lovely!! We also ordered the ribs, which were equally yummy!! The Cocktails are a refreshing change- it's great to finally have somewhere that serves a decent drink in Haverfordwest!! We can't wait to return pre Christmas!!

Fabulous restaurant nestled in the heart of Haverfordwest, bringing a touch of the city to the old market town. Cool decor, funky tunes and super friendly staff giving top class service. I started with a pornstar martini expertly made, before having the delicious mozzarella bites, followed by a sumptious rib eye and sweet potoatoes fries. This was washed down with a great little red and rounded off with a fabulous espresso martini.... what a gem!! Can't wait for my next visit!!! Well done to the team!!!

We had friends visiting from London and I’d heard loads of positive reviews about the Block& Barrel so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed!! The cocktails were amazing, the food was delicious and the service was excellent! Thank you for a wonderful evening!

We had another fabulous meal at B&B; on Saturday night for my husbands birthday!! The stir fry with steak strips was superb best I’ve ever had!! We had delicious cocktails and the staff couldn’t do enough for us 😊 highly recommend 👍👍👍👍

best place to eat hands down in haverforwest. great layout and superb decor. the meat is of the best quality (apparently comes from the best butcher in wales). there’s something for everyone as well. my wife is a vegetarian, bless her, and she had an amazing dish which i cant remember as I was ears deep in the burger. highly recommended. ahh nearly forgot... cocktails. the only place in town to do incredible cocktails. I had a pornstar martini and certainly felt like one after!! I’d book as it seems to be always busy

Been here a couple of times, both lunchtime and evening, and on each visit the food has been delicious and great service! A good menu selection and specials. Lovely cocktails on the evening visit. I have visited both as a family meal and with friends!

Had a delicious meal with a group of friends at Block & Barrel followed by some amazing cocktails. Safe to say everyone enjoyed their meal in what is a tastefully decorated and welcoming environment. The staff are excellent hosts with nothing too much trouble. Would be nice to see more cocktails on the menu though ☺️ Hope this local delight is here to stay.

Had dinner in here today 16/11/19, 3 adults 1 child. I had a burger my daughter had a chicken burger my little boy had Mac & cheese and the mrs had the ribs. All of the meals were all spot on. My burger was lush. Same as my daughters burger my little boys mac & cheese was all very tasty. Best for last was my mrs ribs there were to die for. Make sure you book early for a table we had an 5pm till 7pm slot. Well worth it.

I went for a meal with some work colleagues and the food was incredibly tasty! The decor of the restaurant looked pretty but what spoiled the experience is being told to leave our table as there was another table booked! I booked a table for 8 of us at 6:00pm and we’d just been given our desserts at around 7:45, shortly after another table came in and waited and then we were told we had to leave by 8:30 as the table we were sat at had been booked for 8! We had not been told prior to that evening that we would need to leave by a certain time and due to this spoiling the night I probably won’t be visiting again.

Visited this weekend and had some good tasty food at a reasonable price. Decor is stylish and staff friendly. The ribs were especially good!

Had dinner here last Saturday evening and it was fantastic. All 3 of us had fillets and they were beautifully cooked and tender and the portion sizes were substantial. Starters were generous too - we shared 2 between us. Drinks not expensive. We will definitely be coming back!

I went to Block and barrel for Sunday roast . The atmosphere in the restaurant is great , the staff are welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help . The roast was fab and porn star martinis rocked . It’s where everyone should be on a Sunday x

Wow! Amazing roast yesterday afternoon, really recommend. We were a group of 10 , 5 children and 5 adults, the starters were divine - tiger prawn cocktail and chicken liver pate , the Marie Rose sauce was delicious, and my husband said the pate was the best he’d ever had . We all had roast beef for main , which was simply gorgeous. The meat was melt in the mouth and the sides of cheesy leeks and sautéed greens were fantastic. All washed down with far too many mouth watering porn star martinis and some fab red wine . The children had roasts, chicken strippers and ice cream . All a huge hit . The icing on the cake was the exceptional customer service and relaxed atmosphere. We are planning to go again next Sunday ! Don’t miss out - truly amazing .

Was down in Haverfordwest for the weekend and were lucky enough to be amongst the first to have a Sunday roast at the block & barrel. We hadn’t booked and they were busy, so had a delicious cocktail whilst waiting for a table.

