Black Lion in East Riding of Yorkshire

We were looking for an old traditional pub and we were not disappointed. Excellent customer service and patience esp I am indecisive what lager, stout or beer to have. Love the reinvention of the old English roast with the roast beef in a Yorkshire batter wrap.

Called on a quiet lunchtime but love the interior of this characterful pub in Brids Old Town. A great place for entertainment with live acts and a fantastic tiered stage. Good ales and comfy atmosphere make this an all round good pub.

Stopped off for a Sunday lunch after a weekend in Bridlington and it was lovely. Great portion size and very tasty food. The atmosphere is great and staff were very welcoming. Lovely old pub.

The Black Lion has a good range of beers, larger, and cider they also sell cask conditioned real ales. There is a large bar leading to a brilliant theatre like stage area with a lot of terraced seating and standing area in front of the stage. This pub has the best venue for live music i have seen. It's a great pub.

The place has quirky style decor, full of drama. The menu is simple pub grub, but good quality (proper chips). The person that served us was charming & friendly and she fell over her self to be helpful. I highly recommend

Very old traditional pub in the old town. Popped in for a drink on the Saturday and came back on the Sunday for a roast dinner. Very nice staff and food.

Watched a band - Kingsmen, great venue, bar area spacious. Good viewing for watching a band and a good dance our in front of the elevated stage. Didn't eat there, so cannot comment on the food.

This is a lovely pub with friendly staff. Had a really nice Sunday lunch. Good portion size. Food was tasty and service was very good. Would definitely visit again. Could do with a veggie option and also a dessert menu would be nice.

When we stayed in brid a couple of weeks ago we had a brillant night out watching a live band in black lion what a fabulous night .everyone was lovely atmosphere was brillant .

We went to a comedy night. It's a smashing place and a good venue. The comedians were excellent, it's just a shame the audience was small. I bet when it's full, there's an amazing atmosphere. Definitely going to come again in the future.

Wow what a pleasant surprise when we visited the Black Lion. The atmosphere was electric with a live band playing, people dancing and generally everyone enjoying themselves. We've never been in this pub or even knew it was there. Well worth a visit and I guarantee you will be impressed if you like live music.

We've been a few times. Had a drink and enjoyed the music on a Friday night and ate on the vintage Sunday. Both were excellent.

Went last night to see metallica tribute group. Very impressed with the set up. Good night all round and decent drink prices. Highly recommended to anyone into live music.

Played here with a band and had a great time, such a cool venue the staff we're great looked after by top guys sound engineers and had so much fun. Hope to return!

Good atmosphere, but almost impossible to get served at the bar. Guy in front of me said he'd been waiting half hour to get served!

We went here for a themed night (Nu-metal) and it was amazing. Such a great night and the pub has such a great atmosphere. Will recommend to anyone.

Great venue for watching live bands, we went on new years eve to watch rewind the 70's. It was a brilliant evening everyone in our party had a wonderful time, the band were fantastic, as always. Looking forward to going again asap.

Best pub in East Yorkshire, and one of the quirkiest and under rated music venues in the UK if it was in a busier town it would attract some very very big acts.

One of the best venues in Bridlington. The Black Lion is unrecognisable since new owners have revamped the interior. Highly recommended, just to view. Plenty of live acts throughout the year. Cosy side rooms.

Spent a couple of nights here and the rooms are lovely, bar staff are friendly, food was great and loved the bingo. Would go back and recommend to friends and family.

Amazing breakfast served here, huge portions and includes toast and jam! Probably the best I have ever had in Bridlington and excellent value for money. The staff are so friendly too.

Visited a few weeks ago,And cannot praise the staff and management more highly than superb! Great selection of drinks and such interesting fixtures and fittings, lf it hasn't been given a civic award it should have ! My wife just informed me that someone on some site gave it a dreadful review 🙃 l suggest that this person returns to the planet stupid ,John herring .

I popped in on invite from a local I got chatting to about the history of the place. Is deceptively large. At the rear of the pub is a step down both into history merged with what looks like an old Shakespearean style theatre. There is a stage and stepped seating that is arranged as old church style wooden pews. There are some great oil paintings depicting dignitaries whom I'm guessing are from around the area. It's like stepping back in time. I only wish I'd taken more images. Great place. They feature live bands and host wedding receptions there. Pub grub so available. I'll be heading back for sure and trying out he food and grabbing some more images.

Went to the psychic night on Thursday. A very good experience, my friend was one of the people to receive a message from the spirit world. Would return for next event next month. The menu also looks very appetising and I would definitely try it out. Prices looked very reasonable.

The Black Lion, is a recently refurbished pub. It is a quirky pub, with a nice atmosphere. It has its own theatre, that oddly fits in perfectly, a nice pub to visit

Popped in for a drink yesterday and saw they did lunch so went in to try it out. Great service and fabulous Lasagne for an outstanding price. Couldnt fault it.

Nice pub since opened but the older lady cheff with greyish hair in the kitchen seems very rude a part of 5 came in and we see her eat the chips from the kids bowl prety discussting really won't eat there again but the beer is nice so will there for drink there again also didn't find the same lady very child friendly so maybe not take kids to this pub try some where else if out as a family

First time to this venue to see live music. What a surprise we loved it the charm and caricature of the place was amazing. We are from Hull not a long drive but at the end of a long wk it was a treat for a birthday it was great. Will will be back.

Staying an extra night ,room is fabulous and cosy,excellent breakfast.The bar area is very tastefully adorned,the back room is wooden stairs flanked by pews leading to the bottom dance floor and stage.All draped tastefully and antique paintings finish the effect.Marvellous achievement of blended cultures.Top marks for the dining area .

This pub will not let u in with a dog…..all the other pubs in the old town do…except the star but that was closed…To be honest it’s a spit n sawdust pub quite scruffy really…I don’t understand why they don’t let dogs in when it’s a bit of a dive!!!!…pubs like this with this attitude I hope shut for good and they deserve to…shame on you really and hope you close you’re doors for good pls…awful attitude towards dogs!!!!!…👎

Good choice of ale .always seems to have some entertainment on though very eclectic if you don't like what's on when you visit try another day it will probably be a totally different style of music playing

Staying locally for a few days, the welcome at the Black lion Hotel Public House was warm and friendly, not just from the owners but equally from the people who were there enjoying a drink, we stayed midweek so was comfortably quiet. One of the few pubs in Bridlington that actually have a designated accessible toilet for wheelchair users, HUGE plus from a full time wheelchair user. You do have to go via the court yard but it's kept lovely and clean, again a huge positive. We will be back when we visit Bridlington again.