Well what a treat we had today. We have been here before for food and was really excited when we heard that they were starting Sunday Roasts. We had the beef which was amazing and tender, and the chicken which was so succulent. The Yorkshires were amazing I had the chicken but ended up having 2 Yorkshire’s as they were so delicious. We don’t drink but they had a great range of soft drinks, and I could see lots of other customers drinking what looked like delicious cocktails! The staff couldn’t do enough for you and the atmosphere was amazing. We will be back! Very Soon...

By far the best meal I've eaten out in Haverfordwest in a long time and easily the best restaurant running currently in town. The standard of food is fantastic and extremely reasonable for the price you pay. Would give more than 5 stars if I could

From the moment we arrived at the restaurant we were very well attended to. The restaurant was very stylishly decorated and well set out. The food was really good especially the sweet potato fries that were a perfect accompliment to the burgers. Would highly recommend the cocktails !!

Eight of us visited here, everything about it was first class, the food and service was excellent, the good portion sized strawberry cheesecake is the best ever, steaks cooked to perfection as was everything else.

Main meal good, especially the sweet potato fries. We all had a sweet but in my opinion it wasn't good value, one of my friends had the homemade cheesecake it was merely half an inch high! I had the Berry meringue sundae which was just icecream with one strawberry chopped up . Still it has a lovely atmosphere and the main meals are good with attentive staff.

Absolutely delicious food, fantastic service, lovely decor and amazing strawberry daiquiris. So nice to have such a fab place like this in town, much needed!

We booked a table for 4 on a Thursday evening but on arrival they hadn't allocated a table and there was a bit of hurry to move drinks off one table to give it to us and they apologised.

Finally visited Block and Barrel after hearing great feedback. the family group was a mix of food fanatics and picky eaters. Colette and team took it all in their stride and were able to make suggestions to satisfy our fussy friends. Amazing food was enjoyed by all and we've been telling everyone about it since. Looking forward to trying more of your great menu.

Can't fault the food!! Been here a few times now, the brisket burger is to die for!!! The service is excellent and will definitely be going back without a doubt!!

We were taking a holiday in Pembrokeshire where I grew up and having spent a few hours in Narberth, headed to Haverfordwest to find something to eat. As we have three children - one with a Cow's milk allergy - this isn't as straightforward as it might seem. Plus, having told my family about Chicken Eddie, a long gone (but loved) fried chicken place, their expectations were pretty dismal!

Massive thankyou to all the staff who was on shift for my meal on the 24th August! Food was perfect and the steaks were absolutely to die for😍 also you guys make the best cocktails! Thanks guys!. I wont be eating anywhere else! Highly recommended!!

Great little restaurant in the heart of Haverfordwest. The roast chicken was probably the best I’ve tasted. Massive portions and great value for money. Must visit if you are in Haverfordwest

We had a lovely relaxed evening for our anniversary! The sharing platter was amazing- the meats were cooked perfectly and tasted great- we had a little wait for the food but we had the whole evening so were in no rush to get anywhere! We ordered 2 sides to go with the sharing platter but didn’t need both as there was plenty of food on the platter itself! The staff were great, attentive and available if needed. Thank you for a lovely meal!

Came here for Father's Day. Absolutely lovely meal, my monster steak was amazing, and the staff are really friendly and approachable.

At last !!!! Haverfordwest needed a place like this for years, good for groups,families or just as a couple.

We decided to give here a go following a friend's recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Cocktails were yummy and the food delicious. The sizes were good and the service excellent.

I was staying in the local area for a few nights and stumbled upon Block&Barrel.; The atmosphere, food & service was impeccable. We had such an fantastic time we visited twice during our stay! If your looking for tasty, hearty food I would highly recommend.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and feels relaxed. Nice booths or tables to sit at and nice lighting. Has a rustic decor feel which is welcoming. Very busy that night and although our table wasn't ready, the staff politely asked if we would like a drink out side as it's warm or would we like to come back in a short while. This suited us as we went to a local pub to have a quick drink while we waited. The menu is presented very minimal with old school typewriter font which is great. Nothing too fussy and simple to read. We chose 2 starters and steaks. Reasonably priced. I had sirloin and my partner had fillet which both cooked to perfection and range from £25-30. For our sides we had choice of garlic potatoes, which were beautiful, chips which looked hand cooked or salad/veg. Food was well presented on a wood and slate base. We didn't feel rushed to finish and food was cooked in good time. I had a few cocktails, which were delicious and a nice range. My partner was on bottled beer which they also had a decent range of. We couldn't manage dessert as stuffed and a little drunk. But overall a fantastic treat by my partner and definately go again and sample some more of the fab range of meaty dishes!

Great eatery to spend our family birthday meal...the food (Fillet Steak, Barrel Burger and kids Mac & Cheese), especially the meat, was splendid! The atmosphere was perfect! Highly recommend and can’t wait to revisit to try more of the menu and some of those yummy cocktails...

Popped in for a quick lunch midweek. Ordered a burger and fries each with a pint of a stunning local ale. The burger was exceptionally good. Not like something you would expect from a small local restaurant. It tasted fantastic, really well cooked and the fries were superb. Good service, great food and very reasonably priced. Will be visiting more often for sure

My partner and I came across this restaurant by chance and wanted to try something different (we live away). The restaurant itself is tucked in its own little corner and has an inviting atmosphere. Staff are friendly, the drinks are fairly priced, and the food is simple but good. I had the "Block Burger" whilst the family had a 1/2 roast chicken each.

Myself and around 8 friends came here for an evening meal, drinks and a bit of a catch up. Upon walking through the door we had a warm welcome from staff, they were friendly and attentive.

We have tried to book here for ages but it’s been so busy we haven’t had chance and we came in one day and the atmosphere was amazing! The staff were really helpful and friendly! We sat by the window the place was really clean and lovely decoration!! I had the block burger with extra bacon and it was amazing the first time I’ve managed to Finnish a whole plate of food! And my partner had the steak also a empty place! The food was so fresh and tasty! We then had pudding! I had the crunchie sundae and he had the cheesecake again both gone in seconds! The price is really good also! 100% would recommend to anyone that comes to visit and we already recommended to friends and family ☺️ Will be back again for sure!!

Fantastic venue. We didn't book but they fitted us in despite being very busy. Service was spot on, Paula couldn't do enough for us. The food was fantastic; best burger I've had in a long time and so reasonably priced. We'll be back!

I go to block and barrel a lot with my boyfriend but also with my friends and the food is always fantastic, great portions, fast service and tasty. The atmosphere is always lively and staff are welcoming. I’m vegan and they always have nice options for me that always have lots of flavour. Would 100% recommend to anyone!

Visited with friends in May for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were polite and helpful with food arriving promptly after ordering. The burger was amazing with sweet potato fries which tasted so good. Can’t wait for a return visit.

We went to the Block & Barrel for our end of term outing, there were 10 of us, and each and everyone of us had the most fantastic meals, we all had a variety of different things off the menu from burgers to gammon to steaks and they were all spot on, the atmosphere was so lovely, nice and relaxed, the staff couldn't help us enough and their friendly manner just added to our experience. It was my second time visiting and again i went for the steak, i've got to say that it is the best steak I've had in Pembrokeshire, it's hung in a Himalayan salt chamber which definitely adds to the flavour and all the side dishes were just as good. They do banging cocktails, which are so good and have a great selection of wine, and also cater for those who would rather have larger or spirits. As well as our mains we also had desserts which were equally great and lot's of. I would highly recommend the Block & Barrel being everyone's first choice to eat out, you will not be disappointed, and i for one can't wait to visit again. Well done to the owners and staff, this is what Haverfordwest was missing and you all have nailed it.

Me and my boyfriend have been quite a few times now and we love it. The burgers are to die for, I can’t get enough of them even the fries are heavenly. All my family loves it too, would definitely recommend.

Absolutely blown away with the quality of the food, it's one of the best meals I've had. It had not long opened and everything ran smoothly, the staff were very polite and friendly. Overall a great experience will definitely return.

Absolutely brilliant meal! Had the lamb burger and ribs as starter. Obviously quality meat used . Loads of meat on ribs and burger was superb! Totally recommend. Service excellent with staff who clearly cared about the customers opinion. Will definitely be back!

As we were a large group from work we preordered our meals. The meals all comes out together piping hot. Many of us had the chickfest which was well presented and with the best sweet potato fries I have ever tasted!

If you like good steaks and meat in general then you’ll love block and barrel. The meat is sourced from a great local butcher who obviously has a passion for providing the best quality produce.
